A couple nights at the Drake
Incredible price for Canmore. We needed pet friendly. They were great. Gave us a creekside room. Complimentary drinks and mad specials at the attached pub. Room was hot first night. The thermostat failed. They had it fixed immediately. Great views, comfy beds, clean, super central to downtown. Hotel is older but was fine.
Great little place with lots of amenities within walking distance. The room was clean but stayed very warm day & night, even with the thermostat set to 10c, so had to run a fan all night. Couldn’t keep window open as it opened onto a busy street with lots of vehicle and pedestrian traffic. Having the pub in the same lot was nice for a quick meal. Love that The Drake has pet friendly rooms! Front desk staff were very friendly and helpful.
The Inn is surrounded by beauty, great staff. However we could have had a bigger stock of toilet paper in the room we had to buy more when it was after hours. Also no microwave in the room but that was probably something I missed when booking! I also wish I could have gotten the room darker, the windows let in a lot of light and my baby couldn’t sleep. Beautiful scenery. Overall good stay
A bit older building, expected for the price. It was quite hot inside the unit, and we had the heat at 10c. With an open window, in February. Not sure why it was so hot. Acceptable for the price and location is fantastic.
Comfortable basics
Overall it was a great stay with basic necessities. Would stay again. Updates are needed for the sink area and bathroom.
.
Amazing property!
Very convienent to everything.
Great spot beautiful view!
Friendly check in, clean room. So happy I picked this Inn. It’s very cute and great view facing the creek.
The drake in bar service is bad
The hotel was not bad, but the bar service was horrible.
Great location and great people working there. We will be back.
It’s an older building with some excellent renovations, at least in our space. Everything from the bed, TV, shower, worked very well. The checkin was smooth and the receptionist warm, friendly and efficient. The location is hard to beat if you like to walk to dining and coffee. Lots of options an easy 5-10’ stroll away. We would definitely stay again.
Nice place for a few nights
Not a bad place to stay overnight in Canmore. Amenities are fine for the price.
The stay was great. The room view was amazing.
Rooms are very run down. For a hotel in Canmore, this place should be updated/renovated for the amount you pay. ($260/night - this is a $99 truck stop at best) Not insulated for sound well at all, you can hear everything going on in the rooms beside and above. Lots of people coming and going until early in the morning. Wont be staying here again. Would not recommend.
Brenda and her team are the best. I have been staying here for years.
The room is minimally equipped. It does not have hair dryer or kettle.
Good rooms. Well kept. Fabulous location.
Awesome Three sisters sunrise view and few minutes to town center.
Older property, could use some updating on the exterior but the rooms were fresh and clean. Comfortable beds and friendly staff. Overall great stay
We really enjoyed our stay and were pleasantly surprised at our king suite that we had booked on the third floor. The ladies at reception were really lovely and check in/out was a quick and easy. We loved having the family restaurant attached to the Inn which made last minute dinner plans easy. Thank you Drake Inn!
Best view..
The Inn was very great.
The rooms and property are pretty run down. The staff was very nice, and the area around the property is beautiful, however it is definitely in need of an update.
Nice staff at reception...
Property is dated but exceptionally clean. Nice to have a restaurant on the property and food and service was great. We will be back.
It's not a hotel, but a motel. Rooms are spacious, but bathroom is quite small and dated.
Great
We came in earlier than check-in because we just happened to arrive early, the front desk pwrson not only very kindly let us check-in early, but was just incredibly kind, lovely and a true pleasure to meet. The space is so cozy, (Im in love with the soap selections), beautiful views and just an all around marvelous experience. We have most definitely found the spot we will be loyally using going forward! Thank you to you all! :)
The room we stayed in was renovated at some point in the past few years, though not very well. In the washroom the toilet paper dispenser was broken off the wall and had some gummy material keeping it somewhat "stuck" to the wall; but unusable as it was right by the toilet and whenever you bent over you hit it and it would peel off the wall. Kept the toilet paper atop the tank for 4 nights. The room was right above the outdoor patio, most of the reno'd rooms are facing that direction unfortunately. It was warm, and with no AC, we had to keep the sliding doors open but closed the blackout shades otherwise the people dining below and walking across the street could see your every move. If there was AC would could just close them at night without feeling like we were in a sauna. It was a noisy as the pub was open until 1am and, cant blame anyone for having fun, but yes, loud music, talking, and obnoxious intoxicated people made it more loud into the night. Again nothing AC and isolating patio doors can't fix. For the high price, these simple improvement could mean a repeat stay. We head to the Rockies every year for long stretches of hiking... this could be a great place.
It was not bad Well, the professionals in the hospitality industry knows what can be done to give a good experience for their customers.
we recently stayed at this place for one night, and it was far from pleasant. Upon entering our room, we noticed it was dusty and even found spiders around. It felt unkempt and uncomfortable. Our experience took a turn for the worse when we returned to the hotel late in the evening like around 10pm. We saw a drunk guy in the parking lot who approached us, making us feel unsafe. This was not the kind of environment we expected. The next day, when we checked out, we wanted to share our concerns with the front desk. The staff member we spoke to was unhelpful and dismissive. After explaining our issues, she said she would talk to her manager but returned with no resolution. Instead of an apology, we were told that we were simply seeking a discount. We weren’t asking for that; we just wanted to communicate our experience. Her rudeness left us feeling even more offended. Overall, our stay was disappointing, and we won’t be returning. There are definitely better options out there.
I was disappointed to find out that the actual property was not like the pictures. Broken everything including the shower and the outside property.
The views!!!! We had an amazing view of the mountains. The bar/restaurant was great. Nice staff. Expensive for what it is, but everything is expensive and this property is very clean and nice. I would definitely return!
Staff at the Drake were incredible! Friendly and helpful! Very approachable too. Thanks Brenda for a wonderful stay!
Needs major renos inside and out
I have been here many times over the years and have never been disappointed with the Drake!!! It’s wonderful and I highly recommend it to everyone!
Close to main street
Simple and clean accommodations. Walk to the centre of town. The view of the mountains is exceptional, particularly from room 226.
Love this hotel! Great location and super friendly staff. Great pub as well.
We stayed 2 nights. While the outside of the property looked a bit run down, the room was well presented and had the required amenities. Close to 8th street which has good food places. Staff were friendly and helpful.
Restaurant
Large room with a great view! Easy parking, friendly staff. Would stay again next time
Excellent location! Friendly staff! Beautiful views of the mountains!
Basic and clean
This place is very well located. It is basic in terms of amenities, but it was very clean.
The shower knob was broken but was fixed right away. There was no hair dryer but they provided when requested.
Thankfully, the room was better than the exterior looked!
Very nice staff and quick to solve problem. Hotel doesn’t have air conditioning. Which sometimes can be an issue on a hot day. Our room was over a pub that extended outdoors. And across the street was another. So on the weekends if you have to leave your windows open to cool off, it was very noisy. They did offer in-room fans. Very scenic views!
I really enjoyed our stay here. We got a wonderful view of the creek and the mountains, it was close to one of the more popular bars and downtown was all walkable. The rooms didn’t have AC and it was hot after the afternoon sun hit but it quickly cooled off with a fan and the door open. The only part that wasn’t clean was the ceiling in the bathroom had some mold, probably because the fan wasn’t making enough ventilation. The rest of the room was very clean and so it didn’t bother us much
It is an old hotel with average facilities. But very nice service and welcoming staff.
low amenities
The property is old and could use updating. The locks on the windows and patio door and screen door were broken.
Yeah its the Banff area so stuff is a little pricey, but damn over 300$ a night and the bathroom has rotted floors and massive caulk repairs on the tub.
Friendly staff and the location . Just in the heart of downtown .
The carpet needs to be replaced. It looks so worn-out and dirty. The room smells like hospital with strong smell of bleaching formula. It is not comfortable to use the toilet. Will avoid this place next time.
Tired and dated
On arriving we were hit by the poor state of the exterior. The room was very tired, but clean and comfortable. Only 2 coffee sachets were provided daily, giving us one cup each. The whole place is in need of some serious tlc, web photos are very deceiving. As for the pub itself, it was dire!!
Great place
Good cleanly place.
Clean and very convenient.
Our stay was very good. Close to Banff and the Lakes. It ws very satisfying and they were on the news because they were helping fire victims from Jasper.
Great view downtown. Noisy at night.
Awesome never disappoints
The Drake Inn is a clean and quaint older motorlodge walking distance to downtown Canmore. The staff was wonderful and the views were great. The Inn is right off the creek side path making for a nice walk into town for food, shopping and drinks. The rooms are a little tired, especially the flooring and bathroom. However, everything was impeccable clean. For the price and proximity it is a good deal close to Banff and all it had to offer.
The Drake Inn in Canmore offers an overall decent experience. While the building is old, the rooms are clean. However, there are no elevators and no air conditioning, which might be inconvenient during the summer months.
The room itself was clean. The surriunding area with the neighbourhood bar made it noisey at closing with lots of patrons coming out of the pub at the same time.
Great customer service..Though no airconditioning. The slide doors with thenscreen helps to bring in air when opened. Staff are so.friendly and welcoming..the room is very clean andhave a nice virw of.the mountains
No air conditioning Extremely noisy with bar Air quality with smoking
Disappointed
Run down hotel top dollar rate exceptionally helpfull manager we had a problem with car and he was very helpful
It is a decent old motel room that is clean and has been upgraded. However, No Air conditioning!!! My bad for not noticing this prior to my booking. The room was horribly hot as the temperature 35 Celsius most of the week.
I had a wonderful stay. The staff was incredible nice and attentive. I had an incredible view of the river and mountains. There is not AC (as advertised). I was there during a heatwave on a 92 degree F day, and it wasn’t bad. Great overnight temp, just a tiny bit warm during the heat of the day, so no AC wasn’t an issue even during record temps. I’d love to stay here again.
No air conditioning and fridge in the room made a loud buzzing sound. But everything was clean. and location was great.
The front desk people were friendly and very helpful. Great service! The weather was hot and we didn’t have A/C, and it wasn’t a problem. The room was cool overnight, great sleeps.
Food in the pub excellent.
The property exterior is so run down. The pub at night is sketchy. With no AC the rooms get really really hot and it’s so loud at the pub that you can’t have the screen door open. Canmore is a beautiful town but this hotel is excessively overpriced for what you get.
It was great
The hotel was clean. Bathroom was recently renovated and very clean. Towels were thick and thirsty. Beds were fairly comfortable, a little on the firm side. IKEA linens. On the downside the room was oppressively hot. I was warned ahead of time that there was no ac but I wasn’t expecting a room in the mountains of Canada to by close to 30 C from three pm to midnight. Had the window open for hours and it was still very hot. Balcony and exterior of building was quite run down. Needed painting badly and my room (26) had a sticky patio door. A little maintenance is certainly needed. Window ac would dramatically improve this room during the summer. Would likely be an excellent winter, spring, fall room. Very pretty view.
Comfortable and clean room. Little balcony with a great view.
Property needs renovation, but rooms were clean. Attached pub had excellent food.
Quality of the room is bad. I mean moldy bad,the bathroom tiles falling of the wall bad, awful quality of the renovation attempt bad. Bed linen, towels cleanliness and the room facing the creek are the only advantages considering how much we were charged for the room. We stayed at the Malcolm for 350/ night with a brand new Reno and phenomenal hotel. We were charged over 415/ night for this nonsense. Very disappointed.
On policeman creek and central location. Property is tired and needs a facelift.
Clean, old, low cost accommodation. It is what it is, good cheap short stay accommodation in a good location
Very clean bedding and nice stuff. However it’s an outdated hotel.
Room was good. No iron in the room. Didn’t change towels next day. Fridge wasn’t clean. When asked was done on the spot. Parking was very tight. The only thing we didn’t like parking was very tight you can’t park and get out.
😁
A hidden gem. Super friendly staff and very affordable to stay. They don’t have air conditioning but that didn’t matter for a May vacation. My only complaint is the blackout blinds could’ve been better. Bring a sleep mask and you’ll be fine
Loved how friendly the staff was and how clean the room was. Bed a bit hard but convenient location.
Really enjoyed our stay
We always enjoy staying at The Drake. Great value, really comfortable rooms & beds and no pet fee (they take a deposit which is ofc refunded if no problems with your dog). Location is also great right by the creek. The Drake is a great place to stay and this time we discovered a kot more of Canmore
Amazing view
Won’t stay at drake inn anymore
The room wasn’t clean enough, bed sheets hairy, bathroom not so clean, bathroom fan so loud, very noisy area, basically regret paying 340$ for one night as that was too pricey & not worth it
Good location, nice view of the creek. Nothing amazing, plumbing was knocking on walls which was slightly annoying. Drain in bathtub was barely draining.
Loved that the view from our room were the mountains and within walking distance to downtown.
Great
Great
Place was very clean, staff friendly, well organized and price reasonable.
We were there to see my son play a show
Perfect location, lots to do and great views from the balconies. Cant wait to come back.
No surprises. At $90.00 you don't expect to much. Room was clean, beds were comfy TV was adequate. I would stay again.
All was good. The exterior definitely needs a paint job. But over all, our room was good, great deck/creek view. Just needs upgrading and some TLC. Staff was great. Pub was handy. Great location. Would stay there again for the right competitive price.
This hotel offered exceptional views, location and service. The room was very basic but was very comfortable and clean and certainly cost effective. We enjoyed our stay and the check in check out service was great.
