Awesome Experience
Amazing place to stay and an amazing host
Very friendly staff / owners, good value, comfortable, communicated well and arranged our taxi which was appreciated.
I recommended this property. Really nice service, clean and next to Nile river. If I come back to Aswan I don't hesitate stay again over here.
Very good communication with us. Young man who checked us in was friendly and good English. The hotel is on the water but not a well traveled areas yet on the boat docks. We walked on the hill to the small local store for drinks and snacks and paid 1/5 what we had in the past. $1.70 got us 4 drinks, three bags of chips and ice cream! Room was fine, TV didn’t work and they did offer us “upgrade” room for $15 to one with A/C but we were fine in late March without.
Ahmed and his family run and amazing guest house. Ahmed was very inviting and gracious and has done an unbelievable job building his dream. Not many dining options in the immediate area but you really don’t need to leave. The food was excellent and only surpassed by the views of the lake and Philae Temple.
Area is not so nice
I do not know how this property got the good reviews it has as it is absolutely terrible. If you're a foreign traveler stay away from this... It is impossible to find, even the local have no idea where it is. Access is via a dirt road where I would think twice before going, if I were alone. There is NOTHING around it and one would be very ill advised to venture outside on foot. The room was pretty basic, by no means a "VIP property". Breakfast was cheap, $4 per person, but just as bad. It will put some calories into your stomach, but it won't be something you'd look forward to repeat. All in all a bad experience. It does not deserve to be listed on Expedia.
Clea, comfortable safe, and well maintained
Very kind staffs. Friendly... feel like a family.
The area is remote. Very limited food/restaurant. The owner live upstairs and most of the time no one is downstairs. If you need something, you have to ring the bell at the counter. If you want to order food you have to order in advance at least 1 hour. There is room without AC, so check what’s included before you pay.
Two days stay
I felt I was a guest to a local family house, not a hotel. Ahmed the owner was extremely helpful even though he was away at the time of my stay but he was just a phone call away and very responsive. With all the tips and tricks he was providing about Aswan and sightseeing, I felt the whole time as if I was a family member to him and not simply a tourist from another country. The place is located in front of lake with beautiful view from the window and very calm away from the city business. Would definitely recommend to anyone who likes a calm area and great host.
Great view and great food
We only stayed one night, but the hotel management was very helpful and thoughtful during our time. They made us feel very welcome. In particular, the food was excellent. Like a home cooked meal.
Calm and clean place
The room was very clean and large, with an amazing view. The hotel was a great price for what it offered, had good food and nice hosts. Would definitely recommend staying here.
This place made me feel at home although I was far from home. I stayed here to visit Abu Simbel and Philae temple and it was our experience was amazing and one of the nicest place we stayed at during our Egypt travel. It’s a family owned place and the owner is so accommodating. All rooms have a gorgeous view of the Nile River. All rooms were clean with nice clean sheets and towels. I felt safe here and would recommend staying here to anyone. Also, they have a good menu to order off of and our meals were so good! You can tell everything was made with fresh and clean ingredients. 13/10 would come back here and recommend to anyone staying in Aswan area
I difinatley recommend Villa Milk. My husband and I had a wonderful time. I only wish we could have stayed longer. Our host Ahmed is an extremely intelligent and well travelled man. He spoke English like he was born in the USA. He is well traveled and has lived in the USA for many years. Ahmed and my husband had a long conversation on Yellowstone National Park. I will remember this experience fondly for the rest of my life. Don't miss this experience. Stay at least a few days so you can explore the area, including the Nubian village nearby. There is also a good Nubian restaurant nearby. Lots of boats nearby to take a few our cruise. Thank You Mohammed and family!
It's on the bank of Nile river. The view from the balcony is good.
Clean, quiet, close to Philae temple but away from city (manageable)
It was not what I expected. The area was dangerous, dirty, and remote (nothing nearby that’s walkable). Most of the Taxis won’t go there because it’s hard to get down the dirt path. The owner is never around so his young boy and wife do all of the work (speak little English). Finding switches and working plugs for anything is a real challenge. Note, “ring the bell for service” is not anywhere but they expect you to find the bell and know this before you come.
I love this place. Our room had an amazing view with a huge window over looking the Nile River. Had everything we needed for the stay. Spoke great English and provide us with affordable transportation from airport as well as downtown. Great hospitality!
More breakfast variety
I dont leave review but had to this time
Stayed with my 2 brothers for 3 days. The owner Ahmed and his son Jospeh are great hosts. The hotel is very clean and they helped us set up transport to anywhere we wanted to go at great prices. They also have a nice food selection. My brother is a picky eater and he loved the food. If your looking for a simple but well kept hotel this is it. Im not one that normally leaves reviews but had to after our great experience. You wont regret it.
We only had a one night stay but had a very good experience here. The view from the hotel is the best in Aswan. Ahmed speaks fluently in English and was able to arrange transportation for us as well as sort out an issue with our tour booking. We arrived extremely early for check in without warning him and he was able to accomodate us quickly. He can organize tours as well. The room was very clean and comfortable. The only downside is that there is not much at walking distance but a short taxi ride to town is easily arranged.
an incredible stay in Aswan! the food is DELICIOUS fully homemade. the staff is wonderful. staying here feels like a home. i definitely will be back!!
QUIET OASIS OUTSIDE CENTRAL ASWAN
This place is a calm, NON-SMOKING (tough to fill that criteria in Egypt) oasis far away from the chaos of central Aswan. It is a family-run operation and while it does not have the frills of an upscale hotel or a Western hotel, it makes up for it with its beautiful location overlooking Philae dock and impeccable customer service along with fast WiFi and ample hot water supply.Luckily, the rooms don’t actually face the busy tourist dock itself but overlook the Aswan Harbor. My room had a balcony and I caught some SPECTACULAR sunsets in the evening.I was hard pressed to find a decent location in Aswan without breaking the bank! The host & his son are incredibly prompt and address any concerns with no delay. The doors & gate have multiple locks and I felt safe here. You can order excellent, authentic food with the onsite chef at very affordable prices.I had awesome pizza, soup, rice all tailor-made with some minor tweaks to suit my palette. There is also a tiny kitchen in the lounge with access to hot water, tea, sugar & Nescafe. The hosts speak IMPECCABLE English and there was no problem communicating what I needed. Some reviewers have complained about the location being remote and nothing much to do/see around. That is the WHOLE POINT of this location,to unplug and give your brain & body a calm place to rest up amid a tranquil setting. If you are expecting frivolities like tons of tissue paper, many toss pillows, lots of towels to throw around, disposable cutlery, this is not the place for you.
Hosts are there every step of the way!
Ahmed was helpful even BEFORE I arrived. He helped me with tours and even try to help me with a Nile cruise. I never got to meet Ahmed but his sons were very helpful. We arrived really late and the maid even made us spaghetti:) Ahmed was helpful on WhatsApp and answered all my questions and more! The room was also very comfortable and had a view of the water!
You are in a more remote area, away from commercialism. The view overlooking the boat harbor and the Philae Temple is priceless. Ahmed, his family and staff are the epitomy of hospitality. They offer a menu of home made items that are authentic and tasty. If you are looking for an "travel experience" and not just a tourist, we highly recommend Villa Misk.
The room was super clean, bed very comfortable, taxi's everywhere so transportation is not an issue.
Small, family-run hotel on the banks of the Nile below the old dam. Located in a residential neighborhod with a view of the Philae Temple, a short boat ride away. Although no alcohol is served, you can order from a set menu that is cooked from scratch, the cook is excellent. If you are looking for peace and quiet, and not being close to a lot of tourist amenities, then this hotel is for you.
First of all, the view from the hotel is beautiful. However please beware of these differences so you won’t be disappointed: 1. The hotel is a 20-25 mins drive from downtown aswan As of Jan 2023 a 1 way taxi costs 150-200 egp. Plus the hotel is located on a small dirt road so some taxi drivers do not know its location. Although Careem (Uber equivalent) is available in Aswan, they don’t cover this area. we booked a ride with them but when the driver came to pick us up at the train station he told us that Careem doesn’t cover this area & therefore we have to pay a different price. 2. Very limited dining options around this area 3. Not much to do or see in the area beside the view. 4. The hotel has basic amenities, such as no shampoo, no tissues paper & only 2 bath towels (no hand or wash towels) The shower area is very small so when you take a shower, the whole bathroom is wet. There’s no one in the reception area so if you need something, you'll have to either call or text the owner & this may take some time. Just make sure that you ask all your questions in advance 😀
Unique location with beautiful view directly on the Nile. Owner is personable and kind. A better experience especially if you want something unique, quiet and not a regulaf hotel.
The property is located opposite the second Aswan Dam. The Philae temple can be seen from the hotel. The streets around the hotel are not paved and are a bit difficult to access. The breakfast was small but good.
The hotel was really welcoming and the owner very friendly and helpful. If you are looking for a place to stay while in the Aswan area this is a great option.
The view was awesome Far from dinning and stores
Great location, fantastic host.
No shampoo in room put same hand soap in shower, two lizards in room one owner’s son killed the other hid in the back of the painting. They showed menu in Egyptician pound & later charged in us & showed different menu in US dollar. The owner is very charismatic & big liar, the asked exact work “what you like for breakfast tomorrow “as if it’s included in the room & later charged before checking out. This is the worst place we’ve ever stayed in our lives.
Unexpected magic
We found this place on Hotels.com and it didn't start well. An obstroperous taxi driver and a closed hotel that was some way from where we were dropped off. However, after that, it was magical. A great and intelligent host with perfect information, a night boat pick-up to go to the local restaurant across the Nile was right up there. Moreover, transport to Abu Simbel acquired easily and, while expensive, was worth it for the convenience. The dusk and sunset views from the room were magnificent and the bed/bed linen were of the highest quality, especially needed after the sleeper train from Cairo. This is a special place
Ahmed & his son Joseph were incredible hosts. From start to finish they made sure we had everything we needed, and went above and beyond to ensure we had a great stay in Aswan. Ahmed even made himself available throughout the day if we needed him for booking anything/communicating with locals. If you’re in Aswan, this is the place to stay! I couldn’t recommend it enough.
3 nights at villa Misk
Felt like at home; great view, friendly host providing prompt responses and instant help. Highly recommended.
Property was conveniently located for excellent access to Philae Temple! Private boat transfer came up, right across from the hotel. Property owner was excellent! Super helpful with anything that was required.
Hotel is rustic, on a dirt road
A well spent night in Aswan
I had the briefest of stays due to a tight travel schedule but the cleanliness of the facilities and friendliness of the staff make it very easy to recommend Villa MIsk. I arrived after the local eateries had closed and they were lovely enough to make a much needed and much enjoyed snack; I felt very well looked after.
Love it here
The Villa Misk is a great spot to stay in right next to the Philae Temple and it is right next to the Nile River. Ahmed is a great host he scheduled all of our private transportation to Abu Simbel and on top of it he scheduled all our rides to visit all the temples in Luxor and the valley of the kings and queens. He made the our trip stress free and on top it he schedule our sunrise balloon ride over the valley of the kings.
Love the view from the villa. Faces the boats and can see beautiful sunset. Quiet and very conducive place for rest and going to Philae Temple. The owner, Ahmed is very helpful, very kind and supportive, helped us to organize the trip to Abu Simble. After we left the hotel, he even helped us arranged Nile Cruise, hot air balloon rider in Luxor. I have to say without his help, my trip wouldn't be that smooth and enjoyable, I really appreciated Ahmed's help.
Great place. Beautiful view across Philae temple. Clean room and the ac was good. Family owned and operated...they are very nice and they served us the best food we ate while a week in egypt! Thank you!
Staying at Villa Misk was a joy. Ahmed and his wonderful family went out of their way to make sure I had a good time in Aswan. I was planning on taking a Nile cruise between Aswan and Luxor, but the cruise company cancelled my trip the morning before. When I told Ahmed, he basically saved my trip by helping me plan out the rest of my itinerary and booking reasonably priced alternative arrangements for me. His family also cooked me a delicious vegetarian meal. Would love to stay again!
The view, from our room we had a view on the lake with all the tour boats which was breathtaking. The hotel provides a friendly environment for guest, it's quiet and welcoming.
Clean, comfortable- great view - amazing staff!
Villa Misk is a great place to stay in Aswan. The price is very reasonable and the staff is positively amazing! The rooms are clean and comfortable with a view of the Nile. We traveled to Aswan on a family vacation. With a family of 5 we needed two rooms. The hotel ensured we had adjacent rooms. Even though we arrived after dinner hours, the staff prepared dinner for us. The staff accommodated every request or need. The owner wrote a note in Arabic to show at restaurants in order to explain one of my children has a peanut allergy! The hotel also offered late check out. The maid staff was efficient and friendly. Upon discovering one of my children was feeling ill, one maid immediately went to the kitchen and returned with soup - so considerate! We will certainly stay at Villa Misk any time we visit Aswan!
A perfect stay!
We loved this place and I will definitely stay there again next time. The view was a big Wow, the rooms were very nice with brand new A/C unit. The staff were extremely helpful. The superstar of the year is the owner Ahmed, he worked a major miracle for me and saved my vacation. If there is ANYTHING you need to see or do, he is the guy to get it done and he is extremely nice like a brother. On a scale of 1 to 10 Villa Misk gets a 100 from us.
