Hotel is in desperate need of an upgrade. Rooms are shabby with lights in the ceiling hanging out, furniture tacky and cheap which makes the place feel old ans tired. Disappointed.
Had a great night celebrating a birthday. All staff were friendly and welcoming. Great location. Clean and comfortable. Plenty of amenities for all 8 guests in the room.
Value for money. Great room and staff very helpful and friendly
Fantastic hotel.
An absolutely fantastic stay at this hotel. The decor was exquisite. The rooms were very tasteful and were very big and huge very luxury. Me and my family had a wonderful stay . Customer service was brilliant. It was lovely and clean and luxurious. Would definitely recommend and we look forward to staying again there in March when we return.
Bar was lovely , and staff were excellent, really friendly and helpful! Room was tired, tape on windows, one bit of the window was actually boarded up. Lots of marks over walls, bath tub all chipped
Mixed bag
Good stuff..staff,cleanliness, size of room, facilites. Not so good stuff..signs of age around hotel, our room had an automatic light in bathroom but it stayed on for 20 mins each time lighting up the bedroom ,not great if you are visiting the loo in the early hours!
It was a fantastic stay will be back again
Poor service
Hotel itself is dated.. rooms are big but dirty.. we were on a family night to Liverpool.. hotel is perfectly positioned in Liverpool..£15 to park which is something you get used to these days.. our TV kept freezing and as you can imagine with the family is quite important so we mentioned it at Reception.. they sent someone within half an hour and he gave some half arsed excuse that he couldn’t do it as his manager was putting pressure on him for something else so that was it.. kids were back on the iPad with the very limited WiFi which the hotel has too.. kept kicking us out and had to keep logging back in.. hotel not interested at all..Staff in Reception were in fight or flight mode .. must be constantly putting fires out..
Excellent experience! Staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. Room was big and clean. Very well priced for the location and overall experience.
Pre flight stop over
Lovely hotel and amazing staff with a great location only downside of it was the water to our room was very lukewarm so the shower I had was cold
Great room and staff were friendly Only problem was very noisy as people running around corridors early hours banging doirs
Value for money
Clean comfortable rooms. Good restaurant and bar area.
Great hotel and very big rooms
Very shabby hotel
Very tatty and dated room. Dusty and cleaning not up to standard. Wooden floors all chipped and doors not painted at bottom.Windowsill was dirty and stained and hallway carpets badly stained. Lift was dirty also. Couldnt sleep due to nouse from room above. Food not bad and the breakfast waitress was lovely.
Perfect location
Ive stayed at Shankleys for year's This time was for my daughter's hen party. The rooms are large warm and comfy . The staff excellent. And close to everything
Lovely hotel great stay and will be. Back
Happy
Really happy with the room, no issues.
Great staff
Very friendly staff, slightly tattered in places but overall a good stay
Ok
Stay was ok but the parking was difficult and only 15 minutes to pay for parking but no signal as underground and when got signal the app or webpage didn’t work. Rooms are okay but the double bed was just two single beds put together so wasn’t very comfy and falsely advertised in my opinion. Rooms are nice but need updating the sink was damaged bath was dirty and tv remote kept constantly not work aswell as the charger ports.
Muy bien la ubicación es súper céntrico, tenía algunos temas de limpieza en las sábanas pero en general bien
Excellent, friendly staff super big rooms clean and great location
Stayed here before but the room we were given this time was poor in comparison. The flooring was uneven and the tiling in the bathroom was dirty. The hot water wasn’t very hot. The whole room was looking very old and in need of updating. Considering it was a luxury room it wasn’t very luxurious
Fantastic hotel for our big family group of 6
Rooms are really tired, stairwells terrible. However restaurant staff and food was excellent.
Disappointed
We have stayed at the shakly numerous times and always been amazing. However this time not. The staff were brilliant. However our room was very cold and worn. The door struggled to shut . The bath leaked all over the floor . The tv kept freezing. No were ti plug the kettle in apart ftom putting it on the gloor for the socket.
Fabulous
Fantastic room and terrific friendly service from all stafff Little tired in places but work being carried out to improve Very quirky and great value
Rooms are very dated. Scratched and worn. Air conditioning didn't work, contacted reception on 3 occasions, finally someone came to see for themselves that the room was stifling, told me they would find fans but came back to the room to move us to a different room. Getting moved at 12am with 6 children wasn't great. Told reception twice about broken glass by the lifts, again with moving children with alot of baggage whilst dodging broken glass wasnt great. The rrom i had originally had a kitchen area with a fridge, new room didnt have any facilities so more trips down to reception to ask for food and drink to be stored in a refrigerator. Overall stay wasnt great and wouldn't stay again.
Great hotel, comfortable with good food! Difficult to get to if you don’t know the city
The staff were great and the hotel Brilliant
The staff were lovely and professional. From the outside the building is striking. The foyer is atmospheric. But! The corridors and the rooms show a great deal of wear and tear. The room I stayed in, was in great need of a refurbishment.
Very noisy neighbours, no late check out options without charge. Customer service could be better
Hotel is lovely great location. Rooms could really do with improvement had a room for 2 adults very small. Overall safe was very good.
Would stay again but in a more premium room.
The gentleman at the front desk was extrenely helpful - deserves payrise. The building itself was nice, but felt cheaply made and had costing corners cut. Our room was a double room. Bath took atleaste half an hour to fill - wasnt very hot either. Middle light makes an annoying buzzing sound. TV wouldnt work as it should - kept freezing every 2 minutes Double bed was just 2 singles put together - 1 mattress was higher than the other - couldn't sleep properly and was very uncomfortable. Room not very practicle - had to make hot drink with kettle on floor as there was no table/plug.
Great place for a central location stay to visit the city with friends.
Hotel was lovely inside but a bit disappointed in the luxury room having to clean a jetted bath and then again get the cleaner to do it for second time. When u pay for luxury you expect luxury. The food was amazing however in the restaurant. Staff were friendly and decor really nice just a bit disappointed as I say about the room
Having seen very mixed reviews of the rooms I opted for a studio room for 4 people as these seemed to have a lot of positive feedback. It was smart and very spacious with a separate kitchenette/bar area which was well equipped. The room was configured as 4 separate beds for us as requested in advance. The location is easy walking from Lime St station, the cavern quarter and docks but relatively peaceful at night. We ate in the restaurant one night and the food was good. One of the big positives was how friendly and welcoming all the staff were - they couldn’t have been more helpful. The nature of the hotel is that it caters to large parties so inevitably there is an element of disturbance in the night as revellers return and party their way back down the corridors but this was short lived. It’s also worth noting the wifi was a bit hit and miss if this is important to you. Would stay again and request the same room type.
Great room..although not quite as described! Room on different levels, not 3 doubles in one space. Lack of mirrors to get ready in for 5 people. Loved hotel though and nice suprise on room allocated. Very central - perfect licstion
Beatles trip to Liverpool
My daughter and I stayed at the Shankly hotel one night and loved it. The room and bathroom were very spacious and comfortable. There was a tea kettle with plenty of coffee and tea. The staff were friendly and helpful and the hotel decor was beautiful. Loved seeing all the Shankley memorabilia!
Very nice staff and very friendly
Staff very friendly but overall hotel and rooms bit run down.
Really well located hotel and staff very helpful throughout the stay.
On average the hotel is okay for the price for inner city central hotel. On arrival the downstairs facilities, lobby and bar are nice but overall the hotel is slight outdated. The corridor carpets are dirty and unwelcoming once in the room greeted with awful damp smell and the rooms was freezing…to the point we went out to buy air fresher. On review seems there was leak in the bedroom as carpet was wet. Room was huge and beds were comfy but needs a freshen up overall wouldn’t be in rush to return
Fab hotel, will definitely return
Brilliant
Excellent
Beautiful and luxurious hotel, friendly staff, very clean. Only negative comment is that there wasn’t a hook to hang my towel after my shower. Overall great experience.
Lovely check in staff, fun rooms, great location
Near city centre.
Not a good visit this time
Check in was supposed to be 3pm but we had to wait half an hour to check In because the cleaners were still cleaning the room. If it states 3pm check in then the room should be ready by that time. Also they were not clear with the room number. Just handed us keys and did not give us a card with the number of the room. We had to come back down to ask for the room Number.
We stayed here 5 times with no problems?? But on this stay there was a party above us which was very loud from 5 o’clock till 3:30am we had to phone reception twice to resolve this but they still had music on and very loud,, the staff wanted to move us at 1am ? We refused, we will never stay here again,,
Like sleeping on motaway very noisy does bang from 5 am would not recommend more a party hotel would be stated when booking
Overall pleasant. We did not think the breakfast was very good, especially what you charged for it.
The reception is lovely ;the accessibility room was in bad need of paint and the wardrobe had chunks of wood out of it. The floor had a dip in the middle and the shower was so dangerous as it had no surround or slip mats.the to is not even on a wall in front of you while in bed.the furniture is all chipped and scraped.the light would not work in the bathroom either.the door handles and window ledge are a disgrace.i would never stay here again.
Beautiful rooms with unique touches throughout. Kids absolutely loved it from the reception area through to the hot tubs in the rooms. Reception staff were so helpful and chatty. Great location too!
2 night stay for a special occasion..disappointed with the room we were allocated, a decent enough room but a bit shabby and not too clean hence we did not use the bath during our stay. For the price we paid we thought it could have been improved greatly i.e better bed linen, decor felt very dark and dingy ( and noisy people in the next room who came in very late and had music on at 6am the following morning!) needs to be addressed for the comfort of ALL paying guests. However, on the plus side, all the staff we encountered were very friendly and most obliging ( big thanks to Chris serving breakfast who couldn’t do enough for us ) This hotel is in a great position for walking distance to the railway station, the Cavern Quarter and Met Quarter it just needs to be smartened up in the guest rooms and I’m sure then that it will attract much more in the way of clientele.
Very Tired Hotel
Overall a very nice hotel with friendly staff. Although hotel was very tired and in need of refurbishment. Dining area leather seating was badly ripped and worn. Flooring in our room was very worn and some planks were loose proving dangerous. No room telephone to contact reception. Rooftop bar was not serving food as advertised. Aircon in room was not working as expected. Partime hours in carpark so cannot be entered in the evening.
Horrible experience, room not fit for purpose, stinking, dirt everywhere bathroom the worst, bath broke not surprising, TV didn't work, window sills filthy furniture broke headboard ripped,we lasted about 30minutes at this delapadated place, and when I went to ask to be moved room's blatantly and rudely refused, staff ignorant and rude, done nothing to try help situation, I asked for my money back as room wasn't fit for purpose, and they argonantly refused, flew over here as birthday present for my wife,£270 for this stay in that placel, and was left to wonder around Liverpool city centre looking another hotel, also guy on desk Kai think he was a guy jeered and cheered us off, please avoid this please don't be fooled by picture's, don't think it's been touched cleaned even in year's,also drinks menu was terrible as we waited on Room,my wife ended with nothing to drink after asking young girl behind bar for about 20 different drinks, even soft drinks, also my wife got bite's on her from that room, place is walking,so as i said previous don't be fooled by photos from when it must have been built, don't think a duster has even been put near it,since it was build, me and my wife aren't fussy but that place took it completely to another level, I'll be telling everyone I possibly can stay well clear, John mcmullan.
Its was an amazing experience Definitely back again with my girls x
Perfect
Absolutely brilliant one of the best hotels I’ve stayed in
Several messages to hotel to make sure 4 single beds were in place for 4 adults and they wasnt
Excellent place for party of people
Very good hotel
Parking is a nightmare
You pay for what you get. Loud stag hen party groups, rooms with jacuzzis but no hot water, booming electro club music over the road. Great hotel to nurse a hangover, not for a quiet leisure stay. You have been warned!
Great location for food and bars. Walkable to center of city. Hotel staff is awesome, but hotel is a bit outdated. Would stay again however.
Lovely stay as always
Would definitely stay here again we loved it !!
Beautiful hotel. The staff were amazing and couldn’t have been more helpful. If you are lucky enough to stay while the sun is shining, definitely go and enjoy the roof top terrace. I would definitely stay again.
Visit ok
Room ok, kettle provided but no table near plugs to put it on as cable too short for floor use so bass to put it on a chair. Also no one available for inputting bags until room available so queue was there
I despise Liverpool FC with a passion, however staying at the Shankly was a fantastic experience. Great staff, slightly dated facilities (in places) truly fantastic food and a very warm welcome made it all in all a five star stay.
The Shankly Hotel is an amazing place to stay in Liverpool ,great positioning from station, nightlfe, shopping. The rooms are the biggest i have ever stayed in! Decorated so beautifully and the staff were fantastic, stayed as a wedding party and it did not dissapoint. This Hotel gets very busy with groups probably not a good choice if you are looking for a quiet getaway.
Great for one night
No air conditioning, windows didn’t open.
Great stay
Hotel really quirky and our room and bathroom really spacious but the flush didn’t work :( so that was disappointing as the staff would have already known
The hotel was generally tired and dirty. The menu in the restaurant was very limited.
Not as fancy as you think it is, decor is stunning
At first glance it was stunning room very fancy looking, but once settled there was marks on wallpaper, floor boards had previous water damage, one floor board was broken and slid back and fourth could of easy jammed toe on that, grouting in bathroom unfinished, did not sleep good pillows were flat lumpy old overused pillows second night the same but noise from guests across hall was irritating loud and inconsiderate of others, hotel staff sorted it asap tho, i phoned up 24 hours before coming asking for pink room because it was my daughters birthday they said yes and said it was brand new renovated room. But no got red battered room.. i would probably stay there again if i took my own pillow... mattress was superb really comfy.. couldnt get room to cool down last night maybe that was me not understanding AC.. found parking super easy under hotel that was a major plus plenty of spaces left. We had a nosey in a few different rooms staff was very willing to show them off they were all stunning to look at.
Outdated, almost retro, hotel. Great location. The room was large with 4 bathtubs! but extremely dusty and the furnishings were heavily worn, soiled, and needed to be replaced.
Beautiful room
The service from the staff was excellent - our room was good but some areas of the hotel are a bit tired. The location was excellent and close to the train station and all the local attractions. Due to the large rooms the hotel is mainly used for hens and stag parties so may have been a bit noisy on Saturday night.
Disappointed and surprised
Check in was rather slow and then to b told the parking would cost £15 per day Wen I thought it said parking provided .. when we then got allocated our room it was on floor 2 on th front of the hotel facing the main roadand the noise was unbearable and kept me awake most of the night .then to discover the bathroom window would not open neither would one of the windows in the bedroom and to discover it was screwed shut.. then went to use the hair dryer which was not working so had to wait half hour for this to b replaced. .I expected this hotel to b in better condition and of higher class as I paid £286 for 2 nights and a extra £30 for breakfast one morning ..rather disappointed and won't b booking again sadly..
Never again
Woken up with bites after a night of thinking things were crawling over my face. Dreadful smell like vomit in the wardrobe. No table to make tea, had to boil the kettle on the floor.
Central area. Lovely staff. Rooms were decorated to a high standard. Would recommend and stay again!
Dissapointing..
we heard good about this hotel. As per its reputation, we had high hopes. However, on arrival there was a bad smell in the car park/lifts. The staff weren’t friendly when checking us in and we were provided with very little information from any of the staff. I like the vibe of the hotel, I can see what it’s trying to achieve but it just tired and outdated, the whole building needed some TLC and renovating. From peeling wallpaper to chipped doorframes, it was underwhelming to say the least - especially given the price we paid for a one night stay. When we arrived to our room, the speakers did not work, the tv would not connect, the toilet would not flush and the room was just just dull and disappointing. The laminate floor was chipped and falling apart & there were holes in the wall -nothing looked clean and it basically looked as though it was falling apart. Given it’s reputation, our stay was disappointing to say the least and I couldn’t wait to leave in the morning, I had a terrible night sleep due to how noisy the room was and the bed was uncomfortable. Was promised x2 double beds but it was just 4 singles pushed together. Like the vibe but overall poor value for money & very disappointing.
Nice hotel, service could be better!
Good room, reception staff not over helpful. When asked for any first aid kits (needed plasters) we were told “I’ll not charge you for them.” This made the request for plaster feel like we were being an inconvenience. During turn down service we were left with dirty cups and mugs with no coffee or milk replenishment and had to go to reception to get these. Staff in the restaurant at breakfast were very cheery and helpful, couldn’t fault them.
Lovely decor Walk in shower would be preferable Comfortable beds Room very spacious and quiet surroundings
Lovely hotel
Lovely clean hotel. Central location
This is the most perfect and beautiful hotel. Definitely a must for any Liverpool fan. The Lobby, restaurant and room decor is outstanding and so intriguing. Staff are fantastic and very friendly. Wasn't the first time Ive stayed and certainly wont be the last. It's a lovely experience in itself.
Don’t know where to start. We knew it was a hen party hotel so didn’t expect 5 star, but the room was advertised as ‘luxury’ and it couldn’t have been further from what we were given. If I start with the staff, I’ve never had such a terrible first impression. The girl who checked us in was so rude and unhelpful. I always see these reviews and think people possibly exaggerate but it was THAT BAD! I asked how to pay for the parking and without saying anything she pointed to a QR code (the car park is Parking Eye) The corridors are filthy, really stained carpets, grubby and smell of rubbish. The laminate flooring outside our room was broken, holes in the floor. Most of the furniture in the room was fit for the tip. The windows were so dirty you couldn’t see much out of them! If you’re 18 and want a crash pad for a night out in Liverpool you’ll probably love it. Otherwise give it a wide berth. Sorry Shankly, probably the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in!
.
Everything was as expected
Definitely not quiet, geared up for group bookings , didn’t hear anything late or early morning so good nights sleep.
Stayover for Anfield concert
Random alarm went off at approx 0600 then went back off. No shelf in bathroon near sink for toiletaries / toothbrush etc. - annoying
Room was dirty very outdated bed was two single push together. Bath tub was minty overall very disappointed
Beautiful but shabby
Hotel very pretty in the lobby and the room was nice but very shabby. And the room was also boiling hot, window wouldn’t open and reception refused to unlock it. The air conditioning didn’t appear to be working just made a loud noise One gentleman said he would get us a fan but then a woman told him he can’t as they don’t give fans out. Bed was comfy but couldn’t sleep due to the heat. Reception staff on arrival weren’t very friendly and didn’t appear to know how to smile also needed photo ID which wasn’t mentioned in the booking. Luckily I had my work ID on me. On check out the staff where much nicer.
Fabulous spacious room, clean and beautifully presented, a short break with friends, would definitely use again
Parking underneath hotel was very handy. Road noise was frustrating
Friends trip
Booking stated 3 double beds however room was one double, a small double which needed climbing up a ladder and two singles down a set of stairs. Rooms could do with a bit of TLC, some of the furniture looks a bit worn. Room was a ‘deluxe’ but would t have classed it as that. Breakfast was lovely, and staff very nice and helpful. Rooftop bar was very nice to sit and have an afternoon drink.
Such a fantastic stay, the location, staff, decor of the hotel. Would recommend staying here
Liverpool stay for a gig
Staff at breakfast were lovely and welcoming.overall the stay was very good.woukd recommend
We couldn’t get a early check in so left our bags so suggestion is that we had sign in and just needed to collect our keys so when we came back there was a queue that we had to wait then so my be just a collection point for keys would be good rather than queue again

Basic
Downstairs in the hotel is quite nice but the rooms are very tired. No room service and no bar after 11pm. Also specified twin beds but received a double…..not ideal for 2 male friends!!
