I was told a bottle of wine would be brought to the room but never came even after a reminder. Our TV remote did not work. Once that problem was solved they told us the TV was only in Spanish. Overall we enjoyed the hotel. A great pool, fun happy hour, beautiful view and a shuttle bus to Tamarindo that was very convenient.
The views and pool are wonderful. The breakfast was lacking. We didn’t have expected bath amenities such as body wash, lotion or tissue overall I give it a 3 star rating.
The people are so rude, unprofessional, not helpful at ALL, they don’t know anything about their own area. They are quick to over charge you and there’s zero hospitality. Even if you speak to them in Spanish they are still illiterate. Never going back again.
Beautiful clean hotel that has outstanding views of the ocean.
I enjoyed staying here as it was out of the busy downtown core. The free shuttle provided was very convenient and easy to use. The pool was very nice with view. Loved sitting out on the balcony at sunset. The only complaint is the cost of the food was very expensive. The breakfast buffet was always stocked and great options.
The view is beautiful.
The pool and view are beautiful, but our stay was a true nightmare. The first night we arrived, we had dinner at the restaurant. The food was delicious and the service was good. Around 7:30, the restaurant and patrons started being attacked by giant flying grasshoppers landing on our tables and on our bodies. They continued throughout our walk through the lobby to our room. The next morning we witnessed a couple being attacked while heading to the elevator. The man said one giant grasshopper had flown at him and knocked his glasses off his face. We left the property and headed to the beach club which is included in the hotel amenities. The beach club was very nice. We left after a bit and walked into town. We asked other hotels if they had a problem with flying grasshoppers and they did not. That night we made sure we were in our room by 5:30, and We moved hotels the very next day. The employees at the hotel, except for one waiter and the bartender at the pool bar, do not represent Pura Vida as in other hospitality areas we have experienced. The place is very nice looking but it’s far away from everything up 3 very steep hills. The hotel website should warn potential guests that it is home to these giant flying grasshoppers,. Im not sure if its the area or the particular lighting at the restaurant that attracts them, as it was not an issue at the hotels closer to the beach.
Expedia misrepresented this property online, stating it was a 15 min walk to beach. We are fit but walking down the three steep hills and to the beach was 25 mins. Walking back would more difficult because of steep, narrow roads. There were few walkable roads nearby without doing hills. Had we known this we would have rented a beachfront hotel. Pool & view were standouts. However there was very limited shading by pool. Internet was horrible. Food was ok though the same everyday at breakfast. Horrible drinks by poolside. People who worked at resort were very nice and accommodating. Shuttle service ran on the hour and were sometimes filled. More frequent shuttle service would have been nice.
Although the hotel was small, it was very compact and beautifully designed and felt very open and airy. Because I have mobility issues, the easy access to the pool and restaurant was a big plus. The long beautiful pool was great for swimming. The staff was extremely accommodating and welcoming.
Great place for the price awesome View
Nice hotel up the hill above tamarindo. A bit inconvenient to go to town but there was a shuttle every hour. Pool was great. Breakfast was mediocre at best.
Very clean place
Great location, very friendly staff. Dining options and convenient store in the installation.
Once again VIP Gold no room upgrade
The view and infinity pool
Beautiful views and location but needs extensive renovations. Bathrooms and AC not working
The hotel has incredible views of the ocean, but the rooms are very old and a bit dingy looking. Nice for the views and pool but overall ok.
Staff were exceptional! View was amazing . Loved the location as we had a car! Happy hour prices were great. Bathroom so small and no hot water, lots of cold showers. Rooms need an update . I would stay here again, but it really needs an update
We had an absolutely fantastic experience at Wyndham Tamarindo. The staff were friendly and beyond helpful! The rooms were clean and the view was stunning. Breakfast was absolutely amazing, we enjoyed the pool, and the hourly shuttle made getting to and from downtown so quick and easy!! Highly recommend staying here! We would come back in a heartbeat!
Amazing views, great staff and very accommodating. An absolute pleasure staying here. Shuttle to the beach and a beach club access too. Awesome..
Beautiful infinity pool over looking Tamarindo Beach. There is an hourly free shuttle to take you to town and back.
Firstly the hotel has a giant grasshopper problem, the issue being after sunset they would appear and once disturbed would erratically fly into you making for an uncomfortable stay. Mindful we are in Costa Rica and nature is part of the experience, this very much felt like an infestation and the hotel seemingly do not have any inclination to try to address the problem . Our experience was made worse by not being warned of the problem, upon leaving our room on the first night we were unexpectedly set upon by these insects. The lifts at the property were very dirty and it is very obvious that they do not form part of any cleaning schedule. The breakfast for me is a big miss, cold hot buffet and limited choices. This being said I believe it is included in the price. The room was relatively clean with daily housekeeping. The bathroom is super tiny and our shower did not work properly (as I understand this seemed to be an issue in most rooms). The towels could do with changing which are threadbare and clearly have reached the end of their life cycle. Ignore the timing displayed for the shuttle bus, this will leave when full and there are only limited seats. The hotel pool is fantastic.
Wonderful and responsive staff under very stretched by the end of the holiday they kept positive if not smiling quite as broadly the only thing that could have been better was more help for them. What did suffer under the service was the quality of food for the special Christmas eve dinner it was a good menu but cold and obviously pre-stored this also pointed to understaffing. The wine was very good.
Would visit again
Room was clean and comfortable. The bathroom is small. Breakfast is a good selection. Staff is friendly and speaks English well. The pool is clean and very nice. There is a free hotel shuttle to downtown and to the beach club. I do recommend using it as the drive although short is chaotic with people, cars. Of the shuttle isn’t able to get you for some reason you can get a short taxi.
Beautiful Mountain View of the ocean. Open air lobby, entrance to rooms, and restaurant onsite so if it’s hot outside you’re going to be hot. Courteous service. Free shuttle into town and beach club access which increased amenities. You have the best of both worlds. Food service speed and quality of alcohol drinks onsite needs improvement. Language barriers at times with staff. Huge grasshoppers onsite!! :). Expedia advertises this as an adult only resort but a small handful of children were there. Not much of a problem though. Complimentary Breakfast is plentiful but repetitive, would encourage hotel to change up the menu more. Overall, a pleasure to stay!
It's a nice hotel, but it should be a lot better for the price. My balcony door did not close, and maintenance fixed it on the first night, but when I opened it the next day couldn't lock it again. The bathroom layout was awkward, the toilet behind the door and super narrow, let's just say a heavier person would probably have to step in the shower to close the door. Breakfast was ok, eggs are organic, but no pastries... and limited fruits. I think for a 4-star hotel they should offer fruits in the afternoon, and the rooms definitely need an upgrade.
The hotel and people are very nice, but it does require a refresh. Elevator areas, stairwells, and rooms show signs of wear and tear and not well upkeep as far as cleanliness. The pool area and bartenders at the swim bar, along with the incredible panoramic view of Tamarindo Beach, make it a great spot to stop in and stay a couple of days. Tell the Bartenders Hola from DJ Mark! Pura Vida!

It is a beautiful resort. So relaxing and lovely.
Wonderful place!
Like: Pool is very nice, clean and new. Disliked: Rude staff - they acted like they were annoyed every time we interacted with them. In addition, housekeeping staff entered our room THREE times while I was taking a shower and the bathroom door was open. As a woman, I felt very unsafe (the housekeeping staff were men sometimes). I asked for no service two times and they continued to enter. This combined with the lack of deadbolt locks on the doors was. not okay. There was also mold in our shower and all over the lounge chairs by the pool. Finally, the GRASSHOPPERS. They are SIX inches long and and there are hundreds in the hallways and all over. your door. When you try to move them away to enter your room, they all flight at directly at you. Also, many times there were over 30 in the elevator waiting for you as well. All night, you can't sleep because you hear other guests screaming and throwing their shoes at the grasshoppers. There are better places that are more friendly, less moldy, and without so many grasshoppers - choose another place!
I wish I could say our stay was pleasant, as the location and views are quite fantastic. Staff was always kind to us, but unfortunately the place is so packed with the giant grasshoppers (who attack) that we were gifted with 10 heart attacks each day trying to escape and fight them in the open air hallways. In addition, we had a very bad experience with the hotel’s tour agency who tried to scam us for double payment and even forged our signature to the receipt he gave trying to claim it was ours. As lovely as the place itself is, could not recommend to stay there.
It is overpriced for what you get. Hotel needs a major upgrade. It is old and outdated. Rooms is ok but bathrooms definitely needs an upgrade. They are old and not all clean looking. Lounging chairs are dirty , property just average. Spa is very mediocre and stuff is not welled trained. I do not recommend to get a facial. That said, stuff is super accommodating and helpful. Everyone was very polite, friendly and helpful. Stuff deserves a 5star. We had breakfast included it did the job. Coffee was the best thing at breakfast. Very smooth high quality.
The hotel was nice and comfortable however it is definitely NOT walkable to the beach. You have to take the shuttle. The shuttle only runs every hour until 9 pm which is huge disappointment. It also needs a sign of where the shuttle pickup in town, hard to find at first. It should run at least until 11 pm which would allow people to enjoy dinner and nightlife. The hotel does not offer any activities or nightlife, or entertainment. A very quiet hotel. The hotel should offer a pamphlet of activities, restaurants, nightlife, entertainment in town.
Awesome
Very nice place everything was great
Nice and quiet
We loved THE VIEW, infinity pool, free breakfast buffet, the transportation to the beach club! Everything was great except our housekeeper was not the best with bringing us fresh towels everyday and the quantity of towels. Everyday we had to ask for something.
good breakfast, nice view but in the hotel are some big insects and is not pleasant
Needs better attention to the breakfast prep, front desk daytime services was terrible
Free shuttle to beach club
Wonderful Staff, Awful Jungle insects
We had a wonderful stay here. The staff are all super friendly and would bend over backwards to help with whatever we needed. The breakfast buffet could use a little variety from day to day. The pool and the views were beautiful. My only complaint would be about the Langostas ( Giant Grasshoppers) that would cover the doors and walkways outside the rooms. You had to be extremely cautious opening your door or they would get into your room and no one wants to sleep with a 4 inch flying grasshopper in their room. They would be in the elevators at night also. They would unexpectedly fly at you. They don't bite but they have barbs on their legs that can scratch you. I know we were in a jungle but it seems there should be some kind of fumigation that would keep them away.
Great
Updates are needed and the breakfast is pretty terrible. Mildew on the pool chairs and little things break in the rooms, toilet roll holder and the sink handle. I got horrible food poisoning on day 2 here and I am still experiencing awful symptoms 6 days later. I never got the chance to eat outside of the hotel so I know it was from here. On the 2nd day of the severe food poisoning I went to the front desk and said how miserable I was and the response was, "Miserable? Really? Come on." I told him I was physically unwell and devastated the food poisoning was ruining my trip. The only compensation offered was to take off the current room charges, which was very little since we were too sick to enjoy anything. The view is spectacular, but not enough to make me stay here ever again.
Hotel was nice with a great view. They were transitioning the restaurant and bar service but the service with the new company seemed better just ironing out some new start details. Staff was kind and helpful. The shuttle to town was great and reliable. Not the hotels fault but be prepared for the large flying grasshoppers that come out and attach at night. Was a bit scary at the restaurant and getting to the room because they fly right at you. They are harmless but quite large
I love this hotel, we’ve been here several times. It’s definitely our go to when in Tamarindo. But, it sucks this time we went with our baby and they didn’t have high chairs available, so that was definitely an inconvenience. Everything else was wonderful.
Loved this hotel. Nice pool, nice staff. Free shuttle into town which we used even though we had a car so we didn’t have to deal with parking.
Well Maintained and couldn’t beat the View and Drinks! The customer service was great and always teaching us new things to try and Enjoy
todo bien
Golf trip
Tamarindo a lively town. Stayed 1 night on a golf trip. Food was great. View was fantastic. I was upgraded to a nice room but it was an accessible room that I am not thrilled about when traveling.
The stay was great! We enjoyed being able to take the shuttle down to Tamarindo and the view from the pool is excellent!
Absolutely stunning property! The staff is simply amazing! I would go here again and again. The massage/spa was so delightful! I got the 90 minute massage and it was truly the best massage I have ever had. You can plan all of your excursions right on the property and it’s so easy. The food is great! This is truly a 10 star resort!
Beautiful view of the ocean from each room.
We loved the view from our hotel room balcony of the ocean, as well as the lush vegetation with birds and iguanas. Absolutely stunning.
The view, pool, room, food, and staff were great. The six inch long, flying grasshoppers that overrun the entire hotel at night ruined our stay. The hotel is open air, including the hallways, so you can’t get to your room without passing 3-10 of them. If you disturb them, or if they feel like it, they fly into you. The staff will happily guide you to your room and clear the way. But if you’re scared, you have to stay in your room before dusk. They are also around during the day, but only a couple of them. The hotel needs to figure out how to keep the grasshoppers out. Or even just most of them.
Absolutely loved this the place The view, the location The beach club is included and they offer a shuttle bus to take you to the main strip
Great staff and a great view. Very clean. I would definitely stay again.
I enjoyed my stay but the restroom needs updating
While the view from the hotel is beautiful and the infinity pool is very nice, there are several areas of the hotel that are in desperate need of updates/repairs. The wood on the tables outside and the covering over the poolbar are rotting. The landscaping/grass in front of the restaurant looks terrible. The curtains in our room had holes and mold. Our room had a very strong musty odor. There was no bedside lighting. The sliding glass door would not lock. The food at the breakfast buffet was cold. Access to the beach club was nice as well as the free shuttle. Also, the staff was friendly. But overall, I was very disappointed with the property and would’ve expected better from a Wyndham hotel. The pictures online look much nicer than the actual property in person.
The Wyndham Tamarindo truly became our home away from home during an extended stay due to unexpected airport closures. Everyone from the front desk staff who were always friendly, helpful and accommodating, to charming and delightful Francisco in the gift shop, to the family team at guest services, who personally accommodated our last minute need for an overnight drive to the San Jose airport.. thank you!! Nothing can be faulted. The daily breakfast was delicious and plentiful (would be nice to be able to take a coffee to go:-) however, lots of options, with slight variations everyday. The ocean view from every room, and the gorgeous pool area is next level!! Shuttle service every hour from 9am-9pm is efficient and reliable. Use of the Langosta Beach Club is a great bonus..so nice to be able to lounge on beach chairs by the ocean. Thank you to all of the staff for making our stay in Tamarindo truly exceptional!!
Amazing hotel
Hotel was beautiful and the breakfast was great. Some of the staff where not very friendly. But overall we had a great experience
Staff was friendly, but we left 2 days early due to an emergency at home and they refused to refund our money for those 2 nights even after providing proper documentation of the emergency.
Views are phenomenal. Staff is amazing.
Best staff. Miss this place so much.
Courtesy Van has only 2 drop off/pickup locations. No bartender at pool most days we were getting our own drinks from the main bar. No hot tub, they ran out of towels for the pool/beach we had to use our bath towels.no was clothes, no way to hang wet clothes to dry, only 2 chairs on balcony
We enjoyed our stay!!
Amazing hotel, great country
We will be back!
The property was nice. However, may need some room upgrades. The pictures don't really look like how the room will be set up. At least not my room. I believe they might be on a Septic tank
na
Nice place very clean
Great views. Clean, comfortable, quiet, and safe place to stay. The breakfast was delicious.
stunning views, bummer it was under construction, but still a 5 out of 5
Nice. I didn’t like that you have to pay for tv service.
It was great
We stayed at Wyndham Tamarindo for 5 days & wouldn’t have changed a thing. The shuttle to town/beach club was always on time & punctual. The staff was extremely friendly, helpful & welcoming. Rooms were just as shown, beach views, quiet, comfy beds, & air conditioned. We loved Wyndham & the town of Tamarindo. Amazing trip & stay.
The hotel staff was pleasant. The room was comfortable and clean. The view from all rooms was amazing.
Beautiful views, amazing breakfast. Awesome beach club access. Staff was incredibly helpful
Staff was very friendly and view was amazing from the room. Rooms could use some upgrades, especially the bathrooms but great for the price.
I recently stayed one night at Wyndham Tamarindo and had a fantastic experience. The hotel’s location offers stunning ocean views and easy beach access. The room was spacious, clean, and well-appointed, with a comfortable bed and modern amenities. The staff were exceptionally friendly and accommodating, making the check-in process smooth and providing excellent local recommendations. The on-site restaurant served a delicious breakfast with a variety of fresh options. Overall, my brief stay was very enjoyable, and I would highly recommend Wyndham Tamarindo for its excellent service, great location, and comfortable accommodations.
the staff was incredible
Super nice people. Nice property and good breakfast!
Comfortable beds!
Nice hotel. The pool needed cleaning and the bathrooms are small, but other than that I was satisfied. The beds were comfortable with good firm mattress. Water pressure was okay.

You better have a car
We enjoyed our stay
I gave this hotel a 2-star and not a 1-star because of the amazing view of the ocean. Otherwise the room was dirty. The toilet was dirty and there was a dirty towel in our room. The walls around the light switch and toilet paper was dirty and you can tell hadn't been clean in awhile. The only staff that was friendly was the shuttle service. The buffet food wasn't good either.
Underwhelming & In Need of Repairs
Our second visit to Tamarindo was underwhelming to say the least. We booked this hotel based on the perception of the Wyndham brand. Upon arrival, everything seemed great with a beautiful lobby & stunning views. Once we entered our room, things turned quickly. The floor was dirty with visible stains in several places and the television was completely useless as the speakers were so blown we couldn’t hear anything but static. The beautiful decor in the lobby was non-existent in the room as it felt outdated, worn & bare. As we arrived later in the evening, we mentioned our concerns to the front desk the next day. We were offered to upgrade for a nominal fee and accepted the charge. Unfortunately things continued to go downhill from there: •AC in “upgraded” room dripped water all night, waking us up & leaving puddles on the floor. • Pool was outdated & hazardous with missing tiles & actual pool lights being torn from their sockets. • Customer service was terrible from the “pool bar” that never seemed to be opened. When asking the main restaurant for service, we were pointed to the pool bartender who was visibly annoyed he had customers & took his time (15 min) to help out. •We asked for pool towels, were told they didn’t have any, we asked for a plain towels & were told there were no towels in the ENTIRE hotel. This lasted almost a single day. Silver lining; view is stunning, however outdated. Needs repairs and simple upgrades. We expected better from Wyndham.
I cannot emphasize enough how wonderful this place is! It’s the best of both worlds: a breathtaking view of the bay and a quick shuttle ride to the beach. And, as a Wyndham guest, you have access to the Langosta Beach Club. We hung out there on two different days, swam in their pool and at at their restaurant. The staff were the most friendly and kind I’ve ever met. They are genuinely happy to assist the guests.
Everything great
Very clean room
It was a wonderful stay.
The view and the hotel location is unmatched. You feel secluded and safe looking over the beach and the city. the infinity pool is relaxing and gorgeous. I felt so at peace here, so relaxed and away from the confusion that be downtown. this was my favourite stay the whole trip and it completely made my trip a lot better! Next time i wont even hesitate and ill book here in a heartbeat!
Highly recommend this hotel if you are coming to Tamarindo. Plus ppint for the exceptional service we received. The rental car had a flat tire at the end of our stay and could not reach the rental company. The hotel staff was super helpful to get things situated for us. Great experience!
The views are amazing! The restaurant has good food for the days you don’t want to go to town. The shuttle is always on time! Amazing experience!
No hot water.
Nice if looking for a quiet vibe
Excellent ocean view but not accessible to water. There is a shuttle service every hour to go to downtown.
Rooms are showing wear dmd tear but the staff are so wonderful and the spa and restaurant were lovely
