Bad place. Rude staff.
This place has a beautiful view of Sorrento, but it is not easy to get to. It’s a six minute drive from town, and cars cannot go to all the way up to the hotel. The hotel staff will drive you in a very small van up and down, but you have to give them at least 30 minutes and possibly be prepared to wait an hour.
Overall wonderful spot to stay in Sorrento. They’ve got a scheduled shuttle service to and from the city center, which is very convenient and timely. The staff were incredibly kind, doing their best to help us find the destination after my husband got lost (our fault—not theirs!). They have cooking classes (we didn’t participate but everything smelled delicious!) as well as on property breakfast, lunch, and dinner options. Villa Pane has gorgeous views, comfortable amenities, and was the most delightful introduction to Sorrento. We hope to return some day!
AnnaMarie and Luigi were wonderful They care about you and they and their staff will help in any way they can. They run a shuttle to Piazza Tazzo around every hour. It’s the best of both worlds, quiet and restful, but close enough to the action. We really enjoyed the whole experience. Grazie Mille Villa Pane!
Nice family run Villa in Sorrento
Very nice, family run Villa. Team takes personal care of your requirements and makes you comfortable. Home style breakfast and other meals available. Close to Sorrento city and ferry pier. However due to narrow path need to depend on Villa team to collect you from either Sorrento square or bottom of hill. From Sorrento ferry pier we did day excursions to capri and positano.
WARNINGS YOU MUST KNOW IN ADVANCE: This hotel does not have a swimming pool as indicated. It charges $80 for the 4th person, despite booking on Expedia the inclusion of the 4th person, it is high up on the mountain where only motorcycles or custom cars can fit - you must park down the hill and they will retrieve you (we smashed two rear-view mirrors on car rental tryin to fit up the 8-foot wide narrow road), and most importantly, check in ends at 8pm - not 10pm as listed. We were not very welcomed for this misprint.
Nice place but not all that accessible
The villa is in a lovely location great views from terrace, food is amazing as owner is a chef, some rooms have good views of Naples Bay. Ours mimosa though only had a tiny window looking out onto a roof so no view. The rural location is up a hill on busy road with no sidewalk so although is only 20 min walk from sorrento it's not a safe or easy walk especially for families. The shuttle is good but only runs until 10.30 if want to stay out later a taxi is 25 euros for a very short trip. The hotel also is advertised with a pool on hotels.Com which is misleading as that has now gone an they only have a hot tub. The beds also were not super comfy but we're adequate, the building itself is lovely a quaint old victoriana guest house on a hill top views right in nature. Staff were friendly but not go out of their way above an beyond helpful unlike the place we stayed just before this one in amalfi. I'm not sure I would stay again unless it was cheap and I had a car to get to it.
We really enjoyed our stay at Villa Pane, although unfortunately during our stay there we didn't get chance to experience the on site cooking due to personal issues with the hosts. This was a shame as we had heard good things about it. The shuttle bus and other services were really good and the host was very friendly and tried to help where possible. Lovely view and room. The hotel is a bit tricky to find but once there it is beautiful. We couldn't find the swimming pool as it appeared to be under construction which was disappointing too but lots to do in Sorrento and surrounding islands.
Good
It is a lovely place but difficult to find, although it has a lot of “hidden amenities” (such as a free shuttle service, cooking classes, restaurant) there are also a lot of things that aren’t on par. Some things need to be upgraded, and there are small details such as the fact that they don’t replace the tea, little milk containers and soap in your rooms, or the mugs etc that are chipped. Getting to and from the guest house outside of the allocated shuttle hours can also be an issue. On the positive side, the food at the restaurant (although it really is expensive) is excellent and the views from the villa are lovely!
As usual this place is Fantastic I would recommend to anyone and done mis Ana Maria’s cooking
Hotel location is very difficult to locate. This hotel does not register on google maps. Google maps takes you to a complete different location. Very frustrating, we finally stopped at a business to ask for directions and the shop owner said you will never find it. He was so kind to take us to the hotel parking lot. Then you must call the hotel and they come get you because the road is to narrow for most cars. This should have been stared in the hotel advertising. We complained to the hotel regarding google maps and the are aware of this but have not solved the problem with google. When you want to leave the hotel to go into the city you must take a hotel shuttle to the city or if you have a car to there parking lot. The shuttle does not run every hour and the last pick up is 10:30pm so no nightlife or late dinners. Be aware the hotel states in their advertising that the city is just a 15 minute walk. This is absolutely not true and I assure you in you walk from the city to the hotel( all up hill) would take a healthy person well over one hour. Now for the positive, the staff is wonderful, the view and the rooms were great.
Beautiful location, incredibly helpful hosts and the food was amazing!
Great
Was the best vacations wonderful hotel.
We ended up in this hotel after our original reservation cancelled on us at the last minute so Expedia came in to save the day and booked us here literally within minutes of finding out that we did not have a place to stay at 7 pm after a 7 hrs drive. So it was not our choice but it did the trick. It is very difficult to find, if you drive DO NOT follow your GPS and DO NOT attempt to drive your car up the narrow road. Get in touch with the people in the hotel and follow their directions and if possible meet with them in town (Sorrento) and let them guide you the first time. However, once you get there the place is fine. It is run by a family who seems to do everything, from cooking, to cleaning, to running the whole place. They really try their best and work very hard. It was not what we were looking for but if you are looking for a remote place to get away and not bothering going out much during your stay in the Amalfi Coast then this is your oasis.
A great holiday experience with personal touch.
If you like to be treated as an individual this is the place for you! We left feeling like we had been staying with family, rather than guest at a hotel. To be honest at first we were a little worried when the transfer company we had chosen had difficulty finding the property. It is up in the hills along narrow streets. However, once we arrived, we had such a warm welcome and that along with the fabulous view over the Bay of Naples from our room banished these initial concerns. The owners were so friendly and welcoming. A complimentary shuttle back down to Sorrento meant that we were able to make the most of the tranquillity of the accommodation without missing out on the hustle and bustle of the town. The buffet breakfast was excellent and the evening meal was delicious homely cooking.
Beautiful relaxing place
If you dream of Italy, olive groves, lemon trees and beautiful water view, then this is your place. Choose a sea view room and you will get a lovely view of the bay of Naples. The hotel was quaint and lovely. The staff are very friendly and make you feel like you are at home. As noted by others, this hotel is slightly out of town.(maybe 2 miles?) They have a scheduled shuttle that will take you to town and back maybe 7 times a day. It really wasn't a problem. We did our day trips which ended with being back in town, ate dinner, and then the shuttle would come get us. Sorrento is beautiful and comes alive at night. A must see.
We loved our stay at Villa Pane. The room was great, with a lovely balcony and amazing views. The location is beautiful and very peaceful compared to the busy town of Sorrento. Breakfast was lovely, with a really good selection of fresh food.
Lovely, Charming and so Sorrento
We had 3 great nights at Villa Pane. The hosts couldn't be more helpful and welcoming. Villa Pane is set in the quiet and beautiful hills only just outside of the centre of Sorrento but the shuttle bus schedule makes for a very convenient access to and from the centre. They also grow some of their own produce and make their own jams. We were gutted not to make their cooking class as well. Our room was nice and our private verander was huge with great views! I would highly recommend. Great value for money too and we would definitely go back.
Nice hotel
Very accommodating hotel, they try hard to please, loved that they had a shuttle to town since it wasn't within walking distance, good daily breakfast
Very disappointing from the room to the food, had booked hotel on the way back from our 4day stay in tropea but even though we had paid for the room my husband and myself chose not to go back and paid and stayed somewhere else.
1st visit to Italy
Villa is appx 10 mins out of the main square and 20 to 30 euros in a taxi, depending if you are in the square or port. Hotel does do a shuttle service which works well but quite restricting. Very peaceful and beautiful views across the bay. Added bonus is that Maria makes some of the best Pizza we ate whilst in Sorrento.
Nice property, helpful staff, MILES AWAY
First challenge was actually finding the hotel on arrival. Google can't locate it, and it is a €25 cab ride up the mountain to a square where you then have to call a number on a signpost to get a shuttle from the hotel as roads are too narrow for taxis. The place itself is nice and the staff are very welcoming - but it is not a full on resort and you wouldn't spend all day there which means you are reliant on the hourly shuttle (booked in advance and not running from 1pm - 4pm) to get you there, and provisionally back. Of course we wanted to go when the mood took us, and had no idea what time we would be coming back so booking the return journey was impossible. It also felt like getting shuttled back and forth was an inconvenience for the hotel owners (which of course it was!) If you are a bit more laid back about coming and going, the property is nice but nothing is mentioned of this on the site or the booking confirmation. We ended up paying for another hotel down by the port for the latter part of our stay. This is where the bulk of the accommodation is. If we went back to Sorrento, we wouldn't consider staying away from the main strip of hotels regardless of the price difference
Wonderful week and celebration
Anna Marie, Gianluigi and the team were fabulous hosts. The property is spotlessly clean and well maintained. The family work long hours to ensure the comfort of their guests and are friendly and helpful. The property is quirky and has personality. The view from the top terrace is outstanding. The last section of single track road to the property is as described in other reviews and certainly a bit hair raising, but the family manage the shuttle transport safely and well. I contacted Gianluigi prior to our visit as we were celebrating our anniversary and he helped me to arrange an extremely special meal on the terrace and Sorrento even provided fireworks over the bay (probably not for us, but perfectly timed and a beautiful highlight to our evening). I should also mention the quality of Anna Marie's menus. The food was simply splendid and great value for money. The property is around 10 minutes by car from the centre of town, this was one of my reasons for choosing Villa Pane as the centre of Sorrento can be very hectic. It was nice to balance the tranquillity of Villa Pane with the vibrancy and bustle in town. All in all a superb holiday, I can't recommend Villa Pane highly enough.
Room with a view
Had a great stay at villa pane friendly owners, great room with sea views bit tight to get car up too hotel but once there you don't need to use it if not needed they provide a shuttle service to the town!!!
Far from all, your mobility depends on the hotel shuttle offered free at every hour, impossible to get to the hotel with your car.Beautifull view from the hotel location.Clean rooms, polite personnel.Breakfast need improvement
Beautiful sea view
All in all a lovely stay. Room was excellent with a fantastic view of sunset over the sea. The walk up the hill will definitely burn off all the cheese you ate at dinner but its preferable to driving if you've hired anything wider than a vintage fiat 500. Breakfast was a mixed bag with lovely homemade preserves, just avoid the "orzo" coffee (although apparently popular, as its available in all the shops, it is truly offensive)
Fantastic b&b close to historic Sorrento. Shuttle service to and from town makes getting around easy. If you drive, like we did, don't forget to look for the sign for parking at the bottom of the road.
Lovely B&B, lovely stay, lovely proprietors!
Although they were not yet open for the season, they went out of their way to accommodate us and provide us with a lovely room and very warm hospitality ... and they personally drove us in our rental car through the very narrow streets for a safe arrival and departure. Just wonderful!
Luigi and his mom run this B&B. They provide great service. They work very hard to take care of everything on the property. Overall a great stay if you want to stay in a place that is out of the way and quiet. However, it is difficult to get to. There is a shuttle 5-6 times a day, but it may cause inconvenience as you may have to wait over an hour if you miss one.
A room with a view
4 fantastic days
Great family Run hotel. All the home comforts. The pool area is nice and is good if you want some where to chill out for a few hours.
Brilliant Villa Pane
An amazing visit to an amazing place - perfect views and a little out of the way of Sorrento so very quiet. Incredible food and very kind and friendly staff.
We will be back
Lovely stay. If you're looking for something within walking distance to the center of Sorrento, this isn't it. BUT if you're looking for an authentic Italian experience, this place is terrific. Grounds are lovely. Luigi and his mother Anna Marie are wonderful hosts. Anna Marie's cooking is to die for. Luigi was more than accommodating. The views are stunning. We will return.
A mixed bag
A real mixed bag. Nice people beautiful setting good free breakfast BUT very difficult to reach town. The 2km route has no shoulder, the hotel shuttle runs only every several hours, and the town taxis charge 30 Euros for the eight minute ride.
Only for those with small cars
Sat Nav will take you to the correct place but at the time it's hard to believe. Very steep, twisting but narrow, even for a Panda, last half km to the hotel. Shuttles run down to the town. So thankfully you only experience the access road behind the wheel twice. Once at the hotel it's good. Quality rooms and clean and tidy.
wonderful
Anna Maria and her son Luigi are absolutely a delight, they go out of their way to make you feel at home. the atmosphere and amazing dishes make this a must stop on next holiday
Nice view and nice room but do not recommend
Host is very nice, room very clean, beautiful view over looking the bay. Building and rooms have Sorrento charm in decor. With that said, I would never recommend this place if you are driving, and without a car it is also hard to access. Only compact cars can access this place easily. Resort is located on a road that is two directional but a car can barely squeeze through one way. There is a park and ride but we did not feel safe leaving our car there. We were very disappointed with the breakfast.
Secluded getaway
Villa Pane is a lovely family run small hotel. Maria and Gianluigi are very friendly and will do anything for you. A typically relaxed Italian atmosphere and they encourage you to make yourself at home. The villa is quite a way up the hill from Sorrento but they have a frequent free shuttle service and even free parking for you in Sorrento. Overall a great relaxing setting with the added benefits of a pool and cookery lessons from Maria. Molto bene.
fantastic view of Bay of Napoli
Even in the rain, the view was fantastic. The surrounding 'forest' was from a fairy tale. The staff was cooperative and attempted to meet our every need. The food at the villa was delicious.
Beautiful rooms
Luigi and Anna- Marie were very kind and helpful (allowed me to store my bags there for 4 nights while I toured around the Amalfi coast)!! The private transport they porvided down to Sorrento was much appreciated, though I did walk up to the resort twice in the heat of the day, along a lovely lane but steep (andt busy at times with scooters)! A very nice breakfast was provided too! Great private balcony with glimpse of the sea (other rooms had better sea views)
don't risk it
The views from this guest house are amazing as it is situated in the hills above Sorrento however its position means you are totally dependent on very infrequent shuttle or local buses to get in and out of Sorrento. There are no transport services to get you into town in time for organised tours though you can visit the area by public transport. There is absolutely no where nearby to eat out or buy food. The last half mile of the road is unbelievably narrow, steep and twisting so if you try to walk you risk being flattened by motor bikes constantly going up and down. Taxis can't get up this road you need to wait in a parking lot below for the hotel to pick you up in their narrow cars. We were kept waiting for nearly half an hour to be picked up on our arrival. We booked a double room with sea view but were given a small room with no sea view then left with our cases in a corridor to wait over an hour for a different room. Re food - there were good home made jams at breakfast and sometimes home made bread, otherwise croissants burnt black and processed cheese slices in plastic were not appertising. It was possible to eat there in the evenings. Some guests did and said the food was excellent. We were not able to try it as despite having a garden full of vegetables and serving meat free meals to other guests we were told they didn't serve vegetarian meals. Some guests were worried about the cost of meals as there was no menu or reliable way to find out the cost.

A recommander
Hyggeligt resort

Everything on the property was very beautiful. Beginning with the hospitality of the owners to the friendly and accommodating staff. The rooms were very pleasant with a charm. All room were equipped with all you needed. The grounds were spectacular with very pretty landscaping and the view from our balcony was stunning! The breakfast provided was a mixture of pleasant surprises every morning and delicious. The shuttle to and from was a very convenient option and most definitely very flexible to our schedule. Loved it!!!!
