Great gay stay in SJ
Loved it! Great gay hotel in San Juan 2 minute walk from the beach and easy uber anywhere. The staff and owners are fantastic!
Such an amazing experience! Love the vibe, the property, it truly feels like home. They are so on top of everything and provide the best local recommendations, friendly and familiar, 10/10
Had a great time at Coqui Del Mar. Great environment, super friendly staff and nice tiny pool and hot tub. Definitely would be back.
I enjoyed my stay! It’s nice to have friendly staff, makes you feel right at home.
Great place to stay. Staff Are amazing. The breakfast are yummy. I had a lot of fun and make nee friends. Is was my fist time and now is the only place I would stay when Im back
An Oasis in San Juan
What an amazing property Coqui del Mar is. Hotel is overall well kept. We stayed at their biggest room, Orange Room, which has a HUGE kitchen, living room, and cute little bathroom. The property is generally well kept, although some areas started to show its age and could use refreshing, i.e. shower in the bathroom, appliances in the kitchen, plants around properties that are not well trimmed, outdoor furniture and turf around hot tub that started to show its age. Location is somewhat walkable, a few restaurants, grocery, and walking distance to the beach. It's also in a gated community that boost the safety while at the hotel. In typical San Juan fashion, there are some areas near the hotel that is a little "sketchy" but you learn to avoid it. Having a safe haven for LGBTQ+ community is such a rare sight these days and Coqui del Mar definitely checks out in that department! We built friendship with other guests, something you can't do at a chain hotel! Definitely a plus! Communication with the hotel was also flawless and they have the best, most courteous staff members! It's a rarity to see hotel staff who cares about their job and want to make sure the guests are comfortable during their stay! I will absolutely stay here again on my next Puerto Rican trip!
SO WONDERFUL!!
this place was the PERFECT location! I had the most warm welcoming and met all the staff during my stay. It was great weather and the amenities were awesome and convenient. I even had the opportunity to meet the host and he even took me out for the night of delicious food! The chef came to my door every morning asking if I wanted breakfast. The beach is minutes away on foot!! Hearing the waves and hearing the breeze was a great way of going to sleep! Will definitely stay again...if available.
Atención y comodidad
Its nice but would not return
Very difficult review as I have mixed feelings about the property. Check in was great, Alejandro showed us around and explained the amenities and was very cordial, so was Ron and loved coqui the dog. They had nice touches like free coffee and snacks. Felt very community like. However, the property has a few issues. We did not get room service for 2 nights and the one night we did, they just made the bed. No towel change, empty trash, etc. The rooms are very spartan and dated. Our bed was on shipping pallets! limited space to store items and the wardrobe had missing handles on one of the 2 drawers. Linens are extremely worn, torn and old. Exterior wise, they had a community fridge, it was a total mess and disgusting, the handles needed a good clean, it was just nasty all around. The ice machine was a joke, a toy in reality. Great for a home but not for a hotel. One issue did not bother me at all but it did bother my partner, was that we learned that Coqui is the name of a small frog that sings all night, and they sing loud. So be warned that you may be in a room where it will be loud. To us, it was not worth the extra money paid to stay in a LGBT friendly place.
I definitely recommend this spot! Was a great way to start my trip. Everyone was so welcoming and fun!! I cannot wait to come back.
We had such an amazing time. We will Definitely be
Gay Paradise
Awesome property. Friendly and helpful staff. The guests were nice and friendly as well.
Jason was an amazing host, the breakfasts by Alexis were amazing and the friendliness of the guests was awesome!
Phenomenal very happy about this stay.
This place was great! Everything was perfect, beyond nice the customer arrive, the comfort, everything was amazing, the only problem is the price it’s a bit over the top pricy because it’s building it’s not fancy, but I guess I need to book earlier to get a better deal. Anyway you will love this place.
Owners were really nice, informative, and engaging. Nice room. Friendly staff. Nice amenities.
The areas around the pool and jacuzzi mesy and yi can see the cleaning devices maybe cuz expent Saturday and Sunday no cleaning personel ...?
Awesome gay guest house with a dog (awesomeness), bikes, kayaks, beach stuff, two pools and a hot tub. The communication was excellent even before we arrived. The owners were always around and it’s clear that this is a passion as they have curated an incredibly friendly and social experience. They even constantly made introductions when new guest arrived. Very inclusive. 👏👏👏
Host and overall community made this place feel like visiting with longtime friends. Property feels safe and welcoming and has all the amenities you’ll need. Was great for a romantic birthday celebration with my partner and a fun party vibe. Host and all employees give excellent recommendations on places to go. Lots of items they loan you to take to beach. Highly recommend for a great gay travel experience!
relaxed, comfortable, clean, nice to be able to interact with other guests, overall a very pleasant experience and I would look forward to return
AMAZING. Perfect place to stay!
One word, AMAZING! The people at Coqui Del Mar were truly amazing. Upon arrival you are met at the gate and shown the property and to your room. Shortly after you'll get an informational text that is SUPER helpful! The rooms are amazing. The property is perfect. Everyone is super laid back. You will not regret your stay. The pools and hot tub provide the perfect place to escape the world. There are some great walking distance options for your needs. I was there for work but can't wait to return again soon!
Helpful and friendly
We enjoyed our stay at Coqui del Mar. The rooms are like individual cabins on the property. It has a very communal and welcoming feel. You got to know the other guests because people would hang out at the pools and jacuzzis, especially in the evenings. It was a mix of ages and body types, very relaxed. The managers were helpful and organized day trips. The bed was comfortable and with the kitchenette, you could be self-sufficient for a longer stay. Location is by the beach and they have chairs + umbrellas to borrow for free. Breakfast was an odd mix, but usually all right. They could fix up some little things around the property (our shower curtain was hanging on its last two holes), but nothing was a major issue and the managers were really attentive when you brought something up. Would definitely stay again.
I really enjoyed my 5 day stay. The owners of the property communicated with individual text messages shortly after my flight arrived. They informed me of the status of my room. Then they let me know when the room was ready. When I arrived at the property I was greeted and given an orientation and shown my room. The neighborhood is safe. The property is safe. It is a 5 minute walk to the beach and a 10 minute walk to the grocery store. There are many restaurants within walking distance. There is a small area within the guesthouse that has items left behind by other guests for community use. This is an excellent idea. From toiletries to ice to drinks, they have it. While I didn't have breakfast or brunch, they do have that and will even make some delicious mimosas for you! Keep in mind this area is clothing optional, so please be comfortable with that. There was no body shaming or anything. There was no presence of drugs during my stay which was nice. There are two small pools and a nice jacuzzi. Guests regularly gathered there and had a great time! The staff is very friendly and clean all areas of the Guesthouse. Because of COVID they do not enter your room, but you can request extra towels and items or service. I did not need any extra service. I had a rental car and was able to park directly in front. I didn't need the car most of the time. Uber works just fine and will arrive in less than 10 minutes and the driver's have great suggestions. I will stay here again!
Complete and new kitchen!
Great location near the beach.
Nothing special at all and dirty place
Cozy Stay in San Juan PR
Was a very pleasant stay, the have everything one would need to hit the beaches (i.e. towels, umbrellas, bikes, etc..). The staff/owners are gracias host.
A Special Place
If you are looking for a cookie cutter hotel, this is NOT the place for you. If you are looking for a place with unique character, a few rough edges, a lot of Kitch, and a warm, cozy/personal feel, you’ll find it here. The hosts are highly attentive, but relaxed. It’s 420 friendly and clothing optional, but never to the point of being offensive to those who choose not to participate. Certainly not the place for everyone, but perfect for some. Sometimes I prefer the predictability of a chain, but if I’m looking for a special place to relax for a while, I’d definitely return.
Great hidden getaway spot by the Ocean
Great staff in a great location. I contacted them in the morning the day I was scheduled to check in and was encouraged to come in earlier to check in. This is an Adult Only place which is the reason why I booked it.
my peaceful and enjoyable stay at Coqui Sel Mar
I was welcomed immediately and treated with kindness. I was given all of the tips that were necessary to make my transition easy and comfortable. I hed a very peaceful and enjoyable stay. I would certainty recommend Coqui Del Mar to all of my friends, partners, and family.
LGBTQ friendly and 420
The guest house has so much to offer during staying from the pool, hot tub, food , coffee, beach day items like sunscreen or beach chairs. We love the location, easy street parking. The owner and manager are really welcome and helpful. I highly recommended!!
The place had a few different hangouts for visitors to use. It was great to bump into them and here about their stories/lives. One night we ended up ordering pizza in and hanging the rest of the night. It reminded me of the place from the show “Tales of the City”.
A wonderful stay
We had a wonderful stay. The staff was really helpful, and our accommodations were clean and cozy. I especially loved the coffee bar...since I'm a big coffee drinker. And it was nice and strong...to get my day started the right way. The pools were nice, and the hot tub was the best. Manna
Wonderful place
Very cool place, 1 block from the beach and they will lend you bikes and body boards for swimming. Went there with my daughter although they are LGBTQ owned/ran we didnt feel out of place or uncomfortable. Very clean non-traditional hotel more like a hostel. I would definitely stay there again next time im in san Juan.
Not advertised as such, but this is a LGBT hotel apparently exclusively. Non LGBT will be the odd one out. Small pool is very clean however the larger pool has a lot of lime. Larger pool also hosts quite risquee situations in the evenings, which can be uncomfortable if non LGBT. If I had known what it was, I would have booked elsewhere...
such a lovely, beautiful place with a lot of amenities to offer, room is tiny, but with everything you need. Only thing is the bed frame is make of raw wood boards and a little bigger than mattress, put some risk to hurt the leg if scratched on the sharp edges
It was a cute place but it advertises free parking which is parking on the street. There aren't any designated parking spaces.
Would highly recommend!
The location was fabulous , just steps from the beach and a moments drive from Condado and Santurce! We thoroughly enjoyed the amenities offered and the amazing friendliness of the staff!
My first time in San Juan
Great location with great service. The staff was very helpful and always available. They have everything you need to have a great experience near San Juan.
A wonderful relaxing "Home Away From Home"
Rob and "V" and Ien (pronounced like Ian) were great hosts. From the moment I arrived they welcomed me and after checking in, Ien gave me a tour of the facility. This is an intimate, "flavor of Puerto Rico" accommodations owned and managed by Rob and V. who also live on the property. It was nice that the door also had a screen door for wonderful evening and early morning cross breeze through to the kitchen windows. Air conditioning was VERY QUIET which I cant say that for some of the more expensive hotels! It is only 12 minutes from the airport and 1 block in from the beach! My suite was very clean and had a full kitchen. I was in P.R. on business so I really appreciated the plentiful outlets that were well placed and the internet was excellent for my work in my room. The "coffee bar" in the mornings is very quaint and well stocked with all the condiments. I highly recommend signing up for the Mojito class on Thursday nights. So much fun!!! They have 2 pools. One is secluded - clothing optional for nice a change of pace!! LOL I must say, the location was excellent - each time I used UBER (3 times), someone was there within 2 minutes! A couple of local restaurants within 20 min walk but there is also UBER EATS along with pizzas for delivery I travel a lot for business to P.R and have always stayed at the normal corporate hotels. Now I will always stay at the Coqui del Mar. I shouldn't tell all this - I'm afraid it will be full when I make plans!!
Great location, very near the beach. Walkable to restaurants, never had a problem parking on street in front of the guest house. Nice comfy feel instead of being in a big hotel, would definitely recommend.
Great stay!
My wife and I spent three days at Coqui del Mar. The hotel is located in a quiet street and one block from the beach. We arrived around noon and didn't have any problems with check-in. Ian is a fantastic host, he gave us a thorough explanation about the hotel and amenities. We stayed at the Taino room, next to the pool. There were some free night group activities such as mojito preparation, unfortunately we couldn't attend any. I enjoyed the free fresh coffee and mangoes from the mango tree. I will definitely stay here in my next visit to San Juan.
The courtyard here is heaven! Feels like a truly authentic experience! Mojito class gave our entire cocktail game a definite boost and hosts go out of their way to make the stay more than just a tourist experience!
The property is in good shape and as described. They are fully equipped rooms and clean. There is free coffee and drinking water provided on site. The property have got nice traditional look to it. The owners are super nice and accommodating I accidentally booked for additional day of stay and they refunded the complete amount for that day (where expedia was't able to help). They also helped me with information like things to do around and restaurants. The checkin was super easy and fast. The owner Robert was responding quickly and really helpful.
A guest house that feels like home 🏡
What a pleasant stay! I found Coqui Del Mar Guest House on Hotels.com and after reviewing many other places, settled on this guest house because I figured for the price of sleeping a family. of five, it couldn't be beat. It was SO much more! We felt like family from the moment that we arrived and the owner Rob, has always been available via phone, text or email. Ian, the onsite house manager is amazing! So friendly, accommodating and attentive to our family's needs (and we realize that they are now moving to an 18+ facility, but thankfully kept our reservation and made us feel welcomed). You have access to pool/ocean toys, free coffee in the morning, towels for the beach/pool/hot tub and a guest refrigerator where folks leave food they haven't consumed, so nothing goes to waste! We had fresh mangos from the mango tree outside of our room and all the amenities we needed in our kitchen, with the exception of a spatula, but we made it work! There's an outdoor grill that we used several times. A short, 5 minute walk to the beach and a quick drive to everything. If we have the fortune of coming back, we would stay here in a heartbeat! Thank you for the awesome stay!
The property is small and cozy. You have access to 2 small pools a hot tub, very community oriented. A little noisy given the proximity of the rooms to the pool. Staff is extremely friendly and helpful. The property is only 1 block from the beach. Great park nearby to exercise. Also, good places to eat nearby.
The location was very near a nice beach area and the bikes were great for riding into Old San Juan. We enjoyed using the hot tub each evening and it was convenient to have the small kitchen to fix breakfast and keep our beers cold. Rob was helpful with suggestions of places to eat nearby.
Fun place to stay. Great location, nice owner, and good vibe.
It was amazing! Nice room, clean, everything we needed in our "El Taino" room. Our room is located next to one of their 2 pools. Management is super nice!! Highly, highly recommended!!! Will return for sure!!
It was rather quieter than other places I’ve stayed at
I really liked the staff the guests were excellent they will work with you and make your accommodations excellent. I enjoyed the start chats easy! Pedro Johnny I can’t name them all I want to thank you all for giving a great experience and love . I can see this to be excellent community . Thank you John for the wine in my room.
