Fab staff make this hotel shine bright
Such a lovely warm welcome on arrival. Yasmin was the star for us...very friendly & went the extra mile to be kind & locate me a safety pin for a dress malfunction. Made an effort to acknowledge us each time we passed reception. Bar staff fast, efficient & attentive & 2 did the work of 5. Food lovely & recommend dinner & breakfast there.
I booked this hotel, as my son had a competition the next morning. We were kept awake until the early morning as there was a party on with load music. the soundproofing is terrible. When I tried to ring reception, the phone was not answered. Yet when I rang, the line was answered.
The staff at the front desk were so kind and helpful, especially Stephanie. She suggested a place to stop off on our way back to Dublin (The Ulster American Folk Park well worth the stop) and even went out of her way to mail a post card for us! (thank you!) The only drawback was no air conditioning in the rooms. Thankfully it was a cool night.
Had a great stay in the Waterfoot hotel, reception staff were very helpful and the bar staff in The Snug were brilliant! So very helpful and great craic! It really felt like a wee local pub! Thank you Marty!
very friendly
Clean, comfortable and convenient.
Beautiful hotel, very busy during my stay, which is a good sign. Unfortunately the noise from revellers leaving the function room below my window was very loud between 23.00 and 02.00. This impacted sleep considerably. It must be stated that it was a Friday night so what can I expect. While my room was beautiful, there was an odour from what seamed like stagnant water, not from the bathroom, turning the fan on released the issue.
It was just an overnight stay that was convenient to the airport where we had to pick up a hire car. The room was clean and nice and the staff very friendly and helpful
Good hotel outside Derry
The hotel was good but a little out of the centre of Derry and had a playlist throughout the communal areas of the hotel that seemed to range from heavy metal to 1990’s. Rooms ok and overall good breakfast. It’s very much a wedding hotel so if you staying a weekend be prepared !
clean, welcoming staff
nice place!
Very nice hotel l, staff very helpful and attentive. Martin in the snug bar particularly helpful and very customer focused.
Fantastic Stay
We had a wonderful stay. The hotel is clean, modern and tastefully decorated. The standout factor though is the absolutely fantastic staff - every single member was friendly, helpful and accommodating. A special mention needs to go to Stephanie on reception and the barman in The Snug. Breakfast was good.
Budget friendly. Room was pretty warm for our liking. Bed was comfy but a little soft though. Great staff and breakfast
The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, especially David in the dining room and Marty in the snug. The only issues were that one room we had did have some mould on the ceiling and that the roundabout the hotel is situated on is terrible to get onto. The roundabout could really be doing with traffic lights although this is out of the hotels control. Great food and the rooms are a great size for 2.
Nice food, the “snug bar” was great. Exceptional barman Kevin was very friendly and great to chat too - needs a pay rise!
We got welcomed by the lovely Kristen at reception, and was also given Prosecco on arrival!
It was a pleasant stay, there could be more options for breakfast. The room was alright but the television was not working alright at all times. Overall it was a good stay.
Staff was incredibly friendly and helpful.
Don't book if there is a function on, the staff are great but the other guests are noisy and it travels. Especially if there is a wedding, we got no sleep due to noise issues. Would not recommend, they did refund one nights stay because of the noise but it was awful to experience as we were travelling early next day.
Super friendly staff and great family room. Easy parking and good quality breakfast. Would stay again. Receptionist was easily friendly. Good price.
Great Stay
Great value and comfort for the price.
Spacious rooms and very clean All staff were super friendly and efficient especially at breakfast and in the snug bar Breakfast was great and location was perfect
Needs attention
Hotel is a little down bar is very expensive
Great place to stay, staff really helpful, nice rooms great location
Great stay, amazing rooms. Special thanks to Max and Martin whose levels of care and service were exceptional
Weekend stay
We love the Waterfoot Hotel, if your looking for a relaxing place to stay, good food, and a nice walk over the Peace bridge or a drink at the pub. This is the place for you, we had dinner and breakfast with family there. They may consider putting in a place to workout but walks are fine with me.
Staff very friendly
Go a little further in round about.
Hotel is just off small street on round about. Dont take main street but go to small off ramp. Hotel is a little tired. Single beds are small.
Brilliant friendly service, lovely food with great menu with lots of choice and decent rooms. Would definitely stay again.
Great Hotel
Hotel recently refurbished to a very good standard, food great and very friendly staff
This hotel was very pleasant in general. The room was very comfortable. The staff were very helpful indeed. Breakfast was excellent and restaurant staff pleasant and helpful. I would certainly go back.
Nice staff
Free parking Nice place Near with round about Access to all routes
Small beds
The hotel was lovely and the staff were very friendly and accommodating however the beds were quite uncomfortable and small. My boyfriend is 6’2 and I’m 5’7 and both are feets hung off the end of the bed. It was more a queen size rather than a double
Happy to return
We found the staff friendly and helpful, the room was clean and comfortable and enjoyed breakfast and evening meals. We would certainly like to stay again in the future.
Lovely helpful staff, Patrick in the snug bar was particularly helpful and friendly and Max on breakfast service was also very nice
Excellent staff and service, room was quiet and comfortable
Nice, comfortable hotel
View wasn’t great but the room was fine. No bath but the shower was big enough. Everything was clean and the room was really warm. Had to turn the heat down a bit but that’s not a bad thing. Food was really nice and the staff are friendly without being in your face. All very good.
Very good 👍 and clean 🙂
We could not get to sleep to after 3.00am party going on.

Lovely warm welcome, comfortable stay - will return!
Nice and relaxing break the food was lovely and the staff were lovely.
Hotel was too far out of Derry, couldnt get a taxi at 04.30 pm on saturday.Hotel should set up some sort of contract with taxxi company. couldnt get asleep as doors next door was constantly slaming shut as there was a party. single beds far too narrow.
Waterfoot Hotel
Fantastic over nite stay very friendly staff will definitely be staying again
Big parking, good restaurant. Out of city.
A great hotel with very friendly staff. We really enjoyed our stay.
This place is amazing
Absolutely amazing stay the staff are fantastic go above and beyond for you. From check in to check out they were just great. The restaurant is beautiful with outstanding food and the snug for a drink before bed !!!
Nice and pleasant stay
Stayed for one night over Halloween. Hotel was nice and clean, decor was very nice. The staff were extremely welcoming, helpful and friendly. We really enjoyed our stay. Only complaint was the room was very warm but with it being the winter that's better than it being too cold. We really enjoyed our stay.
Not great for the price. Too hot, and no way to cool down rooms. Opening windows was not effective. Reception staff were not overly helpful or welcoming but seemed overworked.
Great staff and a good hotel.
The hotel was fine, in a great location for me. The receptionist was very helpful, as were all the staff. The food in the restaurant was good, and great service. Breakfast was self service and ok, nothing special though.
The tv was not working and was no signal
Never again
Loud music, people roaring and shouting on the hallway most of the night, the mattress was very sore on our backs, booked out restaurant, bar was a grab and hold which I think was a joke for people who had book to stay in the hotel 3 attempts it took before we got a table. One bar man doing 4 different jobs with no help at all.
Very nice stay overall, even with Covid restrictions. One down side. Don't turn up to check in at 2. Its 3.
Nice hotel in good location
Cant fault the room at all. Just what you would expect from a 4 star hotel. The room I was given didnt have much of a view but I was there for work so not an issue. Bit noisy in the corridors but settled down and didnt disrupt sleep. The cost for the double room was only a few £'s more than the budget hotels in the area so no brainer. Had dinner in the hotel and the food was good and the staff were great. Would recommend.
waterfoot
Had a really good couple of days staff were so good to deal with especially young Megan at reception who was an amazing help when i arrived would recommend without hesitation
Good stay overall
It was a lovely clean hotel. We booked a family room for myself, my partner and 10 month old. The family room we received didnt have a bath which i found very stange for a family room. Room had a mini fridge which was ideal for babys bottles. We went to the restaurant for dinner on one evening there was no room for us which wasnt a problem but the man who greeted us qas t very friendly at all told us to go to the bar i may get a seat in there better. He didnt direct us to where the bar was. We then heard him giving out about having to take more customers to another member of staff. We juat found it very unprofessional and very uninviting. Other than these minor problems we enjoyed our stay.
Friendly staff
Hotel very clean, food great and staff friendly and helpfull nothing was a bother. Would return in a heartbeat
Good value for money.
Located a bit out from town center, therefore very quiet. Food very good, didn't avail of breakfast option. Pleasant bar man, overworked at times could use some help.
Spotlessly clean room and bathroom, felt very comfortable. Friendly staff. Enjoyable stay.
The procedures the Waterfoot Hotel have in place to deal with Covid are excellent. I felt very safe in this hotel and the staff are so helpful and friendly
Lovely pleasant staff, great food highly recommended
Friendly efficient service. Excellent food. This was my tenth visit!
Function on late with loud music, waited 50 mins for food, fire alarm went off at 7.30am and then again after 10am. Made a complaint and was told manager would call me the following day but I have received no phone call. Shocking!!
Great property, will be back again. Service was wonderful
Great hotel
Wonderful hotel. Very quiet and serene.
Once a month I need to go to Londonderry and I found this lovely hotel to stay. What I most like is the restaurant that always surprise me in each meal. Fabulous food!
Miss Guiding Light
Rooms were standard but comfortable. We were there all day attending an event in the function room. Unfortunately there is no access to the function room through the hotel and it is not an “easy” walk for anyone with walking difficulties and as it was raining it was even more difficult as it was a little slippery!
Good Service, Neat and Reliable
Great service. Check in was easy. The hostess made cab reservations for us for an early pickup the following morning and interviewed cabs to assure reliability. We were leaving early for the Open Championship and the hotel left coffee and tea out before breakfast to accommodate the golf fans.
No consideration for business guests
Rooms are small for the level of of assigned class. I was lecturing the following day and we were put in a room beside the wedding function suite with a huge amount of noise. We had to have the window open as there is no individual room airconditioning apart form a small fan. there was mold on the ceiling in the room and a heavy mold smell. There were also water marks in the bathroom on the ceiling. I will not be staying here again under any circumstances and it certainly is not business traveller friendly with the main emphasis put on the higher income wedding parties. Not worth the money, stress or lack of sleep. I would like a refund but I really dont know if I can be bothered going through the entire hassle which no doubt would ensue.
Mixed feelings.
We constantly heard doors closing. We visited the restaurant both for dinner and breakfast. We weren't impressed. The people were nice though and the room was clean and comfortable.
The staff in the waterfoot hotel were excellent really friendly and helpful
Very good Hotel
The staff were lovely and very helpful.
Everything perfect but would like to be able to control my own heat in the room
Nice Hotel
Overall Hotel was very good. Could not fault it. The Snug Bar is very cosy and homely with a nice fire. Will stay again
Great Hotel
Great hotel and fantastic staff. Only down fall was too far out of the town to walk in and the bed. We were just very unfortunate to get a creaky bed that kept wakening us all night.
Found hotel to be very clean and tidy and comfortable.. Staff were very friendly. Would stay here again
Very Good
Very Good
Clean and comfortable hotel. Nice staff, good location. Good breakfast.
Entry not handicap accessible; have to enter through restaurant. Front desk staff friendly and helpful. Servers in restaurant not so friendly. No easy way to get luggage up to reception without going through the restaurant.
Clean but basic.
Easy to find, almost a "back packer" feel. No airconditioning in the middle of a heatwave, rooms were adequate. The scary thing for me was as we were leaving to check out, almost every fire control door was wedged open, on mentioning this to reception i was told it was to facilitate cleaning! Not a good thing in the event of a fire.
Great staff
Firstly, we as a family had an issue with some noise in the hotel due to an event. We were also unaware of the renovation works until arrival. However in saying this I must balance it with the outstanding work of the team at the hotel. They were all lovely even when I was a little irate over an issue. They endeavored to resolve it and I was laughing in the end with the senior team Amanda and Denise. It is true that people in this hotel are very very good and they will at all costs attempt to ensure you are happy. I was overwhelmed and very happy leaving.
Modern hotel, good road access, free parking
Warm friendly staff who were eager to please. Nothing too much trouble. Food excellent, well presented both in the restaurant and at a wedding reception. Hotel recently under new management with some refurbishments in progress. Even the tradesmen were friendly and keen to avoid disruption and noise.
Waterfoot wedding.
Situated in a residential area in outer L/Derry, this hotel is in a quiet location with ample free parking for visitors. The staff are warm and welcoming, keen to help and serve. The hotel itself is undergoing modernisation, and will look very good when all the work is completed. The rooms are big and comfortable, with plenty of storage space. Free Wifi but connection isn't always strong. The bathroom was modern - recently refurbished - and perfectly functional. Dining is moderately priced and portions are generous. The waiting staff are very good (5 stars for Grainne McCloskey). The wedding reception area was well laid out, with a foyer and large bar leading into a big reception hall easily accommodating +100 diners). Again service was very good bar-side and reception hall, and meals of generous proportions (plus a choice). Great venue for a big occasion.
Ok but not great
The hotel was ok, You have to drag your bags up several flights of stairs to get to registration, The hotel looks quite worn from the outside. Staff was very friendly and the room was clean and comfortable.
Good hotel; good breakfast; good room. In June 2018, hotel is having a renovation of rooms - we were not bothered by the construction work. Hope they upgrade the WiFi - very weak in our room. We had supper in the dining room - very good and reasonable too.
Ok for a 1 night stay
We stayed here one night during our Ireland round trip. We had to change rooms because there was a heating issue. The second room was more spacious but in poor condition. Currently rooms are going under renovation but it would have been nice to be informed about the works. They started to work before 7am, so it was quite loud in the morning. Furthermore, there is a lot of traffic noise around. We needed to use earplugs. Staff was friendly but they gave the impression to be a kind of reserved. All in all - it is ok for 1 night.
Love this hotel been there a few times always had
Love this hotel will be back again great staff and beautiful food
Good hotel close to hospital
I had a positive experience, good food, staff were helpful and pleasant.
Staff made the visit.
Second time staying there, staff where very friendly and helpful . Nice hotel if your looking something quite and relaxing, rooms are everything you expect from a 3 star, breakfast was a little bit of a let down a bit all over the place nothing that couldn't be fixed with a little effort. Will visit again but in NO rush.
Nice hotel, comfy bed, clean bathroom but could do with update. Only real negative was that it was Noisy til 1.20am - heard every song and word from Dj and her microphone.
Never ever stay at this place..
The noise was so loud the walls were pounding, The hotel hosted a party and the DJ and music played until after 1:00am, when I contacted the front desk I was told that it would stop at 1:15. I don;t understand why they offer rooms for rest and keep people up all night. When I brought it up to Wendy at the front desk she said well we called and left a message that we were hosting a wedding tonight( what the heck)she was rude and said she would pass it along to the manager.
Food in the Snug bar was lovely. The room was warm and bed comfy. Breakfast was a bit slow as only one waiter on duty. Reception staff all very friendly and helpful.
Myself and friends had a lovely stay in the Waterfoot hotel we would go back again .
good hotel
good hotel to stay at staff all friendly, nice sized room and good food in restaurant.
Hotel has a modern decor feeling.
This hotel was very comfortable for our one night stay. Beds were good and dinner and breakfast was good. Plenty of parking. Staff was friendly, food was good. Prices reasonable. Would stay there again.
Visit down memory lane
We were a bit concerned when parking that the place looked neglected. However our room, the facilities and the staff were all one could wish for.
disappointed
I booked it as it was close to hospital as wife was in labour so I could go to her side fast,I booked in at 10.45 and was charged full price and I ordered a sandwich they brought it to the room ,it wasn't what I ordered but that tired and hungry I ate it ,slept on a single bed if u moved u could have fell out ,no switchs beside bed to charge phone so had keep getting up to check ,left hotel in morning at 6.25 without breakfast as it didn't start until 7 forgot to pay for sandwich which was £3.95 got a phone call later from the hotel looking payment I said I would call in and pay it later but they demanded payment there and then ,it annoyed my wife more than me I never normally be annoyed ,my wife and I had a beautiful set of twin girls and glad I stayed near hand but never again
Good base for seeing Londonderry
Good value hotel. Rooms large, slightly old fashioned. Restaurant was very good.
Waterfoot Hotel weekend
Reception check in, housekeeping was very good. Staff in restaurant & Bar were super good. Breakfast & other meals were delicious. We had an excellent stay. Also lady at reception gave us directions to a pathway alongside the Foyle which took us into the City, there is a bus service which stops just before Caw roundabout if you don't fancy the walk back.Hotel is a hidden gem. There is a busy roundabout just before access to the Hotel but the pathway into the city is really pleasant & gives a good walk. There is good access for cars over the Foyle bridge to the City, Letterkenny erc.
