Worst Radisson Blu Hotel in the World

This is the worst Five Star betel I have ever slept in in my God giving life, everything in the hotel room and the building are falling apart. As to the restroom, I won’t even allow my do to use it. The hotel is so dirty that I had to checkout without sleeping there and the dirty hotel refused to issue me a refund.

Does Not Live Up To The Four Star Rating

Property is tired and in need up an update. Many things in my room were broken. I am a frequent world traveler and I understand that there will be occasional problems with a hotel room that can be tolerated – especially in a developing nation like Mali. However the number of and severity of problems with the room I was given was unacceptable and far below the standards I expect from a Radisson property. The common areas are also run down - several lights in the lobby were burned out, light fixtures in the pool were detached from the wall and floating by their wires, wall murals in the restaurant were peeling off the wall, atmosphere music in the restaurant was distorted due to broken speakers, etc., etc., Normally I can overlook things, but in a four star Radisson property, these are unacceptable. A VERY discomforting thing was the smoke detector in my room was covered with a plastic maintenance shield rendering it inoperable. Compromises in safety features is dangerous and intolerable. For the money, I would recommend staying at the Azalaï Salem or Grand Hotel. Even a stay at the lesser priced/rated Onomo Hotel was better maintained.

People are nice but the place could be cleaner for the price they are charging. Lights are too deem in room. The sink somehow sprinkles water on you because of the stopper at the center of sink. The tv channels are not organized. The telephone could be replaced it is dirty and missing a tag on a button that you can’t tell the function

A secure location for rest! The service was excellent, rooms immaculate. The location? I am not sure of its convenience, unless you are doing business in town. The breakfast was excellent. I used this as a short recoup between business trips - the pool environment was extraordinary.

This place is tired and dark. It could use a renovation and some more attention to the small things. The breakfast is average and the room amenities lacking. The staff try, but they’re still not as polished as other properties in the chain where I have stayed.

Not worth the price or hassle

They charged me for an extra night when I changed the dates of my stay a week before I was to check in. Then, they would not honor the prearranged rate with the USG without my cancelling my reservation entirely and having it booked by the USG directly. The condition of the rooms is deteriorating. You can tell it used to be a nice hotel but lots of things are broken and it doesn’t look like there is any push to fix things when they break. The spa is just OK and the rates are very expensive for Bamako. The food is the same. It’s acceptable but way too expensive. The service was polite and attentive, but they were not at all accommodating about a billing problem. I won’t be staying here again.

Broken Air Conditioner, no hot water, rude staff, did not take Amex, ATM did not work part of the time, staff lied about free shuttle, strongly suggest finding any other hotel in Bamako. I travel for work and have spent over 1000 days in hotels in the last 10 years. This is the worst hotel experience I have ever had.

Overpriced 2 star place to be avoided

This hotel is hugely over-priced : accommodation costs double what it is worth, food and beverage has European prices for very low quality, the sauna/hammam has to be paid for (by hotel guests !). The standard should be much higher for prices close to 200 euro per night. Everything that this hotel has on offer is just very average. It does not meet basic standards. The following are quality issues that have arisen in a short 12 day stay. 1. Security. Above all, for a place where 25 or so people died in a major assault in 2015, the security is full of potential breaches, e.g. emergency exits are unusable because the doors fell into the locks (broken), electricity went away for a full night without any corrective action being taken unless after contacting the reception, outsiders can just jump over the neighbours' walls, security screening is ineffective, UN peace keepers were spotted a few times (maybe three times) and then were invisible in-house (they are chatting outdoors all the time, and smoking), twice I have seen armed guys that were visibly probably not even 17 years old (probably external security companies). 2. Room : not enough light ; bath tub stopper not working ; toilet does not stop leaking water ; air conditioning not cooling the room and making a lot of noise, towels smelling heavily and not fresh, fridge cooling insufficiently. 3. Breakfast : every day exactly the same on offer. Warm dishes almost inedible. Waitresses sneak under your arms to take away you

A let down

I travel a lot and am in hotels most of the year and this was one of my least favourite experiences. 1) I emailed and the hotel confirmed an airport pickup. No one showed up. I called the hotel and they told me to get a taxi. 2) The light in the toilet (mirror) was not 100% functional. I could not shave and even after asking 3 times, this was not fixed. 3) the rooms are nice but not well designed. They are very dark, the toilet paper dispense is right by the commode and you cannot sit straight without your leg hitting it. 4) there is no shower (so no "quick" shower possible) and the hand shower had sand that came out with it. No shower curtain means a wet bathroom everytime. 5) The service was either really nice or just awful. I observed that this was person specific. I was helped by very helpful and smiling staff but then was met with complete indifference and attitude by others. 6) I asked for a late checkout and was given 3 separate options by 3 people (and never took late checkout in the end). These included paying by the hour, paying a half day or getting it for free. 7) When I asked if I could have a shower before leaving for the airport (I stayed in the lobby the afternoon I checked out) I was directed to the outdoor pool showers. Really?!! Positives include the food was good and the security seemed great. I wont be staying here again.

Best choice for your stay in Bamako

Without a doubt the Radisson Blu is the best location to stay in Bamako! The events in 2015 have prompted significant enhancements to the physical security of the facility making this the best choice for your stay. The staff is eager to please and respond quickly to your requests. I didn't travel out of the hotel area and was quite content with staying on the property for my short stay. The hotel is in need of an upgrade. The furnishings are aged but still very serviceable. I kept my room at a chilly 19/20 C which keeps the mosquitos away. Remember this is Bamako and mosquitos are a fact of life. I didn’t experience any issues here as a result. Great shower with awesome water pressure and plenty of hot water. Clean bathroom and acceptable towels that although aged were soft, not scratchy. Two bottles of water in the room each day which were used for brushing teeth, drinking and making coffee. I would order a large bottle of water in the restaurant and take back to the room for additional water (I like my tea and coffee). There is an electric tea kettle in the room. The room also has an electric trouser butler to press your trousers. Definitely would choose the Radisson on my next trip.

Nothing too special.

All restaraunt meals were Buffet, and not of the highest quality and very expensive for what they were. No master card acccess from the hotel auto bank. Staff in the shops are more interested in their cell phones than serving a customer. So called Hotel Taxis are not very different to other taxis and very expensive.

Nice hotel given the location...not in town center

Hotel is nice overall. Staff at the reception are pleasant. The room I had was kind of unusual in shape, had a bar in one corner (not stocked of course) with a working refrigerator, a tiny balcony overlooking the parking lot, a desk with a TV above it, a bare bones sofa across from the TV. Bedroom is adjacent and bathroom with tub and rainfall shower and main sink is just to the left of the bedroom. Lots of closet/storage space and in room safe. Floors of room were not well cleaned, when I got on the bed my feet had debris which showed up on the bedding including hair that was definitely not mine. I spilled a bit of water on the floor in the living room and when I wiped it up, the tissue came back filthy. Other than that, the room was very nice. Room service food is ok. Gym is fine as well though some of the machines were out of order. There is an ATM machine in the lobby.

Radisson Blu in name only

Arrived on the Monday 3rd April and the restaurant opened at 18.30. I went in at 18.40 and the buffet food was already cold and dry. The restaurant manager explained as I walked in that it was self service, which I already knew. This was his last attempt at serving until I asked for the bill. I signed and he asked "where is my tip " which made me feel uncomfortable because in my book, good service deserves a tip, not for just being in the same room.Next night I decided on room service. the phone didn't connect so I had to go to reception to place the order. The desert I wanted was not available and some 50 mins later my steak arrived. burnt on the outside raw on the inside accompanied by reheated chips, when I had ordered dauphine potatoes and sauteed carrots. The meal looked and tasted disgusting. Wednesday I decided on Pizza .. surely this would be adequate ... wrong .. so the best tip is do not eat food in the hotel

Standard Hotel with very expensive prices

I dont think this hotel deserves the Radisson Blu hotels stamp. The security has been beefed up after they had an incident which I appreciate. However, the hotel itself in terms of cleanliness still leaves much to be desired. However, if you are in Bamako you do not have many choices which I am sure the owners know and understand. The pool was nice and the rooms were uniquely designed. In any other city they could not charge these prices and provide such a low quality product. One thing I can say is the staff was very helpful. Can not praise them enough.

Poorly maintained hotel

We stayed there for four days. We could see it once was considered a luxury hotel, but due to poor maintenance, it now feels really worn-out. The light bulb in the entrance/hallway of my room was out (it was never replaced during my visit), the towel rack was missing in the bathroom (I had to hang the towels on the desk chair after each use), etc. The worst was the water. It was intermittent during the first three days (water frequently stopped and we had to wait for up to five minutes before it came back), and on the fourth day, there was no running water for the entire afternoon/evening. (The problem was just with the hotel and the rest of the district/area seemed to have water without intermission.) Not being able to take a shower after a sweaty hot day was a bit of pain - especially when you pay so much for the room. Staff were nice and the bed was comfortable, though.

Arrived late at the hotel, very heartful and quick check-in as it was past midnight, so straight to bed. One light in the room kept on flashing after I put it of. Next day 3 other lights popped. Didn't call to replace them as I wasn't there to stay in my room, but for sleep. Good food in restaurant, clean up was tidy, laundry service okay. Overall good stay.
