Everything was clean and staff were friendly. It felt like a safe place. The breakfast was too simple. On previous stays they provided a wonderful breakfast. After we ate Toscana we had to go somewhere else to finish our meal. The shower was pitiful. There was so little presure it projected only about 6 inches. Nevertheless our stay was pleasant.
Very nice great price
Very nice and accommodating staff. They went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. Will definitely book with them again.
Nada
Nice, even luxurious hotel in convenient neighborhood with dining options nearby.
The staff very attentive and friendly. this place had a 9.0 review, I don’t think this is an honest rating because just across the street there was piles of trash I also found a roach in the bathroom and the breakfast very limited..
Friendly helpful staff, big clean room.
Nice place, good price
This place is reasonably priced, pet friendly, super clean, good location. My only complaint is minor, there are not convenient outlets in the room, and we all travel with devices now that need charging! Otherwise, my second stay here was great and I will book again!
Needed a pool.
The desk clerk was very rude and I told her thzt that the phone in my room didn't work she Never got it fixed. I had messages she never told me. My lawyer personally had to come and tell me that my room phone was not working. He said that he called the desk several times then he came to pick me up. He spoke to her and stated that she was rude to him as well. Will never stay there ever again.
Good place to stay.
We have stayed at Toscana Inn several times for the past 9 years. Good breakfast, comfortable room and friendly staff. Walking distance to many shops and restaurants.
Always a pleasure.
I have stayed at the Toscana many times over the years. Excellent choice between Albrook and PTY airports. The staff there are superb and very helpful (Thank you again Elizabeth). Its an older Inn and shows some signs of age but very comfortable.
good staying
it was very good staying, but it an usual ring door bell sounds two days in a row at 3:30 in the morning that woke me up. look around couldn't find anybody. perhaps was on the floor above. but woke my up in the middle of the night. overall it was very good
Place was dirty and had roaches. Breakfast and cleaning staff were nice; however only some front staff were welcoming others were rude. I won’t be returning to this place.
While not luxurious, the Toscana is a good, nicely priced choice in Panama City. It's in a good area of the city, within a safe walking distance from many shops and restaurants. Many hotels in Panama City have raised their prices dramatically since the pandemic settled down, but the Toscana seems to be holding their price at a reasonable level.
Night out with friends
Friendly staff. Place is a little outdated but clean.
The staff were extremely friendly and helpful.
Very poor dinning area.
Good choice in Panama City
I've always enjoyed our stays at the Toscana Inn. It is comfortable, friendly, and peaceful.
Not enough parking space inside. Bad neigborhood.
Back to Panama
It was a short stay. Good service, friendly staff. Clean hotel
Property was fine… At first they gave me two double beds and I was supposed to get a king size bed… They immediately corrected it and got me to a king size bed that was much appreciated they did very well. I had a great day and will return
Rodrigo checked us in quickly. He is always helpful and friendly.
Always great
I stay here 4 to 6 times a year. Always a pleasure.
clean
Toscana Inn has changed since my last stay. The food service is not as good. The staff, however, was friendly and helpful. Toscana Inn is quite centrical and close to the Metro.
Great place to stay!
Pros: Everyone here is amazingly friendly. Most of the staff speak some English. There is a lovely veranda on the 6th floor where you can sit out in the air. It's walking distance to countless restaurants, a Rey’s supermarket, a bakery (the daily fresh bread is amazing), the Metro, a laundromat ($10 will get you a full basket of clean clothes delivered to the hotel), a barbershop, a medical clinic, and a pharmacy. There was not a lot of bar or traffic noise. There is covered, secured, parking. They are very focused on safety and health: There are wall-mounted hand sanitizers by the elevators, they took both elevators out of service briefly while we were there for maintenance, and the housekeepers absolutely scrub every floor and hallway. The sheets are high quality – not scratchy, and the pillows were not overstuffed. The front desk guy found us cheap covid tests for our return flight. The hotel has a restaurant that serves a hot breakfast and is also open for lunch. Cons: They only heat the water in the mornings. But in the evenings the water was still comfortably warm. The Tocumen Airport has better toilet paper. The room safe couldn’t be opened – it was locked shut. The ‘business office’ is a small room with one computer and two chairs, but you can use the printer at the reception desk. I had several items of clothing disappear from the room after housekeeping was there, but the laptop, kindle, and smartphone were totally out in sight and never had a problem.
Very pleasant stay.
We stayed at Toscana Inn several years ago and were happy then as now. Because of COVID the breakfast buffet is replaced by a served hot breakfast. Our room was comfortable and clean, staff was very friendly and attentive to us. We would stay again. We like this location because it is close to restaurants and shops we like.
The staff was very helpful and the room was clean.
Good service
Great Location
Friendly staff and helpful, near public transportation with plenty of dining options
The Tuscan style. Lamps, furniture, etc.
Rodrigro at check in is great
I was asked to change rooms 2 times, 405, 406 than finally to 407. There were no blankets in the room just a top sheet. The wifi did not work. It was an older building which I did not mind but really thought it could have been much cleaner. There was thick dust on the phone lamp shades and just felt a bit dirty. Staff was friendly though.
Loved the staff
Great staff, right price
The Toscana Inn is one of my preferred places to stay in Panama City. El Cangrejo has a nice assortment of stores and restaurants as well as places to stay. The location is also near the financial district so you are a short distance from major banks and immigration firms. The hotel has most of what you need at a reasonable price. There's comfortable beds, free wi-fi, a restaurant in the lobby, an in-room safe and mini-fridge. I was most impressed with Rodrigo, the daytime front desk person. He's fluent in English, customer-friendly and willing to offer his best price. I had some special needs due to an overnight bus ride and he not only was willing to hold my luggage in the lobby before check-in but actually found a room I could stay in before the check-in time. The Toscana Inn reduced my stress level during an emergency short-notice trip and I appreciated their willingness to find solutions for me.
The gentleman who checked us in was great. Helped me download app for dinner delivery during the lockdown Rooms could use a deep clean and some TLC.
Nice place. Convenient to the Airport.
For the money, its a great deal. The staff has always been fantastic and very helpful. Its an older hotel, but served its purpose well while traveling in and out of Panama City.
Better than expected
I traveled from the countryside of Panama to spend only for a place to stay. I was surprised with the cleanliness and staff attention in this place, aside of it’s cheap cost. It is located in a very central place. Definitely a place where I’ll come back anytime. Very nice place.
Amazing
I didn’t like the air conditioning Was hot and darker need more light
As I entered in lobby there was a stink smell the check in was smooth. Room I got has also stink smell, wardrobe door was broken, bathroom wasn’t clean, on tv no cable and trying to call at front desk and phone wasn’t working. I went downstairs to make complaint but nobody showed up and than I requested to change the room it was totally DISASTER there was no AC remote in the room I wouldn’t recommend anyone this hotel
The black man at night and during the day he offered great service
Very helpful and friendly staff at the front desk.
Room was clean but bed linen had marks on it. 2 towels for shower but no hand towels. TV remote very well worn, on/off did not work. Breakfast ok but not great.
disorder in the allocation of rooms, deliver rooms that are already occupied. Bad service in the restaurant, poor friendliness
Room was filled with mold. Thet mov3d us ti 4 more rooms. No better condition. The rioms did not have any towels. The women at the desk just did not care. Never again. We had no choice but to stay one night as to they would not refund me and just let me not stay. I felt like a hostage . Moved to the Hampton by Hilton down the street and it wad so, so, so, so muchbetter Do not stay here. Hampton fir a few more dollars and. 150% better
The staff was very polite and friendly. Rooks are extremely clean, and the house keepers are extremly hard working. Its locatation is very convenient!
Basic older hotels ..wont be back
Pictures are nothing like what you get. The hotel is much older. Beds are bowed..bathroom dirty, hot water is not very warm, they charge if you take the breakfast. Will not be back..there are much nicer places for less.
Friendly people. Building is not very kept up. Room smelled funny cause AC was off. Smelled like mold or mothballs. Bedding had small rips and tears. It just wasn't what I expected.
Pretty, comfortable, centrally located.
I was very surprised that there was no hot water in the shower - but otherwise a very nice stay.
For the pricing of the hotel, it was great. Great location and nice staff
As usual, the Toscana is a great place
Great place to stay as a launching point for the rest of Panama. Easy access to the Metro station and lost of places to eat in the area.
Very good... staff @ service desk was very good... nice clean comfortable king size bed.... the only thing that I would say needs improvement is the hot water...took a short shower as the hot water was not that great but doable ... I like my showers to be moderately hot!! Just a personal preference!!
Go see Panama City!
I loved the place and the staff was outstanding
Helpful, friendly staff. Good sized room. Great location. Breakfast average.
Great space with lots of room for luggage. Big bed. Bathroom was small. Air conditioning was very cold but we could not control it or turn it off. Although we voiced our concerns, nothing changed. Breakfast was nothing great.
Great front desk people, nice rooms. Privacy. Breakfast issues
Staff could not locate my expedia reservation and charged my credit card even though the bill was pre-paid, without telling me. If i hadnt confirmed the final bill on check-out i woudl not have been given a refund! The electrical breaker in my room failed and the front desk made me go back twice insisting i jam 2 door keys in the breaker to force it to stay on. Very disappointing customer service. I have stayed at this property since 2011 and this was my only disappointing stay but must be addressed
.The lights did not all work Reception was great and service was very good
Very hard to find if you drive to the hotel! Breakfast was a little poor, and parking is terrible. The room was nice and clean. For the same price, I think other options around the same are are recommended.
for me, a good and convenient place to stay over for 1 night for a connecting flight. Accommodation includes a tastefull breakfast with fruits, tea, coffee, cornflakes, bread, saucages, etc. Trip from/to international airport costs about 15 US dollar one way (hotel receptionist was so helpful with arranging for me) for a private taxi. 'Collectivo's" are a bit cheaper. Good, clean room. Quiet place but close to shopping streets.
Mixed Feelings
After reading many, many reviews of various hotels listed on Expedia, there were quite a few that pointed out the helpful staff at Toscana (apparently more helpful than at other hotels)...and I agree. The front desk staff bent over backwards to help with a room upgrade, taxis, tours, airline check-in, and a multitude of questions. I can’t thank them enough for putting up with me! We appreciated the breakfast each morning, the all-day coffee, and the staff was always willing to refill our water bottles. Also read in the same reviews, were comments about the overall quality of the hotel. I had never been to Panama, so I have no other local hotels to compare to this one. But, based on other hotels in other parts of the world, I was a little disappointed in the hotel room itself. The bathroom was small and in need of supplies as well as fixture upgrades. The tile floors were routinely dirty, so the bedding became dirty easily. As for location, we found Toscana to be in an area of town where we felt safe walking several blocks away to the Main Street where many shops, fast food restaurants, and grocery stores could be found. There are fun little Mom and Pop restaurants on the same street as the hotel as well as on surrounding streets.
This Hotel is very good : NOT excellent
Front lobby service : poor: they did not seem to care . Room : very good ; Breakfast: basic but good. Location: very good
Very nice accommodations. good location. very nice staff
Happy and content in the Toscana
Friendly and helpful staff. The location is also perfect as it is close to many places including the metro.
A little disappointed
I have been in similar price range with more satisfaction. Little bit dated. The room was hot when I got there. When I asked in the front desk I got an explanation not an apology. The breakfast was okay, but basic; the attention there was okay, but nothing special. The front desk were helpful when looking for local area information. At the end the card that turns on the AC and lights didn't function; I had to finish my packing in the darkness. I just hope that the hotel from my previous visit won't be booked when I visit Panama City again.
Acoustically transparent walls and other nits.
I stayed at the Toscana twice (one night before and after a scuba diving cruise to Malpelo Island). In addition to the acoustically transparent walls, the lack of attention to the little things really detract from this hotel. On the first stay, I was kept awake most of night by the snoring of the guest in the room next to mine. On the second stay, I could hear normal conversation and the TV in the adjacent room, which was not only annoying but at all hours. Instead of salt shakers in the restaurant, the Toscana has the paper envelopes like those at fast food places. There's only lukewarm water available starting in the late evening (around 9 pm) and lasting until early morning (guessing 5 am). The shower stall for my second stay leaked and after a shower, the bathroom floor would be partially flooded. While there is some charm to staying at what seems to a family owned hotel, the only staff who speak English are the desk clerks. Communicating with the restaurant staff is impossible unless you know some rudimentary Spanish. There are so many potentially better options in the same vicinity as the Toscana that I would look elsewhere. I would not stay at the Toscana again.
Very convenient
We enjoyed the breakfast and location. There are good restaurants in the area and the staff was truly excellent Would recommend this hotel above any of the others in this area. I was traveling with a group of friends who were first time visitors so Luis the hotel driver took us on great tours of the area
Excelent service. Totally recomended
Everything went excellent, good location, parkin lot, food, etc.
one minpount no warm water in the evening brrakfast need more items
Nice hotel in a good quiet location
Good value for the price! Comfortable bed and allowed early check in.
Great Value For Money Good Location Helpful Staff
I am really glad that we choose Toscana Inn as it shows that you don't always have to spend a lot of money in order to get a really nice hotel! A LOT of restaurant choices within close walking distance. Front staff very helpful (They did seem to understand English but I had a bit of difficulty understanding some of them ) The breakfast buffet was sufficient with slight changes every day. (One morning they had boiled eggs which we didn't want so one of the workers in dining room arranged for us to obtain some scrambled eggs) I was really Impressed with the size of room - it was quite spacious and it felt like a real vacation type space. However, we couldn't get a shower without water escaping onto the bathroom floor The WiFi service was Excellent! Private car/van drivers for hire were usually waiting outside of the hotel As mentioned in other reviews, the water in the shower at night was not very hot *The hotel has a Restaurant Guide pamphlet which shows on a map a lot the restaurants that are located nearby. No one mentioned this pamphlet to us when we arrived at the hotel after 9pm on our first night asking for suggestions of places to eat. It wasn't until our 3rd night when we asked where a particular restaurant was located that they presented us with this pamphlet. One day we came back from an outing after 3pm and our room had not been cleaned yet. Shortly afterwards a friendly maid came to the clean the room. We used the opportunity to go and eat
Great hotel option in Panama City
This is a great hotel in Panama City. It is in a good safe area of Panama City. We walked all around the area. Lots of good restaurants nearby. We did a lot of sightseeing in Panama and this made for a good base to do that. The breakfast was a good way to start the day. By the way, we used Uber for many trips and it worked great. We would definitely stay here again if we went to Panama City.
Would not recommend to any friends
Stayed four nights and after the first night, panties were stolen along with a cellphone on the room across the hall. Different cleaning personnel was used on that floor after these incidents. No issues after. The only good thing about the hotel is the location.
Nice hotel in a good location
I stayed already before in this hotel and it is perfekt for me
The area where the hotel is has deteriorated
Comfort wise is Ok, but hotel seems run down. Free breakfast is not appetizing. Very badly cooked and presented.
Awesome stay
Great staff
Keep your confirmation
Great hotel but they did not have our hotels.com reservation. Luckily I could prove. Same for the free breakfast.
Clean rooms
Very clean room with comfortable bed. Service was outstanding.
Toscana. A bit of Italy in Panama City.
Stayed 8 days and enjoyed the hotel and would highly recommend it. Much more value than price charged. Very clean. Caring staff. The lobby has a European flair and is comfortable. The lobby and all floors have some great large framed colorful original paintings. I walked each floor to see them all.
Turner's Vacation
My wife and I enjoyed the trip to Panama especially the hotel stay. I would tell everyone about this hotel and the staff.
A great spot in the heart of El Cangrejo
I stayed at the Toscana Inn Hotel with friends in April 2016... It's in a great location within Panama City's El Cangrejo district, a very safe area with lots of restaurants and pubs, as well as being only a few minutes' walk from the main roads of Via Espana and Via Argentina. The staff there were always cheery and willing to help with any questions we had regarding transportation, day trips, etc. I have to add that the bed and pillows there were the second best I'd ever slept on at a hotel... great sleep quality night after night, plus a tasty, varied, and filling breakfast offering that changes daily for when you wake up. The hallway architecture is a nice little bonus, reminiscent of old-world Spanish charm. Not a one of us had any bad experiences there- smiles all around.
Nice hotel in El Cangrejo
This is our third stay at this hotel. It is predictable and dependable.
Hotel offered free breakfast which was excellent. We preferred to have lunch at the hotel.
Well-located, welcoming hotel
I stayed three nights at the Toscana Inn. It's in a great area with lots of restaurants on the doorstep and easy access to the Metro and Metrobus. The staff were welcoming and helpful; the hotel was sparkling clean and the room was well-equipped.
Very Pleasing
We experienced a great deal of comfort. The rooms are larger than we expected. Very comfortable lounge, nice, clean facilities, great service, helpful English and Spanish speaking staff. We were checked in right away as soon as we gave all our information. Walking distance to shop and restaurants, Mcdonalds of course. Very close to the convenient store where we bought ice cream, fruits and water.
It's ok, close to metro
We arrived very early in the morning, we got the room which was very nice. Staff is ok, not a lot of smile. Breakfast is ok, not a lot of choices. Hotel room is big enough, but the bed was not so comfortable. No Coffee or tea maker in the room. Metro is around 10 minutes walk.
Look No Further!
Toscana Inn is an excellent choice in Panama City, close to restaurants and groceries, a beautiful European-style small hotel that is very comfortable with friendly and efficient service in English. We enjoyed the quiet rooftop patio all to ourselves one evening, and the restaurant serves a large breakfast buffet and wonderful dinners. We preferred this hotel by far to our previous stay at Best Western Panama Zen.
Nice hotel near everything
This hotel is very good for its price. You have lots of things close to you walking distance to alot of restaurants, stores and Casino! Room was very clean, bed was confy. Great place to stay.
Good, quiet downtown hotel with excellent service
This hotel is on a quiet side street in an area with a choice of very good restaurants (and even a brew pub or two) within a block. Rooms were clean and comfortable, fully updated, c/w small fridge, of typical hotel size so not large or small, bathrooms up-to-date and clean with plenty of towels. We had a very comfortable king sized bed. Service was excellent, particularly helpful front desk staff who spoke colloquial English, and could help organize tours. Only drawback was dirty glasses in the room one day (we stayed a total of 3 nights). Free parking in a small enclosed garage space off the lobby is useful if you rent a car. Clients appeared to be from around the world. The small restaurant offers buffet breakfasts including a selection of good hot food as well as breads, cereals and fresh fruit, you may wish to find a rate that includes breakfast. Generally, a solid little (six floors of rooms) hotel with above average service.
We are always greeted well. The doormen and reception always remember us from previous visits. We had breakfast included, which was ample and varied daily.
Great staff, impressive entry way
It was overall a very pleasant experience. The only negative is the maintenance in the bathroom with bad grout and caulk repair, which makes it less inviting. Just make sure you don't go to puntarenas, which is very close by. It had great reviews and yet our dinner was barely edible.
Quiet, clean. Would stay again.
Helpful staff. Clean and quiet. Breakfast was mediocre but convenient
Great little hotel
Have stayed here many times over the last 10 years. The staff is very friendly and always willing to help. They keep the whole place very clean. Many of the staff speak good English. Have left my vehicle with them many times for month on end. I can only recommend this hotel.
Good Price & Great Customer Service
Loved the Toscana Inn. The desk staff was extremely helpful, especially Rodrigo. The breakfasts were good and their is lots to do within walking distance.
Great hotel in the heart of Panama City
Great location, nice hotel, wonderful staff. Our stay was pleasant and the food in the restaurant was fine. Only detractor was noise in the next room/hallway, but we had air conditioning and slept well despite the noise.
Clean rooms, friendly and helpful staff Close to City, outlet stores and Metro
