Cheap and cheerful, does the basics well and good value for money. Within walking distance from Oxford station and the shopping centre (at a push). Room is small, but cozy, good for a short stay.
A great stay for a night in Oxford. Convenient location walkable to city centre, and parking available with 2 spaces. Good selection of cereal, fruit, bread etc for breakfast as well as tea/coffee etc. Will return on our next night out in Oxford.
Dismal
We did not stay , walked in and walked out . Room was dismal depressing . I didn’t see but my partner said bath was dirty . Dirty windows on main road , no blind or net curtains , ground floor , no privacy until you draw curtains . Definitely not worth £100 .
Great host. Comfortable warm room. Super location. Clean and accessible. Great place for walking into Oxford.
Very nice room and comfortable bed. Breakfast facilities were good. Straightforward walk into the centre of Oxford.
Although the site was not staffed in person, this was more than made with the fact that detailed 'WhatsApp' was given in advance as to how to gain admittance to the venue. Many thanks to those involved....
It was perfect for what we wanted. We stayed 1 night and it included breakfast. The location was perfect to walk into Oxford town centre and not have to worry about driving and parking.
One night stay
Stayed here at short notice, room was comfortabale and clean. Service was great, I had a small issue (my fault) and the hotel was really helpful supporting
Lovely comfortable stay, very clean, good night sleep lovely pillows. Didn’t have anything for breakfast as it was too busy but it did look lovely
Property clean, warm and welcoming. Host very understanding and accommodating.
It was exactly what I needed, a comfortable room for one night. The room was clean and tidy with space to put things down (not always the case) and it was just fine. My only issue - but it wasn't too much of an issue - was that my room was right next to the front door so I heard as folk went in and out.
Basic, low price accommodation
Essentially a hostel. Not a terrible stay, but very basic accommodation in a basic, unimpressive (and poorly insulated) house. The room was in a dormer, and very, very small with a shared bathroom that only had a bathtub.
Good value for money. It would be useful to have a chair and a desk or table in the room.
The owner helped us carry our luggage to our room and next day to our car. Have you ever had an owner do this for you?
Great location
Really clean. Vety comfy bed. Good choice at breakfast. Allowed to check in early. Great location, only about a 20 minute walk to city center.
Strange place.Good price.Good location.breakfast fare.
The property was across the river from the main part of Oxford. There was construction near the bridge; however, it was clearly marked. The walk was several blocks away from restaurants and shopping. Upon arrival, my room was cold, so I emailed the owner, who appeared within an hour to bring an electric heating unit and to turn on the house's heat. The breakfast was self-serve with coffees/teas, fruits, pastries and cereals. All guests ate at the same table which encouraged conversations with people from other cities/countries.
Great value and getting your own bathroom is great for the price and location. Minutes from train station. It is not five stars.
We had a great stay at this small family-run hotel. Good value overall. The owner was very responsive (try calling directly), and helped with early check-in and leaving our bags for a late departure. Comfortable bed. Very good Continental breakfast with better options than the typical hotel - milk, granola, good coffee. Nice hot shower.
Lovely room, very big, breakfast included which was great, very nice place
Very accommodating. Able to leave bags. Supplied gluten free snacks and breakfast options. Clean and quiet.
Perfect for an overnight
Good bed, good pillows (and plenty of them) and my GF needs were accommodated
The Osney Arms was perfect for us staying over night while we attended a wedding near-by. Biplab was wonderfully welcoming and ensured we had everything we needed. Our room was lovely and had everything we could need. We’d definitely stay again and reccomended it to others.
We had a spacious room, which was great. The continental breakfast options were also great. The interior (and exterior) is in need of a very deep clean and paint refresh. It is looking and feeling worn out and tired. Adding to all this is the need to declutter, especially the dining room and kitchen. It was well located.
Great location
We arrived early and were greeted by a very pleasant young man who gave us our key and was apologetic that the room wasn’t quite ready. As it was only 10.30am we were delighted to be able to leave the car, use the bathroom and walk into Oxford. The room was quite small and could do with a paint refresh but it was clean and quiet and we had a great nights sleep.
Good location for centre of Oxford. Parking about OK. Owner/manager accessible when needed. It's what you should expect in a decent guest house.
Well presented clean and tidy
Rooms. Were clean The area is looking tired
The room we stayed in could use a fresh coat of paint and the shower drain unclogged.
There were snackss, clean rooms and nice people what more could you possibly want?
A bit forbidding from the outside, but very nice inside, and the owner was friendly and helpful. Very nice place!
Lovely hotel to stay in
Exactly what we needed and was a manageable walk in the town centre & back. I think a sign for the fridge would make it clearer that it's in the breakfast area rather than the kitchen but good selection for the continental breakfast
Location of the property was perfect, walkable into the centre of Oxford and also to where we were attending a wedding party. The breakfast was amazing and VERY generous. The only issue was the door to our room opened the wrong way which made getting in and out challenging, particularly with baggage!
Overnight stay
Easy access, clean and pleasant room, self service Continental breakfast was well laid out and plentiful.
Great value and super clean bathrooms.
Okay
The location was great if you are traveling by train as it is walking distance from the station. The property could be really nice with just a few upgrades, however the carpet and bathroom felt a bit dingy. The sheets and towels were of nice quality and very clean. There is no plug in the bathroom or near the mirror in the bedroom so blow drying hair was tricky. The breakfast was fine and the coffee was good.
This is not a five star hotel but a very comfortable, clean and convenient location. I will definitely stay there again.
We had no idea what to expect but everything was very good indeed. Breakfast outstanding and the bed very comfy. Will definitely recommend.
Guesthouse, shared bathrooms
This place is a guesthouse. This means you’ll share a bathroom and other common spaces with other guests. Had a top floor room. Shared a bathroom with four other rooms; this bathroom had no shower, but a shared bathtub. The place was fine and serviceable if you don’t mind the shared arrangements.
Very good location for sight seeing and reseraunts
The room we had was on the front of the building. So road noise was a bit of a problem. Not sure if some of that was due to the fact that just up the road the were major water works going on. The bed was comfortable. Like most hotel and guest houses in the UK. It was a little run down and could do with some tidying up.
Very nice host. We arrived well before check in time and he had our rooms ready soon after arrival.
Great place, well thought out and the room was spacious, very nice continental breakfast, great bed, and really worked well for us. The only negative was parking, lack of.
The sheets and towels supplied were spotless, which is very important, although the public areas were a touch shabby. The help yourself breakfast was very good. Parking was very hit or miss, which could be tricky in a busy and unfamiliar city.
There was only bathtub not shower in shared bathroom
Very convenient and accommodating.
Close of Botley Road
Everything was fine except for the difficulty of driving from city centre to the Guest House because of closure of Botley Road. Not the fault of the Guest House but it would be nice if this information can be provided, especially for people driving EV.
Very comfortable
Book with caveats
Be aware the owner isn't on site and you use a key box to enter property and find your keys labelled, but with all the other guests on the table inside. There is also a basket of spares in the same room and in the kitchen so room security not guaranteed. Car parking is limited to 4 spaces. Owner was helpful when I wanted to leave car til evening of departure day. plenty of choice for continental breakfast with good dating food hygiene labelling. Even more so there was good ingredients lists on everything.
Room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was simple but had all we needed, although not all guests had a great understanding of food hygiene! The owner was lovely, but the fool with a chainsaw in the garden at 7am on a Saturday was less lovely. Absolutely everything we needed and really clear instructions on what was what!
Was okay for a night.
Excellent hotel
Excellent hotel easy and had parking! Right next to town about 10 min walk from station. Fantastic would stay again!
Hotel stay
Happy with everything, clean and tidy, close to city centre.
Ad is misleading, property is unoccupied, self check in and out. Room very cold, no heating until 5pm and off by 9am in morning. Very limited parking. Property owner was new and responsive to issues.
We weren’t sure what to expect as the reviews were so varied. A chap met us upon arrival, our room wasn’t ready but that was fine as we were early. We managed to park at the front of the house. Our room was spacious, bed very comfortable. A fan was in the room but not needed. Bed linen and towels were nicely laundered, bright white and soft. Tea, coffee, biscuits, kettle in room. We were very happy with our room (no 6) Shower was powerful, clean, modern. Noise could be heard, or hideous, but that is to be expected when staying in a city. Windows weren’t modern but an effort had been made to cut out the noise. A lady was about at breakfast. It wasn’t the most amazing breakfast but it was free and the coffee was a machine with real coffee beams. There is one big table for all guests to sit around, little pots of greasy flowers on a all side tables. My overall impression was they were making a huge effort to make people welcome and make people feel at home. Pound for pound, and how close the hotel was from the centre I think we had a very good price and stay.
Disgusting carpet
The room cost £132.00 and the carpet was full of stains, I was pleased I had packed my slippers. The carpet was absolutely disgusting
Very helpful upon arrival and at breakfast time. Lovely spacious room and very clean. Great location for a short flat walk into the town centre.
To start with, I didn't receive any check-in instructions. Once I managed to contact the hotel staff, my key was left on the dinning table in a room accessible by anyone, so in the meantime, anyone staying at the hotel could have gotten into the room I was assigned. The room was very dirty and the bed had a blood stain of 5cm of diametre. The window couldn't be closed because both the window and the frame were severely damaged and I felt very unsafe given that the bedroom was on the ground floor. The hotel staff changed me to another room, allowing me to take a key from a wooden box in the dinning room that anyone had access to as well. This new bed had another blood stain of another 5 cm. There were also lots of dead flies and spiders in the window frames. The hotel staff said they would refund me one of the nights, as I didn't want to stay an extra night because of the above, and after doing my claim through expedia they said they won't refund me. Expedia hasn't been very helpful either as they have ignored my claim after submitting all the photos as proof. I would completely avoid this place, they are scammers.
Lovely little property, room very well presented. Breakfast was good only thing I didn’t like was having to sit round one large table with other guests. Walking distance from the centre and beautiful sights of Oxford. Plenty to see, do, place to eat and drink. Parking is an issue but that is just a local area issue not the hotels issue, we were lucky to get a spot later in the evening outside the hotel but only after parking restrictions had ended.
Its a good location for the event I went to . Travel in the area is tough right now with road closures. The room was ok but my tele was broken; the sinks have no plugs. The owner was polite when we spoke by phone. She called me quickly after i reported to the number on the door the next day as i arrived very late. The morning staff could not help as they lady spoke no English. Breakfast is very limited continental but not even a toaster. There was nothing for me day 1 but she did get soya and gluten free bread for day 2. It did have limited oarking but i was able to park there for the 2cdays no problem.
Terrible service
We could not access the front door because we never received an email with instructions. Checked our junk mail too. Didn’t know there wouldn’t be an on-site host. No answer to our phone calls. If a young man staying here hadn’t let us in we’d still be standing at the front door with all our luggage!
Self check in not easy
Self check in is not great. The bed was clean and comfortable. Location was good for Oxford centre.
Clean and comfortable
From the outside, looked a little rough. Inside a different story. Clean, comfortable and warm. Easy check in, check out. Decent breakfast. Good location for visiting Oxford.
Very odd place. Self check in badly managed, parking basically non existent. Old and tired place, cheap for a reason
Breakfast laid out previous afternoon so bread items already going stale. No toaster and room hot.
Clearly an ex-pub. Very limited parking and surrounding areas/roads were either Permit Holders Only or a few parking bays in nearby roads which were time limited. i.e. One hour only [and no return] between 08.00 and 18.00 hours Monday to Saturday. We are senior citizens [ages 75 to 87 years] thus movement of luggage from car to property difficult. There were not 4 parking areas but three which were all taken by our 3.30pm arrival. A third car straddled the little space on the frontage of property. These local restrictions over parking were not made clear during the original online booking through Expedia ! Re our accommodation. We were not aware that we had booked a room/bathroom for disabled persons. The bedroom was spacious and fairly well appointed and the bed/bedding very comfortable. As the Room 1 is on the ground floor and faces the main road with just a couple of metres from the public pavement, it needs blinds or a net curtain. We had to draw the thick main curtains mid afternoon in order to change or have some privacy. Also, the large disabled wet room/bathroom lacked facilities..No shelving to place items. A very small single tap hand basin which only delivered warm to hot water. No cold water to clean teeth or fill the kettle. Shower curtain is old, dirty and half adrift from the high rail. No toilet seat cover. Seat/hand rails/ grab handles etc all in black.....most unwelcoming although very clean. However the Continental Breakfast was well presented and adequate.
Not enough tea bags for 2 people also only 1 towel for showers. Would have liked to talk to a member of staff. No information about the roadworks
They should provide a toaster for breakfast.
Clean, good communication, comfortable room, decent self-serve breakfast. Ideal overnight stopover if walking the Thames path. No resident staff, decor looking a bit tired in places and a bit of traffic noise but overall perfectly adequate and exactly as described.
Overpriced.
The only good thing about this place is the proximity to Oxford. It is so noisy that even with double glazing on the windows and keeping them closed, the rumble of cars and buses can be heard all night. There were dirty towels left in our room. The room is tiny. There is no staff present so if you need anything--good luck. I stayed one night.
Carrying a huge backpack (The Beast), I really wanted a place close to the train station. This place fit the bill and was easy to find, clean and quiet. The only downside (to me - others might see it as a plus), is that there was no human interaction. You check yourself in and out, forage in the dining room for your breakfast, etc. Completely anonymous. Like I said, some might think that’s perfect. Pleasant walk along the river and great access to town.
Self check in is not great after a long trip and was not expected. It was probably an oversight on my part.
Very nice bed and bedding, peaceful and pleasant room and building.
B&B not manned but excellent room
Room was clean and spacious. Location is excellent. We had trouble getting in as the B&B is not manned. It took three attempts to get through to someone who had the pin code as i did not receive anything via email. It's quite strange to stay in a place and nos see or speak to the landlord.
Clean and fine for a stopover
The hotel was clean and beds were comfy. However our room was very snug and scruffy. There is very limited parking so we had to pay for parking elsewhere. Set in a nice, quiet residential area.
We stayed at the Osney Arms on 1 April 2023 as part of our walking the Thames adventure. Both rooms were clean and comfortable. We managed to park the car on site (2 spaces in the back and 2 in the front of the property) and it was in a great location for the Thames path walk between Newbridge and Abingdon. Breakfast was basic continental but fine for us. Property could do with a lick of paint outside but perfect for us.
Good points this property is on the main road into Oxford which takes around 10 to 15 minutes to walk. Bus stop not far either. Our room was clean and spacious, however the bathroom needed a little bit of attention. There was a lot to choose for breakfast however it could really do with a toaster or provisions of a cold meat and cheese selection. Parking near the hotel is a problem and with only two proper accessible parking bays at the hotel we were so lucky to get one when we got back from the theatre. Overall a pleasant stay.
Osman Arms Oxford cosy stay
Cosy and budget friendly place, great location, mattress could be better and way too many pillows:) - had to keep them on the floor . Very nice breakfast. Simple check in and check out.
After booking I had an email from the owner continental breakfast and self check in. A further email would be sent with instructions for entry. This wasn’t sent to me.On arrival There was no parking available.I had to phone the owner to gain entry .She text me the key code. We eventually got in to a very small bedroom.I then tried to park my car on the cul de sac road with no success. Only 2 parking spaces on the property, both taken. So we couldn’t stay and drove home.
Very basic bnb with few frills. Showers had bo soap and shampoo, but did have the standard towels, bath rug, etc. Bed was decently comfortable, two lamps, a small mirrow and dresser, and standing clothes hanger. Tea kettle station is room. Breakfast was cereal and croissants, nothing hot. Fruit available. Off the main road so a bit noisy, but not uncomfortably so. Really a Great bnb for the price
The property is an easy walk from the centre, so location is good. I had Room1 which is suitable to disabled guest, there was plenty of space. Some points to note - the paint in the corner of the room is peeling, this is because the wall is wet. - the bathroom kit for assisting showing is all rusty and mouldy - i didn't appear to be able to get cold water as it was one tap and that was hot - decor was generally tired, room needs some love - bed was comfy enough - breakfast is at best functional, bread but no toaster, no boiling water to make a decent tea. This is not a cheap stay, i payed £135 for one night, i have stayed in cheaper that were much better. I don't recommend this accommodation, it was a real disappointment
The room was horrible , dirty walls and carpet , window above bed that would not close , shower that was hard to turn if and went cold , peeling wall , mould and unpleasant. Tea and coffee provided but milk even though long life was off ! Didn’t have breakfast as looked unappetising . Really disappointed and spoilt a birthday weekend in Oxford
Don't stay here
When we arrived at 3:30 there was no one there. We called the number on the door and a woman told us that she had no record of our stay since it was only made the day before and we would have to wait until she made an international call. We waited and then called her back in 20 minutes. She then gave us the code to get in. Our room was upstairs, no elevator and it was the size of a walk in closet. London is in a heat wave and there was no AC, only a broken desk fan. Only one window opened and it was to a very noisy street. No mention of any of this in the description. There was no place to put our luggage except the bed. Over all very disappointed that a property like this would be offered by Hotels.com
Good value
Nice room and good continental breakfast. Very clean. Some traffic noise.
Stay was overclouded by a lack of curtain or blind at my window. Perhaps the room was halfway through some maintenance, I do not know. This led to privacy concerns, light coming in very early in the morning, & a little extra road noise. I think it justifies an apology & refund. I haven’t asked for one but would have expected it to be offered. Despite alerting the management at 9pm no solution was provided other than to try hang towels, no follow up the next day, & through my stay, I & fellow guests never saw any staff so the place felt a bit lifeless. I had hoped they would care about this & contact me before I had a chance to leave negative feedback. As proof I wanted to attach a photo of the curtainless towelled window but that is not an option here.
It was really very average
The shared bathroom option has no shower, only a tub. Not so good for getting off a plane and preparing for a wedding! Our room was on the top floor so the ceiling slipped in on both sides, we couldn’t stand up without bending over except for a small distance in the middle of the room. No staff is present, breakfast was not very good. Staff we did interact with on the phone was rude. Would have been willing to accept some of these things for maybe a third of the price.
For the price it was quite reasonable and very convenient (short walk to train station and town). Seemed strange not to see anyone else, staff or guests, for the entire time (one night stay)—very impersonal.
No staff onsite. Key box to get access was difficult to operate. No coat hangers in room. Machine for making coffee for breakfast did not work, though room rate promised breakfast. Manager did not respond to email. Very overpriced.
I like Oxford and this accomodation
Clean and nice
Me and my friend recently stayed here and the location is perfect. Affordable and within walking distance to the centre. The hotel is lovely and very clean with some character. A quiet location so you can sleep well. The only downfall was there was only 2 spots for parking but onstreet parking was literally opposite. Also requested a bath tub in plenty of time but heard nothing. Overall recommended.
The cleanliness of the room and the hotel also a good selection of continental breakfast items to eat
Limited breakfast
Poor breakfast, otherwise OK.
Overall experience was ok. Bed wasn’t very comfortable and due to proximity to main road you can hear the ongoing traffic. No access to dining table/kitchen between 4pm to 7am
A night in Oxford.
Clean and comfortable. But very hot in the room.
The property looked very tired from out side , and was worse inside , filthy carpets that have stretches and are baggy causing trip hazards, had a wash in sink to freshen up to find waste pipe disconnected underneath sink so all water went all over bathroom floor so had to use towels to dry floor , (so I fixed the waste pipe ) really hot room , thermostat was broken on radiator! (So I fixed that so we could turn down the heat ) . The electric tripped out , so after looking around with a torch i found the fuse box (turned that back on ) at 2am I had to wedge the middle main window with card to stop it rattling in the breeze , one of the outer windows is broken which doesn’t help keep noise out on a main busy road , cob webs all over ceiling, marks on ceiling, paint coming off wall in bathroom, This was meant to be a 50th birthday treat for my wife which didn’t go down well as she was wanting to leave , but we had friends coming to stay too so had to stop. They wasn’t very happy either , most radiator thermostats are broken through out the property , no where to warm food up for breakfast, fire doors propped open that should be kept shut , extension leads trailing around the floor , No staff on site at all , say a cleaner popping around at times , A full refund would be expected if anyone there on site to complain to ,, will not be using this place again .
Can I have a refund?
Very disappointed with our stay! The shower dripped & handle very tight. Trailing wires in our room, kettle felt hot upon touch, the lampshades were placed on top of bulbs that stood out of the shades, couldn’t control radiator as broken, wc seat was loose, bed without headboard, not enough breakfast for amount of guests etc etc
Very basic guest house and lots of road noise
Firstly there is no sign and guest house does not look like pictures Very basic accommodation.too much road noise and temperature was extra hot to sleep in the room We will not recommend it to any one
Mother and daughter
Car parking is tight on the front of the house cosy inside and adequate breakfast in a cottage style room however no dairy alternative milk or enough juice

Good value for money.
Outside of building misleading. Inside is clean and light. Our double ensuite had a view over the street, was clean and well equipped. Lots of hot water, radiators that can be adjusted, comfortable bed, tea making facilities. Very happy considering the price we paid. Breakfast was ok. Only issue is parking. We were lucky to get a place outside. Also major roadworks on route into town. But overall very good value for money.
