Thank you for a lovely stay. Staff were amazing.
Loved our stay
This hotel was comfortable and clean. Enjoyed our stay
Highly recommend for a stay . Lovely hotel with excellent accommodation and meals and open fire . Stay came with complementary bottle of wine and breakfast . How good is that !! Wished I could have stayed longer
Excellent customer service
Stayed in the Tower Room. Whilst unique, needs to be mentioned it is not suitable for those who find narrow, steep stairs difficult,
Gloriously comfortable bed. Heaven.
Such a a lovely Victorian place to stay. We loved our bell tower room, Cody with 3 levels and l a rooftop view.
Lovely hotel is a great location
Had a lovely stay at this hotel. The host was wonderful and welcoming. The room we stayed in was lovely and well decked out. There was thought for our stay and us as guests at every turn. The breakfast was delicious. Fresh bread and delicious yoghurt and berries. So close to all the best that the Yarra valley has to offer. Would highly recommend this place to anyone.
Our stay in the Yarra Room was very comfortable, and the period furnishings are lovely. It was very convenient to the winery where we were attending a wedding. The staff were lovely. The only downsides were the shower, which had terrible water pressure, and a shared balcony which ran along the front of the hotel - beautiful, but there were people sitting outside our room at midnight making a bit of noise. That's outside the hotel's control though, I guess.
Good hotel . Nice food . Happy
The pub has lovely old world charm combined with modern facilities Hot water could have been hotter but other than that it was very good. Also the dinning options were good .
This hotel is a great base for exploring the Yarra Valley. It's a quirky old building with many original Victorian features, including a very creaky main wooden staircase and an equally creaky four-poster bed (Melba suite). Antique furniture abounds, the lighting is dim and the reverse cycle AC effective. We were also able to park on the main street right outside the hotel, as we arrived after 2.30pm (it's a 3-hour zone until 5.30pm, then unrestricted), which was great as we had international-sized cases. We had no need for the provided earplugs, despite staying on the Friday night of a holiday weekend. The self-service continental breakfast included what appeared to be house-made preserved fruit and yoghurt (which were delicious) as well as some very fresh pastries, along with several types of toast bread, fruit juices and commercial cereals; barista coffee was included and made to order. We'd love to return.
convenient for what we did
Nice and easy check in.
To be honest, our stay was curtailed by a water supply issue. We were told the water would be off for 4 hours so we found another hotel and checked out before our first night. Andrew was very helpful and sympathetic to our plight and arranged a full refund. As to the hotel itself, it was not as Grand as the name suggested. A bit run down and in need of a refurb. Staff (in particular Andrew) were excellent though.
Good location
Very happy with our stay, comfortable room and big clean bathroom. Had everything we needed in the room for our stay. Was very happy with our breakfast. The hotel was charming
Staff very good. Restaurant was great. Large room with a comfortable bed
Staff excellent. Comfortable and quiet.
Great food and ambience.
Staff outstanding, great stay.
Beautiful old property with lots of old world charm . Friendly staff and service
Nicely restored hotel
We had an excellent stay. Exceed our expectations. The bed was comfy. Meals were suberb and we enjoyed playing thr board games that were on offer. Will stay again.
Great service. Great room
Great place to stay with family and close to shops and cafes
Amazing
Amazing experience would def stay again highly recommend
Very friendly, and comfortable. Might be noisy on weekends but thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Nice space, bed was comfy, great water pressure
We arrived after 2pm for a wedding and our room when we got in was not cleaned. We had to go for a drink to wait for cleaning to be done. As wedding was at 4 ,didn’t leave much time for us to get ready. Air conditioning was poor . Overall not a great experience
Yarra Glen & The Grand Hotel
Beautiful area and hotel with it’s rustic charm. The staff were welcoming and helpful. We managed to visit two lovely vineyards and had wonderful lunches. If you don’t have your own transport then you need to book cabs well in advance.
The 4 rooms suited our family situation perfectly. Close to the wedding venue we attended. Breakfast was a great inclusion.
Balloon Ride Accommodation
Stayed overnight for an early morning balloon ride, which was the perfect location for the scheduled meeting place, being a 2 minute walk up the road. We stayed in the Melba Suite, which really could not be considered a suite, however, it was very clean and comfortable, except fo the old four poster bed, which squeaked and squarked with every move. And it was the same for the old creaking staircase leading upstairs to the rooms! Parking is in an open dirt carpark beside the pub and accessible by everyone attending the pub. Overall I feel the overnight stay was overpriced for what you get.
Steeped in history and alive with vibe ! We were greeted with the best service possible - even asked if my bag needed carrying up stairs :) We were very lucky to squeeze in for dinner and we were not disappointed - entree was the japanese pancakes which were a delight and for mains the barra was sensational and the mash creamy and salted to perfection. The wait staff were THE most EFFICIENT, helpful and hard working i have had the pleasure to watch work the floor - a credit to them all. We elected to stay in the tower room and it was amazing, eclectic and full of surprises and treasures. We would definitely stay again and thank you for such an experience.
Staff were great, older byilding but comfortable. On top of the pub but was uiet night so slept well. Well priced.
Staff were helpful and very friendly and always offering to assist in a genuine manner
easy parking check in easy staff great
Great hotel accomodation -but noisy as you can hear the traffic outside -they did leave ear buds out for us ! Only there for wedding close by ! But was clean and comfortable -would stay again
Very friendly check in and lovely staff. Great bistro meal. Comfy room
The moment you walk in the door it feels like home!
Very accomodating - amazing breakfast team!
Loved the friendly staff - always willing to help and answer questions. Comfortable spacious room and lovely hot shower. The food was amazing and the best was sitting by the open fire with a delicious meal and a nice glass of local wine Loved our stay Glenn and Mandy Donovan
Very convenient to surrounding attactions. Joel ans staff were very accommodating and helpful to us.
The old worldliness of it
Friendly service and a great meal
The Grand is a beautiful piece of local history and the staff are very friendly. It was a great way to spend a weekend.
Loved the building and the staff were all fantastic rooms are nice and big we all had a great weekend together and must say bar staff Saturday night were fantastic and so hopefully
I left my AirPods in the hotel room and didn’t even realise for a week. Staff found them and returned them to me. Thank you YVGH
Charming old hotel
We liked the beautiful old world charm, the big bedroom with lots of sunlight coming in from the huge timber windows and huge bathroom. Slightly noisy at night from creaky floor boards and a smoke detector battery beeping in the outer hallway.
Potential but need improvement
Pros. Good sized rooms with comfortable beds. Food was delicious. Complimentary continental breakfast. On site parking. Friendly staff. Cons . Clutter left around the hotel. Extremely long wait in Restuarant for dinner. overpriced drinks. Staff at bar standing around talking about having Covid parties. Hotel has lots of potential but for now This place was not for us.
Poor preparation of room. Long wait for meal 80 minutes, without being given information that this would occur
Ok
The staff were very sweet! We had the breakfast and ran overtime but they still let us stay and finish off our meal before they started packing things up.
Everything you expect in a nice hotel room with lots of old world character and charm.
Lovely country pub, friendly service
Clean room, comfy bed, friendly helpful staff- really enjoyed our stay.
Stunning old building with loads of character and friendly and helpful staff. Walls are a bit thin between rooms.
Liked the original old style features and service provided by the staff.
Lovely older style hotel...
Lovely stay, very comfortable bed, great shower. Restaurant food is also delicious.
Get away
Lovely stay, clean comfortable. Great breakfast. A bonus was sitting have a quiet drink on the upstairs balcony.
It’s all about the Tower Suite!
The Tower Suite is an ABSOLUTE MUST! Stayed on a Friday night, the pub packed (we did have a reservation which is recommended). Brilliant t stay and won’t be the last. Thank you.
Noise from downstairs can be heard in the rooms from after dinner until late and some food was bad, had to take it back but given another meal.
best value luxury in the Yarra
This is a find. It was cheaper than very average hotels in the area and it was GORGEOUS, a grand old hotel. It even had a bath. The food downstairs in the pub was amazing and you even get a free brekky. But its a good quality continental buffet. Good bread, good coffee...and as much as you want. My last night on a 4 day road trip, this was the perfcct treat
Loved the sense of history! It was a step back in time. Very calming indeed. Just what we needed.
Certainly a GRAND hotel
A lovely overnight stay at this historic hotel, as a first hotel stay as Covid19 restrictions are eased. The staff were friendly and welcoming. Dinner in the restaurant excellent value. The room was most comfortable. Big bathroom with great bath, but water took a long time to heat up. The bed was very comfortable although a bit high for me to get in and out of (I had a sprained wrist). Parking on site. No noise issues but there was no entertainment in bar etc due to Covid restrictions. We enjoyed our stay and would certainly return.
Quirky old pub with great vibe. Be prepared for stairs however. Lots of interesting little corners and old world style.
The socks as a gift were unique apart from that nothing stands out. The service, the breakfast and the staff were appalling.
Beautiful old country Aussie pub
An overnight stay while attending a wedding nearby. Beautiful old world country Australian pub with heaps of old charm but with all the modern food and drink requirements. Looking at the pub we saw a very tall tower as part of its structure. Well that ended up being our accommodation. Four levels, bedroom and bathroom first level was beautiful with sitting rooms above leading to drinks area with stunning viewd on rooftop.Very affordable and close to wineries and Healesville. Would definately return for a weekend getaway.
Stayed for 4 Th time , super place to travel to in 1.5 hrs from c b d and wake up in the country food wine style service tops We’re out doors walks and it’s entrap to many georgeous spots Like the tower room , the live music and the hosts 5 stars
Its a good place to book. Clean for an old pub. Nice place if your staying for a night
Now keeping in mind this hotel was built years ago, it’s got plenty of charm! Such a sweet little getaway. We arrived to a letter in our room with a pair of socks each which was a lovely touch. That letter also mentioned a complimentary continental breakfast which was a nice surprise. Location was good and the food in the restaurant was absolutely delicious. This place had such a great vibe.
Lovely old Hotel
The hotel was lovely, old but not run down. The bedroom was really clean and fresh with a lovely old wooden bed that was very comfy. The continental breakfast included in our stay was also lovely. No complaints at all, we highly recommend a stay here.
Thought it was very comfortable and relaxing ing. Would recommend.
The building
Beautiful old building with all of the original features. Rooms have been lovingly refurbished. Bed was very comfortable. Continental breakfast provided. However, too much water wasted as the hot water took a long time to come through the system. Cigarette smoke lingered through the night in my bedroom from the outside patrons.
What a pub should be. Good feel to it, some interesting history. A friendly step back in time.
Location access to local wineries and businesses in the area a great location
Best chicken parma I've had, wonderful service, great live music and the room was lovely with free fluffy socks included! To top it off great, fun locals to enjoy the evening with. We will be back!
Loved the refurbished rooms. We stayed in a balcony suite. Spacious and very comfortable and loved the decor of the hotel’s earlier period. Staff very thoughtful and enjoyed our bistro meal. And thanks for the jazzy hotel socks! A warming extra treat.
Overall, the house was okay. We had a good stay. Feedback: The "manager house" was needed to access from the back, which is not under shelter. The hotel should provide the better access to the manager house. The heater in the living hall was not sufficient to heat up the entire living and dining hall.
This beautiful historic building, unique architecture, high ceilings and beautiful features but hotel bathroom was too old, shower head splashed water everywhere on the floor as the design of glass screen didn’t cover the whole area.
A Gem in the Yarra Valley
Beautiful rooms attached to hotel . Spacious clean and quiet. Close to attractions of Yarra Valley
Old world roomy rooms. Neat and tidy.staff excellant.
Clean and comfortable. Very old worldly. Centre of town.
Comfortable clean room albeit dated. Staff very friendly and helpful. Characterful. Public areas need updating. Tired and lacklustre.
Cool to have the bel tower, good location and close to selection of attractions. Bed was comfortable
The bar and beer garden old but good service a little slow maybe because a weekend,
Expensive for what was offered, breakfast was cereal and toast.
Love the vintage style of the hotel. The front room with the balcony was lovely and gave us some space to sit out there and take in the peacefulness of the town. Great location for visiting wineries in the Yarra valley. Bed was super comfy, I had a great sleep both nights - the blinds were also block out which was fantastic. The continental breakfast was also a nice perk especially with those freshly made croissants on Easter morning! Overall we had a lovely stay and would highly recommend.
The rooms were huge and the balcony was great to relax and unwind.
It’s a lovely old property with loads of character. The facilities are fairly up to scratch although the shower in the room we had requires limbo skills if you are tall.
We had the tower room. Very quaint. Lots of perilous stairs to negotiate. Floors were a bit squeaky but overall an enjoyable stay.
Huge rip off. $290 for a extremely old run down room, we checked out 1 hour after checking in. Very disappointing .
Great service and staff! We really enjoyed our stay in the beautiful old hotel.
Comfy Room
Room was lovely and food at the hotel excellent. The breakfast was ordinary. There is nowhere else to eat in Yarra Glen on a Sunday night. The hotel itself is a little tired
Lovely old hotel with original features and ambience. Very comfortable.
The Tower Suite is quirky and fun with amazing views. Very friendly and helpful staff. Surprisingly quiet accommodation. Good value. Highly recommend.
