The property is very outdated and could use some upgrades but for the price of the rooms it was not terrible. The staff was awesome and very helpful.

Very nice staff

wasnt worth the cost of the room

Upon waking on the morning of our stay we found cockroaches by the refrigerator. I contacted Gracie at the front office to inform her and request a refund. She agreed that a refund was appropriate but she had to get approval. She promised to call me back by noon but didn't. I called her and she told me the owners were not available and that they would call me by tomorrow. I am very upset and disappointed at the lack of response. I am requesting a full refund.

The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. The room and bathroom are in desperate need of remodeling.

Bathroom very clean. Fridge. Dog friendly. Responsive. Lots of pillows. Comfy beds. Disliked carpet cleanliness. Hole in front door.

Close to the dock

Not bad. Price was right.

Although this is basic motel it was clean and staff were very friendly. I would stay again.

I liked the location, was close to where we were going for a class reunion. Area was close to downtown which made it nice to walk to water and draw bridge. Even just updating the shower head would be a big help.

Vintage vibes

Was very impressed with the friendliness of the clerk Gracie and when we ended up running late she accommodated us by opening up our room, turning on the air and light. Room was sparse but very clean and smelled clean. Vintage vibes with the pink tiled bathroom. Beds were a little stiff for me but all in all a good experience.

A bit outdated

It was nice for the price. Definitely older and a bit run down but the rooms were clean and the staff was very accommodating.

Liked that it was near airport

They let me pick my room! You might notice from the map that the property is right under the landing path for the local airport, but don't let that deter you. This is not LAX or O'Hare. Daytime operations only, or nothing late at night, anyway, and small planes. I barely noticed the few flights. Some of the trucks on Bridge Street were louder. There are several restaurants within easy walking distance, or drive a few blocks on State St. (behind the building) to avoid the traffic on Bridge St., park on State and walk a short block to the main business/tourist area on Bridge St. The open closet area in the room could have used a light to help me see into my suitcase.

You get what you pay for! I appreciated the availability and flexibility. The room sort of had a smell, along with the bedding. The owners were kind!

Villa Moderne is a convenient, pet friendly (in certain rooms), smoke free motel. The hosts welcomed us personally. We have stayed here before and each time is pleasant. It’s a way to save money compared to other hotels in the area.

The fridge didn’t work and there was no staff at the desk the entire evening and night to help us and no one answering the phone.

Nice well maintained hotel. I would stay again.

Faucet in the shower didn’t work

If you are looking for a great place to sleep that is quiet but not a lot of frills…this is the place. It was immaculate and the beds were comfortable! The staff were very friendly and accommodating! I would stay here again!

This is an older, very well maintained motel. Prices are dear in the summer but equal or better than comparable lodging in the area.

Clean, but worn and dated. Upgrade plumbing, lighting and furnishings.

Though quiet and fairly clean, It was poorly stocked with Necessary items, toilet paper Wash cloth. No Shampoo. The microwave was out in the hallway, The door to my room was a Flimsy Hollow With only a Small lock On the Door knob. When I? Awoke in the morning the security Door to my sleeping area was propped open

The front desk person was extremely friendly.

Great affordable lodging

It was a last minute on a Holiday weekend and was a great place for the price

Disgusting. The screen door was just open upon arrival with a huge hole in it and large crack where it shut at the bottom so easy access to bugs. The corner of the bed sheets had brown spots on them. We left immediately. Even lost money because of the unkept conditions of this motel.

You get what you pay for.

The bed was extra firm, I prefer something a little softer. The room had a draft coming from the bathroom vent that wasn't even functional. Had the heat turned all of the way up and still had to wear a hoodie to keep warm.

Terrible

There were no towels, the bedsped had blood stains on it. It was cold in the room. The bathroom sink wouldnt deain hair and crap in it. Microwave was nasty inside. Terrible. Wont stay there again. Went there to spend time with my mom in nursing home.

Would not recommend

The door only had a door lock not a deadbolt and the door was chipped. Rooms are very outdated and did not feel clean.

Easy check in, clean

The price was right and it was so close to everything anyone could need. Staff was very nice and it was a pleasure to find and stay there.

Said free internet I could NEVER NEVER get on the internet. I had work to do and emails to send. Went to the office for help after they put password in and as soon as I walked out the door the password was gone!!!! They seemed put out that they to help me. But get a rooter that can get the password to stay as we walk out the door!!!! False advertising. WAY OVER PRICED. KEEP LOOKING AROUND AND FIND A BETTER MODERN PLACE TO STAY ITS NOT WORTH THE MONEY. Will not go back!!

Great little spot

Our stay was convenient to the wedding we attended. The place it’s self was quiet and we had plenty of room. Thanks for the accommodation of early check in! Will be back:)

Pet friendly

The front door was broken and didn’t latch, the TV didn’t work, and there’s no shampoo, conditioner, or a hair dryer as an FYI.

This property was just what we were looking for. Clean and in a good location. It was nothing special but the front desk person was nice and the room, though older, was spotless.

It's an older facility, but worked well for my needs. Easy walking distance to my favorite place. The dairy grill and downtown.

Do not EVER go to this flophouse! I am a retired Captain for American Airlines and I have been around the globe in hotels in the last 40 years and have NEVER experienced such sad accommodations. Just a sampling but by no way all inclusive= TV didn’t work, front door would not latch closed, heat didn’t work, no air conditioning,curtains to parking could not be closed to casual observers, no tissues, no shampoo or conditioner ( “ there is a Dollar General down the road”), thankfully dirty loose carpet was dirt colored, filthy debris around beds, screen pulled open allowing anything to fly in to welcome you to this fine resort! We got stuck here for a wedding because habitual human accommodations were not available. I don’t want anyone to be injured, and I am disappointed in myself to say such a thing, but if this $188.00 a night flophouse burned to the ground the world would be a better place.

It was quiet & clean , They let us check in early , nice since we drove 200 miles ! you need to ask for supply’s like coffee mugs & filters ! Toilet paper, but we got some !

The basics done well.

Spacious and quaint

Sheets have stains on them. Rooms smell like piss and socks… the owner goes to sleep & locks the checkin cabin & says “call this number if you need anything.” You call it 5 times and get no answer. For how expensive this place is, go get a real hotel that you trust for the $50 more

What. A. Dump. The mold will kill you if the lumpy old beds don't.

Enjoyable stay!

Enjoyable stay! Clean room and friendly, accommodating staff.

Everything was as cheap as possible cutting corners in every way. The cost didn't make sense for what we received. The cheapest possible coffee in a can with a remote control that was missing a battery mismatched towels and sheets, missing shampoo. The carpet was thin cheap industrial grade. For what we got I would have expected it to be 70 or 80 bucks not $130

This place is old.

This place is old and needs to be painted and updated. The one staff member I met when checking in was nice but the place is very disappointing. In fact, I did not sit on the couch as it did not look clean. I like Charlevoix and hope to return this fall but not sure where to stay.

The rough motel stay in paradise

Stayed in apartment 3. The room was not worth the $200/night fee BUT it was the only thing available in town when everything else is $500/night. Airport is close by so you will see and hear some cool old private planes. The shower sucks but I had hot water. The sheets were clean enough… very old and out dated. If you’re a young dude like me you will be fine; if your trying to bring your gf or family don’t do it.

This property is old but clean and fine. I wouldn’t stay here for my honeymoon but for a casual trip it was just fine. No complaints except that the air conditioner was very loud when turned up. So we just opened the windows.

Prompt check in!

The alarm clock was not user friendly to operate. Unable to set the time, so the alarm would not work. The new alarm clock, or table lamps, need to include USB charging plug-ins. Even though the property is kitschy, retro, and charming, it needs to have these current amenities for our wired society.

Very clean

Very old property overall and it shows. Bedding OLD and did fit the beds. Curtains didn't cover/ fit the windows. Stayed 2 nights, 2 people with 2 towels & washcloths. Large mirror looked like it was wiped with dirty cloth. Exterior door didnt close properly. Shower was hot but needs a new shower head s I water can get out. Staye on much better motels for half the price. Extremely disappointed

Property is on the main stretch in Charlevoix. Super noisy could barely sleep. A/C has only a “tornado” speed. It does cool down the room but not recommended to run it while you’re in the room

Quite a disappointment!

The motel is very worn. It is in dire need of updating. For $194 a night, I expected more. It was clean and the shower was lovely. I would not recommend it.

Heaven

Absolutely impressed with the view, the check in, and most impressed with our room. Absolutely adorable design and so comfortable. Seriously hated that it was only for one night. This motel will ALWAYS be my #1 go-to choice!!!!

The shower did not work. I reserved a king size bed. We got 2 full size beds that were horribly lumpy and uncomfortable.

There needs to be some updates. The air conditioner did not work very well. Coffee maker didn't work. Pillows were flat. Bed was very very soft. Wifi was not connected to the internet at all. The staff was accommodating and gave me extra towels and a heater for the one cold night.

Excellent motel to stay at and friendly staff.

The cost of the room was reasonable related to other Charlevoix rooms. The room and motel are simple, which I expected. The owners take good care of the facility. We have visited Charlevoix for almost 60 years, and we will happily stay at Villa Moderne in the future.

Lesson learned

This place was not the best … I arrive for check in only to find out that the lady had left and would be back in approximately an hour and a half… I was working so I had a few hours to sleep and now I have to waste an hour and a half waiting around for clerk. She was very nice and understanding when she finally did arrive and understood that I was upset. Try to offer me a make up situation with another room or a dinner but I don’t feel that I would ever stay there again. even for free lol.

Weekend getaway

One of the best experiences we have ever had in our many travels. Staff was amazing from check in to wait staff in bar/restaurant to check out. Our room was super clean and comfortable. This is definitely our new fav in Petoskey

We were very happy with our stay. Everything was clean and fresh. The staff was helpful when we needed them. We were in town for a wedding and not really in the room a lot, so it was perfect for us.

Very nice people who work hard to keep it clean, but the building is aging and needs a facelift. The biggest disappointment was the beds. Very hard and uncomfortable. I didn't get much sleep. For the price paid, I expected much more.

Fair - nothing special

The bed was comfortable but... the place is very old, dingy, lots of spiderwebs, nothing special... as far as accommodations go. It is, however, in a very good location.

Too high of a nightly price for motel. Friendly clerk when she could be found. No WiFi. Microwave is in the hallway and not in the room.

Run by a young family and they are very polite, prompt and accommodating; would not hesitate to stay here a second time! While it is an older property they take good care of keeping it clean and making it very welcoming!!!

This place is quaint. We loved it. It reminded us of the Rosebud Motel from Schitt$ Creek in all the best ways!

Motel old school

Our stay was out of necessity because of the Beaver Island Ferry, was a little worried because of outward appearance, but was very surprised how clean and centrally located it was they took care of us and our dogs. Thank you so much and give this place a shot family owned and run.

Quality doesn’t equal price

Stay was okay. Have to get ice from owners from their refrigerator. Coffee is loose coffee every previous occupier has had access to. Water pressure and temperature were good. Pillows could stand to be replaced. Town very cute.

Loved this place … the price and all

Quaint, motel style experience. Managers were kind and friendly. Room was clean and nice sized. I feel it was a bit pricey for the venue - $20 less a night would have been more appropriate, but I also understand it is peak season.

Clean but a 50's throw back so be prepared

Clean and staff person was friendly, but be prepared... this is a 50's throw-back! Our room did not look like the photos, but again it was clean and it was a safe place to stay. They did have a coffee maker, microwave and refrig though so that was nice. We basically were just there to sleep and the mattress was ok so that was a plus.

Good value for the price.

Reasonably priced and conveniently located. The manager was extremely helpful and provided lots of extra touches. The room was large and airy. So nice to be able to have open windows with a cross breeze in between them.

THE STAFF WA VERY HELPFULL

The motel was the only thing available at the summer resort. It is very outdated not well furnished, no ice maker, and old! It was not worth what I paid but it was the last resort so maybe it was.

For the cost it really wasn’t worth the stay. Was more of a motel vs anything else. For that price expected more but live and learn. The little interaction did have with staff was cordial and polite.

This was a perfect place to stay and enjoy the area. The room and location were nice, though better lighting would be welcome.

This was the only moderately (??) priced hotel in the area so we reluctantly agreed to it. The outside looked like a flop house, and we were very worried about how it would be, but the young woman who manages the motel was extremely professional and very personable and kind! She showed us to our room (not one of the ones facing the street on the ground floor, but a second floor one). When we went into the room we were so pleasantly surprised! It was a lovely room, large, with two beds as we required, and everything was immaculately clean and neat! The air conditioning was excellent and could be easily adjusted. The bathroom was very clean and neat, but there were only some small bars of soap and no shampoo. No problem as we had brought our own. The manager brought us extra pillows and I was able to borrow an iron because my dress for the wedding we attended had gotten quite squashed in the suitcase. She and her husband were absolutely wonderful hosts! If we had to go to Charlevoix again, we would definitely stay there!

The beds could be more comfortable. No toiletries offered. Staff and owners very nice. Place clean inside and out. Large rooms upstairs. Nice place to stay.
