Decent hotel with several downsides

Reasonably sized and comfortable room with several downsides. First was the smell of smoke whereby I requested a non-smoking room. The in room dining menu stated it was available up to 10pm but when I called at 9.45pm, I was told it was no longer available. Lastly, my colleague who book into the same room category received fruit basket and dumpling whereas I did not have any welcome items. Rather disappointed with a hotel branding that is under Westin.

Great family hotel

We loved our stay and the location was great. The kids loved the pool. We upgraded to the Club Room and it was well worth it.

Romantic Getaway

The location and the staff are absolutely amazing

Excellent location but the staffs attendance levels to be further improved, looks like insufficient staffs to attend guests' needs. My experience is call to from room to operator, there is even no one pick up. Concierge is always no staffs there at least when I was there 2 times. Besides this, generally I am quite happy with the service from staffs...

Almost nothing is working properly in the room. The food of breakfast is terrible. Air conditioner is noise all night and doesn’t work at all.

VERY DISAPPOINTING! We stayed at this hotel two separate times in a one-week period (different room each stay). The overall impression is the management doesn't have a clue how to maintain the cleanliness of the rooms - certainly not sufficient to be "entitled to" the "Property Class" appearing on expedia for this Hotel. There were numerous places on the ceiling that indicated water damage (paint was blistering up), and the Shower/bath area had a "mature growth" of mold - not what I would expect from the Westin chain....... I will not be staying at this hotel again.

Visited Tianjin for our Grandsons wedding & thoroughly enjoyed the experience..... The Head Waiter Jason was amazing, he was helpful, pleasant & efficient.... all the staff followed his lead & made our stay so enjoyable.

Nice cosy hotel but it's a bit old and dated

Service was excellent but overall experience was not up to expectations. Room is a bit old and most importantly the room service is a mess. They don't even have one glass of white wine to serve. Steak was served without providing mustard and proper cutleries.

Nice hotel close to city center

Wonderful service. Westin is a little outdated compared to the other hotels around the world. However, very comfortable and friendly staff.

Beds were incredibly soft. Breakfast buffet was huge, multi-national, and delicious! Pool was beautiful and the exercise room was spacious and well equipped. The shower didn't drain and water wound up all over the bathroom floor. Staff were very responsive and came right up to clear the drain and bring all new towels.

I arrived at about 2:45 pm at the hotel to check in. Was told that the room was not ready and to return in an hour to collect the card key. I returned two hours later and the room was still not ready. It took another 20 minutes of waiting for the card keys to be issued to me. The toilet in the lobby was not kept clean. The floor area around the urinals were always wet. The lobby restaurant's service was almost non-existent. The waiters were not attentive and there was inadequate staff. The placement of the bowls and eating utensils were bad - not placed anywhere near the food. The wifi connection speed was extremely slow.

Good value for money

Very nice hotel, at a good price. The rooms have a great view with full length windows. The staff were helpful with limited English. Fairly convenient location in the business centre, 5 minutes walk from the riverside or shopping areas.

Great Location

I have stayed at the Tianjin Westin a number of times during business travels. The front desk service is always excellent and the rooms clean and comfortable. The gym is excellent and bring your bathing suit... the indoor pool is beautiful and the water is kept in the high 80s (PH levels and water temp are updated daily and posted on the wall). There are a few interesting restaurants and a Starbucks close by as well. Great location.

Aged five star hotel

This is our third time staying here and the hotel is getting an aged feel. But the price is reflecting its condition and we are ok with it.

Great Stay at the center of the city

This hotel locates at the center of Tianjin, next to great sites for shopping, sight seeing and good food. Public transportation also is convenient. Room is clean and comfortable. Highly recommended.

Is this a Westin Hotel?

We have stayed at Westin Hotels in other cities in China with good experience, but this time obviously we made a mistake at selecting the right hotel in Tianjing. Arriving at 1:30pm and the room was not ready, the front desk girl told us it will be ready in 50 minutes. After 50 minutes, the room was still not ready. I had to check with them twice till finally they had a room for us. The condition and cleaness of the room was bad for a Westin hotel, I found hairs on the bath room floor and the toilet paper wasn't replaced. I called to ask for some toilet paper, a guy came without hotel uniform, knocked the door loudly and inpatiently with yelling some Chinese words. The taxi drivers around the hotel were terrible, my husband caught a taxi less than one mile away from the hotel and asking the driver to take him back to the hotel, the driver told him he didn't know where the hotel is. We checked out early next morning for our flight to Tokyo, only one girl working at the front desk, no bell man. We asked her if she can Call a taxi for us and she replied we have to do it by our own. It was 5:20 in the morning, we caught a taxi passing the street in front of the hotel, I knew the taxi charge from this hotel to the airport should be aroud 50 RMB, however the taxidriver charged us 94 .

That's awful!!!

It's the worst experience I've ever had of staying at a so-called five stars hotel. I didn't even think it's a real Westin at the very beginning. I couldn't tell the guy standing at front door is from security or concierge. He's laid back, no service, not presentable and not in a professional way of talking to customers at all. Seemed he had never been trained up. During check-in, my shoes were unbelievably firmly stuck to the floor by very sticky purée or something spilled on the ground and no one noticed it till I voiced out. The most interesting part is 2 receptionists still standing behind the front desk even they heard my loud complaint that something disgusting on the floor bothering me SEVERAL times and I finally invited one of them to come out to look at it. Extremely hard for taxi driver to find and drop you off at the front door , very mess outside. It's a bad idea to choose this one to stay.

Near to food area and a nice craft beer joint

The room was good, bed was comfortable and many Resturant and pub around this area.

Conveniently located to Subway station, tourist places and malls. Great layout and space. Love the bed; it's one of the most comfortable beds in China. No free Wifi in the room though.

Westin hotel in Tianjin

The hotel is very nicely located, room is clean and neatly made. The only issue is the space in front of the hotel, always full of cars, very hard to get into the hotel parking garage.

HOTEL IN TIANJIN

EXCELLENT HOTEL, FIRST CLASS

The breakfast is great. The location isn't bad. We stayed in a suite and I highly recommend it. At a minimum, do a club room. The club lounge isn't the best I have stayed in, but it is fine. Definitely a must whenever you stay in China

City getaway

The hotel is beautiful and feels as you would expect a Westin to. The staff did not speak very good English and were not overly helpful or attentive. Getting transport from the hotel can be difficult.

Exellent hotel

This is one of the nicer hotels I stay in. I can't find anything wrong to report. For me, the location is perfect since my vendor's office is in the building next door. Otherwise, if you are looking for nightlife, I don't know if there is any close by.

It's a OK reasonably clean hotel, but it's over rated as a 5 stars. I wonder is there a system to rate hotels in China?

Mold and Mold

This hotel has a very serious mold problem, that the staff pretends it does not exist. Carpets are old and need to be replaced.

Westin Tianjin - MUST READ REVIEW!

We started out with a mixed experience at the Tianjin Westin, we had some issues at the beginning of our stay hwoever after we alerted management, they made evey possible effort to ensure we completely taken care of. Our concerns were first handled by the rooms manager and then when we converyed our concrns the hotel Manager Kanbur Lee personally intervened and made completley sure every single one of our concerns were addressed. In fact they went above and beyond in every measure to ensure we were satisfied. Truly the manager considers this hotel his home as he lives there and his personaification of customer service and making sure customers are exceptionally happy is truly the mantra of the Westin Tianjin. My wife and I have stayed at five star resorts all over the world including at fairmonts, the Peninsula chain, on first class on the Queen Mary 2 and before we arrived at the westin Tianjin we were staying in the Penthouse suite at the Langham Place in Hongkong, yet the service provided by Kanbur and his team and how genuine they were in making sure our issues were resolved and taken care of above and beyond what we could have possibly expected set a new level of customer service experience for us. We will never forget the kindness and generosity shown to us by the Westin Tianjin. I must recommend this hotel to any traveler who wants to stay at a first class hotel who stands behind their product in every way. The way they took care of us wil never be forgotten.

Fantastic Hotel in a central location

The hotel is a premium luxury hotel, and while you can certainly find a cheaper hotel to stay at in Tianjin, paying $100 a night for a room at the Westin is a steal. The lobby was enormous and grandiose upon entering. The hotel staff speaks perfect English. The rooms were clean, modern, and very comfortable. I would recommend staying here whether on a business trip or for pleasure, if you find yourself in Tianjin.

Excellent Hotel

Top quality hotel - 5 star all around - reasonable priced with excellent service. Located in center of town, within walking distant from a lot of restaurant. Taxi service to shopping centers are well priced. Rooms are clean and in top condition. Much better that in 5 stars North American hotels

Lovely hotel but terrible check-in experience.

Despite the terrible check-in experience, I want to be fair. It is a nice new hotel which has been open for about one year. Rooms were very good - nicely furnished and spacious. They said that we were upgraded, but in fact we had paid for that class of rooms. We ate dinner there the first night at the Italian restaurant - usualy Italian food is a bit risky in China. The restaurant was almost empty which is never a good sign. The service was very slow, but when the food came it was well worth the wait. Probably the best Italian meal we have ever had in China. Breakfast buffet was OK - very expensive and not much of a selection. We had a drink in the lounge bar in the lobby, but retreated because it was very cold and drafty because of its location in front of the main revolving doors. We were able to get a great deal on this hotel through Expedia, and at that price I would stay there again - if the Hyatt is about the same price, choose that instead.

Very comfortable hotel with good service.

A brand new hotel with a western quality. big comfortable rooms. Breakfast is very impressive and the Italian restaurant had a high quality standard. Internet service charges seems to be something every hotel hit you with. You should expect of a 5 star hotel to have a complementary service. Except for this I can't fail the hotel.

Hotel location was ok. The reception staff was very slow, but that happens very often in China. The restaurant's evening buffet and breakfast catered well for the Asian guests, but was really not for my Northern European taste. Also the ingredients didn't seem that fresh and there were not enough options for vegetarian diet. My room carpet got wet after taking a bath, and I don't even know how it is possible because there is a wall in between. The carpet looked damaged. The spa in the hotel was lovely, though expensive.

这是一间非常温馨的酒店，让人的身心都能得到休养和恢复，我还会再次选择它。

初めてこのホテルに泊まりました。遅着だったので、すぐ食事をしたかったのですが、どこにどんなレストランがあるのかわからず、ホテル前のコンビニで、カップラーメンとビールを買って、部屋で済ませました。部案内のおかげで、安上がりで済みました。

출장으로 2박을 묵었습니다. 전반적인 시설이 오래된 호텔이나, 관리상태가 썩 나쁘지 않고, 침구류등은 깨끗하고 편안합니다. 다만, 카페트냄새가 자꾸 올라와 거슬리는 점과, 에어컨디셔너의 온도조절기능이 안되는 부분이 아쉽습니다. 에어컨의 성능은 너무 좋아서, 추울 정도라 문제였습니다. 1층 라운지식당의 종업원들은 훈련이 아예 안되어 있는듯, 뭐라 말하면 대답도 없고, 잘 오지도 않습니다. 기본적인 영어는 아예 안되고, 중국어로 말해도 잘 이해하지 못하는 것을 보면, 업무에 대한 교육이 아예 안되어 있는 것 같아서, THE Westin의 서비스를 기대하기란 어렵습니다. 하지만, 영어가 되는 직원들은 아주 친절하고, 응대를 잘 하니, 영어할 수 있는 직원을 찾아서 필요한 것을 요구하는 것이 좋은 방법입니다. 5층 헬스클럽은 관리상태가 굿입니다. 호텔위치는 시내 아주 편리한 위치이며, 근처에 전철 1호선역 (잉코우다오)이 있어서 천진서부역으로 갈 시에 아주 편리한 위치 입니다.

텐진 출장 방문 시 애용하는 호텔입니다. 주변 호텔에 비해 가격은 좀 있는 편이지만 그만큼 위치/호텔 컨디션은 너무 만족합니다. 다음에도 이용할 예정입니다.

Decent accommodation

Quite spacious and well equipped. The sink area is big and therefore is good for ladies who needa do makeup everyday. For those daily necessities, they should provide more items like qtips etc. The location is pretty convenient and nearby area is really good for morning walk.
