Very good place to stay for a weekend away. The restaurant was lovely and good very good. Only problem is the hotel room was too hot.
Beautiful property, welcoming staff and a really fabulous stay

Lovely to be back
Back again for a wonderful stay. Lovely room, friendly helpful staff and great service. Restaurant very good as always in a beautiful room, and the bar and coffee shop equally good.
Beautiful hotel, 2nd stay here enjoyed everything about our trip to this hotel.
Lovely, comfortable hotel with great staff. We will be staying again.
Excellent hotel staff amazing . Food excellent could not ask for any thing more.
Lovely hotel, beautifully decorated. Rooms comfortable and inviting, good quality breakfast (plentiful) served in the most gorgeous of rooms.
Classy Hotel
Comfy, excellently presented Hotel with lovely Breakfast/ dining room and food
Wonderful staff
We had booked 3 nights and were disappointed to find ourselves in the annex, which is across a main road and in the car park. The room was comfortable but the general building needed maintenance. The bathroom was well appointed but I would have liked a separate shower. The hotel is very well appointed. Without doubt is best feature is it's staff, they are very well trained, always helpful and a delight.
Dissapointed
Very nice hotel but we’re put in the annexe which is across a busy road not great when it had been snowing and freezing cold heating on very low so room was cold. Room not serviced due to short of staff but not informed so when I returned to my room after being out all day a bag left outside the room with water and toilet roll but no clean towels had to cross back to the main hotel to ask for towels no one at the desk again when someone did arrive told them I had no towels no apology went upstairs to store cupboard and gave me four towels which I had to carry out into the street cross the road back to my room! Needless to say no impressed!! i understand they may have had staff shortages but they could easily have text or emailed me as they have all my details to explain which would mean no complaint!!!!
Will not be returning to this hotel
It was a comfortable hotel the bedroom was very nice with lots of extras, what let it down was the food in the restaurant I had a beef dinner on Sunday but was not impressed the beef was so tough it was inedible I mentioned it to the waitress and all she said was sorry . We weren’t impressed with the breakfast both mornings were not very well organised they brought the porridge and the cooked breakfast out at the same time which was not practical , my husband ordered a breakfast sausage muffin which was thrown together and the sausages were so hard he couldn’t eat them. There was six of us all family members we weee all disappointed with the food
Can’t fault anything apart from parking, big hotel small car park. Should give a good discount parking on public car parks for hotel users.
Excellent
Had a very enjoyable stay. Service and food was excellent.Would recommend it .
Rutland all the way
Absolutely fantastic from start to finish cannot tell you how relaxed we felt allstaff friendly and nothing seemed too much, whatever you asked, would recommended to everyone we stopped in a four poster bed and bedroom lovely
Lovely stay
I stayed with my parents for 2 nights, we had 2 rooms. The hotel manager and staff were amazing, the food in the restaurant was average (except Sunday roast that was exceptional). The rooms were very nice all be it slightly worn.
Excellent customer service. Stayed in hotel which was very comfortable. Food good. Rooms lovely and in very close proximity to town
Loved everything about the place. Decorating beautiful. But. Parking was horrific. We parked in city lot. Made 2 trips in heavy rain with lLuggage on check out. . Parked 1st night in hotel lot. So cramped didn’t bother on 2 nd night
Beautiful decor, great breakfast and a La crate dining experience, have to mention Mollie in the dining room, excellent customer service! Very clean, comfy room and bed.
Very enjoyable stay , excellent and recommended.
In the heart of Bakewell, very warm and welcoming, lovely restaurant and rooms
Great stay!
Great hotel and staff lovely room and very tasty breakfast good choice of breakfast to choose
Absolutely amazing! The staff were professional and friendly, made us feel at home, we didn’t want to leave.
It was nice
Excellent hotel. Staff good, food excellent , very good condition. Room lovely. Only ctiticism - needed a bit more healthy choices at breakfast at buffet. The cooked food to order was excellent!
Fantastic hotel in a beautiful part of the country
Fantastic hotel in a beautiful part of the country. Really enjoyed our short visit.
Fantastic stay! We will definitely be back soon
We arrived and was booked in ,our friends were given a room in the main hotel and we were given a room in the court yard accross the road both rooms were brill all you could want for a nice stay very clean and cosy . Breakfast ...WOW outstanding . Staff were outstanding ...would stay here every time. Thank you to all a the Rutland hotel.👍
Excellent hotel. Superb service. Very friendly staff.
Excellent stay right in the middle of town.
Lovely hotel in the heart of Bakewell. All areas of hotel were clean and well maintained. Friendly staff and delicious breakfasts.
Lovely Hotel
The hotel is beautiful, the staff were friendly and location is perfect.
Nice hotel. Friendly staff. Good breakfast.
Our room was TINY. Should be a single not a double.
Absolutely loved staying here! Room was great lovely bathroom. Breakfast was fantastic and also had dinner. Amazing staff. Highly recommend
Excellent hotel
Very friendly and lovely restaurant
Lovely hotel, stayed a few nights, staff super friendly and helpful. Had a meal one night was expecting pub grub stuff, totally wrong, food was top notch. Bar staff very friendly, would recommend staying here.
Small double
Booked a small double with small being the operative word. I'm very petite and struggled in the shower. Nice location and decor but not great value
A beautiful old property, with gorgeous walks around the countryside easily accessible. Clean rooms and very helpful staff.
10/10 again at The Rutland Bakewell
Another great stay at the Rutland, for the first time I was over the road in the non main hotel accommodation. Everything was fab, shower maybe a bit small but I'm 6-6. First class all round and my evening meal and breakfast also 10/10. love this hotel. The beds are always comfortable, nice touch with the beverages, water and biscuits, faultless as always. The food menu is varied and the drinks menu extensive, my guiness was perfect and the cocktails looked fab too
Great stay.
Great stay, comfortable room, helpful staff, great breakfast choice with perfectly cooked soft boiled eggs. Also had dinner twice, good both times. Located conveniently in the town centre. Only negative is the limited hotel parking although we were lucky enough to get in.
Beautiful building, wonderful food
We took four rooms, all of which were very comfortable, and in great condition. My room was very clean. The hotel is situated in the middle of town with easy access to public transport, and the local bars/shops. The food was amazing. All of the food served was great quality, and incredibly tasty, and was amazing value. The staff were the best. Every single team member we met was friendly, welcoming, and helpful. Thank you for duch a great stay.
Beautiful Hotel, Lovely Staff, Great Breakfast, Ideal locatin to visit the Peaks.
Beautiful breakfast and a cute town to walk around in with a nice path down by the river. The room was comfortable, clean, and updated.
As expected
Lovely place to stay, had the vegan breakfast it was really tasty. Staff were very welcoming, the interior was really nice as well.
Highly recommend.
Well situated in such a beautiful town and views. Staff, food and hotel were no issues and more than happy with our stay and will be looking to return. Excellent overall and good value for money
Lovely hotel in the heart of Bakewell
A lovely hotel in the heart of Bakewell. The food in the restaurant was excellent. This is the 2nd time we have stayed and can recommend this hotel.
Lovely hotel right in the centre. Service and food were excellent.
Excellent hotel with friendly staff. In the heart of Bakewell so great location to explore. Set on the roundabout so outside space is limited and can be noisy when road busy, but no problem when your inside. We did have a minor issue with one meal, but this was sorted out immediately and without question which is always a sign of excellent service. Overall an excellent venue at a very reasonable price.
Weekend escape
Lovely hotel in the centre of town. Extremely helpful staff & spotlessly clean. Would definitely stay here again.
The room was small for the price. No view except the carpark, so blind was kept down making it feel claustrophobic. . We were in the building across the road from the main hotel which meant crossing a busy road for breakfast and dinner. Expedia stated it had taken a deposit for the stay - it hadn't, so was confusing when paying the bill. Staff were excellent. Food was good. Beds were comfortable and the room was clean.
In terms of all around experience, this is the best hotel we ever stay in, full stop, bar none. Love it, especially Dave on reception x
Lovely Hotel
The team were lovely and friendly, our room was cosy and spotless. Nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast was excellent good quality ingredients. We would definitely like to return one day Thankyou for looking after us
Great place to stop and explore
Stayed here many times. Great place to stop and potter around the town. Buses to Chatsworth house etc. Parking could have been a problem if we hadn’t got the early. Our room was fine but our friends room was a bit like a dungeon.
Excellent location, loved the room which was in the courtyard annexe across from the hotel. Extensive choice at breakfast.
Reallly cozy boutique style hotel in a perfect location
Will give this hotel a miss next time
We had a superior room but it was just ordinary. Our room was across the street from the hotel. It was a busy street to cross then through a parking area. I was told that there was parking available but it was first come first serve. There were actually less than 10 spaces so we had to pay £8 to park at the local council site which was a 5 minute walk. Not great with bags as when we arrived the parking area also had work vans and was over parked.
Room was exceptional hot, no window that could be opened. Towels old .. all very dated
Bakewell
Lovely hotel . Great walks on doorstep .
Lovely hotel ,staff great highly recommend
No hesitation in staying here again. Excellent food and accommodation.
Great as a base for exploring Bakewell, excellent breakfast and relaxing areas for the evening before dinner. Rooms clean and tidy and tasteful decor. Car park very small. We used bridge street and charged £18 for two night stay, you can come and go as you want. Overall a nice break.
Lovely hotel, good food
Well decorated place. Good food. Central location. Limited parking but I used the one over the bridge and you can pay, but then come and go and return for the night. Was £6 per day.
Nice building, well decorated, clean and tidy. Excellent breakfast, very good choice.
Noisy roads
Lovely room, good breakfast
Great location, excellent staff. Made us feel right at home during our stay.
Staff were wonderful
What a wonderful place to stay! The room was beautiful & comfortable, and breakfast was fabulous. I had called twice & sent 2 emails earlier in the day of my reservation to ask about a late check-in (after 11 PM) due to an unexpected travel hiccup, and while it took a long time for staff to get back to me, the staff were amazingly accommodating & friendly, and my concerns were immediately put to rest; I need not have worried. Will certainly be back the next time I'm in the Peak District!
Good quality service, attentive helpful staff. My only 'do differently', wine list somewhat overpriced.
Great location to stay in Bakewell. Great service and dining options. Only moan would be we stayed in a room on the maIn landing and the noise from the lobby area travels and was disturbing a couple of times
Lovely hotel and great restaurant food
Found it hard to cross the road to get to the main building. Maybe some kind of crossing would help but perhaps that is not possible.
Perfect location and very polite staff
Lovely hotel in perfect position in Bakewell. Fabulous building well maintained and great service from very polite staff.
Overpriced.
Lovely hotel let down by bar and restaurant staff. The female Duty Manager on the bar was rude and ignorant. (The desk team were professional and helpful). It’s a good location with decent parking but overall a little overpriced.
What a gorgeous stay! This is such an iconic hotel on country sports and it did not disappoint - we can’t wait to come back!
Brilliant location in Bakewell
Lovely hotel in a brilliant location in Bakewell. Room nice and clean. Breakfast was very good with very attentive staff
We stayed here for our day trip to Chatsworth House. The staff were incredibly warm and welcoming. We had arrived late in the night and the restaurant was closed but the staff kindly prepared us food which was delicious. The room was clean and the bathtub is great to soak in after a long day of sightseeing!
Stay was fine and the staff friendly ,but the room was cluttered and the en-suite tiny
A lovely old Hotel with quirky decor, centrally situated in the town and convenient for shops and dining. Only slight downside was the limited parking which left you unsure of a space if you arrive late in the afternoon or evening.
Beautiful hotel
Wonderful hotel. Great customer service. Highly recommend dinner in the restaurant. Food was delicious and of good quality. Litttle tip if you stay in Room 402 which is in the court yard opposite the hotel, bring some ear plugs for the road noise.
Lovely room, excellent breakfast. Staff very friendly
Lovely weekend but bar service poor
The welcome and friendliness of staff was good. Hotel was nice, perfect location. Were staying in the courtyard rooms which were well equipped clean but incredibly hot. The restaurant service for dinner and breakfast was great and food very nice. Unfortunately the bar service on our first got was a big let down, very slow and staff did not know how to make cocktails and were prioritising serving drinks for the restaurant over customers waiting at the bar. In fact, we started getting served and the bar tender then walked off to serve some other drinks! Needless to say, we didn’t drink at the bar for our second night. All other aspects of our stay were good so this was the only thing that let the hotel down.
Great hotel, friendly staff
Very nice 2 night stay. Friendly staff and good food. Great for visiting Bakewell.
Great location, serving an excellent breakfast.
We had an amazing stay at the Rutland Arms, it exceeded our expectations in every way. Everything we could have hoped for from a former English coaching Inn, although it felt traditional everything was up to date and clean and well cared for. Can’t wait to return!
Love this place, amazing rooms, excellent staff and truly wonderful food
Very little parking available, could do with fresh fruit available at breakfast otherwise great breakfast, continental and cooked available, great staff, room very hot ,fan was left on which was helpful,at night not much sleep due to heat, could not open window because of traffic noise, Lovely restaurant for evening meal.
Bank Holiday weekend in Bakewell
Great location, parking is a bit limited, although we only had to park on the road on the last night. Room was clean and comfortable, lovely bathroom. Would stay again.
Dog friendly
Amazing staff lovely hotel food amazing Thank you
Good location, with friendly staff, clean room and good food. Biggest drawback is the lack of parking - costing extra and bit of an inconvenience. But a terrific stay for a midweek getaway

Almost excellent - shame about the chef
Overall a great stay however breakfast service could be improved. The staff were friendly and helpful however thought approach of the chef strange. Can we have an omelette - no we don’t do them. Can we just have sliced avocado rather than the mashed - no. I don’t think either of these would really have been too much trouble for a chef but clearly not interested in pleasing the customer .
