Excellent service
Lovely property conveniently located in the heart of the city! Staff was wonderful too.
Great location, newly updated rooms and beautiful lobby. Front desk staff was very kind and flexible with an early check in which was appreciated.
Staff was through the chat service and was always present if we needed anything. The restaurant at the hotel is convenient and has good food, but it is overpriced like hotels usually are. There is a coffee shop next door, which is a lifesaver. Our room had a big stain next to one of the beds, so they had to exchange our room. Some of the front desk staff need better customer service training. When we arrived and needed to check in, two employees were at the desk. When it was our turn, one of the employees said he was busy and brushed us off to the other, who was checking everybody in, and there was a substantial line. That was not cool. Other than that, the hotel is convenient.
Comfortable stay
The hotel staff is not very kind
Perfectly located. Nice size rooms for what NYC normally has to offer.
Good location. Historic building, well appointed.
wonderful business trip stay here
nice stay for business trip
The property exuded the glamour of a bygone era which to me, is so NYC. The rooms have obviously been renovated, but I thought it was weird that, for example, bathroom doors that had been upgraded with new hardware were left unfinished where the old door hardware used to be. A little wood putty and some paint goes a long way and the lack of attention to that simple detail took away from the glamour of the hotel. Loved the Byredo products in the bathroom. Staff was great. Did not at all like the daily amenity fee, particularly since the hotel really had no amenity. At $45 a night plus tax, that was over $50 a night and added significantly to room cost. While some of the fee is credited back to in-house food and beverage charges, given the pricing, taxes, and fees added to the items consumed, it’s not hard for one person to not only use up the amenity, but exceed it. It just felt like a back door way to encourage guests to spend more money at the hotel for items that cost far less about outside of the hotel. $13 for a bottle of water in my room? $69 for a breakfast tostada by the time all of the fees and taxes were added? I’m not new to NYC but this just seemed excessive. Location was great.
centrally located in new york, safe and many restaurants around, also the lobby bar has food and stays open late so was great for a drink after dinner
Great place to stay! The Staff was top tier. Did get a bit surprised by the $200 a day charge for security deposit.
Liked the old world charm
Can’t complain from the place to staffers everything was awesome.
This place exceeded my expectations. Glad I did not follow the bad reviews. Room was clean and comfortable. Staff was outstanding and very helpful.
Loved that it had a real lobby, concierge and bell hop! We also loved having the bar and restaurant right at the hotel along with excellent room service.
Top notch from beginning to end. After a long drive into the city I was greeted with the warmth and hospitality of the front desk. The lobby is spectacular, old world charm. The bar staff are friendly and accommodating. The rooms are pristine with highend linens and furniture. I think I found my goto property for future visits!
Good location
Sterling Staff
Everyone on staff was fantastic. One guest did racially profile me. Embarrassing moment. But i took care of it directly and with firmly. Dining staff was the best EVER!
Best 5 star property if you like Old New York charm. Beautiful hotel and great staff
Wonderful and stylish. Cheaper and 10x better than the Lexington across the intersection.
Great!
Great time. Was upgraded to a better room which was nice. Appreciated the hotel and amenities
Nice brunch. Staff is quite helpful
Outdated , old . Mostly in good condition but definitely not 5 star quality.
Hotel & staff were excellent.
Lovely hotel!
The location was convenient. The staff was nice. Check in process was easy and nice. The room was not as clean. Some of the surfaces were not clean, especially the round table—food crumbs and salad leftover’s. There was no conditioner in the shower—this was very inconvenient.
Outstanding value for price in NYC
Outstanding comfort and care for details. Room comfort A+ (mattress, pillows, bathroom). Outstanding buffet breakfast with continuous supply of freshly cooked food (no large batches left there for hours as in other hotels). Accurate and friendly service. Great value for price in NYC.
We completed one week from our stay, and they didn't returned the deposit yet!
Great place to stay.
Would stay here again
Really enjoyed our stay
Enjoyed the stay very much. Staff was super friendly and helpful. Our room was a perfect size. Perfect location to walk to Radio City & Rockefeller Center and Subway stop was a quick walk as well. Would stay here again.
Great Clean Nice food
The hotel was prefect. service and staff was Excellent great hospitality
Very elegant, very clean, very comfortable near important sites.
Great location just outside the hussle and bussle but easy to walk there. Clean and safe with a large lobby and spacious rooms
The Hotel was very nice. There dining room experience was not the best. It's really small for the amount of people staying at the hotel. There needs to be better guidance on the breakfast options that are included when you book with your room. We got 3 different answers from 3 different workers. We're still not sure we got what we paid for. Don't get me started on the price for the breakfast we received. Overall the hotel was a very nice place to stay. Located close to the things we wanted to do. We'd stay there again.
Safe
I have to say, this place was great. If I would have known how great it was, I would have booked my whole week there during the Christmas holiday. I split my week with another hotel because I wasn’t sure when I booked it. I did not know much about this hotel but now I am impressed. I am sensitive to noise and I got a high floor room and it was perfect. Food and restaurant/bar ambience was great. Staff great. Perfect location and nice rooms. Totally recommend it especially for price.
the staff’s service was poo, and they didn’t same to care
It’s a beautiful hotel. The room was spacious and the decor a very high standard. Friendly staff and a brilliant location.
Favorite hotel in New York !!
Property wasn’t well taken care of. Stains on lobby chairs and couches. Stains on carpet in our room. Service at restaurant wasn’t good. Walls in the rooms are super thin, couldn’t sleep 2 nights because of a couple arguing all night. We didn’t stay the final night of our 5 night stay, luckily manager did give us a refund. The property is in a good location close to many things
The customer service is excellent & the property is impeccably maintained! Always recommend to anyone visiting NYC.
Beautiful hotel
Clean, safe and comfortable great breakfast.
This hotel is in a great location if you are going to a Broadway show and doing things in Midtown. The rooms are clean and spacious for New York and the staff is friendly and welcoming.
Property is dated. Hallways seems to always have people’s garbage and room service in the hall. Breakfast buffet is adequate with limited options.
Well priced and great service Nicely appointed rooms
Lovely stay in quiet area not far from Central Park and Rockefeller tree. Easy access to subway and LGA. Will return.
The Intercontinental Barkley has become my go to property every time I visit New York City… The hotel is extremely well staffed, in a great walkable location & once inside the rooms- it is quiet. The rooms are very clean, it is extremely safe and there is a lovely coffee shop right off of the front of the hotel. It is within walking distance of Rockefeller Center and has a lovely entrance lobby. I highly recommend staying here!
Great service...
Beautiful old hotel that has been remodeled and well maintained. It’s really the best of both worlds. Great location. Close to all of the action but not right in the middle of it. Very clean and comfortable room. Great hotel!
Great Holiday Getaway
We loved our stay! Excellent customer service but the rooms are definitely on the smaller side, so you would need multiple rooms for a group. The double rooms have small beds but it was still a wonderful stay and we would come back. The central location is everything.
Great rooms and staff
Great location and clean hotel! Loved staying there to explore midtown!
We were in NYC for our anniversary. Hotel was convenient to everything we wanted to see and do; very pleasant place, staff was very accommodating. A little hard to regulate the heat in the room, otherwise, great stay!
Nice atmosphere
This is a very nice hotel and the rooms are spacious. We were able to check in before the official check in time which was great. However it is outrageously expensive!
Clean
100%
The toom was exceptional loved the heated bathroom floors. Did not smell any smoking scent like you do at other hotels. Felt so comfortable and peaceful. Breakfast was amazing felt like upper clas
On arrival told there was a $1000 dollar holding fee for 5 nights. The receptionist reduced this to $500 as I stated we wouldn’t be spending this amount at the hotel. We were told that there was a service fee tax on our stay and this was $45 a night. This included some discounts at some shops e.g Bloomingdale’s. Trying to use this discount shopping this was not available in store. This service fee also included $30 dollars per day to use in their restaurant for food/beverage. On leaving, we were given a $450 dollar bill for the service tax and for some nibbles in the restaurant in the evening. On reading the bill, did not take into consideration the $30 included in service fee towards food and beverage. I notified the receptionist which then took this off and gave a bill of $302 dollars. This was then taken off our holding fee and the extra money deposited back the following day. Breakfast was included in our stay and there a very good variety of food in the buffet. Each day the hot breakfast would have different selection with different kinds of sausages, omelettes, veg that set you up for the day. We enjoyed the pastries, salmon, cheeses, yoghurts. In evening we would have a margarita pizza & fries. The food could not be flawed. Well done Chef! Hotel service was mixed. You paid tip for service but felt there was a lack of service sometimes from male waiters/reception. A waitress in the evening and cleaners were kind/hardworking and did not get their names.
Good stay! Nice spacious lobby. Rooms are good. I would stay again.
We’ll be back!
Great stuff and great hotel
The stuff at the reception were all super nice and friendly and accomodated any request I had. The hotel itself is a very nice classy hotel well kept spacious and pleasant to be. Rooms are very comfortable spacious and nice
Great property, nice place to stay in the city, central location to everything!
Good location, rooms and enmities, but understaffed for check in, reception and room service. Rooms not ready on time. Good value for money. Bar staff was fantastic and friendly
Great hotel
It was excellent hotel with fantastic staff. Rooms were very clean and specious. Staff was amazing.
All good, great location
good location, beautiful property, great place to stay
We stayed for four nights in November. The hotel has great character and we enjoyed the lobby bar and restaurant. The room and the lobby were very clean and had everything we needed. The staff was very attentive. We would stay here again.
Centrally located and functional on all aspects. Good breakfast!
Overall great, with a minor complaint
The room was a bit small, but clean and overall fine for its purposes. Staff was very friendly and helpful. My only complaint is being hit with a surprise $50 amenity fee upon checkout. Neither the hotel itself or Hotels.com could explain what this fee was for, or why it was not included in the cost of the original booking. Seemed like just a way to squeeze a few extra bucks out of us on our way out the door when we're too exhausted to argue.
Great location and bar has great staff !
it was good
Front desk staff not very accommodating on arrival
Exstreamly expensive and not up to the standards of a IGH hotel.
Staff was amazing, Room was clean, very close to many different subway stations
Great location
Great location, close to Rockefeller Center and close to subways. The room was very comfortable and the staff was fantastic.
I will definitely be back to this property. Everything was impeccable.
Great location and fun lobby and amenities
Location was good. Hard to sleep due to street noise.
The staff was very friendly and helped with recommended places to go and transport options.
Well maintained and beautiful lobby/bar
Excellent hôtel
Très bien à recommander
Everything excellent!!
This is generally a very comfortable hotel, conveniently located. The reason I give it only 3 stars, though, is because of the added fees. Upon checking in, we were informed of a daily $45 "amenity fee." That few included a $30 fault credit for use at the bar, the restaurant, room service, or the mini bar. However $30 doesn't go very far when they charge almost $15 for a can of diet coke and $35 for a Snickers from the mini bar. In other words, this credit is really just a way to get you to spend more on hotel dining, since you will always exceed this amount of you use the hotel's services. So it did feel very money-grubbing.
Great
Malfunctioning thermostat, downgraded to a smaller room. Manager of the hotel ignored the complaints.
Front desk was brilliant customer focused. Room was very small.
Below standard
Huge dirt stain on carpet. Lack of porters when arriving and when we departed. Amount of time I wasted three times trying to talk to staff. Lack of amenities normally found in a room. Misleading Expedia rating. It showed 9.3 but deserved a 7 or 6
Very good
Great hotel in good location, I’ve stayed several times.
Thank you very clean Team is awesome
Not enough outlets to recharge electronics
Amazing service and just an exquisite hotel. Thank you.
