Amazing place
The personal was amazing
friendly staff, fast check in and nice location! we got upgraded to the big room
Very lovely italian style hotel with free parking!
Old charm
Cozy hotel, lovely garden
Very pleasant and relaxing stay
The staff is really nice, the hotel has many common areas inside and a garden with a hammock outside. Very convenient to the seaside, to the main shopping street, restaurants and sites. Highly recommended, will stay again.
Sanremo excellent stay
Very friendly family business, good location for restaurants and bars. Would visit again
Wonderful place 10 out of 10
Staff very helpful and friendly, clean spacious room with modern bathroom and beautiful areas to relax in
Villa maria
Nice location , friendly staff. Good breakfast. Room ok
Charming staff.. in an ideal location
Lovely hotel. Located across from royal hotel (one of the two five star hotels where you can pop in to dine or have a drink). Very kind staff. Ladies if you need a place to have your hair done, less than 50 meters away there is a great hair salon called Medea. VERY reasonable .. and VERY talented beauticians!!
Pleasant.
The place was spacious and beautiful. We are used to timeshares so really missed the kitchen and refrigerator. The breakfast and people were lovely and helpful.
Humble but clean single room, not quite central but still a pleasant location. Great breakfast.
Excellent stay.
This hotel is quiet, 5 minutes walk to the seafront, 10 minutes walk into town centre. Like staying in a 17th century palazzo, some of the furniture in the public rooms were lovely antiques. Lovely quiet garden with sun loungers. Room very clean and comfortable with modern facilities. Nice balcony, great breakfast, plenty of variety, fresh fruit, yogurt, lovely croissants filled with apricot puree or custard. Marco on reception was very helpful. Excellent WiFi in room. Good private parking. We were on a motorbike tour and stayed 5 nights. I would definitely recommend.
Good location.
Very helpful staff. Amazing old building. Has a car park too.
Sunny sanremo
Great location in heart of sanremo. Hotel typically Italian, large room with nice balcony and all important free parking.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Clean and comfortable room in a good location.
A pleasant surprise for a budget hotel.
Great breakfast included, in a nice sun room. Large rooms. Interesting antique furnishings matching the old homes converted to a hotel.
A great find.
A great family run hotel. We returned last weekend for our second stay at the Hotel Villa Maria. Fantastic location, a few minutes walk from the Casino, shopping and beaches. Staff are super friendly and the children were given a special treat at breakfast. ..... We were made to feel really comfortable and are already looking at dates to go back.
Worth the money
Worth every penny, we visit San-remo every month, and would recommend this hotel, breakfast and coffe was excellent, going back end October.
Good value, close to downtown.
Old hotel in good location, with off street parking. Top floor room, with comfortable bed. Great price, good value for money.
Return visit but never again.
This was a return visit for us inviting our daughter & son in law to we thought a villa with character. This has now changed. Apparently they have residences in the main Villa. We were not in the villa but a building next door. The room was small with dirty walls & furnishings,we paid 72€ per night in advance with no option of refund. Our daughter paid 60€ per night to the hotel & her bedroom although was larger than ours it was still badly decorated. The breakfast was very basic & come 9:45 everything was put away & we felt we couldn't stay & enjoy our second cup of tea. This was up until now our favorite hotel in SanRemo (we visit often) but we will not be returning to the Villa Maria.I feel the advertising is misrepresentation of what is on offer, it is now completely different to what we experienced two years ago yet the advertising hasn't changed.
Would recommend it only for location
Quite location and groundfloor lobby are the only positive points, the rest is very basic 2 star hotel. Staff is friendly, but with very basic English, room is dated, sitting bathtub has no shower curtain and very dated (although clean). You can hear every sound in the hotel. Breakfast - basic Italian. WiFi - only in the lobby. Summary: basic 2 star stay at the quite location near Russian church
Perfectly adequate
The hotel staff were perfectly friendly and attentive. The room was basic and warm, as there is not fan and not much air circulation. The hotel feels like a home, with a lot of religious art on the walls. Good value for Sanremo. Nothing objectionable, but felt a little dated and past its prime.
Good service, professional staff, good break fast
Sleepless nights
Although this hotel was in a good position to explore Sanremo, and the building itself was an interesting old villa, the sound proofing was appalling. On both nights of our stay, from 2330 to 0230, it was impossible to sleep for the noises coming from neighbouring bedrooms and from the lift - the loudest lift in all Italy! Sadly, I could not recommend this hotel.
Vintage charm
Cordial staff, vintage charm hotel, good location and great restaurant recommendations!
back to the heydays of the riviera
a wonderful period hotel with a real sense of style - not the typical off the shelf furnishings that you find anywhere in the world. Close to the seafront yet set back up a hill and hence very quiet. good breakfast buffet again served in lovely surroundings. Free car parking was a bonus.
Excellent Affordable European Hotel
The Villa Maria is excellently kept in an old Italian Villa. The rooms are clean, with cool antique furniture and the staff is attentive. Be aware that it is a European hotel- so the showers are in the tub with no curtain, and breakfast is the same every day- but it is at the top of what you should expect unless you are staying in a super-luxe resort type place. We stayed there for 10 days and loved every second. It is a truly special place. Be warned as well- for those with limited mobility, the hotel is at the top of a steep hill, my 70 year old mother occasionally found the walk home a little challenging, but was able to push through- though people in wheelchairs or severely limited might want to stay somewhere not on a hill. Otherwise, it's a great way to work off all the pasta and wine you will have while in town.
nice hotel
a lovely old fashioned hotel. Good breakfast and dinner and well situated in San Remo. Staff are lovely and the old villa is like a museum !! We had good room with ensuite and the room was little small but had balcony. We had parking too. The hotel is owned and run by a religious foundation. There is no bar or room service or day time drinks but wine is available in the evening at dinner.
A hotel full of character
Staying at Maria Villa is just like staying in an old family mansion which is exactly what Maria Villa is, a 100 year old former family mansion. Our room on the second floor was huge with at least 3.5metre high ceilings and the original timber floors. The bed was very comfortable with good quality linen and a choice of blankets or duvet. It is high above the town in a quiet location. The hotel has many original features including the main hall which is superb. Breakfast was more than adequate and we ate dinner at the hotel as well. We would stay there agin.
Great stay in a great Palazzo
This is outstanding accommodation with old world charm. The three buildings that make up the Palazzo are about 100 years old and require some basic maintenance however the buildings themselves are magnificent and particularly the public areas. The outside grounds are beautiful and well maintained. Great free parking, walking distance to the city. The staff were welcoming and helpful. We extended our stay to enjoy the Palazzo and Sanremo. Great shopping in a very clean and well loved city.
Worth a punt
We read the reviews before booking and were intrigued. Was like staying in someone's (large ) home.Needed a phone call to be made in Italian and desk staff were very helpful.Rooms a little on the small side but was convenient for tourist areas ,had free parkinginteresting surroundings , was clean and we were pleased that we had made the choice. Would not be suitable for disabled or elderly people because it is on a steep hill.Looking for something quirky and with its own chapel? This is the place to choose
Hotel Villa Maria-Misleading Ad on Internet Bookin
This Hotel Villa Maria was advertised on the online booking service as misleading! It was advertised. As having a swimming pool, tennis court and other activities available but nothing of the sort. When we had entered our room there was no air-conditioning,no ceiling fan,no cooling at all,we asked for a fan and received a small fan to help us sleep at night as we were holidaying in the hot season.Other guests who arrived the same time we did seemed very surprised as well as it was non-refundable .........
The perfect location with the perfect price.
Stayed at this hotel in July 2011 with family and I have nothing really bad to say about it. It's close to the beach, close to the casino, basically it's in the perfect spot to walk wherever you want. The place is old, but more of an antique old rather than nasty old. It's a very religious hotel, religious pictures are everywhere, so if you're bothered by things like that, then this place isn't for you. The only odd thing was that there were 5 separate twin beds rather than 2 double beds, possibly because of the shape of our room, although that was no big deal. There was free parking and free breakfast, which was good. Croissants, coffee, cereal, cold cuts, bread, jams...etc. If you're looking for a typical "American" breakfast with eggs...this is not it. The only possible deal breaker with this hotel is that there is no air-conditioning, only a fan. It's old, which is probably why...but if you open your windows or balcony doors with the fan on, it's not hot and the room cools down.
great place with a bit of noise
I just spent three lovely nights at the Hotel Villa Maria. Great service and fantastic location. Very close to town center and to the beach which was perfect for me. The sad thing is that I wanted to sleep with my windows open at night, but the seagulls were quite noisy and it was difficult to sleep. The soundproofing in the hotel isn't that great, but it's what you expect with an old building. Quite charming, though. Also a little grocery shop just down the street.
nice hotel
Had very good time. Weather was nice. This hotel is close to shops ,restaurants and cafes.
Okay hotel if you are on a tight budget.
I was disappointed in this hotel. The room was large, but shabby. I don't know when it was painted but it's time for a fresh coat! You could not read in the evening because the lighting was so poor. Beds were comfortable and rooms were well cleaned. Breakfast was really poor quality croissant and rolls. Good location. HORRIBLE parking lot!
Good stay
Very good old world hotel in a great part of Italy. Warm and friendly, staff very helpful.
Lovely
Booked a room for two at the Villa Maria same day on a whim. What a lovely, lovely hotel. Would love to know it's history.
Cheap but not Cheap!
My wife and I spent three days in this hotel mid September and the weather was sunny and hot. Rooms* are over-sized and comfortable but very old. Water takes time to heat up so you might spend some time in the bathtub before it gets there, if you are on the third floor (I recommend third, because of the view!). No air-conditioning, some rooms have fridge, some don't, and TV set is size of my GPS! Very small breakfast (a bun and croissant, coffee and milk or tea, some cheese, cornflakes and fruit yogurts...), so you might end up eating sooner then expected. But I must say, that receptionists were all very helpful and grateful after a small tip. *room that we first got is equipped for people with disabilities, so it is good to know that they have one.
Piece of old Italy
Neat old Villa. Feels like walking through someone's family home. Not modern. Charming older furniture, but everything was very clean. Crisp linens, etc.
Definately worth another visit
A lovely hotel, very helpful staff, excellent location, with an easy walk into the centre of San Remo. Very good value for money.
Typically Italian
A typical "grand style" Italian hotel. Large rooms with ornate furniture, efficient staff, excellent location close to the town but the road outside is very noisy.
Good room for money
Hotel was in the past part of a religious organization and its furniture even in the common areas is a great example of well-kept antiques. Even the tapestry in the well-run restaurant was outstanding. The hotel is surrounded by very old and tall palm and pine trees, inviting different species of birds with a continuous concert of songs even during the night.
Short Walk to Casino,Restaurants,Shopping But...
But...It must have been a fabulous Villa in it's time but very little has been done to stop the ravages of time and weather. We had a tired looking room with at least 12' ceilings' with a small balcony at the front of the building. It overlooked a garden and the family chapel. A traveller's time could be spent on the floor with a gigantic fireplace and various sitting areas. It seemed that there were several long term guests who "live" in the Villa. A continental breakfast in a garden terrace room was included in our plan and there was a menu as well. The staff were pleasant, professional and few. The BIG bonus to this hotel is it's proximity to everything especially the casino, downtown/the ancient core village la Pigna, restaurantes and the sea and boardwalk. We didn't need to use our car which was safely parked for free within the Villa property. There as also a small shop close by. There was no view of the sea from our room and no fridge or coffeemaker. I didn't mind the hotel, I'd stay there again because I actually enjoyed the feeling of it's past glory but it is not a big chain with all the bells and whistles. I'm not sure it would have been an appropriate hotel when our children were very small. It is a certain type of traveller that could appreciate this type of accomodation. It was a VERY good value to me.
Value for money
Very good value for money hotel and within a short walk of beach and harbour.
Great location with traditional decor that looks great
Great value hotel. And bathroom was new and modern. This is a traditionally decorated hotel with old paintings and proper wooden furniture...so do not expect swanky designer sofas or glass tables.
Sehr gutes Frühstück
Propreté a revoir
Stanza pulita , colazione insufficiente
Posizione ottimale Parcheggio gratuito Personale gentile Colazione buona
Richtig gut 👍
Magnifique Bien placé Propre
Très sympathique et professionnel
Bien
God valuta for pengene...
Sehr stilvolle alte Architektur, ruhige Lage und sehr zentral
Well located hotel
Very well located, a few meters away from the Casino. Charming Palazio.
Faible chaîne TV Établissement à refaire quand même car très agréable
Mysigt
Buona posizione, a 5 minuti a piedi dal mare. Camera pulita. Hotel stile antico.
Sjarmerende Villa Maria
A conseiller.
Pulita e tranquilla, personale molto cortese.
Sanremo Hotel
Very nice comfortable room, very nice shower, excellent location for walking to see the sites of Sanremo
