The staff was very helpful recommending restaurants, and areas to avoid. Helping us feel welcome and safe.
This is a great property and a very convenient area for walking to several historical sites. The staff was wonderful a rooms very clean and spacious. The only drawback (especially for older guests) was the lack of a lift. Carrying luggage up and down steps that are old and somewhat uneven was difficult. Staff carried some of our bags up on arrival, but we carried them down ourselves. Great place other than that one thing.
Loved this bed & breakfast hotel. Wonderful room with balconette access to the plaza and beautiful views. We were given a bottle of wine and espresso at arrival and continental breakfast each morning. Monica was very helpful with directions everywhere we needed to go. Would love to stay there again.
Monica was so helpful! We really enjoyed our stay! Would highly recommend!!
The room was great and the location was phenomenal. The staff offered great recommendations and assisted in coordinating transportation to the airport after our stay. I’d highly recommend this to anyone on their visit to Rome.
A beautiful place to start while taking in all Rome had to offer. A quiet retreat from the crowds
The room was nice and our host was lovely and helped us as soon as we arrived to get familiar with the lighting/card key system at the facility. The host answered all our questions about where to eat, where to go off the beaten path to get some amazing photos. It was a nice plus to have breakfast of pastries, fruit, juice, yogurt, etc. to start our day. I would easily recommend this B&B to anyone.
The bed was very uncomfortable and I didn’t like that there is no reception
What a gem! It was so close to many attractions and the Piazza right outside the front door was full of restaurants and shopping! Monica was so helpful and made our stay that much better. This place is a perfect get away, and we would love to come back and stay here again on our next trip to Rome.
Location is great. Room was right over a restaurant, so very noisy. Bathroom smelled like old urine. Shower needed a caulking job as there was black mold around the whole thing. Very small breakfast room with minimal choices for breakfast. Bedspread was old and pilling. Bed and sheets were very comfortable. WiFi connection was bad.
Lovely hotel in the most perfect location. Our room had no view but it was quite spacious for Rome. Monica was very helpful in suggesting places to visit and making restaurant recommendations and booking a taxi to the airport. Wonderful stay!
Superb location in Rome within walking distance of everything we wanted to do. Would highly recommend to anyone wanting to visit the city!
Nice hotel with clean soft bedding. Our room overlooked the Piazza and a great view but wasn’t very big. The couple we were with had a room on the other side of the hotel and they didn’t have a view but the room was huge with a separate living room. Overall a great little find. The only downside was having to climb a very large an old staircase to the rooms. There was no elevator.
Historic building in perfect location. The room decor was very nice. Great staff. Clean rooms. The only drawback was the staircase- no lift due to historic bldg. Also no news channels available in English. Satellite seemed to be down. Otherwise fabulous!!!
Excellent location for walking in the city. Mostly quiet although there was a late Tuesday night concert lasting until perhaps 11 a.m.. At least it was soft rock. Clean with a great host.
Awesome time! The hospitality was fantastic.
This is a small, older property with lots of charm yet modern amenities. Monica, the property manager met us as we walked through the front doors to check in and we were pampered until we left. She booked airport transfers, taxis, and made dinner suggestions that were on point. The best part about this property is the location. You are in the very heart of Rome and can walk to many of the attractions. There is also a taxi stand close by and we never had a problem getting anywhere in the city. The only drawback are the steps leading into the hotel foyer as ther is no elevator. Rome is a very special place and so is this lovely hotel.
Fabulous location, fabulous assistance. A great stay. Our room was wonderful. Thank you!
The hotel is 1 minute from the Pantheon. Nice location and you only have to take your luggage up and down the stairs twice.
We loved our stay here! When we first arrived we were able to find our way to the office and check in and the staff was very friendly and helpful. We had a view into the square which let us enjoy the atmosphere of Rome. We were able to walk just about everywhere within 15 minutes. We would highly recommend staying here! Thank you again for the amazing stay.
Property was in a good location close to restaurants and Pantheon and Trevi The “reception” was only manned the day we checked in, no one was there the next 2 days. What was not okay was that we had cold water for showers, freezing cold for 2 days. There was no one at reception to tell. I’d pick another next time
3-day mini holiday in Rome
The hotel was right next to the Pantheon Square, the room had two windows that looked out to the lovely church opposite and the bars and shops outside. The bathroom and walk-in shower was excellent with plenty of hot water and fresh towels daily. The wardrobes were spacious with hangers provided. The breakfast facility was good with plenty of fresh fruit, cereals and yoghurts available. The staff were very friendly and helpful, with one even helping us book our Vatican and Coliseum trip. I would definitely recommend this hotel for anyone wishing to stay in central Rome
My wife and I had the most pleasant stay here. Monica, the hotel employee, was wonderful. She was always very attentive to our needs and so helpful. We loved staying here and would definitely come back. The room was just what we needed and the breakfast was great.
Thank you to Monica who was so welcoming and provided so much advice on what to do and where to go especially places to eat. The room was really comfortable with a beautiful view of the piazza below.
It’s in the heat of Rome where you have everything at walkable distance restaurants, shopping and monuments
Property is a good walking location for many sites. Staff is WONDERFUL, and very helpful.
Thank you!
We had a great time in Rome! Monica was an amazing host. She welcomed us with a delicious bubbly glass of wine as she recommended great restaurants and things to do while in Rome! She was the best. The staff was great too—the breakfast spread had many goodies and the cappuccino was simply amazing!
We stayed here on a long layover. The hotel is in the thick of it. It is right on the Piazza della Maddalena. The Pantheon is a brief walk away. Our room overlooked the piazza and was beautiful, clean, and cool with stylish bathroom. Highly recommended.
Nice location. Staffs are very friendly and helpful. Hotel amenities can be better.
Our family of six enjoyed our 5 night stay at this lovely hotel. We booked two spacious rooms with lots of storage. Room 1808, offered privacy for our son and his family. Room 1797, gave my wife and I an awesome view of the piazza. Breakfast was great and Monica helped us out with friendly and insightful conversations while providing excellent restaurant recommendations. We highly recommend this hotel.
Perfect thank you and it had real AC
Location was amazing. Host was great to talk to and helpful with suggestions.
Hotel was lovely. Located right by the Panrheon. Lots of places to eat. Monica was excellent and so helpful.
location is excellent
First, you need to know that the hotel is more like an Air B&B. The entrance is between two restaurants; you would never know it unless someone helped you. It is a cutout door on a larger door, so you second-guess yourself. When you enter the door, you will see steps going to the second floor to the small receptionist desk where you check-in. The suite was nice and (cool), which was a welcome addition, as not all hotels have good air conditioning. The manager was very accommodating, and we enjoyed our stay. Remember, it's in the heart of the city, so getting to this location is not the easiest task.
Lots of character and spacious. Great location. Most everything is walkable or short taxi ride. Staff was very friendly.
The manager was very kind and helpful. A truly wonderful lady.
This is a wonderful place to stay. The staff was very helpful with everything that we requested and offered even more options that we didn’t consider. Highly recommend this property you won’t be disappointed.
Monica helped us while we stayed here and even before check in was incredibly communicative and helpful, she let us know there was a bike race the day of our departure which could cause issues getting around so helped us plan a taxi around that so we made it to the airport on time. The property itself is in an incredible location, literally a 20 second walk to the pantheon. Because of this location it's tough to get to by car in the middle of the day, that being said our drivers managed and there were no problems. Our room was upgraded while we stayed here so it was very spacious with a whole big closet, big bedroom and bathroom. There was breakfast included, and the cappuccino was amazing as well as the breakfast spread. There is a buzzer for the building and for the ante-room that we had to enter before our room and in the morning that was pretty loud and active. There is no elevator, this is an old, authentic building in a beautiful plaza. There are restaurants outside of the hotel where we had dinner our last evening and there was live music in the square which was magical, yet our room remained quiet. The room was stocked daily with bottles of wine, snacks, water, and mini fridge. I'd rate the hair dryer in the room a 4/5 - typical hotel hair dryer, less powerful than one you might have at home but gets the job done.
Perfect for Sightseeing!
We had the BEST stay here. The woman at the front desk is amazing. She helped us carry our bags and just treated us soo good. The room was so beautiful and huge and the breakfast was delicious. This hotel is in the middle of everything. I have stayed many places in Rome and this was by far my favorite.
My husband and I stayed at Relais Maddalena and we absolutely adored our time there. Monica was incredibly helpful pointing out several restaurants and attractions in the area. All of her recommendations were amazing, take her advice on restaurants especially. All of the major attractions in central Rome were about a 20 minute walk or less. We could see the Pantheon from our window. The area felt safe and welcoming. The room was large and clean with charming decor that added the right level of modernity without losing all of the charm of the building.
Rome
First time in Rome. Hotels, location was great. All staff reception and breakfast were helpful and knowledgeable. as a side benefit, the bed was very comfortable had a room with a view of the plaza, which was also good.
This was the best location ever!!! Walk to Trevi Fountain, Pantheon basically everything was within walking distance. We walked to Vatican and Colosseum. Rooms were beyond charming and everything and everyone at the hotel was simply amazing!!!
The hotel staff were extremely helpful. The room was nice with plenty of places to store our things. We spent five nights there and would definitely repeat. Perfect location to explore Rome’s top tourist sites and very charming view from our window. Lots of really good restaurants in the immediate vicinity.
Walking around
The Relais Maddalena is a little oasis in a bustling part of Rome. The accommodations are comfortable, and the bistro for breakfast is a perfect way to meet new friends. Monica is a gem and helped us navigate some tricky transportation. She’s friendly, knowledgeable and made us feel very welcome. We would definitely book this property again.
Location was key for us. Very short walks to major sites of interest. However, Monica was exceptional! She helped us with our luggage, climbing one flight of stairs, providing detailed sight seeing, restaurants and taxi service assistance. She made our stay very comfortable and pleasant. The room is fairly small and kept nicely. A quaint Breakfast provided was much appreciated. We would stay here again for sure.
A beautiful place with a lot of characters. The location is excellent and in the middle of everything. Loved the girl Monika at the reception.
Great area and wonderful service,
You cannot go wrong with the location. 1 minute walk to the pantheon. Up to 20 minutes walk from all the attractions. It is a wonderful cozy historic building with only few room and wonderful staff. They are very helpful in any request and help solve any issue. The room was very specious, clean and equipped. Just know you have to go up 1 flight of stairs to get to the room.
Great location and walked easily to all the sites
Would stay here again!
Prime location. Clean, safe and great breakfast
The hotel is first class… run by very professional and friendly staff. Went out of their way to make our stay special
This property's biggest highlight is the location. It is a stone's throw from the Pantheon and the Jewish Quarter. The room was spacious and clean. The bathroom was neat and clean and we had plenty of towels. Monica was amazing with respect to recommendations for food and visits. She helped schedule our taxi for our next day departure to the airport, and the taxi was on time and extremely professional. We forgot one of our bags in the hotel and they had the bag waiting for us when we made our way back to pick it up. We so appreciate that!
Great location and great staff.
We really liked the hotel and the location was ideal for walking to all the main tourist spots. The staff were really friendly and helpful and added to the whole experience. We would definitely look at staying here again on our next visit to Rome.
Lovely hotel in perfect location
We had a great 3 nights at this hotel - the room was lovely and window looked onto a beautiful square outside. Room surprisingly quiet in spite of central location. Breakfast with fresh fruit, cakes and toast / cheese and meats all fresh and tasty. Coffee / cappachino made to order. Would recommend.
Monica and the rest of the staff was amazing. We would stay here again.
Subject: Positive Feedback on My Stay at Your Hotel Dear Relias hotel and management I hope this email finds you well. I am writing to express my utmost satisfaction regarding my recent stay at your hotel in Rome. This was my first time visiting the city, and I must say that the experience has been nothing short of remarkable. The location of your hotel is perfect as it is close to everything I wanted to explore during my visit. It made it convenient for me to navigate the city and make the most out of my time there. Additionally, the cleanliness of the hotel exceeded my expectations, making my stay comfortable and enjoyable. I would like to specifically mention the exceptional service provided by Rachel during my stay. Her pleasant and friendly demeanor made me feel welcome and valued as a guest. Her professionalism and willingness to assist with any inquiries I had truly enhanced my overall experience at your hotel. Based on my positive experience, I wholeheartedly recommend your hotel to anyone looking for accommodation in Rome. I am grateful for the excellent service and hospitality I received during my time at your establishment. Thank you once again for making my stay in Rome a memorable one. I look forward to returning to your hotel in the future. Warm regards, Joey
Glorious location and the front desk staff was amazing
Stay in Rome
This hotel was the coolest hotel I’ve ever stayed in. Our host Monica was an absolute angel and our time in Rome would not have been the same without her. She recommended so many good places to visit and food to seek out and was so fun to talk to. The breakfast was awesome. Monica told us to try the cappuccinos and they did not disappoint. This is the only place I will stay if I ever come back to Rome. 10/10
Monica was AMAZING. Very welcoming. The room was wonderful. Fantastic location. I would absolutely stay here again.
This is a semi Airbnb type of a hotel which gives you the feeling of living in Rome rather than visiting. Rooms are on the larger side, clean and comfortable, breakfast is basic but good. It is very central, few minutes walking distance to Pantheon. If you want to get the feel of the city it is perfect but if you want a hotel with a lobby and 24/7 receptionist this is not the place for you.
This place is walking distance to many historical sites. Monica was amazing and knowledgeable to the area.
We had a wonderful stay here, it was the perfect location for a weekend in Rome close to everything. And Monica was so helpful and couldn’t do enough for us. A gem of a fund
Week in Rome
My husband and I really enjoyed the week stay from the moment we arrived at the door till we left, they made you feel right at home. Very helpful with any questions you had, to where to eat and arranging transportation to and from the airport with ease. The location was fantastic, walking distance to everything! The only place we took a taxi was to the train station for a couple of day trips, and there was a taxi stand very close to the hotel. Would highly recommend staying here and we definitely would stay here again!
Staff are excellent, location is unique and the room is very comfortable
Great rooms and perfectly located in the hearth of Rome
Old old
Lovely place in ideal location
Located in the heart of the historic part of Rome near the Pantheon. Ideally situated for the key sites. Great advice and recommendations from the management/owner - she was incredibly helpful. Big room overlooking the square in an old building. Ideal.
Fantastic location!
Close to everything. I was looking to stay near a lively area and this didn’t disappoint. Very old building but beautiful. Customer service was wonderful. Nice breakfast every morning.
Be aware the people at this hotel will steal. I would not recommend to stay there. Very unsafe. First time in my life i have this experience. Despite this the entrance is a stairs and stairs so if you arrived with the baggage there is no way to bring it to your room. Also this not a Hotel this is a guest house.
Convenient location
Very friendly staff. Location is excellent for Pantheon, Trevi Fountain and Colosseum. The Vatican is only a 30min walk away. Thank you for your great service Monika.
The entrance hallway to the stairs up to the level of the rooms was really dreary and dingy. The breakfast room and the breakfast options were really bad. I only tried it on one occasion and never went back. Our room was nice but a bit faded. There was even a patch sewn over a hole in the bed covering. I guess I expected more for the price. It was definitely not priced for what was delivered and while our stay was pleasant enough, I would not return.
Loved the location, easy walk to various sites of interest. loved that it was formerly a palace with some of th eoriginal architecture still in place. Not having the front desk staffed full time meant we didn't have the opportunity to have some questions answered, but that was a somewhat minor issue.
For an older property with an authentic feel the property was good. For check in helpfulness Monica was excellent. However.....This property does not have an elevator to reach the rooms which are all at least 1 floor of steps up from the street. In addition they do not employ anyone to help the guests with luggage. We were 2 65 year old women with 2 heavy bags each after 2 1/2 weeks in Europe. When asked for help with the bags to check out the day before our morning to leave, we were told there was no one to help us and they could not risk their staff being injured helping us with our suitcases to go down the flight of stone steps. When I said - you don't want to see us get injured either, I was met with attitude. I feel there should be a disclaimer on when booking this hotel to let older people know about this issue. I was very disappointed with their lack of care. I have had 2 back surgeries and have never stayed at a hotel that didn't either have a elevator and/or someone to help with luggage. Also, somewhere between putting my suitcases out in the hall on the cruise ship the night before we left, staying at this hotel, and flying home, I am missing $640.00 of souvenirs that I am positive I packed. Can't say it happened at this hotel, but I have cruised and flown many, many times and I have never had this happen either.
The history of the building and convenience of visiting major sites(providing you don't mind a reasonable walk along streets full of character) is second to none. After breakfast is over ensure anything you may want in the way of food/alcohol you buy from the local stores, there is nothing available in the way of room service. We booked the pick up and departure service through the hotel and it was worth it.
Absolutely perfect location next to the Pantheon. Monique made the stay even more pleasant meeting every need Even the unexpected ones. Felt like we were visiting an elegant home
This is the perfect location for walking around Rome. It's located one block from the Pantheon, shops, restaurants, a beautiful church in the court area. For US travelers, the entrance may seem quirky, but the stay is wonderful, rooms are clean. Monica is great!!! breakfast is typical euro continental. No elevators for those who need to have one. We will stay here again.
This hotel was fine for a solo trip to Rome. Room was not at all as nice as pictured. It was clean. But it is in a noisy location and the breakfast set up was quite noisy at 6am. The staff was lovely and helpful. If you want the center of all activities, the location can not be beat. Your driver may have trouble dropping you off due to the business of the piazza
It is next to one of the square and they had music so we could listen to the music in our room, also everything was walking distance , dining was easy. We arrived like 8 in the morning so we were planning to leave luggage then come back to check in, however staff ( kitchen manager) was so nice to let us eat breakfast while they made our room available, so we could check in. It was so convenient and staff was very nice. We really enjoyed our stay!!
This was the best hotel we ever stayed at. Staff was amazing and so helpful. Will definitely stay again.
Short but sweet stay
Fantastic location, wonderful and helpful people, nice rooms. Only two minor issues… - the hotel was hard to find due to lack of signage. There’s just a tiny plaque next to a giant door in the middle of a restaurant patio. A quick phone call solved it. - Bath supplies: didn’t like the bath towels. Small and rough. Didn’t provide shampoo, only liquid soap dispenser. Now that I know how to find it, the bathroom concerns wouldn’t keep me from staying there again.
Would not stay again.
Pros: 1. The room was large and had plenty of space for 2 people with a few suitcases 2. The location was great, near the Pantheon and all the big sites in Rome were a walkable distance. Cons: 1. The Bathroom was not very clean. 2. There was black mold growing in the shower. 3. The shower didn't drain and the drain cap started floating around in the shower water once you were in there for more than 2 minutes, pretty gross standing in whatever was coming up from the drain. 4. The sheets and towels all had some degree of stains on them and the towels were so thin and rough they felt like sandpaper 5. While the location is good for seeing attractions it is NOT a quiet spot, you're right above a restaurant and piazza where a lot of musicians played until10-11pm while we were there, so if you need to get to bed early expect some noise from the resturant or musicians. We paid 350$ per night and feel like it was a big rip-off and not what we were expecting based on other reviewers.
This is a most charming place. The property managers are most attentive, kind and welcoming. I would come back anytime💕
Beautiful old building perfectly situated in City walls. Lovely room everything on your doorstep.
Charming hotel with original features dating back to the 1400’s with a view of the Pantheon. Staff goes above & beyond for their guest.
Fabulous hotel steps from the pantheon and central to almost all the major historical sites within the old city. Staff are friendly and helpful. This hotel has a unique charm in a 500 year old building with wonderful character. (There is a flight of stairs to enter the hotel so folks with mobility issues should be aware). The hotel is unique and has a personality that imbues the area within which it can be found. We would certainly look forward to coming back to this location in the future.
The location is very central. The room we had was very nice with a rustic feel. Monica was very nice and was very helpful with whatever question we had
This property is very well located to things you want to see. The staff were extremely polite and helpful. The breakfast had something to make everyone happy. Would definitely stay there again. Thank you for a great stay!!!
We loved our room and the staff was great
Great location. Room is nicely appointed and spacious. Super helpful staff - even before we arrived they helped us with logistics.
This property has a lot of history and is located in a prime location walkable to all major attractions and lots of key restaurants. The receptionist Monica however is the highlight of this stay. She is the kindest person ever and goes above and beyond to help you feel comfortable and find all the great spots.
Fantastic boutique hotel
Great hotel and very accessible to shopping, food and attractions. We will stay here again. Staff were so friendly and English speaking.
Beautiful hotel with excellent customer service. Charming street views and very close to the Pantheon and Trevi fountain. During this very hot summer we very much appreciated the cold Air conditioning! Thank you Monica for your assistance during our stay.
Incredible location, amazing hospitality, rooms are big, clean and well-kept with very good air conditioning. Excellent breakfast with lots of choices, and of course, the freshly made capuccino for you. Easily 5 out of 5 stars for the accomodations and the whole staff/owners. LOVE the Relais Maddalena
Monica was great! and so is the breakfast lady, they are very helpful and nice to talk to! They made our stay at the hotel memorable! Being able to do the laundry for reasonable price is great! Superb location, close to main attractions. clean and home feeling! We truly enjoyed staying at the hotel!
Staff was very helpful …. Good location once you find it .
