Tastefully restored & decorated mansion house with beautiful grounds, unique breakfasts, and a short walk to downtown Ashville
Wonderful B&B
Adorable house in historic Montford area. We stayed in the Magnolia room. It was very spacious with a comfortable bed and accessible bathroom. Our hostess, Alicia, provided fresh baked snacks and beverages all day long. The breakfast was absolutely delightful - especially the baked apples! There was even a singer on Friday night along with the happy hour. There is a gorgeous pond in back of the main house - just watch your head, as the property features a massic walnut tree and those suckers are heavy!
Good but not great.
Mattress too soft for us. No standup shower in the room we were given. Food was good, not excellent for the price of stay. Owner and staff never smiled.
Courteous, pleasant, clean, beautiful surroundings and indoors.
The location was fantastic. It was walking distance from several very good restaurants and a short drive from even more. There was a nearby walking path that went to UNC-A and to the Botanical Center. A nice easy and wonderful walk. The breakfasts were great and the selection of coffees and teas were perfect. The room and house was well appointed and the furnishings were like art.
Everything was perfect
Anniversary getaway
We had a great time at this B&B. This was our first time in Asheville. Very clean, super cute with lots of extra perks. Close to downtown- very walkable. Breakfast was so good and loved the happy hour as well:)

We loved our stay here! The breakfast was fantastic and we walked everywhere. Highly recommend staying at the Black Walnut, we will be back!
Great Getaway
My wife wanted to see the Biltmore at Christmas so we booked this place. Wonderful B&B. The owners were great and the breakfasts were awesome. A short walk to a great restaurant was fantastic
This was our first bed and breakfast and we fell in love with it we will definitely be staying there again
The staff were all warm and welcoming. My husband and I were late to breakfast and they did not hesitate to keep us fed and happy anyway.
Beautiful stay in the Camellia room. Great location! Loved the morning breakfasts!! Alicia and Daniel are amazing!!
Beautiful place in a great location.
Beautiful old building in very good condition. Breakfasts were extraordinary. Enjoyed sitting on porch for breakfast and chatting with other guests. Close to downtown and tour bus.
Overall just a lovely, charming place. We enjoyed it thoroughly.
A beautiful historic house, with an incredible staff. Breakfast was 5 stars, location was awesome, and our room was comfortable. I will stay here again!
Beautiful historic B&B located within walking distance of downtown Asheville. Excellent breakfasts and friendly service.
The house was BEAUTIFUL, owners and staff so friendly. So close for walking neighborhoods or downtown. AND the breakfast was 5 star, amazing. All around you could feel the love the owners had for their business and home. They make you feel at home, beds and linens were soft and comfortable. If I could give them 10 stars I would.
Excellent experience.
Very nice furnishings. The property features a couple of nice water features and a coy pond that is very soothing and peaceful. The owners are onsite and attend to details of service including an awesome breakfast ( they give Chik-Fil-A a run for customer service !!! ) Dan & Virginia / Augusta, Ga.
Artistic area, beautiful B&B
First time in a B&B and it did not disappoint. We took a weekend getaway for our anniversary and figured Asheville would be fun. . We stayed in the Dogwood room. Our room was the one in the upper left hand picture of the main house. Cool little crow's nest style room. The food at the B&B was so good and the host was friendly. Best oatmeal cookies around! Parking was a little tricky, but we parked on the street. That to us was much easier than parking in the back. Check out the Biltmore House. Words can't describe this place. Here are a few restaurants we ate at and loved. Stoney Knob Café (Weaverville), Strada Italian (Asheville), and Cantina (Biltmore Village). The beer scene is excellent. Sierra Nevada or Catawba are two of our favorites. Enjoy!
Beautiful old house with time appropriate furnishings. Very comfortable and cozy!
My husband and I had a fabulous stay for our baby moon here. The owners are the most personable/sweet people and go above and beyond to make your trip memorable and for you to feel special. We would absolutely recommend and hope to come back again sometime!
House was beautiful and super clean . The owners are charming and we felt welcome. Great breakfast too. My wife and I would stay there again.
Our stay at the Black Walnut B & B was a wonderful experience. The breakfast each morning was a real delight. The new owners are caring and really great hosts to the residents. All the antiques in the rooms are beautiful. I enjoyed morning walks through the neighborhood with a early prepared (by our host) cup of coffee. We will stay again!
Excellent Hospitality
My stay at The Black Walnut was beyond exceptional. The hospitality exceeded my expectations and the owners of the inn were so accommodating and friendly. I can't express enough at the gracious hospitality I received during my stay. The owner went above and beyond to make sure our needs were met. I will most certainly refer this B & B Inn to friends and family. LOVED The Black Walnut B&B Inn!
Beautiful home.. great location.. food was excellent.. Bed was uncomfortable too hard for me ..
Beautiful
Beautiful! Lovely home with friendly staff. Clean and quiet accommodations.
Very clean, peaceful. Incredibly respectful staff, very flexible with check in and check out. Highly recommend for a romantic night away.
Fall Trip
Amazing place. Amazing Breakfast! Close to downtown. Will be back.
Wonderful experience...
Great place...and greater people!!! We really enjoyed our short visit.
Lovely stay - Don't hesitate - book now
Wonderful bed and breakfast in the quaint Montford district. A couple of great restaurants within easy walking distance. The hosts are very welcoming and hospitable.
Great bed, Great Breakfast, amazing B&B!
Amazing B&B! The food is to die for, the hosts were very helpful and kind. The location is convenient to downtown (and an amazing restaurant named Chiesa).
The owners of this B&B totally get that it is not only about the physical home but the experience.
The breakfasts were culinary experiences. The service was perfect. The home is majestic
Wonderful place to stay!
We stayed in the Camelia room. It is beautifully decorated, spotless, full of charm and character! The Innkeepers, Alicia and Daniel, were fabulous and friendly. We enjoyed our stay very much!
Black Walnut
Hospitality galore!! Gorgeous, elegant, with a breakfast fit for royalty! Am going home to try to duplicate the quiche as well as the fruit compote (dressed with the candied blanched almonds!!! Yikes, what a treat. Thank you Danial, for the unforgettable experience!
Asheville beauty
I very beautiful home.
Beautiful 1890's house with wonderful hosts. Wine and cheese reception in the evening with a delicious breakfast in the morning. Will be coming back!
One of the best stays I’ve had in awhile! The owners were over the top amazing with providing such an amazing
The owners and staff of this property were incredibly accommodating and warm to us staying at their B&B. The rooms were clean and quaint with many nice details. Breakfast was delicious. Definitely would stay here again!
There was a huge hot tub in the room. And the staff there were friendly and helpful. Not to mention the gourmet breakfasts!!
Gorgeous property and very friendly staff! We will certainly be making a stop here every year from now on. Thank you for your hospitality!
Lovely stay and ownership.
Everything was very nice. The house is lovely, and the new owner is a kind person. The only problem was that heat didn’t seem to reach my room, so I needed to use the space heater provided. There was no mention of this from staff that this might be the case. I was quite cold until I picked up the space heater and moved it into the bedroom portion of the room. I also left the room to see friends, so couldn’t leave the unit on. It was very cold when I returned and took a long time to heat up the room. Two suggestions. 1. Communicate this issue to guests upon check in. 2. Provide 2 space heaters so that guests don’t have to lift heavy radiator type space heaters from room to room.
Owners were wonderful, friendly . Beautiful old home, lovely grounds. Breakfast was great. Would come back here again.
Beautiful house and excellent service. We will stay here next time for sure.
My wife & I celebrated our 55 th anniversary during our stay. The room was beautifully appointed and very comfortable. The owners and other guest made our stay very enjoyable. The gourmet breakfast was delicious. We are planning to return!
Loved this little inn. It was easy for us to check in and there is a fun Jamaican fusion place just up the street. Beautiful neighborhood. Would stay here again!
Our stay here got off to a slightly rocky start after a booking snafu that was entirely related to our use of a \third-party facilitator. I strongly advise anyone considering a stay at this truly unique and wonderful bed-and-breakfast, reach out directly to the host who will meet , If not| exceed your every wish and expectation. This property is historic in every way that is relevant to Asheville. It is within walking distance of the information center where additional transportation options will take you to everything of interest. The property itself has unique rooms that are comfortable and character filled . However, I must save my superlatives for the hospitality and the breakfast. I suggested to Lori before I left that she consider writing a cookbook as her breakfast specialties were truly some of the most delicious food I have ever consumed. Asheville is a culinary destinations and the breakfast at this inn are well worth adding to your trip!
A magical place with a wonderful staff! We will always stay here when we visit Asheville
Outstanding stay, staff, facility, and food! Owners were the best!
Great Inn! Loved connecting with everyone at the hotel and the staff was amazing. Great Breakfast
The bed and breakfast was absolutely gorgeous and so clean! The food was delicious and they thought of everything from the wine and appetizers to the desserts and hot chocolate waiting on us after we returned from dinner. The owners were very personable and we will definitely be returning!
There are not enough stars to award this Bnb! A lovely stay in a beautiful part of Asheville. The property, the owners, the room, the breakfast, cannot be beat anywhere. A must stay!
Great innkeepers with fabulous 3 course gourmet breakfast.
What a comfortable respite of beautiful proportions! My girlfriend and I arrived on Friday afternoon to check in with a vivacious, informative "Nickalena" that was very helpful and made us feel at home. The beautiful Inn is elegantly furnished and provides wonderful opulent visuals. The incredible breakfast is enough to want to make this special place a repeat destination. Peter and Lori were so very gracious and accommodating and they are why this is more than just a "B&B." The Black Walnut Inn is a Bucket List destination.
The house is stunning, my room was dreamy, and the food is delicious.
Everyone was very welcoming and attentive to our needs. The breakfast and afternoon tea time were delicious! The B&B was beautifully decorated for Christmas. Great location! I definitely would recommend to others.
The hosts are the best hosts I’ve ever experienced at a B&B. We felt like we were in our own home! You really get treated well at this place. Will book again!
Fantastic experience from the moment we arrived - right on time for the afternoon tea and wine reception. The hosts including Linda and Elizabeth were so gracious and attentive. Linda even made us dinner reservations to help us celebrate our anniversary. Peter and Lori ( the owners) have set the bar so high that I am not sure I will ever find a better experience at a B&B. A great find!!
Enjoyed our stay so much we added an extra night. The clean, well kept historical house had the amenities we were looking for. The inn keepers are excellent hosts and were very helpful with providing local recommendations for sightseeing and dining. Breakfast was excellent each morning as well as the desserts shared during afternoon teatime. We highly recommend the Black Walnut Inn.
Lovely place!
It is a wonderful place to stay especially filled with the warmth and comfort and overall atmosphere. Had a fantastic time and would definitely recommend staying there again
Amazing stay! Breakfast was very yummy! We stayed in the Dogwood room, and it had so much character.
We absolutely loved this bed and breakfast!! The owners were fantastic. We felt right at home. The food is out of this world. An anniversary trip we will never forget!!
We were so excited to stay at the Black Walnut. The lady that greeted us was incredibly warm and friendly. The owners, unfortunately, were not as friendly. They were rather rough and rude to be honest. A couple of disappointments about the stay: When we arrived, our room was wonderful. Big, spacious and clean. However, when we went into the bathroom, the previous persons soap and empty containers were still sitting in the shower and the sink was full of plants that apparently needed watering. Our room had a fireplace (40 degrees while there) and we had to ask for a log each night to use the fire. On the first night they provided a lighter but it did not work. No one was on the premises and when we called the number they basically said "figure it out on your own", they weren't going to come back to the property for that. Poor customer service. Breakfasts were good but you only have 1 hour to attend. And again, the owners came across as very abrasive, almost like it was an inconvenience to have guests. On the last day we were there we had to check out by 11am. Our flight was later in the day so the owners said we could leave our luggage there and come back before the airport. Unfortunately when we arrived back about 3 hours later, the door was locked and no one was on the property that worked there. We had to wait for someone to finally come back in order to get our bags. Property was beautiful but overall we were disappointed by the experience.
Lovely B & B. We stayed there 2nights and found the accomadations to be exceptional...Our room was well appointed, the service was outstanding, breakfast and 5 pm h’ordeuves were exceptional. We highly recommend staying here!
Enjoyable stay in a comfortable room. Friendly owners with fun tales and gourmet, delicious breakfast. The cost is a bit high and there were a few rough edges, but overall enjoyable stay. Recommended.
Beautiful B&B. Lori and Peter were wonderful hosts. The food at breakfast was fantastic. Highly recommend.
Thumbs up!!!!!!
Where to begin...location was great. Beautiful park like setting but close enough to hike downtown. We stayed in the Dogwood room, very charming (and same room Sandra Bullock stayed in...hubby said "need I say more" l. Peter and Lori were fabulous hosts and the breakfast and happy hour was delicious. Best waffles we've ever had. Thanks for the wonderful mini vacation....
Beautiful and well-kept property, elegantly furnished! Friendly and accommodating owners and staff.
Lovely entertaining hosts with incredible tales. Beyond comfy beds! Beautiful planting china antiques ambiance!!
Beautiful Bed & Breakfast!
We had an amazing stay at the Black Walnut. We got married in the garden by the pond. The owners are super friendly and helpful. The B&B is very close to downtown Asheville and just a short Uber ride away. We will definitely go back on our anniversary.
Asheville Getaway
Our stay was well worth the going rate. The Innkeepers were very hospitable and know the area well - from restaurant recommendations to outdoor activities, including hiking trails. Breakfast was particularly good, 3-course servings of creative breakfast dishes. Afternoon tea included hot and cold items, sweets, and a varied wine offerings. A+ rating!
The hosts were so warm and welcoming. We got in around 5 and Linda brought us wine, beautiful and delicious appetizers. Breakfast was delicious and Peter was so helpful ad charming. Our room did not have a shower, only a double jacuzzi bath with handheld shower head. They offered for us the change rooms,, but we declined. Overall very lovely.
Excellent stay.
