Rooms and bedsheets are not clean. And the room smells too bad. There are hairs on the bedsheet. Bathroom is not tidy
Great spot to rest if you’re visiting Sequoia. The place next door is cool, has decent dining options and the staff is helpful and knows the area. It covers the basics, nothing fancy, but everything is clean and in good shape.
I will. Not stay there again.
There is no towel except the one that the previous customer used in the bathroom. You need to ask for it. The water temperature is not stable. You can't take a shower with extremely hot and freezing water. I had a cold because of the thin sheet. This is the most terrible motel I have ever lived in. We booked 2 nights, but we took one night only. Then we had to book another motel for one night. It ruins our trips. Do not book this motel. I will be sorry if you book this motel.
I booked and paid on Expedia; the front desk still charged my card when I checked in. I thought it's just a deposit, but was not refunded after I checked out. I waited many business days, still no refund. I called the hotel many times, no one answered. I also messaged through Expedia twice, no reply.
Was not horrible for an overnight stay, wasn’t the nicest place but for the price it was great! After a long drive it was great for a few hours of sleep to head out the next morning!
Could be cleaner but it had just what I needed. The restaurants near by were really good and there’s a market/deli next door. View was nice, plenty of parking and just 5 minutes from the park entrance. Great location.
The sheets and the blankets were dairy so had to go to the office to get to clean sheets change them.
It hasn’t been cleaned ! Disgusting!
Worst place to stay
Worst place ever to spend a night.. wish i knew before getting there .. called in advance and no one answered nor returned the phone call back .. the room was dirty .. the fridge my god … super dirty i really advice and warn people before booking this inn .. really really terrible service .. thank god we had extra blankets with us .. DISGUSTING place. Don’t even bother coming there
This was a true disappointment. I wouldn’t walk barefoot in the rooms and i showered with flip flops on. The climate control as well as the rest of the place is in dire need of updating. If you’re looking to watch porn, however, the cable service is perfect for you. The best thing about this place was the market and restaurant next door. Delicious food and super friendly staff
Staff at check-in could not be found. Room was incredibly dusty on floor at perimeter at wall. Lightbulb over sink not working. No handle on shower door. Chipped lavatory Formica. Also in my room coffee was missing. There was a fee for using the credit card per room. They were unable to run both rooms so it was charged twice. The fee amounted to about $30. It would be nice to bake the fee into the room or be more transparent about the processing fee. There were what appeared to be smeared human boogers on the wall besides our bed. A nice thorough cleaning and wiping down would probably go a long way. The shower controls were difficult to use. If you turn it too far the shower turns off. Other than that, appliance wise they had a mini fridge , microwave, and hair dryer that were old but functional.
We were booked on The River Inn originally and was informed it is over booked and they got us to Western Holiday Lodge which looks better in appearance and spacious rooms.
We were denied our guaranteed room
I travel with a Service Animal and proof of her certification. I was told after arriving at the hotel, despite the fact I had sent an email telling them I was coming with my Service Animal, that I could not stay. I believe this was illegal. They stated “we don’t take pets” several times. I corrected them in the statement that my Service Animal was a pet.
Lots of junk laying around.
The property needs updated. There is mold in the shower area, linen and towels are old and worn. We had a coffee pot that didn’t have a handle. I would not book this property again
It very near to Sequoia national park entrance. You wake up to see beautiful morning in mountains. It was clean and great.
Nice, cheap place right next to entrance to Sequoia NP. Nice place to rest after a long day of hiking!
We stayed in a standard, and very nice, motel room. It was plenty spacious, had a mini-fridge and coffee maker, and is situated in a beautiful valley with terrific mountain views. The room was very clean and the beds very comfortable. The only negative was the lack of a microwave. One thing to know if you plan to stay there as a base for visiting Sequoia National Park is that the drive up to the park is a climb involving miles of constant switchbacks that take awhile. This is obviously not the fault of the hotel...just something to be aware of. All in all, this was a good place that we'd recommend to others.
Not clean at all. The kitchen window curtain was a towel. Don’t go!
Not bad
It is old . Two windows were nailed down to the frame so they can’t be opened. Shower was dripping, I couldn’t sleep the second night. WiFi very spotty, no reception most of the time I was at my room. Had to go out to get reception. Bed was nice and TV programming was good enough to spend the afternoon watching it.
Great location, but the maintenance is really poor. The place needs quite a bit of TLC. Also the tub is very slippery.
Staff was very nice. We had the cottage. Room was ok. The room was clean but the cleaner was to strong smelling
Bad experience
Upon arrival, there was no running water. We were not able to shower or use the restroom for hours. The hotel did not even reach out to any of us due to the huge inconvenience. Pay the extra money and stay somewhere else.
Easy check-in. Double locks on doors. Convenient to Sequoia Nat'l Park.
Stay somewhere else.
The room was absolutely disgusting and smelled of mold.
Very close to Seqouia National Park
All was exllent
Shelf space are dusty and not empty trash daily
Very close to the park entrance. Staff not very helpfull.
For the price and location, we were satisfied. We made the booking a few hours before as we decided to visit the Trail of the 100 Giants in the Sequoia Forest. The dated one-story motel and our room was pretty much what we expected. The room is large, with a renovated bathroom. The bathroom is on the smaller side, but the shower is very nicely tiled. Coffee pot, microwave, and fridge all worked. Picnic tables and a grill are on the premises and we were lucky to be invited to a feast.
Hotel could use some TLC but it met the basic needs. Restaurant & shop next door was a nice bonus. Breakfast burritos were yummy!
Close to Sequoia national park. There are places to eat nearby. Good to have a fridge, a freezer section would great so ice packs can be used to keep food cool when out.
First, when I made the reservation on Expedia, the price was listed at around $280. However, upon arrival at the hotel, I was informed by the hotel management that there was a mistake and was asked to pay approximately $350. This felt very dishonest on the part of the hotel management. Second, the property itself is old, dirty, and noisy. The bed frame was propped up with a brick for balance, which speaks volumes about the poor condition of the room. Additionally, the AC was extremely loud, making it almost impossible to sleep. For $350 per night, this is the worst hotel I have ever stayed.
The person who checked me was nice and and helpful
Good location.
There were zero positives. There were gnats all over, dead on window sill and flying around room. Shower was dirty and honestly don’t think sheets were changed. Second room they offered was in same exact condition. There was zero effort in cleanliness. I have photos to show for evidence and that there is no exaggeration of complaint.
The room was dirty in general with the carpeting dusty and the room itself was musty. When we went to take showers immediately after checking in and after the day in Sequoia we found that both face towels had hair on them that were different colors, the hand towel for the sink had stains on it and the large towel was threadbare. The room itself was dated, but the cleanliness is what gave this review a 1-star. We felt bad for the girl checking us in because she was surrounded by flies in a small room.
Everything was goods but the bathrooms need urgent renovation.
The king bed unit was filthy and disgusting. Wish I could show you the images I took. Dirty walls and floors, walls that are semi-patched, bathroom has rusty crap everywhere, many (old) windows without window coverings and torn screens, cheap locks on front and back doors, limited TV stations, very limited (dial-up) internet, old love sofa with no support, loose sockets, cobwebs in corners, rust on stovetop, no place to set suitcases on, mismatched paint job and joining of walls and ceiling...must I continue? This is a DUMP!!! Reserved and paid for two nights, stayed one. Left very early.
Property was close to the National Park entrance. That was only positive for this stay. Nothing was like in the pictures. Room was extremely dirty and bathroom was like from horror movies - we refrained from using it. Everything is down to the last. Don’t stay there. It’s not worth the money you spend for it.
All good
Not only was no one at the Inn when we arrived at 310 pm, the Inn looks as though no one has taken care of it in sometime. Both outside and in the rooms were poorly maintained. I had booked the hotel for three nights and left after one. I would not recommend this place for anyone!
shower stall needs updating
Calm
Had a good night
Overall not bad for the price.
Gross, Seedy. Thoroughly disappointed.
Not maintained for even the bare minimum. The young girl checking me in couldn't explain an extra misc charge on my receipt. Lucky reading reviews I was privy to this random extra charge that I couldn't get out of. Overall we stayed only one night and lost the money on the second night, the carpet is disgusting I didn't want to walk barefoot in the room. Beer cans and garbage left outside of the rooms. Just awful, felt so grimy and dirty in the room, especially for the price, as the drive from the hotel back into the park is so long, steep and windy and feels forever it's just not worth it for this exorbitant priced run down motel. Zero on upkeep and cleanliness.
Charged hidden fees ( additional taxes and credit card fees) that were not mentioned and approved when booked Neglected, dirty, not enough room for 2 people around table , only one key for three people. We stayed 2 nights they did not clean after first night.
It was the dirtiest place I ever stayed in. Broken chairs walls filthy. I thought I was going to get bit by bugs. No automatic lights going to unit. Shower leaked all night long. Horrible!!
DO NOT BOOK here The amount you booked thru expedia app is not accepted and they will charge you a different amount on site. I do not understand how is this advertised on the app. Be careful! Do research thoroughly before booking. There is nothing that expedia can do. As for the room/ property, it should be rated as a motel, not an inn. Their check-in time is 3:00 PM. That is literally 3:00 PM. If you come in 30 minutes prior so you can check with the customer service, there is no one in the office. You’ll have to wait in the hot car until someone will come to the office by 3:00 PM. So plan your travel accordingly. The sheet was dirty, bedsheets showed hair underneath the pillow and there were crumbs around. Dust was all over the vanity area.
Close to the area we wan to visit
Very close proximity to park. Great restaurant close by
Room was only marginally clean on arrival and it the 3 days we stayed it was not cleaned even once. Carpet is worn and unpleasant. In general, there is lack of investment in the property, which is a shame because the location is good. The only positive points were the internet speed and hot water in the shower. And of course the proximity to the natural park.
The River Inn in Three Rivers offers a convenient location just outside Sequoia National Park, making it an ideal base for nature lovers. The proximity to a nearby store is a significant plus for grabbing food and essentials without having to travel far. The property is notably quiet, despite its closeness to the highway, allowing for a peaceful night's sleep. Additionally, the air conditioning effectively kept the room at a comfortable temperature, and the fast WiFi was a pleasant surprise. However, the motel undoubtedly shows its age and is in dire need of renovation. Cleanliness was marginal, especially in the bathroom, which detracted from the overall experience. Furthermore, the electrical outlets were worn and struggled to hold plugs securely. The ambience is clearly that of an old motel that feels as though it's merely hanging on, lacking the charm that could come with updates or renovations. Overall, while The River Inn's location and some amenities are commendable, the cleanliness and maintenance issues are significant downsides that travelers should consider.
It was okay, the water never got very hot in the shower.
Ok place on a budget
It was a good place besides it being a little run down looking and a little dirty looking. It is old and could use a little deep cleaning but for the $$ we spent just to sleep for a night and be on our was it was worth it.
No cold water. Outlets so loose that chargers didn't work. Had to ask for bath towels and ice bucket. Overall a dump.
Had to pay more than what was displayed in booking. Use affirm to pay and was refuse to bill affirm had to pay out of pocket. Found ants in the bathroom.
The room was dirty with smelly old sheets
I liked that it was simple, clean and rustic. The man at the office was very friendly and accommodating. I didn't Ike that the places to eat were so far away, however the pizza we had was very good. I noticed though that the prices were too high. Overall, our stay was satisfactory .
Good Location
It is a basic hotel. You have a room, beds and a bathroom. There is a coffee machine, but no cups. Management had to give us a different TV controller. The food at Totem, next door is good.
The toilet Need to be renewed and new linens.
Do not recommend :(
My Experience was lack luster, the cleaning needs more tending to, there was dust, & cobwebs. Our bathroom had tissue in the bin from the previous tenants & it was not cleaned before we got the key. The air conditioning is old & it makes a lot of noise at night, making my family & I lose sleep. For the amount of money that i am paying for, i would expect at least a somewhat decent room & a decent experience. I will not be returning & unfortunately i do not recommend staying here, if you do then lower your expectations.
Our room was beside the stairs outside so if somebody walks up, the wall on our bedside was shaking and you can hear all the noise.
Maintenance of the grounds are poor. Carpets are old and beds too. But not as bad as some reviews I read and comments of bed bugs. We didn’t have any. It was OK for one night.
Only 2 small hand towels in the room, no bath towels at all. The bed was clean, but everything else full of dust. The A/C made a bad smell like burning. I loved the silent morning and night in there, but the room doesn’t worth 200 $ for a night, it is exaggerated! If the owner would take care of this small inn it would be a little corner of paradise with a Mountain View. It is 3 min drive from Sequoia!
Property was filthy. We contacted Expedia. They tried to contact hotel with no luck. We went to the office and no one was around. Sheets and towels filthy. Door would not close securely. Spider webs and bugs (alive and dead) all over room. My family was afraid to stay at this property.
It’s near to the park
I did not get the room I book according to the Website but got the back room that is old, dirty with NO AC in a bed room, no mini blind on 2 Windows in the kitchen area and the Ceiling fan is making loud noise if turning on the bed room light (not able to turn off the ceiling fan at all)
Close to sequoia park.
On the edge of town which is good, it's quiet, and limits the walkable dining options. Overall, it's a place I would stay again.
Proximity to the river.
Very dirty and disgusting .
The room was clean and neat. Not modern day bedding or room but for the price a great deal. If you looking for clean room and a place to sleep this is the ticket. If you like the high end hotel this isn’t for you. I would stay here again.
The room was tidy. However, the rug was very stained. Everything was outdated except the TV. The fridge had rust on the bottom and there were ants on the bathroom counter. The deadbolt did not work well and we felt unsafe. We did not stay there the second night and it was non- refundable. But we just knew we could not stay there again.
The weather was scorching af. It was around 105oF when I was there. When we arrived, we gotta wait for the receptionist 30 minutes. We tried to call the number on the front door twice before the receptionist went out. It was so hot & sunny that tired us down. We were exhausted. The AC in the room was not good. Food leftover of the previous customer was still in the fridge.
We had a nice stay at this property.
Old property
Very old property! We stayed in the house with 2B/2B and kitchen. There were cob webs, carpet was dirty and bath towel were very old and had lot of lint, cheap towels… overall experience was bad. To add to the disappointment We paid a high premium too. It was higher than displayed in hotels.com.
Very dirty and unclean. The property condition is very poor. Look like they did not maintain well. The front desk lady is very unprofessional. I do not recommend it to anybody at all.
Carpet was very dirty and towels were so old and had a weird smell to them. Then we had to drive to a different location in the opposite direction to pick up the key then drive back up to the hotel. This was so inconvenient being hat we were in the sequoia mountains late at night in a two way hwy driving opposite directions. When we originally booked this location because it was only supposed to be 3 miles away from where we were having our event. This turned out to be a 17 mile drive for us in these mountains. We wanted to cancel when we realized we had to drive back up the mountain since the address on the email was not correct but the women at the counter was not nice at all and we just ended up driving back up. This was such an inconvenience. Never again will I stay there.
The room was not clean. Towels were visibly used by someone else, not freshly cleaned. Sheets had stains and bed comforter had holes from cigarettes. It’s a no smoking place and it smells like people smoke inside. The cleanliness is subpar. We had to leave and take an economic loss as they would not refund us. Cannot stay because it’s truly disgusting. Please take this listing off your site. You can google the reviews, I should have done that before coming.
Poor customer service
The wifi was almost non existent. I was in the back room behind the office. It was large, but not clean. The doors locked but could have been blown on and would open. Was staying solo, didnt feel very safe. Maybe the units in the main building were better, not sure. Nothing in the bedroom except the bed. A bedside table for things like a phone and a lamp would be nice. No smoke detector anywhere. Had to try every electrical outlet to find one to plug my charger in, the outlets were so worn the cable kept just falling out of the socket. The sheets were clean but the matress was disgusting. Overall I was there for the activities in the area, not the hotel experience. It was a place to stay for a night. Great location for accessing the park.
The bathroom floor is quite dirty and the flooring itself is very old. Similarly, the towels are old and torn.
The room we stayed in was even dirtier than when I was there maybe 7years ago which means they probably havent cleaned that room in 7years....lol. The carpeting was filthy with dirt and dust behind furniture,TV and along the baseboards. The shower was small and the flooring looked moldy. They did not provide enough kleenex and for two people they gave us 2 large towels and one hand towel and face cloth. I found an old dusty toy and trash behind the bedside table when I looked to make sure we didnt let anything fall behind it. The refridgerator was sticky. The shampoos they provided were preused and some were half full. But people will continue to go there because the location is great. So close to the park entrance. They shouldnt take advantage of us and provide such shoddy accommmodations for the PRICE$$$$
Ceiling fan noisy in bedroom. No paper towels, no sharp knife in kitchen Great location and price, roomy cabin
I’m conflicted in my review because it is the closest option to the entrance of Sequoia National Park, which is why I booked it, and I was aware of the photos so I told myself it was for only one night. However I wish I would have paid for another property, the air con was so loud and old. Sketchy towels, which might have been clean but they looked worn and old. I’d choose something a bit farther away for more $$$ next time.
No towels was probably the biggest pain. Room was fairly clean. Employees were helpful and aided accordingly. It was a quick stay so don’t have many complaints
No staff on site; had to drive 6 miles at night each way to get keys. Room was dirty. No towels.
Location
Had no view of river was not maintained several wall sockets didn't work
Not worth it.
The room was dirty and invested with bugs. The shower had mildew and mold. The fitted sheet did not fit the bed and would constantly pop off. There are notes everywhere notifying all the ways that you will invite additional fees, like leaving the air conditioner on when you are not there. The only benefit is that it is closer to Sequoia national park than the other hotels. For the price, expect much better. It appears that the owners only care about money and not the comfort of guests.
Missing office employee
No employee was available most of the times we needed them, neither was there any way to contact someone. Hot water was brown and spewed sediment. Could not get TV to work. AC was slow to work but froze us during the night despite turning down. Asked with my registration 3 days ahead of time about pets; arrived to find a "no pets" sign; 3 hours after we checked in an email came "no pets".
The location is hard to beat. They were making improvements to rooms while we were there in May '24. Our room was clean and check in was easy. It's an older motel so as long as you know that--it's great!
The room rug was filthy. I killed two flies in the bathroom within minutes of stepping in the room. No room service, trash collected for three days. Pillow cover and bedspread had what appeared to be blood stains. Overly worn towels and wash clothes. Not recommended for friend or foe!
Honestly this has been my worst stay ever on a holiday. The room was stinking, filthy, dead roaches lying in the washroom. Coffee machine was not working property. When we checked in and found these issues in the room ,we went back to the reception but no one was there to address issue untill next day. The front desk person was extremely rude , firstly she charged 15$ extra for a card payment which ideallly she should have informed earlier . Besides on the next day the toilet flush was also not working properly and when we infored her she cane to check and wasn't ready to accept that its filling very slowly. I wouldn't recommend this place evevr. Nothing less than nighmare. Due to holiday seasosn we weren't able to find an altenrative and had to stay in this filthy and shady place. Not worth the price we pay. I request the authorities to look into it and remove this place from expedia booking page untill its improved. This might spoil someone's holiday like mine.
Good for an over night in n out
