Travelled from Birmingham with my 2 young children, was supposed to be staying there for 2 nights but on arrival it was closed up. Waited 20 minutes and i then realised nobody was there. Stranded with 2 children no knowing where to go i headed off to look for somewhere to stay for the night. This made our whole experience horrible and very stressful. In the end i only ended up staying in london for 1 night and had to pay for another train ticket to get back home. I would never book with this hotel again.
It is a good location with good price. But room and washroom are little bit small.
We got a basement room, awfull, but they were helpful and found a nice room on the 2nd floor.
Clean and easy access to eateries & station
Very poor property condition. Location was good. Room very congested with poor heating condition.
Check in was quick and easy and the person was very friendly. The room was clean and tidy and had everything i needed or would have expected. Unfortunately the window had been left open fully which meant the room was freezing and took a while to warm up on such a cold day
Poor
The service was ok in my room the toilet seat was broken shower head was glogged with limescale not much hot water my blanket was stained bed frame was flimsy and I didn’t like having to leave my hotel key at the desk when I went out my son ordered a continental breakfast and was given a boiled egg and cheese sticks not worth £200 for 2 nights
Weekend trip
It wasn't too bad. Only issues we had: no socket next to my bed so couldn't charge phone and using it in a same time while relaxing. 2bugs racing over my trainers :)
This is our fave place to stay when we’re in London. The staff are great, the breakfast is lovely and there are 3 tube stations close by.
Hot breakfast at the best location!!
Excellent location for walking or underground. Loved the proximity from Hyde Park for down time!! Edgeware station allows EASY access to ALL the hussle and bussle London has to offer. Excellent breakfast!!
The staff service is good, however, the room is tiny, and the water pressure was extremely low, everyday didn’t feel really take a shower.
The staff at this hotel was very friendly. However the condition of the hotel is lacking. We booked a family room which consisted of one double bed and three single beds for the kids. Beds were adequate. Room was in the basement down a narrow staircase that was hard to get down especially with any type of luggage. There is a very small lift but it did not seem to have a button that would take you to the basement where our room was. There has to be one because I know the lift goes down there but it was not apparent which button it was. Since it was late and we wanted dinner by the time we arrived we just used the narrow staircase. This was not ideal with a large suitcase. The room itself had some peeling paint and was a bit rundown. The electric shut off briefly while we were there which had the girl at the desk running around trying to figure out how to turn it back on. There is a breakfast there but we had an early flight so we did not have breakfast there. We only stayed here one night at the end of our trip so we could be close to Paddington station. It was ok for one short night but I would not want to stay there for any length of time.
Hyde park
Lovely time Ideal location
No!
London is not an easy City to find good accommodation... But this is really bad
Great location, front desk couldn't do enough. A very pleasant stay thank you!
The pictures are misleading. Rooms are very small and not clean. The fan in the room had lots of dust. Bathrooms are small and water pressure very low. Light bulb don't work and has not been changed in a while. The staff is pleasant but the cleaning staff and the property manger needs to do a better job.
Great family vacation!!!!
The location was great - very easy to get around London. The room surprised us. It was very plain and very small. The beds are all that fit in the room. However, the employees were pleasant, and we weren't there to spend time in our room. The beds were very comfortable!
Disgusting
Ok
Ok, room not exactly large, great for love-birds or a single person (I had a queen room, I think). Nice design. Typical London-friendly staff. Not extremely central, but walkable.
I didn’t like any of it, disappointing!!!!! Gruby, broken mirrors, creepy crawlies, miss match furniture. Dangerous steps everywhere where little toes could get hurt on.
Worst ever hotel, dirty, and not so good evitoment. Should be out of Expedia or Orbitz
Good hotel in a convenient place near tube stations
Pros - clean room, good breakfast. Walking distance from underground station. Cons - room was tiny and really hot with no air-conditioning. Horrible wifi.
Every rude staff . Very dirty facility . And so noisy and lousy
Not worth £340 for 2 nights
Upon arrival the staff were extremely rude speaking to us like idiots and being very patronising. The staff were quite rude during our whole stay and were not very helpful. The bathroom is very small and it smelt very bad, as there was no window we had to leave the fan on all night to try and get rid of the odour. We were in the family room, there were plenty of beds (3 single beds and 1 double) but there wasn’t much space to put our luggage. The beds were clean and somewhat comfortable which was good. The breakfast was okay but the eating area wasn’t very appealing. Overall I wouldn’t recommend a friend to stay here. The only good thing was that it’s close to local attractions like madame tussauds and right next to edgware road where there is lots to do and lots of places to eat and dine.
Not good
We stayed for 2 nights, room not clean in any way. Room far too small for 2 adults, bathroom smelt of urine, felt dirtier after a shower! No air con, fan was useless! Hand rail from breakfast room absolutely black with dirt! Men on front desk rude and aggressive! Would not recommend!
A bit tatty in places but generally clean; it made an affordable base for our trip and the breakfasts set us up for the day. Friendly staff, I would stay there again
Not great!
In dire need of renovation. Uncomfortable. Smell of damp.
Nice hotel near Paddington Sta. & other transport
I can’t say enough about the staff. The gals in the kitchen fix your full English breakfast the way you want it. The people at the front desk are extremely helpful especially Natasia, and Irena.
Clean hotel. Friendly helpful staff. Close to marble arch
GREAT LITTLE HOTEL
Great little hotel. Good location - close to central London and all the main tourist areas, easy walk to Paddington and Edgeware Road stations, loads of little bars and restaurants, nice mix of cultures. Excellent breakfast and great service. This is an older property so no air conditioning, not all shiny and new. But more character. All in all, perfect for what I needed and great value for money
Great location. Very clean. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful.
Good location and friendly staff. The only downside was that the room itself needed some renovations, f.e. newer furniture and to be painted.
Clean hotel, with good breakfast, just 10 minutes from oxford street.
Weekend Break
We got there about 7.pm, so had to take what they had, actually it wasn’t a bad room it would be a lot better if they’d take the time to give it a lick of paint. The concertina door to the bathroom was split up the middle, but I mentioned it to the gent on reception & he said he’d get maintenance on to it & he did, it was quickly replaced. The breakfast was good & freshly cooked, the staff are all very friendly & helpful, we like this area of Paddington, it’s really handy for both tube stations & buses, (although it’s only a 10 minute walk to Oxford Street). We’d definitely stay here again.
All a bit bleak...
Bit bleak and plain. Appreciate it is a central London budget hotel - so not expecting the Ritz! Room was very bleak with no carpet only laminate and noisy room at the front. No bedside light and quilt on the bed bought from Woolworth's circa 1975. Needs bit of a face lift. No heating. Plus point was the small but complimentary English breakfast. Staff friendly.
Very handy for Paddington and Edgware Road
We wanted a hotel near to the station as we arriving in the evening and this was just a short walk away. It was also very close to the Edgeware Road and tube station so easy to get to other parts of London. The room was quite small but clean. Breakfast was ok. The staff we met were all quite friendly.
Not worth the money.
Location is noisy, beds and furnishings are worn. The breakfast is dated and could offer more choice.
The stay was comfortable. Towels changed everyday.
We loved it
Was amazing we are a family of five was perfect for the price and breakfast included the location wonderful we couldn't ask for more
Great location - Basic Hotel for Seeing London
Great, basic hotel within easy walking distance of Paddington and near many restaurants, stores, ground transportation. Hotel is well kept, has an elevator, mini fridge in room and good cooked breakfast. Staff is friendly and front desk is available 24 hrs. Hotel is near a hospital so ambulances zip by on occasion, but it's in a good location for seeing London. Would definitely stay here again next time we visit London.
Extremely disappointed
We got a small dingy room in the basement where 4 small beds were laid that left very little space to even move around. The bathroom was extremely tiny. Outside our room were piles of blue laundry bags. We also saw small ants crawling on the floor of our room. The area did not look secure as we constantly heard loud police and ambulance sirens even during late nights. People were heard arguing loudly outside our room. Not a safe place to stay in my opinion.
Not clean
Food was OK for breakfast. But the hotel room was not clean and bedrooms used what appeared to be old bed sheets.
Wasn't sure what to expect but was pleasantly surprised, hotel was clean, staff were pleasant and helpful, food was good. Hotel was ideally located for touring London as bus stop was just round the corner, not really suitable if you're after night life as area is all hotels. I would stay again if visiting London
Good value.
The hotel was close to transportation services. 24/7 staff availability. The staff was very helpful and pleasant. We had a room with 2 twin beds and a full sized bed not leaving room for anything else but it met our needs. The room was clean. The water pressure for the shower was not great. Good breakfast evert morning.
Good
Good location and good rooms.Little bit small but ok
Nice hotel
Overall it is good, clean, and the staff very nice.
convenient friendly staff and great value.
we went to hyde park for winter wonderland within walking distance with three young grandchildren who loved every minute and are already asking about another visit and we will be enquiring again about the haven B/B .
Horrid hotel- avoid at all costs
I knew something was up when on arrival I was asked to pay straight away and was given a receipt which stated in bold no refund will be given. Room was below ground level with a window onto a corridor. four beds were crammed into a room which was barely big enough for one. Bathroom was horrid with grey slime leeching from shower head. Noise during the night was terrible with a lift going back and forth and neighbors in other rooms partying. didn't bother staying for breakfast as it looked so rough. overall this really was a terrible experience. We should have saved money and not bothered to go to London Dungeon this was worse!
Friendly budget hotel
Small but comfortable and clean rooms but better than expected. Breakfast was fine, all I wanted.
Convenient location and good breakfast. Will stay again if need arises
Not bad for London
It was clean and a short bus ride from all the iconic tourist sites. The room was small. The elevator was the smallest I have ever seen in my travels on six continents. Given the fact that London is generally like an elite reserve for the super rich, the hotel was an affordable foothold for one night. It was reasonable value for London.
Nice area for site seeing close to stations
Hotel was excellent, room was a good size we had a double and two singles so it was my loads a room but for one or two nights it was perfect , breakfast was hot and lovely the staff are really friendly and me and my two kids had a wonderful stay
About Right...
Hotel is old and a bit run down and is very unglamorous. Staff were friendly and the room was neat and clean enough. I had to ask them to clean the shower because when I used it te first time the water wasn't draining properly, I assume it was clogged up hair and the like...yuck. But they did it pretty much straight away and after that it was fine. there was left over rubbish under the beds from previous guests but beds were clean and comfortable. It seems very expensive for what it is but I think it is just the going rate in the area.
Dirty Rooms
The first room was dirty, the room was very very small and the beds were so old they sagged!!!! I complained to reception who responded well by saying they would see what the could do. Within a few mintues they moved us next door to a family room, which was better but still dirty. Overall the rooms needed redecortating but if they had at aleast been clean that would be a start!!! Why on earth can't they provide clean rooms??
Friendly but very basic facilities
Staff all very friendly, efficient and helpful. We booked a double got a twin but beds comfortable and good size for singles. Room very small and noisy, but clean.Electric socket hard to access for kettle. Couldnt fit kettle under tap so had to use one glass available to fill. Had asked for another glass but none available. Hotel asked guests to use Plastic and foam cups at breakfast although some mugs were on a tray beside coffeee machine. Cooked breakfast was ok and came very quickly.
Functional basic room. Breakfast good
Great little hotel for the price
The hotel itself was ok the lobby was very clean and inviting and staff were very friendly and helpful. Was central for lots of sightseeing which is what we went for. The only negative was the bathroom the shower head was quite dirty and covered in lime scale..
Nice little room, clean and tidy.
Overall very good experience. Close to all places we wanted to visit. Nice traditional breakfast. Very vlean rooms cleaned daily with always fresh towels. Bit hot when suuny but thank to staff we had large fan to make it better. Recommended
Couldn't fault it!
Can't fault it. Perfect service, the staff couldn't have been more accommodating and helpful. Will definitely stay again.
Good breakfast
Has potential
Hotel has potential. Rooms are small and in need of some repairs. Walls were paper thin and we could hear everything in the rooms next door. There were a lot of people hanging out around the front and lobby; however, they were not guests. Would not have felt safe walking in the area at night. Didn't like that our door wouldn't lock from the inside and we had to leave our room key at the front desk when we wanted to leave the hotel. Receptionist who checked us in was friendly but will not be staying here again.
Great hotel for location, budget. Great breakfast
The hotel itself is small and simple. The staff was very welcoming and the check in process was quick and simple. The room itself was as expected. Small room with a TV, hot water kettle, and mini fridge. The bathroom was clean and tidy but the bathroom door was one of those plastic accordion doors and it was in need of replacement. The bed was comfortable (not hard but also not too squishy) and we both got a good night's sleep. Location is perfect if you want to be near Paddington and Kings Cross Station.
Simple and cheap
So I knew not to expect much from this hotel seeing the price of it ... It's a bed in a room with a bathroom. Mini fridge was nice since the tap water only came in warm and hot. The fact that breakfast was included definitely cut on some of the costs. If you plan to visit London, this hotel is a few blocks from Paddington and the Tube, and is a decent place to lay your head down at night. I definitely wouldn't spend more time at the hotel then needed but it was good for sleep. Also, if you have a load drunk neighbor yelling on his phone in the room next door, you will definitely hear everything. That was the only person we heard ... so it's probably not that bad.
Adequate
Staff were very friendly, mop lite & helpful. Rooms were clean but shabby & in need of a makeover. Quite a lot of noise from air con unit outside at night. Breakfast was pre cooked & Luke warm Adequate for a one night budget stay.
clean hotel, close to the tube.
Clean hotel, small rooms, clean, difficult to unpack clothes. Staff was friendly, cooked breakfast was good. Location close to the tube was a plus.
Staff and breakfast were the high points.Very basic room. No bedside lights just the ceiling light. No hairdryer, no plug in washbasin.
From Liverpool
Arrived late but this was not a problem, staff were friendly and welcoming and the girl in the reception has a lovely warm attitude and very helpful, there is no parking there but they sorted me out with free parking without too much hassle! We got far more than what we paid for and the breakfast was fabulous!! And the girl who was doing the breakfast was lovely too!! Thanks Haven Hotel and see you very soon!!
Good location
Excellent neighbourhood, we enjoyed our stay at Heaven Hotel.
Stay at Haven hotel for vist to Winter Wonderland
We stayed at the hotel for 3 nights to visit Winter Wonderland at Hydr Park. The hotel was nice and close to Hyde Park and was within walking distance. The staff were friendly and helpful. The cooked english breakfast was nice and again the staff were flexible and the breakfast was nice. The rooms were clean and the bathrooms as well were clean. the showers were good and warm and had good pressure. Overall this hotel was good value for money and staff were friendly and helpful and it suited as well for the visit to Hyde park
Pretty nice full Englisf breakfast for free
Staffs are good. Free full English breakfast is really nice. But,...
Good Value
Hotel excellent value, staff very friendly and helpful, Room basic, but clean, good location for Paddington station, Bus services to Oxford Street, and shops on Edgeware Road. Will book again
not bad
the hotel is in a good location but is a busy street and very noisy during the night. The room was small but was fine just for two nights. The breakfest was ok.
Good hotel close to lots of links for seeing the s
..................................................
We were first taken to a different room than we had booked and when we requested a different one were made to wait for quite a while. Your site said I had a special rate but it was the same as the posted room rate at the hotel. The receptionist was helpful and the breakfast was good
Goodplace in heart of london saves cost for travel
Good Location. Perfect place to stay bang in centre of the city.
Very Nice Hotel,near Oxford street.
A very clean hotel, very friendly staff, allowed me check in early :) I was very tired after a all night travel. I would recomend and stay again, Thank you :)
No frills
We stayed in a family room in the basement, it was a room, we slept in the beds. Not much more I can say.
Good value friendly hotel
Spotlessly clean, room freshened daily. Lovely staff, very polite and helpful. Good breakfast set us up for the day. Excellent location in leafier part of London but still had all amenities we needed on the doorstep-abundance of cafes, chemists, good grocery shops, and a couple of minutes walk to tube. Room fairly small but had a good sized shower room and a small fridge and was fine for 4night stay. Overall good value compared to other hotels I looked at.
Basic but Good Hotel
Room was clean, staff friendly, small but enough of a cooked breakfast. Was very happy with stay and would happily stay here again. This is a basic hotel but I was pleasantly surprised.
Friendly helpful staff, convenient location
I loved Haven Hotel -- I've stayed in a number of budget hotels in London and this was the best for convenience of location and because the staff was absolutely amazing. Helpful with early checkin, really tried to make my stay comfortable after the airline lost my luggage, great recs when I needed to buy supplies, etc. Also offers a tasty full English breakfast (as well as other options) included in price. Highly recommend.
London hotel.
Small room, but it had 2 beds and that's all we needed. Hardly location for central London.
Haven
The staff was nice at all time and I was pleased with my accommodation.
good stay
stayed for one night. Room was clean and free wi-fi worked fine.
Nice location, price reflects the quality.
Nice lady at check in. Room was small but adequate. Bathroom was clean. I didn't like the fact, that when we asked for the key, we just got handed it, without being asked for our surname. Slightly worrying, as you are not allowed to take the key with you... Breakfast was served in the basement. This was prepared to order and was ok. All in all the hotel had been recently decorated, but not with great care to detail. I would stay here again for one night or two maximum, as our room was overlooking the main road (a lot of noise, as to be expected in central London).
fair for the price and the good location
Our room was in the basement. The bathroom door had a damage of flood at the bottom. It took quite long to fill the toilet tank to flush as the water pressure was low. WiFi was busy in the evening. However, the clerks at the front were kind and the breakfast was nice.
Just a bed
If your looking for just a bed in a great location this is it. We had a balcony room had a lot of road noise from the road. The room was hot in the morning too
I'd probably look somewhere else
I wanted to rate this higher, because the price wasn't bad, but there are deficiencies. The good: Rooms are clean, new towels brought everyday, they are small, but bigger than some reviews seemed to say, breakfast and Wi-Fi are included. Very convenient to Bakerloo line and Paddington Station. The iffy/sketchy: You leave the room keys at the desk when you leave and don't need identification to pick them back up!?! The breakfast dining area in the basement is very small and got really packed one morning (they do cook bacon and eggs on the spot for you, but not 5 star gourmet for sure). The included Wi-Fi is spotty and not particularly fast, which seems to be common around London. The room I booked for my friend seemed to have 2 hot water lines hooked up to the sink so he couldn't get cold water out of the tap. Also seemed to have some version of tiny ants(not bed bugs, we checked) going up and down by the radiator in both my and my friends room directly below. Lastly, just for people's reference, while this is near a pretty decent area of the city, this definitely is a multi-cultural neighborhood, lots of Indian and Middle-Eastern establishments nearby(had a great Indian dinner), and a very high population of Eastern Europeans seeming to stay in the hotel in the mid-July timeframe. If I book further in advance in the future, I'd go elsewhere, as a month out booking, I don't regret staying here for the price.
Clean but tatty
Clean sheets & towels. Deferred maintenance for many years; walls, rugs, curtains shabby. Smelled musty. One woman nice, other staff members not so much. Good breakfast.
Disaster all round
I went to stay at the Haven Hotel for one night (which was ridiculously expensive), getting the last room available "Double and two singles" -- however there were 4 single beds when I arrived, the room was not particularly clean, and was far more like a bad hostel than a hotel. I asked to move rooms to a clean one and with a double, they moved me to their sister hotel - the Winrose (two doors down) - equally bad. The lights didn't work, toilet seat was cracked, the hotel did NOT have an iron!! The bathroom was from the 80s, and had a hot-tub bath (which didn't work) and was hideously coloured. To make things really intimate the door/walls tot the bathroom from the bedroom are glass, and not very frosted (leaving little to the imagination). This was the most expensive hotel I have ever stayed in, It was also the worst hotel/s I have ever stayed in.
The hotel is totally uncleaned. It was horrible staying in a Room where you can feel and smell the dust. It is well-located but The building is really old and noisy
Disappointing Stay at Haven
Not good. The only positive was that the staff were friendly. Will not stay here again. Overpriced for what is offered.
Noisy and no working lift, near Edgware Rd station
The room was noisy due to cars and buses and bathroom in need of lots and lots of redecoration. Receptionist was very friendly and there shops nearby and places to eat. Breakfast was English or Continental and was included, ok if on a budget.
a short distance to a tube station and bus stops
I was impressive with kind hotel staff but the facilities such as bath and ventilation were rather poor.
Good bargain, comfortable, fairly convenient
The Haven Hotel was clean and comfortable. The staff helped us check-in before the normal time, expediting the cleaning of our room. The room was small but not unusually so for a bargain in London. There was a lift for baggage. For security, keys are left at the desk when leaving the premises. The Haven is fairly convenient to Marylebone Station for trains and Underground. The neighborhood around it is fascinating and seems to have a large Lebanese population.
Good location, not bad for a two star hotel
Hotel Haven is fine for a two star hotel, it is quite expensive but the english breakfast on offer and good location, provides some value for the cost of the hotel. Staff were helpful and friendly, overall it was a decent stay :)
A Dump
Got rerouted to another hotel upon my arrival at the Haven, being told that they suddenly had no more rooms available and were sending me to a "better" hotel, even after I had a confirmed 3-night reservation in hand through Hotels.com. Sent me down the street, to their sister establishment The Gresham, an absolute major dump, with hair and flea-infested beds and bloodened comforter, stopped up sink with floaty bits…. truly absolutely horrifying and disgusting. I warn travelers, the "Sussex Gardens" hotels are all verifyably major dumps (read reviews on different sites), comfirmed by my stay and cab drivers and Londoners after having shared with them my room's horrors. I immediately left the hotel to a way way cleaner and more respectable place, near Hyde Park, and for only $15US more a night. The Haven and The Gresham are absolute disgraces !!
convenient location
Convenient location, friendly staff and nice breakfast. Room basic but was expected
Go somewhere else
Dirty room, smelly, small and expensive....................................................
The hotel has been closed for the last 2 years!
