Good place to stay simple no frills clean
The room smelled bad, there was a hole on the ceiling of the shower stall, anything metal was rusted and there were many homeless people across the street. I didn’t feel safe
I got there late in the afternoon and the clerk was very efficient to process my booking. Had a good rest for the night before leaving early in the morning.
Staff were friendly and helpful and the bedding and linens were very clean. The bed was a bit hard on my back and that is the only reason why I didn’t give it a higher rating.
The tv didn’t work. We had trouble with the toilet.
The room suited our purposes and we were comfortable
We found bedbugs around 10pm and the motel office closes at 9pm so there was no one to assist us. This is awful customer service and a safety concern for the property and all the occupants. We had to leave in the middle of the night and drive to a brand name hotel and pay again, where we knew we would has assistance should anything happen. I expect a full refund.
It was quiet and clean but the stairs to the second floor were awkward.
Motel needs to be torn down and rebuilt. Room has horrible odor and bed is cheap and uncomfortable.
For what this place cost I expect better dirty bedding rock hard beds surrounded by homeless and druggies would not recommend unless you have no choice
Was fine for spending a single night.
An older property that could use some updating. It was VERY clean, though. There was a definite lack of plug-ins and the one by the bed didn't work.
Good value. I would stay there again.
Kerry gave excellent service. The cleaning staff were lovely.
It was clean but tired. AC was great for the weather. Staff was friendly. Also did not like or know about the credit card hold which was more than the cost of one night’s stay. Probably would not stay again.
Basic for off road stay
Great
The garbage smell when we first pulled into the parking lot was awful. The rooms were clean so kudos to housekeeping. The surroundings were run down including the black asphalt was pulling off on the stairs and outside of the rooms. Rooms are dingy and outdated.
Could’ve make it more clean and tidy .. both room and surroundings.
Good service
Better place to stay.affordable, spacious and convenient place
The people were great and helpful. The area is run down and a little noisy, but lots of eating establishments in the area.
The location is good for us. Also dining options within walking distance are handy. Fairly quiet. Towels and bedding were nice. The in-room coffee was good. This is an older motel, that hasn’t been maintained very well. It needs some attention. It’s expensive for what you get, but the Island is ridiculously expensive in the summer. Still….shouldn't be so pricey IMHO.
Average place for the night, never been to the island and didn’t realize how pricey motels would be.
For a motel built in the late 50’s-early 60’s, this property is well kept but definitely showing its age. Room was clean but has an unmistakable scent of “old”. Bed was okay, shower was good. Would have appreciated another bedside table and more electrical outlets.
Staff was so lovely
Clean quiet friendly accommodating.
The bed was clean and comfortable. The AC worked. The property needs some attention, and the cost to stay over priced, but it’s high season on the Island.
We found that the room was dated, well used and required renovation. The mattresses were hard.
Check in was Perfect. Rooms are clean and beds are actually amazing
The management was amazing going out of there way to make sure everything was perfect. The office staff were great and answered all my questions and concerns. I’m definitely staying here on my next visit in August. Amazing work!!!!
Lovely room, right off the TransCanada.
Not outstanding, not terrible. Over priced for a dingy motel.
We didn't use the room that much at all. Got back late watched a bit of TV. Would have been nice to have Netflix. It was nice they had free wifi. Could have used some artificial sweeteners for the coffee. Can't think of anything else at the moment.
Affordable, very friendly staff, and clean accommodation.
Kinda what you'd expect for this area of Duncan. Swollen water damaged baseboards, weird smell. AC in unit 26 was not working, had three kids with us and the only way to cool down was to open the door in the middle of the night in an area with many unhoused people walking the streets. Siren noise every few minutes. Tons of noise and light pollution. Linens were clean, housekeeping staff was pleasant, but that's about the only positive thing to report.
Property is in good location. Clean enough if you have to stay for couple of days.
Location Price
This is a perfectly okay place for an overnighter. The place is average looking, but the rooms are big, comfortable and clean. The surrounding area is little dodgy - there were homeless people all around the nearby streets. Highly recommend the diner next to the hotel - its awesome.
We would stay here again. Despite being near a busy road it was very quiet. The staff were great and accommodating.
It's an older hotel but it's comfortable
Good area
Great
The property was situated both near good food and exercise options, but was on a sort of skid row. And while the room was clean, i got covered in insect bites while sleeping...not bed bugs however as they were all upper body.
This motel is a little tired but it is comfortable and convenient. The room provides everything needed for a quick business trip. The bed was a little hard and squeaky for my liking but I would stay again.
Okay
The staff not friendly and room very dirty
Old but clean
It was clean but a bit tired
Proximity to everything. Closed early
The room was small and clean. This is not a pretentious inn. It's a little down at the heels. Pleasant, courteous and helpful front desk staff. Laundry room YAY! We were on our bicycles and drenched from the rain, but one washer ran very hot on the cold setting. Comfortable beds and clean bedding. Fridge and microwave, basic coffee set up. Great pressure in shower. Bicyclist-friendly. Lots of great restaurants easily walked and bicycled to.
👍
Very friendly staff
It was spacious and very convenient for the weekend
I had no hot water on my first night
Clean and accommodating. Not great dining in the area but it's an old style motel. I see a boutique motel in its future.
The Motel shows its age but that being said, clean rooms, standard offering. Location was quiet. I would stay again.
A very surface clean suite in a convenient location. My only issues was the bathroom was musty as the bathtub taps were dripping and the fan was not working , as well as the microwave had a cracked door making me nervous to use it. The fridge was okay just had to turn it up and a glass left for use had a chip in it. I would stay again due to the location though.
Convenient area, friendly staff. Some things in disrepair. Leak in the bathroom roof.
Good place
I have stayed many times. For an older motel it's in great shape. The staff are amazing and it's close to everything for walking.
It is situated is a very unsafe neighborhood. Being two women we decided that were not comforable and moved
First room was dirty. We moved rooms after a plumbing issue
Bathroom was awful, tub had huge crack, door did not close
Dated and in need of repair and refresh.
A faded gem in Duncan
This is an affordable, centrally located motel that time has left behind. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and the front desk person was friendly and welcoming.
We were able to walk to wherever we wanted to go. The price was right.
This is an older motor inn with just basic amenities but it was perfect for us.
Place was very dirty. Stains on the sofa bed. Grease splatters and dirty walls, all over kitchen. Hair in the bathroom and the space smelled sooooo bad. The grounds were filthy and dirty with garbage everywhere. Will never ever be back!
Opened door and saw 2 maggots wiggling around. Fan in bathroom does not work. No cover on the bathroom ceiling light. Sink was out of position. Room looked neglected in upkeep. Night table lamp light would only sometimes work. They do not have cleaning staff while you stay there. Unsafe area of town with lots of street people around. Impression that there must be new owners that want your money, but won't return the service. Why is Expedia listing this motel on its site??
It was disgusting. Our stay lasted about 5 minutes. Room was riddled with black mold and mildew. Do not stay here ever. It should be condemned
The staff and facilities were good but guests were horrible.
It’s a decent place to stay for the night when you’re on road trip.
We had a reservation and chose not to stay!
Handy most that we liked
The reason for two star on unit 24 was… At 3am and again around 6 am we were woken up by a loud banging. Management might want to check the hot water system for back up pressure.
It was conveniently close to the main highway.
Decent
Very friendly
I will return to this motel whenever I’m in the area. It’s a great place for the price. Clean and everything is in working condition. Bed is comfortable
Was ok
We stayed at the property for two nights. We paid almost $400 (including taxes) for two night stay. The room had alive bed bugs. There were spider webs in the corners of the roof. The washroom door was getting stuck every time, as the hinges of the door were loose. Some of the light fixtures were not working. The bath tub was cracked. Towels provided were either ripped or still had some dirty spots. I went to the office to ask for new towels, I was given two towels, which were again ripped at the corners. I was told that they were running behind on the laundry. So overall, not worth the stay.
I enjoyed my stay plan on comeback very soon!
Good service.
Room is clean, lots to walk to close by.
Adequate, but one wondered about personal safety, and that of your vehicle.
The staff were very friendly and the room is very clean, great value
The area had a significant number of drug users.
The rating for this property for sure are made-up. This is not a property I will recommend . I booked because of ratings . The cooktop was rusty . Spider web in the room . Not a very safe area. Please don’t stay here look for a different place .
I have stated numerous times, I like the location and the cleanliness. Staff has always been friendly.
I love the location of this property, good value for the money and the shower has the best pressure of any I have had in my life, love it!!
The property itself was older, but well maintained and clean. The staff members are polite, friendly and happy to assist you. There is a lovely Diner on the property with delicious meals and very friendly staff. Some of the property in the surrounding area is run dot with homeless people laying on sidewalks.
Old bulding, shabby rooms, the ceiling plaster was peeling but the cleaning was good and the personnel kind.
Victoria Visit
It’s a great budget hotel had everything we needed, including a microwave and refrigerator.
Staff friendly and helpful.
Maybe this was "the best place to sleep" in town when it first opened but now its dirty furniture, old beds, very drafty doors, unsafe location with a lot of homeless people in the area.
We had a great nights sleep. Our car was safe and the room was clean
A cosy place to stay in Duncan
It's been years since I stayed at a Motor Inn. I was surprised and impressed by how well appointed my room was. The bed was comfortable, there was a nice shower and tub and having a small fridge and microwave was a bonus. I didn't go to the York House Diner, the attached restaurant this time but I hear they make a very good breakfast. I'm sure I will be staying again.
Pictures on the website must be old the property looks rundown and there seems to be some rooms rented by the month, large dogs barking and the tv’s on all night long, Police there to attend to some of the occupants, and the ambulance there twice before we went to bed. Not a peaceful night sleep with our new car in that parking lot. That being said the room was clean, and the water pressure and the shower head were on par with the Luxor in Vegas
Very clean, nice linens, lots of good pillows on the bed.
Room was clean but the area felt unsafe (parking lot needs more lights). Traffic noise was heavy as well.
