Very nice clean comfortable place to stay.

It was a great location. Close to the ferry. And clean hotel.

Our king room was spacious and very clean and comfortable. A hook in the bathroom might be nice to hang a robe or wet towel.

Location was perfect. Room cost fit our budget but was still very nice.

We spent two nights here. It was a wonderful stay. Walking distance to the Ferry to Mackinac Island. Our room was very clean, comfortable beds, clean bathroom and nice hot shower. Highly recommend and would stay again if we get back up there again.

Owner was so helpful and friendly. Made our short stay very nice.

Rooms are not cramped. There is a coffee pot, microwave and fridge. Right off the main street through town. A small hotel that isn't crammed full of people.

A friendly welcome by staff upon arrival to the older, one floor motel style accommodation that has been remodeled throughout. Room was very clean, spacious and comfortable. Hsk daily, unless requested otherwise. Reasonably priced and convenient to the Ferry Dock for trips to Mackinac Island. Will definitely stay again!

We had such a great visit and will be coming back. Having never been to St Ignace, we read reviews of this motel and went for it. We had a friendly, informative check in, a super clean room and were pleasantly surprised with the chairs that let us relax after a long day of driving on the main road. The property was kept up and I wish we lived closer to return on a regular basis. Thank you, we had a wonderful stay!

This is an old-school motel that we always stay at when in St. Ignace. Don't let the outside looks fool you. Even though it looks outdated, the rooms are very spacious, clean, and comfortable.

Very quiet, clean and comfortable. Could have used a towel rack in the bathroom - no place to hang our hand towel. The location was perfect to catch the ferry to Mackinac Island. (The asthetics regarding the grass around the building needed to be taken care of.) Other than that, we'd stay again.

Very nice Motel very close to the Mackinac Ferries. You could walk from the Motel to the Ferries without too much trouble. Room was clean and check on was easy and friendly.

This motel was exceptionally comfortable and spotlessly clean. Although I had driven past it numerous times, I had not given it much attention. However, I was pleasantly surprised when I needed a last-minute booking. I would highly recommend this motel, especially considering the cost savings associated with booking here.

Love the retro vibe!

The Wayside Motel is a great place if you remember the motels of the 60's and 70's. The place is so clean. Another retro thing is the fact that housekeeping visits daily, which is exceedingly rare in today's hotel/motel market. This is my second stay here, and I don't think it'll be my last!

Very Nice Motel

This is a comfortable motel. It is on the main road into St. Ignace and close to restaurants. It is also within walking distance to the ferry boats to Mackinac Island. The rooms are spacious and clean. The rooms also have internet and cable television. I would definitely stay here again.

The room was clean. The bed was comfy. The service was friendly. The only issue was there was a constant sound coming from the heater that kept us awake most of the night. We didn’t complain, just figuring it’s because of how old the place is. Not too bad of a musty smell…had the windows open to air it out for couple hours before sleeping. Seemed to help.

Definitely Will Stay Here Again

I booked this motel due to the many positive reviews I read. Reviews are accurate!!!! Management was very friendly and recommendations that we asked for were right on!!! Check-In was expeditious. Cleanliness of rooms was immaculate!!! Refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, small kitchen table with chairs....everything we could have wanted, clean and in great working condition. Bed was very comfortable. Thank You for a lovely stay :)

The property manager was excellent!! I was ill prepared and didn't reserve enough night for my trip. I just called up the front desk and added on another night. It was super easy! Plus, the manager noticed I was looking at the ferry schedule for Mackinaw Island, so he offered cheaper ferry tickets and shuttle service that picks up right in the hotel parking lot! I was traveling with my 2 kids and their bedtime is earlier than mine but if I keep a light on they won't fall asleep. Well, this property has 2 seats outside the room door with a light. This was absolutely perfect for me to sit outside the room and read my book until I became tired. The only thing I consider being a negative was that the vending machine was out of order at the time. Yes, the office did have the drinks that would have been supplied by the vending machine, so it wasn't that bad.

Pleasant Stay

This was a older hotel but I knew that when I booked it. Everything was great. The hotel staff was friendly and it was very clean. It was convenient to check in and they also offered discount ferry ticket. We will be booking with Wayside again.

The room was very clean. Had all the basics except for an ironing board. Staff was friendly and helpful at check in. Slight odor in room, but everything was kept very clean.

The room we stayed in was very minimal but very clean and clean smelling. The negative things I noticed was the ceiling fan in the bathroom did not work well and the front doors all need to be painted. Other than some exterior work that needs to be done it was a great stay. The owner is working on remodel.

Cozy, cared for, small business

Excellent service. New towels and all new bedding for the second night. Totally cleaned room for our second night with them. Such a pleasurable experience for a small hotel. Doing everything right and very reasonable stay. Helpful with suggestions for eating and the ferry. Definitely will be our go to place in St. Ignace.

I am very impressed with the cleanliness of the room & friendliness of the gentleman who checked me in. As a lifetime Hilton Diamond member, this property doesn’t have all the amenities, but it is as clean or cleaner then most properties I’ve stayed in recently. Thank you for a nice stay!

We were looking for a place to stay for 2 nights that could accommodate a family of 4 in the St. Ignace area for under $500. We only wanted limited amenties- A TV, fridge, microwave, shower, linens (didn't need a fitness room, free breakfast, etc). This cute little motel was able to offer that. It was very quiet and appeared to be family owned. Given that the other lodging in this area was asking $500/NIGHT, this place fit the bill. The staff was very friendly. The only critique I have to offer was that parking was pretty tight, there was someone parked in front of our room. It is a premium location just a short walk from a non-swimming beach and also discount tickets to the Macinaw ferry.

Not a fancy motel, but we had a wonderful stay! Great beds and pillows, CLEAN, cleaned and refilled daily, fridge and microwave, coffee and tea everything we needed. Front desk was so kind and answered questions and recommended anything I asked. Will certainly stay there again if we get back in the area. Great experience.

The room was spacious and fit our families needs. I really liked the bathroom, it didn’t feel/look like a hotel bathroom, but one you would see in a home. The only thing I would suggest would be to put up some towel bars and hooks. The staff was really helpful. He was patient with all my questions and informative.

Old-fashioned drive-up motel room, clean and very well maintained with excellent shower (no tub) and good Internet service, with chairs to sit outside. I would normally consider it pricey for what I paid for such a room, but as it is in a tourist town and I booked it only few weeks in advance during a weekend in high season (July), I guess that is to be expected.

Property was well situated , convenient to the ferries and to the downtown area. Room was plain but very clean and met our needs perfectly.

A Fair Place for the Fair Money

A good place to stay in St. Ignace, not pretentious but safe and reliable. The location is great; the downtown is within walking distance. The room was spotless, although some amenities prevented me from giving the 5-star rating. There's no exhausting fan in the bathroom, probably due to the building's age, only a small vent window. And the bathroom can't be locked from the inside. The TV is too small for the distance from the viewer's eyes, but who needs a TV in St. Ignace? There's so much enjoyment around. The checkout experience was good; I was welcomed by a gentleman who was happy to answer my questions about the area and offered some suggestions. Bottom line: if you don't plan to work remotely (there's not the best Wi-Fi) and need a good place to sleep, go for it.

Stayed here on our way home from Wisconsin. St. Ignace is a nice town. Lots of guests outside smoking was the only drawback couldn’t open up our window due to that. We would stay there again.

This place is a gem! Old style motel and incredibly clean. Definitely would recommend this to others traveling in the area!
