Walkable near Chelsea.
Friendly staff, comfortable accommodations, fun decor, great location.
Excellent
Have stayed in quite a few hotels over the years going back to the city for business and visiting friends after living there for for a long time; won't be staying anywhere else going forward. Could not have enjoyed my stay more.
Great Stay
Super quaint hotel with great staff. We enjoyed our time and the proximity in the Chelsea neighborhood.
Amazing staff. Charming lobby. Rooms are tiny. Bed isn’t very comfortable
Perfect location loved it . Staff was super nice.
Always stay here
Perfect
Great rooms, service, location rooms ran a little hot
Highly recommend- great location! Will stay here again!
Couldn't ask for better location - in Chelsea, near The Whitney, great food, drinks and shops. Safe neighborhood. Rooms are well equipped ( even make up mirrors), a bit small but perfect for a single or close couple. Breakfast ok. Inly negative : terrible coffee and no coffee makers in room. Would stay again.
From the minute we arrived, the staff at the hotel made us feel welcome. The lobby was beautifully decorated with the fireplace going. It was the perfect start to our trip. The room was well-appointed and the views were incredible. We will definitely be back!
Exceptional Customer Service at The Maritime
Extremely helpful staff - nothing was an issue. Room was clean and tidy, has character some of the newer hotels lack. Breakfast was good - with a selection of cereals / breads and cakes plus fresh fruit. Location only 2 Subway stops from Macy's / Madison Sq Garden. As a regular visitor to New York from the UK, we will definitely stay at The Maritime again.
A lovely room, comfortable and handsomely. Great location!
The sound of the club Tao gets vibrant in the room is hard to sleep in.
I stated here because Chelsea Market is across the street.
Chelsea river cruise
Great location in a stylish hotel. Good value for the location.
A very good hotel in a great area of New York. The lobby area looks a little tired but mostly clean. The rooms are very cozy and beautifully decorated. A little small for two adults and no King size beds available at this property
Excellent
The location is very convenient to walk to many locations. Like many NYC hotels the rooms are tiny and thus not great value for money. Breakfast was included, which was a nice touch. The staff were very willing and accommodating. As a Pied a Terre in NYC it's fine. I would recommend.
Great location, friendly people.
Love this place
I didn't really have any experience with the staff but the hotel was so cozy and especially lovely since it was freezing out. The location is perfect. It was quiet even though it's attached to a loud club. There was free continental breakfast. Even though the room was small per NY standards, it worked and the bathroom was a nice size and wow the porthole window was lovely. Would definitely stay again.
overall a nice boutique experience. I like the personalization of the staff. The sweatshirts are fabulous and the convenience of having the restaurant entrances right inside the hotel was perfect especially with the freezing temperatures. Love the fireplace.
TVs from 1991
Pls upgrade your TVs and get bigger size. The hotel needs better upkeep
An excellent and really beautiful hotel in such a great location. The staff were so helpful and nice, and my room was a great sanctuary on a really rainy and windy short trip to NYC. I love the cozy and warm feeling of the rooms, and the amenities were excellent too. I can't wait to come back and stay longer.
Great staff and very clean
Great Hotel
Room was attractive. Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good.
Great stay
Great location and nice staff. Rooms are clean.
The included breakfast was convenient, the mattress was a tad mushy for my comfort but the room was nice, the staff was extremely helpful and their clever “window plugs” kept the street noice at bay. Subway at the end of the block and Chelsea Market across the street for easy eats. I’d gladly stay again.
I love the Maritime. It's comfortable, convenient and stylish. Rooms are small but have everything you need, including a good mini-bar/snacks, robes, iron, and a desk. Chelsea market across the street has lots of amazing food options. The ACE and L trains are close. The included breakfast is mediocre. It can be a little noisy from the street at night, but that's nyc.
The rooms were clean and well appointed
Amazing mini-moon location
We spent a long weekend at the Maritime after our wedding. We were upgraded to a penthouse room with an incredible view, and a bottle of wine sent along from friends was waiting when we arrived. In the evening we went to their bar and had great cocktails, everyone was so friendly and the location can’t be beat.
We loved the location and quiet-a real refuge from NYC for good sleeping. The rooms are small but well designed.
The Maritime Hotel
The Maritime Hotel has always been a favorite of mine, with its charming nautical theme and excellent location in the heart of Chelsea. I've stayed here dozens of times and have consistently enjoyed the clean, comfortable rooms and the overall ambiance. However, during my most recent stay, I noticed a change in the level of service, particularly with the doorman. It was quite surprising that the doorman didn’t assist with the doors or help with luggage upon arrival. This was unusual and not the kind of service I’ve come to expect from this hotel. I even watched an elderly couple have to carry their luggage up the stairs while two doormen stood right there without offering any help. Despite this hiccup, the front desk staff remained courteous and helpful, and my stay was otherwise pleasant. I’m hoping this was just an off day and look forward to my next visit being up to the usual high standard.
Great location. The only minor issue was having to climb stairs with our bags to get to the hotel. Not a problem for us but for an elderly woman walking in at the same time.
Such a cool plaace! Staff was friendly and helpful and was just a easy non stressed place. I will definitely be back!
Fun ship theme
Excellent staff. Great location.
God Hotel Chelsea
Great location and stylish and cool hotel with night clubs and restaurants but quiet. Good service and clean and comfortable. Overall great experience
Great location, close to chelsea market, little island and whitney museum.
Lovely rooms, great location, no sliding door to the bathroom.
great place. Wonderful staff and a great room
Location is incredible. Walking distance from a lot of great spots. The complimentary breakfast could be better
Lovely, laid back property. Very friendly staff! Clean rooms and comfortable bed. Nice bathroom with good amenities. Breakfast was adequate.
Very nice. Quirky in a fun way.
The location was ideal and the staff were very friendly and kind. Unfortunately the pillows were extremely flat and bed did not have a full set of sheets on it. Also, while waiting for the excel at or on the 5th floor we saw cockroaches running along the floor and elevator door.
Nice circle window makes boat room, nice architecture building.
Amazing place and the location is perfect
Good Hotel with cool design in a very cool area with lots of options for whatever you want
Will come again.
Nice hotel. Friendly staff.
Look forward to staying again
The Maritime theme is unique and historic. The hotel is charming and beautiful. Hospitality is outstanding. The staff are very efficient and helpful. The location is great with the Chelsea Market just steps away for food and shopping. This is my second stay and I will return for future visits to the city.
We had a great stay - everyone was professional, very helpful and kind. The room was exceptionally quiet and the bedding super comfortable. The lobby is exquisite - perfect place to unwind, talk and be relaxed (and perfect for pictures!). We'll be back for sure.
Smaller room if traveling with someone but king room design so functional you will have ample for one. Clean and comfortable perfect for short term stay
Great unique property near so much to see, eat, and do. Close to several train options
Good
Gross - Room Smelled Like Cigarettes
Woke up the first morning, and my room smelled like cigarette smoke. I told the front desk, and the guy said “Sounds like somebody’s smoking.” Right… he then continued, “There’s very little we can do but they can be fined.” Great, but that doesn’t help me any. No offer to switch rooms or comp anything. I had a return trip booked for December which I promptly canceled. While ar the hotel I Googled “Maritime Hotel smoke” and saw another person had this experience in January. Not cool. Got sick staying at this hotel, and would not recommend to anyone - and I really wanted to love this place.
Fabulous Stay Across From Chelsea Market
Amazing, friendly staff in a wonderful, convenient location. Great breakfast, outstanding in room amenities including an invigorating, relaxing rain shower. Highly recommend!
Rooms are small but adequate. As a member of Preferred hotel, we should have gotten an upgrade. It didn’t happen.
Good place
Amazing. All great
Good location, rooms ok, could hear TVs in next room which a pain if sleeping
Staffs are nice, comfortable room and good location!
Stylish hotel
Like a pricey motel
Not worth the price, small room and bathroom where the toilet seat can't fully open and pay off the toilet seat is under the sink, dirty pillows, and the window opened to a stone wall and pipes. Motels have better breakfasts too.
Give me a bass beat. . . .
Very convenient location for where I needed to be, but I don't know if I would stay again. It was absolutely fine, but the room was TINY and with Tao nightclub next door, I could feel the bass beat in my chest until it closed in the wee hours of the morning, even with earplugs in (they provide them). If I were younger, I might have loved this hotel more!
Great location!
Very pleasant stay. We enjoyed the "ship interior" decoration.
The place is perfect location
Very friendly, helpful staff. Fun aesthetic theme, like a Wes Anderson film. Small (normal for NYC) but comfortable rooms.
a beautiful place
Very mixed
Street noisy is intense at night. Never experienced anything like it and I’m originally from NYC. Breakfast is dismal. The gym is on lower level, beside trash rooms that exude a formidable stench. Room was small but well designed. The lobby has a sitting area that is very nice. Location is convenient to theater district by subway. But I don’t think I’d stay here again. Too many negatives.
Beautiful, clean room. Quiet location.
Great hotel. Would stay again. Pros: Good location, friendly staff, free coffee/breakfast, clean Cons: A little loud with honking next to club on Sat night, but they give complimentary ear plugs (which I didn’t use)
Staff was super! Everyone was so friendly and helpful Only complaint the room is a little small as many of the newer hotels are these days.
Very misleading photos and descriptions on this site -- it's a rip-off. The hotel was cool when it opened several years ago but looks like it has not been refreshed at all since. While my room was clean, hallways smelled musty, rooms not soundproofed, fabrics frayed, windows not soundproofed and lobby too dark. Breakfast? You can find better in a two-bit highway motel in Oklahoma. Ridiculously overpriced. Crazy extra fees and/or taxes. $200 deposit taken on your credit card without your permission. Avoid this place. Shame on all of you. I have complained to "Preferred" Hotels -- a sham association though.
Beware of the stairs. There are 13 to get to the lobby. There is a small street- to -lobby elevator that is not obvious and must have a “bellboy” to operate. That can be inconvenient. On the plus side the staff is helpful and knowledgeable. The decor is unique, the bathrooms have walk in showers, and there is a dining on the premises.
The cruise ship vibe is alive and well here. Thoughtful design for this historic building. Love the warm and cozy wood designed rooms with just what you need without any senseless extras if you will just be sleeping there. Great Chelsea location. Shout outs to super friendly front desk crew.
We liked it
Nice place, close to the subway, chelsea market, a playground and bball court - nice included breakfast and coffee - comfy room - nice staff
An overall great stay. A bit of music noise until about 2 A.M., so try to avoid lower floors if possible.
Great location in Chelsea
The rooms were small but the location was excellent. We were able to walk or take the subway. We had dinner in the village and walked back to the hotel. We were also able to walk the skyline. Yes, we would stay here again. Also, a continental breakfast is included!
Everything was fine. The facility was clean and neat.
Excellent staff, quaint lobby with books, clean rooms, comfortable beds, nice shower; Chelsea is nice with good restaurants, cafes, bagel shops around. Morning buffet breakfast is very good. The intersection (16th Street & 9th Avenue) is a bit busy at night. But, the windows are well insulated.
Great hotel will definitely stay there again !
We enjoyed the maritime themed hotel. The hotel is one block from the Chelsea Market and just a long block to the Subway. As with the rest of NYC it is pricey, but I’d stay there again.
See above
Rooms are small, but attractive, clean, quiet and comfortable. The location is convenient and have stayed here several times. My only complaint is the continental breakfast. It was terrible. Weak choices, instant oatmeal, HB eggs and mediocre bread and pastries. Unappealing. The water was not even hot for instant oatmeal. The coffee was undrinkable. Free continental breakfast is a great perk and timesaver if quality improved.
Nice hotel and spacious. Would recommend staying here.
I like the calm, customer-focused vibe
Booked the room with city views on my birthday to dine at Tao Downtown and got a room on the 3rd floor with views of a very ugly roof top. Carpets are old and dirty. Room was really basic with no coffee. Breakfast quite basic. No one to help with the doors at the entrance.
We had a great stay!
All great
Love this hotel!!
Fantastic hotel. Beautiful room, extraordinary atmosphere, super helpful staff.
Very nice but a little dated! Extremely comfortable bed and amazing shower! Also, the breakfast, while complimentary, could have been higher quality.
It is a convenient and quality hotel in walking distance to Chelsea Market and Little Island. The room window and walls have good insulation, so the room is quiet. The hotel is thematic and provides quality personal amenities/accessories (the part I like the most). The room is small, but everything is supplied. The queen bed can be small for two adults. It is nice that complimentary breakfast is provided until 10:30 AM, but I hope there can be some hot food. Overall it is an excellent hotel in a good neighborhood of Manhattan with the price I paid. I will return if the price is still good.
Wonderful hotel for a quick trip to the city. Perfect size for the room and had a cool circular window. We really felt like were were on a ship!
The hotel was very clean. The staff was great. The location was really great too with Chelsea Market and The High Line nearby. The things I didn’t like: stairs to enter the building; very limited continental breakfast in an area with only bar seating; air conditioning in the room which was not adequate.
Great Stay
I recently stayed at Maritime Hotel during a business trip to New York and I must say it exceeded my expectations. Travelling from Ireland for work, comfort and efficiency were key for me, and this hotel delivered on all fronts.
Still beautifully designed but dated. Did not enjoy being able to hear music and conversation from took next door
Great place to hang your hat for a night or two
Great, funky vibe. Staff is all genuinely nice and the rooms are SO cool, modern with a nautical twist…
