Amazing stay with a stunning view. Perfect distance away from downtown, giving you privacy with a feeling of luxury.
Lovely stay. Nice clean apartment. Would stay again. Queenstown centre about a 25 min walk along a nice path along the lake. Warning if you’re in a top apartment, there are loads of stairs to go up and down. With bags.
Happy stay
This property is fantastic, lovely property and superb view. We will only be staying here when we are in Queenstown.
Absolutely beautiful view and very quiet. There is a wonderful path along the lake that you can walk to Queenstown on. It's about a 3 mile walk but is absolutely gorgeous next to the lake and partly through Queenstown park. The bedrooms were roomy and it had 2 bathrooms which was great. UBER was easy to use to get to town fairly inexpensively.
Great view overlooking the lake. Spacious apartment with all amenities.
Expensive for accommodations
The view was amazing and the property was great for an easy and quiet getaway. Very warm and cozy.
New Years Week at Villa del Lago
The location is terrific if you don't want to be in the inner city. (We did not.) The apartment itself was spacious and clean. Only negatives: Comm with office personnel was cool not warm. Dishwasher did not work. There is not a safe to secure laptops, jewelry, etc. Minor inconvenience in that dishes were split between 4 different cupboards even though there was plenty of room in any one cupboard for all dishes. Last-- the in room literature made a big deal about separating your own recycling and then we found that all the bins were locked and everyone had to just DUMP their bags on the ground. Pretty awful.
Great view from both bed rooms and living room. Well maintained and stocked. Loved the stay!!
We loved sitting in the shade in the evening with a spectacular view of the lake. Quiet and perfect if you enjoy a 30 minute walk outside the bustle of the city centre. The rooms are spacious and clean. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend.
Beautiful, well maintained property with amazing views
Had a fabulous stay here. The outside stairs were a bit a challenge, especially with the suitcases. Apartment was delightful and the servicing of apartment on day 2 of our 3 day stay was top class. Staff have also been very helpful as we left a road book behind. Thanks Villa del Largo.
We enjoyed the lovely view, and the room was comfortable. Self check in worked out great once we found the room. It was a longish walk to downtown due to the location, but the walk was pleasant and doable, no complaints there. We did not love the powerful air freshener that was plugged in when we arrived in our room, so we unplugged it for the duration of our stay.
Absolutely beautiful & convenient location & tastefully put together nicest place that we’ve ever stayed made our visit to Queenstown so memorable!
Great place with excellent lake view. Only negative - parking was a little challenging with small spaces and on a slope.
Private with an amazing view. Apartment had everything we needed.
great view. Quiet and lovely bird life outside during the day.
Beautiful unit, amazing views of the lake, great place to stay.
We enjoyed our stay it was great to have an apartment. Nice amenities in the kitchen. The dryer took a long time to dry the clothes, but so nice to have one! Location was perfect! So beautiful right on the lake and easy to walk to downtown. We hated to leave. Parking was available but a very steep drive in area.
Family holiday for 5 nights in Queenstown. Accomodation was comfortable but no one was ever at reception when we went to get coffee etc..
Rough start, but then perfection!
It was a rough start with no one there to speak with and help get settled, but after we figured it all out it was perfect. Would definitely recommend it!
Fantastic view on the lake walkable to the center
Good
The view from the hotel was beautiful and it was a spacious and comfortable room. My only complaints are that the parking was a bit tricky and the washer and dryer didn't work very well.
Great views with all of the amenities you need. Comfortable beds, clean and quiet. About a 25 minute walk into town but access to the electric scooters can make for a speedier trip.
Nice, clean and convenience
Perfect weekend
Such a lovely, quiet and peaceful place to stay. Its approx 20 mins walk from the centre of Queenstown, but there are bus routes which make the journey quick and easy. The views from the property are amazing! We loved our stay!
Would be 3.5 if possible so giving them benefitofthedoubt. Very nice view and nice but quirky place. 40 or more steps to apartment. Heat was from gas fireplace that was very hard to work. Have to take care of trash at checkout but all bins were locked down. So go to the front desk you say. Well the reception never had anone there during our five night stay. You ate on your on at the Villa.
Lovely view over the lake, so peaceful but still walking distance into Queenstown.
Spacious, clean and with a great view over the lake and the mountains. 15-20 min walk to Queenstown central by the lake.
great location, very clean and well maintained, excellent stay!
This is a great property to use for an extended stay. Spacious, full kitchen and fantastic view. Easy 25 min walk to the centre of Queenstown.
Overall this was an OK stay for my wife and myself. The property is a really cool waterfront property, but there are several reasons why I marked it down. First there is minimal parking and it is almost always full so be aware if you drive yourself. Second the shower water pressure was super low so taking a shower was not very enjoyable. And lastly, the TVs are smart TVs but you can’t access any streaming services. Other than those, this place had a great view, and was nice and clean.
Views were great facilities were average for the price needs more cooking utensils if being advertised for full kitchen facilities Bathroom shower leaked so bad we had to call service have us towels to mop up
We had a wonderful stay. The apartment was spacious and had spectacular views. It’s about a 20 minute walk into the centre of Queenstown. We had a plumbing problem in the kitchen that was quickly rectified by the property manager.
Lovely view, nice lakeside walking path to Queentown. Will stay again.
Great view and very comfortable
2nd time staying here and love the fireplace and view. Great set up with a little kitchen and table. Underfloor heating and heated towel rack in the bathroom.
Very comfortable Beautiful view All well equipped
A beautiful experience.
It was just ok. Nothing special.
Great view of the lake, and an easy walk to town. There are a lot of stairs, which made moving the bags hard. Some of the villas are on the road and would be easier than moving bags up and down stairs.
This place had amazing views, it was clean and comfortable and close to town. We would definitely come back here!
Totally exceeded my expectation, the suite was so tasteful, the interiors were beautiful and I had a view of the lake. Reminded me of Europe so much. Walkable distance to town Center if you don’t mind walking 15-20 min one way. I think it was my best decision I made to opt for a lakeside stay rather than central queenstown, it’s definitely of better value and you get more of the beauty of the lake rather than being crammed in central queenstown at high prices. Hotel staff were super helpful and accommodating too. I would totally stay here again
The staff were very helpful. Our unit had an amazing view, was clean, warm and comfortable.
Beautiful views and property. The only downside was there were a lot of stairs to our property and with a lot of lugguage it was not convenient.
Amazing view and great place to stay
Nice cosy unit
Booked the one bedroom with kitchen. View was amazing, room in really good condition. The heated floor and mirror in the bathroom were lifesavers. Kitchen much better than we expected and cooking for a FAILsafe diet with a lot of intolerances was made more manageable than we thought it was going to be. Downsides - The ventilation in the bathroom needs some looking at (turns into a fog room). The tvs need tuning as most of the channels didn’t work. The lights outside coming down the stairs were never on and made coming and going at night quite unsafe (iPhone torch with arm fills of luggage or shopping isn’t ideal), the lights are there, they just weren’t on. Being critical I know and the downsides definitely aren’t going to ruin your trip! The view though needs to be seen to be believed! And if you’re cooking for yourself, worth it.
Fabulous spot, right by the lake, incredible views. The property was incredibly kept, with everything you need. Fire was going when we arrived and was beautifully warm on our cold zero degree day. Only thing was the dryer didn’t work. Walkway into town took about 20mins, not too far and so worth it
All good everything good for us. Nice view
Excellent stay, clean & comfortable apartments. Great location, it is walking distance to main town area. Beautiful views. Staff are absolutely & helpful. Can def recommend.
The view is as good as it gets. In the below freezing nights the studio was easy to heat. It’s a 20 mins walk into town but if the sun’s out then take the lakeside path.
Great views and had everything we needed. However, we had an issue with the shower and werent able to have one in the morning before our busy day.
Great views
Good property just little congested parking otherwise property very clean and staff super friendly
5 star
Amazing view from apt..fabulous decor.super comfy beds.awesome bathroom and showers.laundry facilities..fabulous stay.thank u
We absolutely loved everything about our stay at Villa del Lago! The views from our villa were breathtaking and the interior space was well laid out, warm and tastefully decorated. There were steps down to the lakeside and a path into town, making for many delightful options each day. We will definitely be back....no need to book elsewhere as Villa del Lago had everything we needed.
We had a great stay here. Bathrooms could do with a really deep clean, there was dust and hair build up around outside of shower door. Also hot water was really hard to get often taken minutes to come through and if someone else was running water at the same time as shower the shower water would turn cold straight away. Other than that we had a great stay but probably wouldn’t stay again.
Lttle oasis
Lovely place! Easy checkin and quiet location.
Lovely location just a flight of stairs from the public walkway that goes all the way into Queenstown and along the lake in the other direction. but hillside is steep, so it's very private, as are the units. A very nice unit, well designed, outstanding views across the lake to the Remarkables. Only downside is having to lug bags down a couple of flights of stairs. Make sure you advise Villa del Lago if this is a problem as there are other drive-up units with the same aspect. Quiet and peaceful, about 30-minute walk into town.
Lovely place to stay - warm and inviting Jing when we arrived
uperb views
Superb view, very well equipped apartment
I loved that the staff turned to fire on each afternoon and the great service with the room cleaning etc. The size of the villas were perfect for a 5 person family.
very clean and well equipped. The accommodation has great view as well
Picturesque views from the unit. Unit has everything you need for an enjoyable stay. Friendly and helpful staff. Fantastic quiet location, only a 25 min walk to Queenstown foreshore along beautiful Lake Wakatipu. Not far from the airport or major shopping centres
Beautiful lakeside property and well kept amenities. All went well with this place until I had a bad fall on the staircase leading to the basement where I was trying to get to the toilet. I was wearing bedroom slippers that the villa provided and when i walked down the stairs my foot slipped forward due to poor quality of slippers, and I fell and landed on my backside resulting in a bad bruise. Glass of wine I was holding of course spilled on carpet which we had cleaned. Did not want to make a big fuss out of this until I checked out and villa emailed me and charged me $150 without prior response from me. At very least they could have called me to get a response before this was done. Definitely unbefitting of a five star villa in the way they handled this matter.
We have a small baby so it made navigating all the stairs quite difficult (with pram etc) but it was worth it for that amazing view from the room! The hotel is conveintly located you can go down the stairs and walk along the track into Queenstown. The room itself was exceptionally clean with great amenities however, the bed wasnt the most comfortable. Communication with staff was excellent, they were very welcoming and helpful. Would very much recommend a stay at Villa Del Lago
A fantastic stay!
This is our last staying place for our 20-day South Island trip. It is the best among all of the places we stayed. We stayed here for two nights and the whole experience was wonderful. Before I booked, I was quite hesitate: although the general review was very good, many reviewers mentioned "the owner/administratives speak Mandarin" as a big plus. I was worried that means the place is aiming at Chinese customers, and we don't really see it as a "plus". Yet, it turned out that our worry is unnecessary. The staff members, both Mel and Veronica, are extremely helpful and attentive. The unit has everything (and in very good condition too). The view is fantastic, and our neighbors were great. Only one tiny reservation: the bathtub was not cleaned thoroughly (you could feel residuals on waterline), so we ended up using the shower only. But still, we love this place and highly recommend it!
Avoid room 19
We were assigned room 19. This is probably the worst room because the view is impeded by rooftops of buildings in between it and the lake. I would not have booked this place if I had known that the view would be not as good as in the booking photos. Otherwise, the room was satisfactory. But if a view is important to you, confirm your exact room before you book.
Luxurious & perfect views
Amazing views and luxurious apartment
Excellent location. Very nice setup, but 3rd bedroom did not have bathroom. Balconies provides excellent views.
Hotel rooms were very nice and clean. Dinner in the castle was so-so, paying for the experience.
Amazing location and view. The heater made the place feel so comfy while you looked out over the mountain ranges.
This accommodation was everything I had hoped for! A bit out of town so it was nice and quiet, and is immediately above the walking route into town and around the lake, an easy walk with breathtaking views at every step. The accommodation itself was simply luxurious - I am terribly missing the heated bathroom floor and heated towel rack now that I am home! It would be a perfect base for an extended stay, with all the creature comforts, and easy to come and go as you please. Yes, there are a lot of stairs, but that's what you get when you want waterfront views on the side of a mountain! We'll definitely come back again.
Best place in Queenstown
Mel and the Villa Del Lago team are absolutely amazing! This is our favorite place to stay in Queenstown. The views are epic, the accommodations are incredible. We will return year after year!!
Beautiful lakeside location - a beautiful 2km from town
Very good location, rooms are spacious and clean, everything was fine.
Villa Del Largo is in the perfect location. Just a short walk by the lake to Queenstown but far enough away from the hustle and bustle of this exciting lakeside community. Every room has a wonderful lake view and though it is close to Highway 6A it is very quiet and peaceful. Our condo looked brand new with with a well stocked kitchen of every utensil needed to make a meal. They also have a very well-stocked DVD library for those who just want to enjoy the peaceful lakeside view one evening.
Fantastic accommodation, views & staff support. Highly recommended!!
Nive views, owners are nice, walk to Queenstown 20 minutes
I really liked this property. It was modern, clean, and quiet, which I appreciated after seeing how busy and noisy Queenstown proper was. My only real complaint was the view, which was partially obstructed by the roofline between the apartment and the water. The advertising never led me to believe the view would be obstructed at all.
.clean and good.....................................................................................................
Amazing view
Amazing view and a very comfortable apartment. Everything you need and a very high standard,
Beautiful lakefront rooms!
We did not spend enough time at this gorgeous lakefront property. Though we arrived after check-in, our check-in was made easy with a lockbox and instructions. We were at the bottom, so there were stairs to contend with with suitcases, but it seems this beautiful room is likely a condo. It's well-appointed, quiet, and perfect. The bed was large and lovely, the kitchen spacious, and you can even do laundry here if you want. We really wish we'd had more time to spend, here and in Queenstown generally.
General location good, near the lake and a 2 minute drive to town. However, we had booked a Panoramic Lakeview suite as the photos show on their website. Once we arrived though, found we were behind the front units so had a partial view over rooves to our left and absolutely no view because of rooves to our right. I am still very unhappy with their response, or lack of! And would never have paid that sort of money for that sort of view, or lack of! And Expedia were no use at all and did nothing to offer us another property or any type of compensation. A huge let down to a short holiday we had booked months and months ago to ensure a good spot.
Room with amazing view! a bit out from town center but very quiet and private.
Superb location right on the lake, with privacy and quiet.
Great view, fully equipped kitchen and laundry. Only drawback is the number of steps and the very steep drive. It is also quite a way out of town so you have to drive or walk for around 40 minutes.
Excellent checkin with plenty of help provided on activities to do in area. Stunning villa with beautiful view.
Amazing views and really quiet. Loved the location by the walkway and the lake access.
I Want To Live Here
OMG! Even better than I hoped. An incredible view of the lake, from our living room and bedroom. The fireplace is perfect, if it gets too warm I put it on "effect only". A full kitchen, AND a washer and dryer. About a 20 minute walk to Queenstown, but it's a lovely walk by the lake. The wifi is sufficient to FaceTime our kids. The staff is so nice, I want to live here!
Really enjoyed my stay
Waking up to the view of the lake and mountain is breathe-taking! The room was very big and had all items you could want. Nice kitchen with dishwasher, stove, oven and all the utensils you need. Would highly recommend if you don't mind a 20 minute walk to the downtown.
Just wow!
Just book it - this place is wonderful. We had a 2 bed villa with stunning views out over the lake. We had booked 2 nights and didn't want to leave. The experience of looking out at snowy mountains over a lake and in front of a lovely warm gas fire is hard to beat. The decor is modern and high quality and the beds were very comfortable. There is a full kitchen and the washer and drier were very welcome. The hosts are so warm and friendly and went out of their way to find and book the snowmobiling activity we wanted. This place was one of the highlights of our month-long trip around New Zealand - will definitely aim to come back.
Overpriced and average experience
I made a reservation because my fiancé stayed here 5 years ago and raved about it. Is my first time staying with Villa Del Lago and her second. Unfortunately, we agreed that Villa Del Lago has seen better days. We booked a one bedroom villa for 3 nights stay. We were assigned to a unit that is closer to the lake but we requested to change to somewhere higher. Credit to our host who accommodated our request. Going to list out some of the negatives. There was leftover ice cream from the previous guest in the freezer (we didn't sound it off as it was really not a big deal). Secondly, there were hairs on the towels that were provided. There was only one vanity kit provided which is fine but what irk me is that they don't bother to replace the vanity kit even though we finish using the cotton buds. They simply just put back what was not used back into the vanity kit box. Another minor issue is that they do not. Another minor issue is that they have only rain shower head. We drove but if you don't, it take about 25 mins walk from properties to Queenstown Central. On our last night we took a cab back and cost us $13NZD. Now for some positives. This property provide free car park. Nice views. The host that showed us to our room is friendly. It also comes with a washing machine and dryer. However, for the price, I will recommend other properties instead like Sofitel which provide you value for money services.
Very enjoyable stay! And those mountain views WOW!
Very comfortable self-contained 1 bedroom suite (lake view) with great amenities such as free parking, kitchen, laundry and a gas fireplace! My partner and I really enjoyed our 12-night stay here for our winter getaway. Every day we would wake up to the amazing The Remarkables and we saw some of the most beautiful sunsets from our room! The property was centrally located which made it very easy to get around, especially when booking tours and arranging for pick up and drop off. We also walked into the town centre a few times because the sights from the track were incredible and it was a lovely walk also! The room was refreshed and serviced daily which was nice when spending a big day out and coming back to a cleaned villa. Can't wait to come back! Thank you for a very enjoyable stay.
Simply stunning
You won’t find a more comfortable, beautifully located and personal experience anywhere else in Queenstown. The apartments are faultless and being down from the road and onto the lake is simply stunning and so quiet. Charlotte is the most friendly host along with her staff and she knows all the tricks to booking activities during the stay ....I’ll be back and staying here again
Has it all!
Luxury apartment with beautiful view conveniently located in resort area of Queenstown. A fireplace, double door bedroom that also looks out on a panaramic view of the lake and mountains, and comfortable furnishing are all components of this lovely accommodation.
Quiet apartment with beautiful view of the lake
Great place with very nice views... apartment style complex so no usual hotel amenities. Located 25-30 mins walk from downtown area. Overall great stay!
Book early...the villas fill up quickly!
Perfect spot for us, close enough to walk to the busy but vibrant Queenstown...but far enough away that we experience a quiet, peaceful and beautiful time while in our villa. There are steps to most rooms but a few that are street level so if you have difficulty with stair request upper level. The villa was well stocked and spacious with washer/dryer, we found the bed comfortable and unit was very clean. The pretty walk along the lake to town took us 25 minutes and fortunately we had good weather (March) every walk...but it is not well lit so take a flashlight or taxi back in evenings. We preferred the walk to driving into busy Queenstown and hunting for parking. The staff was most helpful and able to make suggestions on outings...all suggestions were spot on! We especially enjoyed our Air Milford flight-nature cruise as well as our trip to Glenorchy. Time went by too fast...we spent three days here and wished we had planned for at least 5!

Fantastic views from the rooms. A good hearty walk into town with everything you need. Or ten minute drive back to Frankton shopping center. The apartment Had a gas log fire that was so nice. There are lots of steps to the room from the parking area that is also tight. We only had a Yaris Cross so OK. Larger cars like Land Cruisers struggle but can do it.
