Excellent facilities and brilliant staff. We were pampered here and it was very much appreciated. Would like to return soon.
Personnel was very forthcoming in explaining the self~ticketing automat for trolley tickets; one employee actually walked with us to the automat to demonstrate the procedure. Thank goodness!
Super cute spot and the AC was set so cold, it felt great after a hot day walking around
Staff were lovely and very helpful.
Excellent Hotel
Excellent experience from the moment we entered the hotel, given a room on arrival. Also on departure was allowed to leave luggage at reception until a time that suited. Room clean, had a fridge which was great. Will definitely return
I have had the pleasure of staying at the Leonardo, for both business and pleasure for some years and highly recommend it. Rooms are a good size and bathrooms recently refurbished, breakfast is excellent and station and key areas within walking distance. Thank you Leonardo, see you again soon.
The Leonardo would have gotten 5 stars except it was like an oven in our room. The property has an issue with the air conditioning. Thank God the large windows opened to allow (fortunately) cool air while we were there. Gabriella at the front desk was exceptionally nice and accommodating.
Good location, didn’t realize this hotel is a 3 star hotel, doom was not really clean, found the last guests bike gloves in the corner of the room, dust on the tables, just wasn’t clean, I wouldn’t stay here again, I think I should have booked the other Leonardo hotel in the area we stayed called the Royal Leonardo
Nice accommodations
We SOLEY booked this hotel because of the pool and sauna especially because we brought our kids for 11 days in Mannheim. Come to find they are both closed indefinitely. We didn’t have to pack our kids floaties and goggles all the way from USA. Also it looks like the “rooftop terrace” is closed too. “Quadruple suite” does not look like the pictures at all. The hotel was shocked that we knew about the pool. They said it isn’t advertised… it’s on every website with pictures and everything. Their website said closed until July 7th…. Not true!!!
quirky but comfortable hotel in the centre of town, with easy parking on-site.
3 nights stay. First night checked in, aircon wasn’t working, it was summer. Told reception about it but reception said no one on duty to fix and no available rooms to change. So I slept without aircon in the summer. It was suffocating. Managed to change room the next day. Aircon was working in the new room, but while I was on the bed, a mouse ran out from under the bed and hid behind the TV console. Told the reception and they say no room, and even say mouse will follow me even if I change room. I know right =.=. They did ask someone to come find the mouse but it was hidden behind the TV console. No room the change so I had to accept the fact that Jerry the mouse will be my roommate for the next 2 night. The morning I wanted to check out, I realized my socks by the door were gone. Jerry tried to steal my socks which I then later found by the TV console. So yea. Don’t stay in this hotel.
Great location, staff could be a little more helpful.
I had to go to the front desk 3 times because my hotel room key did not work and the staff did not bother to go with me. They eventually gave me a new room
We booked a 'superior' room - with a bath. Turns out they don't have any. So we were moved to the other Leonardo that does - near the water tower. That hotel was generally a bit tired and in need of refurb, certainly not a 'superior' room - but it did have a bath!
Air conditioning is terrible. We were not there at an extremely hot time. 80 degrees. For our second night we were moved to another room. It was cooler but I think that is only because it was down four floors from our first room. A mouse ran through the lobby bar when we were getting our room changed. The desk employees were wonderful. Parking on site was appreciated. Cleanliness was quite good.
Will be going back for sure. Great pool.
Only ding was that the parking, while being onsite and connected to the hotel via an elevator, it is not owned by the hotel so you can't pay at the hotel. Had to hunt down the payment machine, pay for the hours used, then use the ticket to get out. So no daily rate, it's based on usage. Also very tight passages in the garage. Hotel is older but well maintained, things were clean. And the staff was very friendly. The front desk folks spoke English. The room was nice and roomy. Bathroom clean but just a shower. Bed was comfortable. Not much of a view. Just apartment buildings but it is in the city center so very convenient to restaurants. The breakfast buffet was great. Lots of sliced meats including salmon, cheeses, fresh fruits, cereals, there were hot foods - scrambled and hard boiled eggs, bacon, sausage, little meatballs, and of course bread and various rolls. For me the pink grapefruit juice was a rarity for most I've been to in Europe. When the weather was nice one can eat out on the deck where they have several umbrellas and tables. I booked this hotel specifically for the indoor pool. I had feared that might be closed because of COVID but they had it open with no more than 4 people allowed in at a time. Had to make a reservation for a time slot but it was worth it. Only about 4 feet deep but a large size pool you can swim in. There is also a dry sauna and a small exercise room with a couple treadmills and other machines. You can get towels from the front desk.
Leonardo Hotel Mannheim
The staff are very helpful, professional and very polite, the rooms are clean and maintained to a good standard and more importantly comfortable beds. The bar also serves food and had a good choice of food on the menu at a very reasonable price. I would have no problem booking this hotel again for business or pleasure.

Central location & staff great Would definitely go back
Central location, and cleanliness. Only drawback the elevator was very slow and the escalator was closed at the same time.

Good stay and it’s for my very short business stay only.
Good location and staff. Easy access to the train and market center.
That it is centrally Located to everything and my family enjoyed our stayed...
F1 Awesome Accom.
My Son and I Stayed at your wonderful hotel for 3 nights while attending the GP F1 event in Hockenheim. You hotel was excellent in every way for us. If we had separate beds we may have slept more thoroughly throughout the night but, we both managed plenty of Z's and really enjoyed the event. The pool and spa was great for our needs and never seemed too crowded. It was clean and functionally excellent.
It is not about property it is about Expedia service. You have done hotel reservation and when I arrived there was no reservation and ...
Had expected a bit more
Needed to change the room as the sink was leaking so badly that it was flooding the bathroom whenever the tab was running for just a couple of seconds. Not sure how this went unnoticed when the room was being cleaned followed the previous guest? The room that I then received thankfully also had a second bath towel. Try and get a room away from the main road as there was lots of unpleasant noise (people & cars) coming in from outside throughout a good part of the night. In summary, I'd expected a bit more to be honest.
good hotel
good
Convenient location in centre of Mannheim. Large room and bathroom.
Mannheim for a day
Clean hotel very comfortable good breakfast
Good location. Good value.
Good location, near transportation and tourist areas. Good value. Hotel was clean and the staff were nice. Spoke excellent English. I would stay there again.
In the middle of town
Stay was overall good. The location of the hotel is right outside the wasserturm area and among major brad shops which is major plus
Is a beautiful city and also a lovely hoteli really enjoyed my self
Lovely
I had a great stay at Leonardo there isn’t anything that I would change
Good stay, got the pass to use local fitness studio which was excellent. Food and service in restaurant pretty good.
Great hotel and receptions but poor room services
I stayed in this hotel for 3 nights and would have given a 5 stars rating if it weren't for the following: Room service knocked on my door and ignored my shouted response and still came in my room within seconds. I had to hide behind the door as I just came out of the shower and was naked. Surely room service should not just barged into someone's room? Even worse I did have a Do not Disturb card displayed on the door handle and I suspect this was taken away by them which was not replaced. I told the lady to return at midday but was ignored as she returned half an hour earlier. The same happened the next day and with no Do not Disturb card being replaced it so it was free for all to come in when they want! The other issue was the pool, gym and sauna was closed because it was vandalised all at once according to reception which I find hard to believe. How do you vandalise a sauna? Perhaps a rowdy group did this but I was told it was a teenage boy! I also asked room service for tea to be replaced and the milk and the young girl told me she didn't have any! This was never replaced throughout my stay. Perhaps it's the hotel policy that they should not be replaced to save on costs? I had to get them from reception in the end. Apart from these issues I was very satisfied with the reception services in particular with Steve. The breakfast was very good apart from the soggy burnt bacon. There is a good variety of items but no fried eggs or omelettes, only scramble eggs. The restaur
The hotel was spacious and the bar\bistro well-priced. Our bar manager was friendly and funny and really made our stay memorable.
Ideal location for my business trip
Probably about 10 minutes walk from the station, right on the edge of the city shopping district with plenty of restaurants close by
Worst Hotel ever
There was a construction in the building and they haven't warned me that I could be disturbed. I had to wake up with a huge noise at 8 am. Worst service ever
Overpriced for bad service it offers
Wifi too slow for any work, even email. Paid for the premium and it didn't work either. Staff at reception could not reimburse the wifi payment. Hotel looks like last refurbished in 1989 or sth. Overpriced for bad service it offers.
bad
Aircindition not work for 2 nights , internet very bad , price very high 240€ per night .
Mannheim center.
We stayed in this hotel for the last 4 days of our trip and their sister hotel the Leonardo Royal Mannheim on the first half of our trip. The location was nice as you were close to the shopping area. However, it was very noisy until early hours of the morning, everyday. The staff were great but the AC was broken and the pool was broken so you could not go to the rooftop deck which is one of the reasons we switched hotels. The room was large and the beds were very comfortable.
I have stayed at this hotel when it was still under the Holiday Inn name and I think it was better then. The Hotel was overbooked and as a result the rooms I asked for with two beds in each were ended up being rooms with one double bed. I understand this is confusing in Europe (2 beds vs double beds), but I as I said I have stayed here before and did not have this problem. The best thing about this hotel is the Bar Tender, funny and makes excellent drinks.
Hot stay
It was extremely hot in the hotel. Central A/C only goes on when the temp outside is about +25C. Also noisy during the day due to drilling in the hotel.
Great location and well looked after
From initial reception through to departure the staff were extremely attentive and added to the pleasure of the stay.
5th time back
Been back 5 times now, its good. All is good, even joined the Leonardo's points club.
Central location
I was staying in Mannheim for 3 nights so wanted a good sized room (Chose Executive grade room) and central location - 10 minutes walk from railway station. The Leonardo met my needs. The hotel ( previously a Holiday Inn) is ready for an overhaul / refurbishment. Comparing notes with colleagues staying in other hotels nearby all Mannheim hotels could do with being modernised!
Enjoyable weekend
This was our second visit to the Leonardo. We like its central position within walking distance of the main railway station. We love the buffet breakfast in the lovely large dining room with windows looking out onto the trees outside.
Great Hotel with Really Poor Bedding
The Leonardo Hotel Mannheim City Center is indeed smack dab in the middle of Mannheim, just steps away from the bulk of the city's shops and restaurants and within very easy walking distance of many of the city's major cultural institutions including the university. In this respect, it's a great option for business travelers and tourists alike. The hotel itself is in fairly good condition--comfortable enough and comparatively well-equipped, but not exactly luxurious. The staff were extremely nice, genuinely helpful and thoroughly professional. My only complaint has to do with the beds and the bedding. The beds just weren't very comfortable and the bedding was awful, especially by German standards. The pillows were nothing but bags of chopped foam and the duvets were far, far too small. I had to use two of them just to cover myself. Anywhere else in the world that would qualify as a simple annoyance, but in Germany, substandard bedding in a quality is more like a crime. If they can fix that, the hotel would be great. Otherwise, I fear a lot of people are going to leave feeling a bit disappointed despite all the good things the hotel has to offer, including its excellent location.
First visit to Mannheim
Very comfortable large room, excellent swimming pool, very good breakfast and service.
Great location
I said I would never stay in a Leonardo hotel again, this was great. It was so nice I booked for another 2 nights, then went back a few days later. Having said that I did pay nearly €300 for one night and the mini bar/fridge was off and empty. Great location, great hotel and nice staff.
Room features are fairly standard for Mannheim downtown hotels. Beware that the AC is not working properly and it has been exceptionally hot in Germany lately
A night in Mannheim
Excellent hotel friendly staff- great location
No Relief from Heat
Mostly the hotel was nice and very reasonably located, with nice breakfast buffet. The biggest issue was no air-conditioning during a heat-wave. Otherwise I would recommend hotel.
Business trip
I have stayed at this hotel for almost every summer for past 14 years, since Leonardo has taken over from Holiday Inn, the hotel has deteriorated a bit. The towels and pillows are in bad shape for a 3 or 4 star hotel and the carpet should be cleaned. Leonardo fix this hotel up!
Hotel does not offer true A/C in rooms...
The hotel does not have true air conditioning in the suites/rooms as advertised. I informed the service staff that my room was too hot and they said the building has central air but it is not regulated within each room, but there is what appears to be a fake thermostat in each room. I paid extra for a hotel room with A/C and all they really offered was a tiny oscillating fan to help move hot air around.
Worth the price
We stayed two nights and had a pleasant stay staff was extremely helpful
The hotel is in a good location and very clean.
But this is not a 4star hotel, and there was on incident with a member of staff who was extremely rude, I would never recommend the hotel on that experience alone.
Good Hotel
We have stayed at this hotel a couple of times in the last 6 months and found that the staff are friendly and professional at all times. In addition, the hotel is central to the main part of the city and an easy walk to and from the train station. The hotel is very clean and there is a good choice of food for breakfast, catering for the different nationalities that stay at the hotel.
Great location and service.
Hotel was exactly as advertised. The stay was very pleasant, and definitely the best location. Price was very reasonable. I would highly recommend this hotel. I don't give any higher praise, due to the price of breakfast. Was steep. You cannot control your room temperature either, but it was comfortable, nonetheless.
Central comfortable hotel
Well located, clean, efficient, I had a very quiet room, it was comfortable and very functional and spacious. Staff are friendly and helpful. Very good breakfast buffet. Would recommend / stay there again without hesitation.
would not go back
very disappointed with my stay in this hotel. pictures and description very far from reality, spa - I wouldn't call it spa - pool way too small to be called pool, rooms - very old fashion, carpet needs to be replaced. then 2 things in bathroom needed repair, put request in reception - nothing was done about it really, I would rather call it attempt to repair. no fix or replacement. this hotel deserve 2.5 star. i would never go back or recommend it to anybody
Stay elsewhere!
The hotel is in a good central location but unfortunately this is the only thing it has going for it. I was absolutely appalled when upon check-in I was informed by the receptionist that I had to pay the full amount of my 5 day stay up-front. Apparently, some customers have left without paying in the past, although I thought that was why most hotels pre-authorise credit cards on check-in, but don't actually charge them until check out. Staff were surly, carpets stained, rooms outdated and bathrooms like a nightmare from the 1970's. Air conditioning/heating can't really be controlled from within the rooms and irons/boards are not provided in the rooms unless you have an Executive room (which I did), and then it's a stupid little iron/board built into a trouser press. There is one laundry room on the 2nd floor where you can iron shirts, but there was never water for the steam iron and nowhere to get some on that floor unless you have a room there! Despite having an Executive room with free toiletries, the toiletries I'd used (ie shower gel) were never replaced unless I explicitly asked at reception. Food/Drinks are overpriced as are the rooms. How this hotel achieved and retained a 4* rating is absolutely beyond me. Would NOT stay here again.
Good facility, terrible service
I was meeting a colleague at this hotel and we were both arriving from out of country and only I had a European network cell phone. We both arrived late due to poor traffic and weather. My colleague arrived an hour and a half earlier than me and left me a note at the front desk saying that he would come back about an hour or so after I arrived. I checked in and instructed the front desk to give the gentleman my room number when he came back. Two hours later I came back to the lobby to see my colleague confused and waiting because the front desk told him I had not arrived yet. We were both quite disgruntled at the receptionists but they did little to try and figure out what happened at all. With that said the facilities are quite nice however they do charge pretty extortionate rates for wifi and interenet and I did not see a business center style facility. I also had a misunderstanding with the receptionist upon arrival who said parking in the adjacent garage would be free for hotel guests. Upon check out the following receptionist informed me that it was a public garage and that I would have to pay. I do not recommend this hotel at all if you are traveling on business or plan to stay for an extended period of time.
It was okay
It was okay. I was very frustrated with the internet - the hotel advertises that you can pay for access, but the front desk did not give any directions on what to do, just that "you pay from your room". After paying 14 EUR, it didn't work, so ten minutes after checking in I called the front desk, who then helpfully informed me that the internet connection was problematic that day, but to come back and they would give me a voucher to try. When I went back to the front desk I was told I needed to call the internet company directly and troubleshoot with them. The whole thing was insanely frustrating. Also, the beds only have one pillow and a very thin duvet. Other than that, the room was clean and it was relatively quiet (traffic from outside, but inside was okay).
Sept 2014 Euopean trip
Spent two nights at Leonardo and was impressed with the hotel and service. Willstay again if we return to Mannheim.
Hei!
Thanks your hospitality, good hotel to stay in Mannheim!
OK - near the station
Staff a bit brusque and parts of the hotel showing signs of wear. Noisy location because the local youth seem to use the road in front to parade their cars and bikes, using every opportunity to make as much noise as possible.
NOISY, DIRTY, POOR STAFF, USELESS AIR CONDITIONING
On main street, double glazing completely ineffective against cars and drunks. Dirty room, cracked washing bowl, bath dirty with hairs. Coffee and cups not replaced, just left. Staff didn't pay attention to request, said I was lucky to get room!!! Air conditioning was utterly ineffective, would be unbearable in summer. Breakfast cost was more than I would pay for dinner including drinks. Wifi extra. Absolutely no where near **** it claims, * for me.
Great value hotel for a short business trip!
Great value for money and pleasant service. Breakfast is too expensive so I didn't buy that.. One complaint - 'fitness room' is tiny and next to the sauna which makes it unhealthily hot! Apart from that, I enjoyed my stay and would return
Like me, a little tired
Good central location, easy access to train station. Hotel is not as careful as it might be on allocation of non smoking rooms.
Impressed with the Staff
I've been to this hotel twice and both times the staff was exceptional; polite, understanding, and more than willing to work for the customer. The second time I forgot a complete suit in my room and they mailed it to my address! The buffet had a variety of foods, including the typical American breakfast. A great experience all around.
Good but tired decor
Location of this hotel is ideal for main city and travel links. My room was noisey from street celebrations but rooms onto the inner courtyard would avoid this. Service on reception was good, though elsewhere one tended to wait a while to find somebody - hotel was not busy! I came across unattended baggage in corridors, which I felt was quite bad if in the hotels trust! Spa area is functional rather than luxury - if looking for a quick swim, sauna & jog then ok. It is unattended, no music or atmosphere and its not comfortable for lounging. Hotel decor is tired and reminiscent of the early 90's. Built in radio, a wow factor back then but now just filling a hole & flashing red LED because it no longer can be tuned in. TV selection and equipment is good with pleasing size and sound quality. Mini bar was stocked on arrival but never restocked in 8 days of my stay. Bathroom had cracked tiles and loose fittings illustrating again that the hotel ideally needs refurbishing soon. Room was very clean & attractive & chamber services excellent & helpful. I had one meal from the restaurant, which was better than average standard for hotel prices, menu was limited. I did not take breakfast to comment. I enjoyed my stay and felt it was a good hotel. The staff are willing and nothing seemed too much trouble. My overall impression is it being a shame the hotel is not more busy to warrant that extra investment in the decor, because then it really would be first class.
Good hotel worth a look
Hi I stay in hotels a lot and this hotel was a mixture of good and very good. Location is superb and the hotel parking is very reasonable for a city center location (all evening and all night less than 12€). Down side is the room could do with a freshening up and the corridors are starting to look a little thin. The only other problem was the bar ( very expensive) that said hotel was very clean and polite and friendly staff. If you are in Mannhiem and want a city location it is worth a look.
Convenient and Clean
Great location and nice hotel with pool! Front desk personnel could use a personality check, but besides that...all was good!
Nice pool...
Nice hotel...very nice pool and excellent breakfast! Staff is friendly...I would definitely return.
Quite Happy
Close enough to the train station for easy {walking} access, without all of the negatives that comes with hotels located by a train station. Clean, friendly & helpful staff; great breakfast. The restaurant maitre d', best was truly the best and so helpful -Thanks. Only negative is no free wi-fi.
Hotel people good! Others So So
Very kindness staff Clean room No noisy Clean shower Good surrond shops No tips is ok :) Very dirty kettle :( No serve free water No movie channel Expensive internet Expensive other service
Hotel Leonardo
The best part of our stay was the excellent breakfast the hotel served. Other than that, not much good to say. We couldn't get the A.C. to work and when we asked the staff they were not helpful, telling us to get the instructions from the television. The room was warm and stuffy for our entire three night stay. The noise outside was a major problem with Mannheim's very rowdy young people partying, yelling and revving car engines until early morning hours, making it impossible to keep the windows open, despite the very warm room.
Disappointed by change of owners
Booked as Holiday Inn, checked in as a "Leonardo" group hotel. I would have cancelled if I had known this. Needs cash spending on it, looking a bit tired. Right in the city centre, nearby underground parking, generally OK.
Didn't know the hotel was change from Holiday Inn to Leonardo a week before we arrive. We spend 15 min searching for Holiday Inn not Leonardo. The hotel was very nice and clean, located right smack in shopping area, . The staff friendly and accomodating. IT was a pleasant stay, my only problem was breakfast buffet was supposed to be included when I reserved the room but it was not , the cost 18 toEuro, too much. But not was not a big deal, had coffee in the room.
the price of drinks in the bar are outrageous breakfast is a joke had to wait for all my food coffee was cold I will not stay at this hotel again it is a joke and to much money
Nice business hotel
Wifi was expensive, 5 euros for 1 hour, 9.50 euros for 2 hours
A basic business targeted 4* hotel where you have to pay high fees for internet and breakfast. All around in a need of some refurbishment, but the rooms were comfortable and provided a good nights sleep. A good place to crash, but the rather high regular room prices are not quite met by the quality one expects.
Staff friendly but not very helpful
The hotel was close to the train station and easy to find because there are no street names only grid references. We found the staff very friendly but if there was something they didn't know there was no attempt made to find out, an example being we were there for the Grand Prix in Hockenheim and they had no information on getting to the track and made no attempt to get these details, all we got was a shrug of shoulders. We reported the shower broken on the first day, maintenance didn't arrive for over 24 hours. The breakfast was good but we arrived with 10 minutes to go one morning and were warned to get everything we needed before 10 oc as all the food would be taken away. We paid extra for a "free" mini bar but if it sounds too good to be true it probably is, every hotel mini bar I've seen before had a selection of wine, shorts and mixers and beer, this one had one bottle of beer, water and juice a day and a couple of bars of chocolate don't be conned as I was. All in all we enjoyed our trip, we wouldn't go back to Mannheim as we found it a characterless city with no tourist appeal, I only picked it because it was close to the track.
Very good hotel for a stay. Only the Air conditioner was not efficient. Took a lot of time to cool the room. Other than that, it was a very good experience. Fantastic location. Will stay again if I am in the area. Highly recommended.
Overnight stay in Mannheim
We stayed here just one night with my wife and two younger children. Our room had 2 queens. It was a good size room and clean. The parking garage is under the hotel which is very convient, but you must pay €12 a night. Great location. Very close to the shopping district.
Good hotel in the downtown area.
This hotel was conveniently located in downtown Mannheim with close access to the major highway. The original hotel looks like it was built a while ago, but it has since been updated with a more modern look. The room was comfortable and clean.
Hotel in the center
Hotel in the center of the shopping center and restaurants
Outstanding breakfast buffet!
This hotel is very centrally located. It is about 10 minutes walk from the train station and two minutes walk from shopping and restaurants.
This hotel was well located in the city and a good value for the money
Modern hotel located in the heart of the city and close to every thing. Rooms were not that big, but walking distance to restaurants and shopping made up for this. The hotel was clean and modern, and the only drawback was that it was located above stores and hard to find. I would recomend this hotel for someone staying for a few days in the city.
Served the purpose
The beds listed as Queen Size were actually closer to small doubles. The hotel parking garage was very difficult to get around, had small spaces and the ramp space between levels is very narrow, even for a small car, so if you have a rental car, be sure to have someone guide you on the tight corners. Good central location if you want to be in downtown Mannheim - close to shopping, restaurants, etc.
Great breakfast, Neat area but nothing to see
We chose the hotel as a night stop on the way to Fraport, due to rates. We found a clean hotel, kind staff and GREAT breakfast.
Very Good Hotel but misleading information
Very Good Hotel but misleading information. We booked 2 queen beds but they only offered 2 double beds.
Gerne wieder.
Really friendly and hospitable staff, clean and spacious room, really nothing negative to point out. Recommended stay :)
Als Superieur-Zimmer mittelmäßig. Große Baustelle direkt neben dem Zimmer
Gute Unterkunft große Zimmer geräumig sauber! Direkt in der City Altstadt
Fantastic service, perfect location!
