Amazing little slice of heaven.
The only reason it loses a star is that it’s not the most luxurious. Rooms are clean and new but lack some of the usual amenities like lotion and tissue and robes, and the gym is very small so you have to reserve in advance and limit it to members of your party. However, for the price in that area, it’s a fantastic place to stay. Great neighborhood and convenient to everywhere with a dozen subway lines nearby. I was a bit worried about finding the entrance but Freeman Alley was easy to spot — just make sure your driver goes down Rivington, not Bowery. And no problem checking in after 6 as the front desk was staffed until very late.
Clean, contemporary, quiet and comfy. Very good - the complimentary pastry and barista coffee for breakfast.
Great, fun location. Amazing breakfast. Gym difficult to use.
Loved it!
Great location. Super value.
Friendly staff; clean room.
Hotel inside felt renovated/modern and clean. While the room was small (expected), the layout was very practically and efficiently laid out which made it work functionally. The breakfast pastries and coffee/tea were great! This place was surprisingly good. I would come back.
Nice little place and was able to check in early which was nice
This was my second time staying at Untitled and likely my last. The front desk staff tends to be really callous and the rooms are quite basic. I wish more of the character of their lobby was reflected in the rooms. The mattress was hard as were the pillows. The city view window we paid for made the room frigid on one side and the thermosrat didnt work for most of our stay. I would skip this hotel. Take some photos in the alley and stay at the CitizenM.
I would stay there again!
Really enjoyed our stay at Freeman. Very comfortable bed, nice views. Great location within walking distance to anything you need. We loved the free coffee and pastry for breakfast as well. Only negative is the constant noise from the street all night, so you'll need earplugs.
In a word I would say eclectic. This property is very cool and very hard to see. The room was very small but extremely well designed and really all that you need for any hotel in the city the shower was good size the bed was very comfortable and even though the room was absolutely tiny I can't emphasize enough the fact that it is adequate for a place to lay your head
Well executed accommodation.
I was not familiar with the Bowery/Soho area so it was a bit of a surprise, the grittiness and the "character", but I soon adapted. Nice hotel, convenient to restaurants and subway.
Excellent
Maybe my favorite hotel in America
I love this hotel so much. Aside from just being gorgeously designed in my favorite part of NYC, there are so many great perks of staying here. The breakfast is a perfect way to start your day. Can’t wait to come back!
Funky hotel. Small room. My safe had a sticker saying do not use. When I asked about it at reception they said none of the safes in the hotel worked which is an interesting approach to security.
Cool vibes and people.
No privacy due to construction next door
Very charming hotel, rooms are immaculate. Staff was great.
A really unique location down a graffitied alley. The rooms are compact but cleverly designed and feel warm. The floor is a bit worn and the bathroom felt out of date, but in general the room felt clean and welcoming.
Cool spot
Love Laura in tattoo parlor
Great breakfast options in the morning. Amazing rooftop bar. Room was exactly what you need in a City like New York and the location was perfect - walking distance to some of the best neighbourhoods and multiple subway stop options.
Super unique. Really great spot and stoked at all the extras (coffee, pastries, etc). Staff super friendly and facilities are great!
excellent
The room was very clean, staff were pleasant and helpful. Location was great.
Overall a very fun hotel with a lot of quirks. My room was over the street and, unfortunately, incredibly loud. If you’re looking for a fun and reasonably priced hotel in the heart of the city - you found it! Knowing what I do now, I would absolutely stay here again (and request a room further from the road).
It’s sort of like staying in a clean dorm room. There was literally a bed, in a small room. No art, no rug, no plants, no phone, no nothing. Just a metal shelf in the corner. Was super weird but given it was super clean, worked well for me.
Really cool hotel! It’s small but it uses the space in such a stylish, thoughtful way. Coffee and pastries in the morning was a treat.
Great room, unpleasant entry.
The room was perfect. Did not need fresh towels every single day but also didnt see the option to tell cleaning staff to not change them. I had been to this alley in late 2019 and was very different at that time. I was not aware there would be people shooting videos all day in the alley and painting graffiti. I love art but the daily smell of spray pain was not very pleasant. Having to squeeze by crowds of kids spray painting and dancing and shooting music videos to get to our room was not the best thing but I guess this is not the hotel's fault. Other than that everything was good. Very well located.
This was an awesome place to stay, cool vibes in a graffiti filled alley. Only thing missing is a USB port to hook phone charger to.
Room is very tiny. For one person it’s fine, but my daughter stayed with me a few nights after the NYC Marathon as she could not walk the stairs to her apartment and it is very tight with two people, like bathroom privacy is almost non-existent. Hotel is older, but very clean. Housekeeping service was great, love the free coffee and pastry each morning. Would definitely stay here again if I’m flying solo.
Had disgusting stains on the bedding, was told management would be alerted and contact me, nothing was done.
Convenient, quiet and clean, hip hotel. Staff was great, room was small, but this is NYC. Fantastic alleyway of murals leading to the front door.
Well designed room. Relaxed breakfast room , good complementary coffee and pastries. Great nyc view from my room.
We had a great stay and wish it could have been longer. This was a unique place. Very clean and room arrangement made it not feel too cramped.
Great location and friendly staff. Overall great experience.
Exelent choice
The room was clean and nice.
Business tour to NYC
Contact number doesn't work of the property. False claim of free continental breakfast. Breakfast only has 1 pastry and a coffee. Rooms are old cheap type. Misleading photos of the property. I have now doubt on Hotel.com rating system and would skeptical to book any future booking with Hotel.com
The art beautiful.... graffiti I love it
Brilliant location, no frills hotel but doesn’t feel scrimped on in any way. Can’t recommend highly enough
New Favorite Hotel in NYC
Wow. What a hidden gem! A part of me did not want to leave a review because I want to keep this hotel for myself. Great staff. Beautiful little courtyard. Awesome art. Clean. Great coffee and pastries to start the day. Lots of close options for food. This is my new go to hotel when staying in NYC.
Stay here!
So cute and comfy! Great amenities, the cafe in the lobby makes delicious matcha lattes and perfect croissants(that are free for breakfast). I loved the art everywhere and the overall feel of the hotel with the two courtyards. Freeman alley is a photographers dream. Next to the subway made for an easy hop on and hop off to everywhere. Easy check in, super friendly and Uber clean. ❤️
Amazing! Very clean! Friendly front desk
Feels like a high end European hostel vibe. Clean and nice. Rooms are a bit on the smaller side but perfect for one person or two who don’t plan on being in the room much!
Art District?
Looks are deceiving. When arriving at hotel we were very leary of staying there as we had to walk down an alley full of graffiti. Once we made our way down the alley we were pleasantly surprised. The hotel was very nice and clean.
Extra small
Hotel is nice and clean and staff is great. Room do not have double fading and construction outside usual NYC traffic kept me awake all night. Definitely not worth the money.
Our stay at this hotel was fabulous! It is a great low cost option in the city that is walkable to nearly everything downtown, is safe, and very clean. The complimentary iced coffees and pastries in the morning were a plus! The rooms were very clean and cute, not big but perfect for a one evening stay for two. The staff was very nice as well and accommodating with holding our luggage! Also, great photo ops around the hotel including a Photo Booth, graffiti street, and hip stylish lounge. The only thing I would change was maybe a voucher for a parking garage nearby as we spent nearly $130 on parking for one night. Looking forward to returning!
Exactly what we wanted - a base for our 4 night trip to NY from UK. Friendly helpful staff. Good location close to subway stations for a few lines. We had the most basic room on 3rd floor and we had everything we needed and the bed was so comfy and pillows were good quality too! They offer a free luggage storage on your last daily which was great as our return flight was 7pm. Also managed to get an appointment with Saint at the on-site Unscripted Ink tattoo shop - lovely way to remember the trip. Highly recommend Saint too, truly professional and knows his art ☺️
Cool place for an affordable NY visit
I enjoyed the little room with everything so well thought out. The free breakfast and good coffee was excellent - very artsy place and lots of cool looking visitors.
It’s a really cool surprise of a place. The outside is very arty and urban, yet the inside is very simple and classic. I think they could bring a bit of art to the rooms as well! Was very clean and pretty quiet considering the area.
LES gem
Great experience. The room was clean, minimialist with a comfortable bed. They have a great rooftop bar with an excellent view! Located right in Lower East Side just steps from the best restaurants, shopping and nightlife. Easy walk to Soho
Terrific rooms and amenities. A bit scary getting there.
Quirky little hotel handy to many things with friendly staff
Staff is GREAT! Breakfast - excellent coffee and a selection of delicious puff pastries. I liked the modern interior design.
Hidden down an alley lined with fantastic colorful graffiti
It is a surprise. Know about the area and Freeman Alley. The location and access is not for everyone, but inside hotel is really nice. Rooms are clean.
Love this place. 2nd time staying here. Great new tattoo shop in the lobby. Great spot all around.
Handy hotel-style lodgings a block from Bowery
This was a great place to stay for a solo business trip. The queen room I stayed in would have been tight for a couple, not least because the bed platform is against the wall on two sides, but it worked perfectly for my needs. The complimentary coffee and pastry each morning was a nice touch, as was the discount for drinks in the rooftop bar. I would certainly return to this property in future.
No Gym, cool vibe, better places nearby.
Untitled has a funky entrance and vibe. The free espresso drink and pastry is a nice touch. However I would have left on day one if I hadn't prepaid for the room. To say they have a gym is literally false advertising. There is no gym, its a treadmill with a set of 15lbs dumbells. THAT'S IT. I had to signup for ClassPass to find a gym to exercise in each morning. Also, the bathrooms are pretty tired. 1985 called and they want their bathroom back. Such a horrible contrast to what is actually a great room. Bottom line - if you like the street art, come visit and take your instagram photo. Otherwise, stay elsewhere. There are much better places to stay literally down the street. And they probably actually have a gym.
Welcoming
Untitled at 3 Freeman Alley is a delightful spot with a great ambience and excellent coffee and pastries. The friendly and impeccable service enhances the overall experience, making it a worthwhile stop for anyone visiting NYC, especially the Lower East Side.
Not as new and clean as I would expect but still pretty good. Room size slightly smaller than it looks on picture. Super convenient location and nice view on the bar level.
Our stay was wonderful! We stayed in the family bunk room with our two young kids and it was very comfortable. Beds were like clouds, every detail of the room/building was meticulously planned and thoughtful. Staff was friendly and coffee/breakfast was delicious. We even got tattoos from Liv in the Unscripted Ink shop attached to the hotel and it was a lovely experience. **The noise was not an issue on the fourth floor and of course the sidewalk kind of smelled like urine but this is NYC and those reviewing poorly stating these as problems of the hotel need a little class on situational awareness!! ** 10/10 would definitely stay here again and also get more tattoos from Liv. Can't wait!!!
The property is NOT for family. When we arrived at night, some teenagers were hanging out in the dark alley doing some creepy activity and you can smell urine from n the alley.
Wonderful stay!
Wonderful experience! Seriously wondering why some people leave negative reviews about this property. They should just stay home! Just goes to show that you cannot please some folks! We will be back!!
Awesomeness
Clean. Efficient. Nice design. Quiet location. Some personality but not too much
It was a nice option to a regular Hotel, the location was great. We’re at the bar early, wish they’d offer a wider variety of cocktails.
Unique place with characters
Positive area: Hotel staff is very friendly and helpful and upgraded us to the higher floor to avoid noise from the street. “Thank you”! The bed/pillows were very comfortable. Area for improvement: It took 4-5 minutes to get the hot water going from the shower. The shower gel did not work properly. The room door slammed shut so you can hear other guests coming late at night. The lighting system is designed for turning off all the lights by the door. You can not turn on just the bathroom light in the middle of night without waking up your partner. Overall, cool spot for short stays with many shops and restaurants nearby.
Love
Love love love.
Enjoyed the free breakfast! Rooms are quite small, which is fine, but would appreciate more space to hang clothing or to put stuff down.
Great place
Hotel is in a super cool and central location. It was great to be surrounded by so much art and active art.
Totally recommend
Absolutely loved this place
One of the best hotel stays I've ever had! Great rooms, great amenities (free coffee and a pastry), great location and great vibe. We even ended up getting tattoos at the parlor tucked into the back of the hotel! Would 10/10 stay here again.
Small room but perfect for 2 people. Clean room and great area. Close to Chinatown and Little Italy. Food options are endless. Would stay again!
Loved my stay. Will be recommending to others and hope to come back.
Great!
Not so easy to find, but hotel was nice, close to SOHO restaurants.
Small rooms. Clean. Great location.
Very clean. Excellent service. Small but efficiently designed rooms. Hip entry area. Close to subway.
Super clean and quiet
Great Location and Friendly Staff
Location is fantastic! The hotel served its purpose for us as a home base on vacation and was comfortable when staying there. The staff is very friendly. Free mini breakfast items is a good perk for staying in NYC and you can’t beat the view from the 11th floor deck!
Cool location
Fun hotel. Really comfortable bed and room. Thought of everything in room setup. Loved the refillable glass bottle in room and water filtered station in the hallway. Complimentary barista coffee bar and fresh pastries were excellent. Definitely a fun way to experience NYC.
The staff were really relaxed and nice the room was nice and quiet and the hotel was very convenient to the subway. Highly recoomend it!
Our room looked exactly like the pictures. It was clean, a little cramped, but they utilized the limited space very well. The bluetooth speaker in the room is a nice touch. The pastries in the morning were delicious and the common areas were pleasant to hang out in. Location is great; I got everything I expected with this stay.
Highly utilitarian but quaint, designerly and fun. TULU rental equipment is on point. Small rooms (typical of NYC) but well equipped and bright and sunny. Terrific views from upper floors, great area. A
My room and this property are SO quiet, I will absolutely stay here again. It's a perfect place for when you want a nicely designed but minimal (and comfortable!) room / bed. The lattes I had in the morning were fantastic and included in the cost. Will definitely recommend this place to friends (and Freeman's next door is excellent)!
The area felt unsafe, it smelled like urine on the sidewalks and in the ally. I would not stay here again.
Xoxoxo
Good
It’s a very unique location in Freeman Alley. The free pastry and coffee for breakfast was delicious and when I had an issue with the ac the hotel’s response was quick and polite.
I was in town for a 4 day business trip. the location seemed like a gamble when looking online. But I felt very secure throughout my trip. It is an urban area and so situational awareness is always important. But I felt free to walk to Little Italy for pizza one evening and to China town for food the following day. There is a small but lovely park a half block from the alley entrance. Plenty of small shops to browse. The food choices are almost overwhelming. There is an ice cream shop a few doors down that was a lovely find. And after my 3rd visit to the city, I have yet to encounter anyone who wasn't gracious and accommodating. The staff was uniformly courteous and professional. There is a diner on the first floor and a nice restaurant next door available in the evenings. I personally loved the funky vibe. The graffiti made the place feel very alive rather than scary. I brought along some stickers of artwork my son created, and I was able to add my small piece to the mosaic of stickers in the elevator. The rooms are small compared to hotels in less populated areas, but they make good use of the space. Housecleaning came each day. No bedbugs! The 6th floor room was quiet. I'm likely to head back to NYC by end of year for more business, and I very much hope to be able to get a room here again. I couldn't think of anything they could do to make me happier than I am with the experience.
Meh, feels like a college dorm experience
Excellent location, but the room felt like a step above a college dorm or hostel, checking in with your RA. I normally stay at Public Hotel around the corner for work, but figured I'd save $100-150/night, but I wouldn't do that again.
Surprisingly quiet during sleep hours. Staff was friendly and allowed my daughter to play piano at their cafe 🙂
Great spot
Great location. Close to everything. Have stayed in various parts of manhattan and this location is by far best
I loved our stay here. The rooms were small but perfect! The area was down an alley so it was like it’s own “little” property. It had its own restaurant down the alley, a rooftop bar, a cafe with free morning coffee and a pastry, and a super cute tattoo parlor in the back of the lobby! Very clean, safe, with a lovely staff. Definitely would consider coming back if back in NYC!
So happy I chose this place!
