We have been very fortunate to have be able to have stayed in some lovely hotels over the years. I believe this may be the best of any of them. The hotel is beautiful, very clean and in an exceptional location for proximity to tourist attractions, restaurants and other ammenities. What makes it better than other hotels that we have used? Without doubt, Harun, the owner and all of his staff. From the lovely check-in procedure to check out time every staff member that we dealt with with was obviously keen to ensure our holiday experience was as good as they could make it. And they suceeded Thanks to Harun and all of them for their considerable efforts

What I liked best about the White House hotel was the welcoming and friendly attitude of the staff. I needed lactose free milk and they went to the store and got it to provide it for me. For a small boutique hotel this one is one of the best.

Great hotel in Sultanhamet!!

Great hotel, extremely well located in Sultanhamet, walking distance to all the major sites. Hotel staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The room was lovely, very clean and comfortable. Would highly recommend this hotel!

This property has great reviews but this is an average boutique hotel. The location is great and the hotel owner cares about the property but the standard room is disappointing (very small, could use updating, and lacked some basics you often see in an upmarket hotel no electrical outlet near the bed, the deadbolt lock did not work, safe too small for a standard laptop, no bathrobe or clothes iron). Most importantly the shower was too small for a 6ft tall person and was similar to what you will find on cruise ships - couldn't shower (which you will do 2x day in summertime Istanbul) without bumping knees, elbows).

The location was perfect. The staff was friendly and helpful. Each morning we had a wonderful rooftop breakfast. I would definitely stay here again if I returned to Istanbul.

My home away from home in Istanbul

I am a frequent visitor to Istanbul. I prefer to stay in the Sultanahmet, because my friends like family work and some live there or near there. I have stayed at the White House repeatedly over the last three years. It is beyond all measure the best hotel in the neighborhood, considering convenience, comfort, service including a true Turkish breakfast, price and all other criteria. For me the only additional thing I could ask is that they install handrails on the entrance from the street stairs that blend with the style of the house.

If you are looking for a very clean hotel to stay in with an acceptable budget then it will be this hotel. We booked 2 rooms after we read the positive reviews about it. Without exaggeration, their cleanliness level is very high standard. There aren't black stain lines in the bathroom, the drainage wholes aren't rusty, everything is very clean . The staff are very friendly and helpful, smiling all day. The hotel manager and owner have great customer service skills. They gave us a welcome drink and lokum when we arrived. The breakfast options and quantity are acceptable and delicious. The hotel location is very near to tourism sights such as aya sofya and tramvay. When we left the hotel manager maneged to prepare us a car with a price less than the taxi price. Also we forgot our things in the hotel and the hotel manager was very cooperative to send us our things by post. For sure I will stay with them again.

The hotel, it’s staffing. Owner, are not just exceptional. They are beyond superb. They are fully fluent in English and helpful in every possible way.

A very enjoyable and entertaining stay in Istanbul, with lovely sites and friendly people. Would do it again! The White House Hotel is/was part of the positive experience too. It is well located near attractions and transportation. The hotel is clean and well maintained. The Service is impeccable, gracious and friendly. Breakfast is good and plentiful, much needed because of all the walking to do for enjoying the city! Rooms are nice, but small. To get around this we chose a triple room even though there were just two of us. Thanks to the owner, Harun Cardirci, Mehmet, Kemal, and the team for making our stay so memorable and comfortable!

The White House Hotel Istanbul is an absolute gem! Great location!! 2 min walk to an array of restaurants with useful advice from the front desk who are happy to call and make arrangements. 3 min walk to major attractions in Sultanmet and to the tram. We reached at 9.30 am after a long flight for a 1.00 pm check in and the hotel graciously accommodated us and a room was ready in 15 min. The room was excellent with classic decor and the complimentary breakfast buffet on the roof top is quite a feast! The staff were welcoming and warm and we felt safe and valued as visitors! Three thumbs up to this lovely hotel!!

I highly recommend staying at this hotel. The location is perfect - walking distance to the incredible sights and fantastic restaurants, breakfast is amazing, coffee is available 24 hours on their beautiful rooftop, but the service is just beyond anything I've ever encountered. Eres at the front desk - hope he's there to greet you - he sat us down for a full 20 minutes at check in to talk about the hotel (naturally) but then went on to tell us about the area, where not to eat, how to navigate the metro system, and he had incredible restaurant recommendations (Old Ottoman was our favorite). He was able to get us a table at restaurants that had turned us away without a reservation. Everyone one working there is gracious, kind, helpful and make you feel at home. There was a handwritten note from the manager waiting for us in our room, welcoming us to Istanbul. Originally this trip would probably have been my one and only visit to Istanbul but rethinking future travel plans, hoping to include this beautiful city and amazing hotel again.

Absolutely the best place to stay in Istanbul. The staff were not just friendly, but went out of their way to satisfy us. If you wanted or asked for anything, it was done. They even got my wife a present when we left. The Turkish coffee was awesome!! I cant thank them enough for the memories!! We were also within easy walking distance to all of the major sites.... i just cant say enough about this place!

The property was on a steep hill and the owner was quite insistent that we used a certain restaurant which was extortionate.Breakfast was quite limited and on a roof terrace which didn't have much of a view.The owner knocked on our door after 11pm to offer us strawberries and chocolate cake but would not leave until we blew the candle out .All in all for the price not really worth the money we paid for the visit

For context, i have worked and traveled in many countries over the past 30 years. I prefer boutique hotels with character and personalized service. The White House far exceeded all of my expectations. The Hotel property was impeccably clean and furnished. The Staff were exceptionally professional yet personable. The owner was present and engaged, making me (and my 95 year old mother) very comfortable regardless of our hurried travel itinerary. Each suggestion for sight seeing, eating, relaxation was reliable. I strongly recommend the White House Hotel, it will be our family's choice going forward! Good location for main sites

Hotel is in an ideal location if you want to visit main tourist spots of basilica, blue mosque, palace and Hagia Sophia. These are literally a 5 minute walk away. The hotel is also very clean and safe, the staff are helpful even though they told us mosque was open and it wasn’t. The hotel also had a small roof terrace. However the breakfast was not the best, with poor choices and pre cooked omelette. We had a standard double room which was very small and was looking dated. The bed was just a double and the pillows were rock hard, mattress was poor. We felt very cramped in general. Disappointed after reading all the glowing reviews.

I would give it a five , but the breakfasts were lacking. Also. they called and wanted to deliver some fruit, but I had to tell them not to because we had ants in the room. Also the elevator was inadequate for the the number of rooms and the only staircase to the roof where you got food was blocked by cleaning supplies. Nice view from the roof of the Blue Mosque some good restaurants around the area, just don’t use Rick Steve’s for restaurants

We had a wonderful stay at the White House Hotel. In addition to the great location for those of us visiting Istanbul for the first time, the attentiveness from the staff and beautiful rooms made our stay so comfortable and relaxing. When we missed our connecting flight and would be arriving much later than expected, I messaged the hotel and the manger/owner replied with such a kind message letting us know we would be warmly welcomed whenever we arrived, which made us feel better in a stressful situation. We didn’t have to worry about a thing during our stay as all of the staff were ready to help us with any requests. The staff and manager were also kind enough to welcome us when we arrived with fresh orange juice and Turkish delight, brought a lovely snack of chocolate and strawberries to our room during our stay, and even offered us coffee or tea at 4am as we waited for our taxi to the airport. I really can’t recommend this hotel enough. Thank you to everyone who made our stay so great!

Wonderful place to stay!!!

We had an incredible stay at the White House hotel! From the moment we booked, the owner and staff were incredibly helpful and accommodating, from the email communication leading up to the trip to our entire stay there. I am on wheelchair, and the staff could not have been more helpful in making sure that the stay was going to work for me, which even meant lifting me up the front stairs, every time I came, and left the hotel. We had wonderful conversations with the staff, and could not speak more highly of our time there. Plus the location is perfect to the most sought after attractions in Old Istanbul, as well as great restaurants. We would definitely stay here again!

Everything was perfect

The stuff was helpful and accommodating. The owner bought us personally plate of strawberries and brownie. They let us to our room earlier than check in time...When we were leaving the hotel they gave us gifts. The stuff was opening door every time we came in, and got our luggage in and out of a taxi. Superb service. Highly recommend it.

One of the best hotel experiences we have had on our travels. The service was extraordinary, the location perfect and the view from their patio, which remains open all day with tea and coffee, is stunning. The staff goes above and beyond.

Before staying I had some questions that I sent via the app and they were always answered in full and promptly. From the moment we arrived Harun welcomed us with a smile, some orange juice, and Turkish delights. He went over the details of our stay and explained how everything was going to work with the reservation and check out. During our stay the staff was always extremely helpful. Taner was at the front desk every morning and would give us excellent tips on where to visit and what to expect and directions. Every morning we were greeted with a smile from Halil in the breakfast area on the rooftop patio and he would ask us about our stay so far and how we are enjoying the stay. Rahman was helpful with getting our luggage to the room and would always go out of his way to say hello when he saw us. There are so many more staff we had great interactions with that I did not get the name of. The staff is top notch and my wife and I can safely say it was one of the friendliest and warming hotels we have stayed at. We highly recommend the property if wanting to see Istanbul.

Great location in old town - easy and interesting walk to major sites and restaurants. From check in to check out the hotel exceeded expectations in all areas! The personal service, especially, provided by the hotel staff was outstanding!

Great service and excellent staff

The rooms are very small. The room you see in the picture is the largest one I guess. The shower is extremely small that you cannot even move around. However, it is close to some attractions. Breakfast is awful.

What a wonderful surprise this place was! From the minute we walked into the room we were surprised at the welcoming message left for us. I won't spoil the surprise for you, but just know that this is the greatest place to stay. There are fantastic places to eat nearby, transportation is readily available, and the staff is just superb. Oh, and there is also a really nice gift for you when you leave.

The hotel is very clean, the staff is extremely helpful, and the rooms are spacious and immaculate! Excellent hotel with excellent location located at the old city center, extremely clean & comfortable . Upon arrival we were warmly welcomed by the friendly owner Harun with glass of juice and Turkish sweets, that was a very pleasant especially after a long trip. We even got an evil eye protection from the owner. Room decor with love sign and welcoming letter from the owner made me and my husband feel special. All hotel staff, from housekeeping, bell boy, servers to receptionist are highly professional and friendly with smiles on 24/7. Outstanding job. Breakfast delicious on the roof area with breathtaking view of Sofia mosque. After long day we were enjoying cup of coffee on the roof with again breathtaking now night view of Sofia mosque. Famous mosques, grand bazaar, shops, restaurants, metro, tramway are within walking distance 2-7 minutes. One of the best locations in Sultanahmet. Would definetely recommend this hotel to everybody! It's a true sample of excellent hospitality. Thank you again Harun and all your staff for your hospitality. My husband and I enjoyed every single minute staying here.

The White House Hotel is a good place to be!

The first thing I have to say about the White House Hotel is the staff is very friendly and truly try their best to make sure you have a comfortable stay. From the manager to check-in staff, cleaning crew and everyone who works here make you feel welcomed and appreciative of your business. I had the great pleasure of receiving an upgrade due to my status with hotels.com. A room was t available right away, but true to their word as soon as one became available they notified me. This worked out great for me and my lady to have extra room. The location is perfect is you care about seeing the major sights like the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, Turkish baths, Bazaars, hop on hop off bus and plenty more. There is a corner store to get waters, tons of restaurants near by and overall great experience. I feel comfortable saying if you like what you see in the pictures, you won’t be disappointed with anything else. Another cool bonus is their rooftop terrace has an awesome view of the Hagia Sophia and a bit of the water. Thanks again to the staff for their positive energy during my first trip to Istanbul.

The quality and cleanliness of the property is immaculate. The staff is very welcoming, accommodating and helpful. I had to go on a one week trip to Paris and didn’t want to haul all my luggage and the hotel manager allowed me to leave my heavy bags at the hotel for 5 days until I returned - that was really nice, and not something you will experience at any other hotel in Istanbul. I have been to Istanbul 3 times before and stayed at luxurious corporate hotels, but the White House was my best experience. Location is excellent and within walking distance of many great attractions and transportation. The rooms are very comfortable and the view from the terrace is amazing. I will Definitely stay at the White House on my next Istanbul vacation and recommend this hotel highly.

This hotel is over quality! Everything has probably been said by previous reviewers, but we were blown away by warm hospitality and professionalism of staff. The chain hotels could learn some valuable lessons from them. They are totally focussed on providing the best service for their guests and nothing is too much trouble for them. The bed is firm and extremely comfortable - I felt as if I was sleeping on a cloud - I wish I could have taken it home with me. The room had everything we needed, The Turkish breakfast was a feast and different each morning. The breakfast hall which is on the terrace has breathtaking view. You get to see sunrise from behind of Haghia Sophia If you’re visiting Istanbul, I highly recommend you to book White House Hotel it will be your temporary home. I’ll definitely stay here again when I come back!

Cute, welcoming central hotel in old city Istanbul

I had a 29 hour layover in Istanbul and this hotel did not disappoint! Harun was a great source of recommendations and treats you like family. The staff was kind and helpful. The hotel itself was central to everything. I was able to walk most places. The shower had great water pressure and was up to date which was nice after a long journey. The rooftop has a beautiful view of the Ayasofya. Overall I highly recommend staying here! Harun and his staff are very welcoming and add an extra personal touch to your visit. From the juice and tea to the welcome dessert plate, it’s like staying with family, but without the drama! I will be staying there again.

Our stay at the White House Hotel Istanbul was phenomenal. Everything was amazing. The location was perfect; the rooms were very clean and very beautiful and super comfortable; the staff was the nicest hotel staff we've ever met. We were welcomed with welcome drinks and Turkish delight along with great information about the city; the staff celebrated my birthday the evening we arrived with a surprise cake and delicious strawberries. The breakfast was delicious, and the view from the rooftop was incredible. The staff really went above and beyond to make sure we enjoyed our stay -- from being super friendly to helping us book tours/taxis and giving us recommendations about the city. I really can't say enough about how much we loved this hotel. We will definitely be back!

Amazing customer service. Very friendly staff. Booked a triple room and check in after midnight. All beds single as expected. There was an issue with the water in the morning because of a leak but it was resolved quickly. Overall though, we felt really welcomed, reception was always helpful. We only stayed a night but cannot fault the service we received. Also very well located within walking distance of most of the top attractions.

White House Hospitality fit for a President

Our stay at the White House Hotel Istanbul was a 10 from the moment you walk in the door. You are greeted with fresh orange juice and a Turkish Delight and allowed to sit and rest before going up to your room. The check-in was simple and informal as you sipped your juice. The porter took our luggage upstairs and refused a tip. That evening upon returning we were offered apple tea on their rooftop terrace. The reception and porter staff were very very top notch friendly and courteous. They attended to our every need or request. On the last night, we were surprised with a bottle of wine in our room upon returning from dinner. We accidentally met the owner on the rooftop and he was very friendly. He left us a personal welcome letter on our first night along with a sanitizing kit for each of us. We would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Istanbul. It is ideally located in the Old Town near the mosques and palace. The room is small but cozy but wish that we had a bigger room. The staff are A+.

Highly Recommended Stay

Located in the middle of the old city just nearby to all attractions which can be reached by walking. The hotel is very cozy and the rooms style reflect the traditional lodging of Istanbul. The hotel staff are very friendly and welcoming, especially that we had an unexpected unique VIP greeting upon arrival from the Hotel Manager Harun. The buffet breakfast we had was more than a 5 star! with lots of varieties with a beautiful view of Hagia Sofia. Recommended for everyone looking to have a real life experience of Sultanahmet.

Warm, Over-the Top Service with Fantastic Location

This was one of the nicest experiences we have had as a couple traveling together for years. Harun was quite simply the best, most concerned hotel owner we have ever met. As well, he exemplifies the generosity of the Turkish people in general and made us feel, even though it is a cliche, at home. Excellent advice, a tea here a dessert there, just unbelievable. Such a pleasure staying at his lovely mansion hotel. Quiet, comfortable, kind and humble staff, and a location unmatched for the Blue Mosque Hagia Sofia area. Walking distance to everything. What an incredible city and wonderful hotel. Harun really did make our stay special. Special note to Harun: Please get some sleep! (he never stops working)

The staff in this hotel is very helpful and kind. The hotel is clean. The breakfast buffet is great and yummy. The terrace view is lovely. The location is excellent, only two streets away from Blue Mosque and Haga Sophia! The grand Bazaar is also so close by and the tram to get to more locations is not even one minute away. I felt very welcomed and taken care of in this hotel. I would definitely stay again if coming back to Istanbul!

I stayed here for 3 nights and the hospitality of this hotel is wonderful and the staff was very professional, helpful and more than eager and willing to acquiesce to my every request. Enchanting views with a selection of activities and walking distance to all the attractions. Top notch breakfast on the terrace with the beautiful view of Hagia Sophia. The place is spotless and the owner clearly focus on every detail. He gave me a gift of Turkish delights and Turkish tea which I really appreciate. I really don’t have words to describe their wonderful service. Highly recommended to everyone who wants to stay in most convenient and safe area!!

Small family owned hotel, very clean with suburb service. Even owner check on us

Harun and his staff have been absolutely amazing our entire 7-day stay at this beautiful property. Communication via email has been immediate and Harun even provided his cellular phone number in case we had issues while out. We arrived by taxi from the IST airport (~150 Lira) with no issues, having written the address down to hand to the driver. The location is perfect and a majority of the sights are walkable or you can easily take the T1 tram. The hotel takes Covid concerns very seriously and our temperature was checked upon arrival, and there are hand sanitizer stations everywhere. The room is good sized by American standards and housekeeping has been amazing, the room was always clean. The breakfast buffet (which you now use gloves to serve yourself) has been magnificent and changes every day, with an assortment of cheeses, fruits, breads, and hot items. There is also 24/7 espresso and tea served on the beautiful rooftop terrace. I absolutely recommend this hotel and wouldn't stay anywhere else if I return to Istanbul again.

Cozy Hotel in Historic Istanbul

Thoughts after my 13 night stay: 1. Location - 5/5. Right in Fatih, this hotel is within walking distance to all of the popular cultural sites in the old city. 2. Service - 5/5. Hotel staff were extremely nice and helpful. 3. Breakfast - 4.5/5. Tasty with some daily variety. The rooftop view of Hagia Sophia is amazing. 4. Room - 4/5. The standard room is on the smaller side, but was fine for a couple. 5. Cleanliness - 5/5. Room always felt cozy. 6. Safety - 5/5. It felt very safe here, I never felt like I needed to lock up my belongings. Overall, my experience at this hotel was excellent. The friendly staff are the hotel's finest attribute. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking to visit Istanbul for the first time or as a romantic getaway.
