Hotel room (double room) was lovely. Old style, high ceiling, large windows, balcony etc. Situation outside the piazza was lovely. Staff were lovely. Like any hotel in the old town noise is going to be an issue. In our case early morning binmen emptying bottles loudly, shop owners below shouting to each other, the odd very late/early moped. But that's the price for old style hotel vs soulless modern hotel.
Couldn’t have asked for a better location, or room. Situated overlooking the church square in the Old Town, and as we had a balcony, we spent time drinking a glass of wine, looking down on the view. Ideally placed for walking around the many little streets, minutes away from the waterfront with an amazing choice of restaurants. Sunbathing beach about 15 minute walk from there. Clear blue water and sandy beach. Our room was spacious and well furnished. Owner and staff were all welcoming, friendly and helpful. Yes! Would definitely stay again.
Loved how close it was to all the stores and restaurants and the port. Staff was fantastic and very accommodating!
Great spot in Old Chania
An amazing location near the middle of Old Town Chania right at a plaza. Includes a cafe out back. The lobby and little suite are gorgeous with a pretty little private balcony. The staff are all very nice and can give you suggestions for local sights and dining. Within walking distance of everything that is in Old Town.
very good location, accommodating and helpful owner, safe for solo female travelers, clean.
5night stay Vilelmine Hotel
We really loved our stay in Vilelmine Hotel, it’s a beautiful old building right in the centre of the old town of Chania. Old building come with restrictions, so no lifts. Might be a problem if you have mobility problems, I say might! because my husband is 80yrs I’m recovering from a broken hip and we managed no problem.. The bed was very comfortable, the shower was super great, the shower cubicle is small. The staff are lovely, helpful and friendly. I would stay again in a heart beat. Just 1 other point it is in a very popular square, so some people are happiest and noisiest late at night, no problem to us but might be if you’re a light sleeper..
Lovely property.
Nice hotel in a good location
We had a great stay. We were celebrating an anniversary and were welcomed with a bottle of wine. The room was clean and comfortable, and the hotel is conveniently located in the Chania Old Town, close to the beautiful harbor.
Chania Old Town
This gem of a hotel is set right in the heart of Chania Old Town, right in the middle of the shops. Even though one side is located on a street with shops and the other overlooking a square it was surprisingly quiet. The beds are so comfortable and the rooms well appointed. This was the former home of the lovely lady on reception who was so helpful. We would definitely stay here again.
What a magnificent time we had here! The room was clean the staff was incredibly friendly (shout out to Marianna) and helpful! The room had real charm…and just a great vibe! The hotel has stairs only which could be challenging for some…if you are driving there is NO parking…and it’s very difficult finding parking period….would definitely stay here again!
Quaint and pretty hotel in a beautiful area. We only stayed one night and had to leave early so didn’t have breakfast but there was a fridge in the room and a coffee maker (excellent coffee). Thank you for a nice stay
Clean and secure
What a great place - location was amazing!! We stayed a couple of days as we were waiting for our Airbnb to become available. The staff was amazing and made our stay awesome.
Everything was great! The only problem was that there was noise from the other rooms even very late at night due to the wooden floors of the building
Journey in time
Very good central location, clean, cosy and very unique accommodation. Feels more home than hotel! Like a journey in time! Staff very friendly and helpful! Totally recommended!
Vilelmine
Lovely quaint families run hotel in the center of old town Chania. Stairs might be a bit of a challenge but location can’t be beat.
Great great great location, staff are so friendly and helpful. Highly recommended.
Wonderful place in the heart of Chania. Beautiful architecture and an amazing view of the port city.
Very convenient, so close to the old town. Staff wonderful. Rustic and fun.
Perfect little hotel
Vilelmine was a quiet hotel with great views and was close to everything I needed during my visit.
Perfect location, right by the Harbor and in the heart of old town. Very neat local boutique with super nice owner. We will definitely be back
Wonderful stay with a gorgeous view, highly recommended.
Great value for the money
Nice and clean, much more quiet than other hotels I've stayed in Chania. Many food and shopping options around the area. Good breakfast, good Wi-Fi.
Nice place
A very central location. The balcony had an amazing view of the square, great for people watching. The apartment was larger than we expected. The bed was comfy.
Lovely gem
Room was very spacious with balcony overlooking square with church. Bed quite comfortable. Easy walk to Venetian Harbor and to bus station for other cities/port. Mostly quiet although you can defined hear the morning church bells.
Fabulous stay
Vilelmine is a easy walk to every where in Old Town, bus station and meeting point for tours. Lovely cafe downstairs on square where we enjoyed breakfast every morning and a fabulous draft of Cretan Beer later in day. Church bells toll at 7:37AM but for me this was like the first alarm ring. Is a family run hotel and everyone is so wonderful. We got many fabulous suggestions and directions. There during extreme heat wave so convenient to come back during the day. Building was a home built in 1900 and has a lot of character.
Great place to stay in Chania. High ceilings and balcony with period furniture make it a memorable stay. Highly recommend Vililmine hotel.
No better location for old town and harbour area
If you want to be in the very centre of Chanias 'happening pedestrianized harbour area' then this is the hotel for you.. Its small, personal and very friendly. one side faces a historic cathedral square, the other a small pedestrian shopping street. Staff are welcoming and the room was spacious and simply decorated in classic heritage style... with a small wrought iron, louver shuttered, marble floored balcony from where you can sit in full sun morning and evening and watch the comings and goings on the street below. the room had beautiful original flooring and furniture with original high ceilings and exposed stonework. the bed was very comfortable and the room air conditioned. A large fridge is also supplied with welcoming complimentary cold water and soda. The bathroom had a good power shower and nice olive based amenities. The hotel has little other facilities except for a ground floor restaurant/coffee shop opening into the square. The hotel is great value for money, 5 mins walk from the central bus station and magnificent harbour and main tourist attractions. The city art gallery (free entry) is 2 minutes walk away as a a pletora of ice cream shops and restaurants... But its central location that gives it preference over other hotels... alllowing you to explore the old town at ease or just sit on your balcony with a cold drink and watch the world go by.. in glorious Cretan sunshine!
Welcoming and solicitous. Would gladly visit again.
Location, location, location! Amazing little hotel, outstanding service, very clean, gorgeous rooms! I was pleasantly surprised! Not even 10 minutes walk from bus station, y are in the middle of Chania, next to best restaurants, cafes, market very close by! Stayed a week, felt like home!
A beautiful, quaint property - very convenient for the old city. Impeccably clean, lovely staff - would highly recommend.
Great stay
Lovely staff and great location. In the heart of old town. Easy 2 minute walk to harbour and 5 mins to bus station. Staff go that extra mile to ensure your stay is good. As other reviewers have said the stairs are hard work when you have been out walking all day. Had room with balcony overlooking the square great views and great for people watching. Would stay there again
Nice hotel central to all shops restaurants and ha
The staff were very pleasant and made us very welcome. The room was very nice and clean and the maid came in every day to bring fresh towels and clean the room. All in all very nice stay here and recommend the place to anyone
Excellent location. Close to bus station. Some music from neighboring bar, but not too objectionable.
Chania
Everything was great, the room, the staff. Beds were a bit hard.
Central Position in Chania
Stayed for 1 week. Hotel very central position on a main square, very comfortable room with some generous little extras, like kettle and coffee maker, and fridge with bottled water renewed daily. Toiliteries and towels renewed daily. Air conditioning was very effective and welcoming. We had breakfast on our first morning, which was plentifull and good value at €6. Lots of choice of restaurants nearby, and on the waterfront. We went to a beach nearby by bus no 21, took about 10 mins, it was clean and had good facilities, don’t know the name think Sunny Beach.
3 Night Stay in June 2018
We stayed for three nights in June 2018. Vilelmine is in a wonderful location, our room was spacious with a cute balcony, and the staff were friendly and very helpful. I wish we could have stayed longer and we would definitely go back!
Delightful position close to the cathedral and main square. Hotel full of character, helpful and charming staff. Very steep stairs which didn't trouble us, but worth considering for folks with mobility difficulties,
Lovely hotel in great location, with friendly and helpful staff. Would definitely recommend and stay there again.
I recommend this hotel in the heart of Chania
This is a lovely hotel very close to the harbour. We had a courtyard view overlooking the Orthodox Cathedral and square which was ideal, clean and roomy. It was also 10mins walk from the bus station so we opted to get the bus to the airport. Runs every half hour very easy and very quick. We will definitely be back 😀
Room, staff and location are all excellent. View from balcony was great. Only gotcha is the rather steep stairs which might be an issue if you have trouble carrying your bags up a couple of flights.
Brilliant location ,very freindly staff ,one of best hotel stays ,Hoply be back next year thanks you.
Nice hotel in the main quarter of the old town.
We like it very much. The view from the balcony was great! The only thing that I would have like it better is that you have to use the stairs, there is not an elevator. The hostess were very graceful and kind.
Fabulous hotel, so happy here
What a great place! Such a beautiful old building, decorated tastefully, so much room and in the middle of everything. We can not fault this hotel. Just perfect.
Lovely little Greek spot
Beautiful room with lots of character. Lovely little balcony for a cuppa and to watch the world go by.
Fabulous hotel.
Fabulous hotel, very close to the city centre and the KTEL intercity bus/coach station. Staff are lovely; Adonis and Maria are great hosts. We originally planned to stay for 2 nights, but we ended up staying for 5.
Charming and competitively priced accommodation
Rooms were charming and nicely decorated. Location was great as right in the middle of the old town. Average comfort and cleanliness level. Good for short stays if you are not planning on spending too much time in your room but prefer to roam the old town.
Exceptional!
Great experience, exceptional hospitality!
3 nights in busy Chania
Small, quirky, atmospheric old building very close to the Harbour in Chania Old Town. Better described as a cafe with rooms. Breakfast is available from the cafe but was not included in our room rate of £86 per night. Our room was on the first floor so the spiral stairway was not a problem but would be an issue if you had mobility problems, especially if you were on the third floor as there isn't a left. The room itself was very clean but the decor was tired and would benefit from updating. Coffee machine provided but no hairdryer! All in all a decent little place that could be excellent with a little more thought & investment. Very noisy at night!
Maria was amazing. She helped me with everything from directions to tours. Her staff was equally amazing. Great to talk to. The room was spacious. I loved my balcony, having my morning coffee out there. Loved the location.
