Improve how you speak to customers
Pros- good location, good size room with really comfortable bed. Good value for money. Cons- initial room was right above the loudest part of the pub so I asked if there were similar rooms available in a quieter location. The manager - Andy - so rude. Actually stunned by his treatment of me. Made what should have been a simple room swap really heated. I eventually got to change rooms and I'm so glad I did- the second room was ideal. But having Andy speak to me the way he did put me off staying again and I've told local friends my story so they're aware. Such a shame - as a paying customer I expected much better.
No heating and in need of some repairs!
There was no heating in the bar or the rooms during my stay, because apparently the heating was broke. My colleague had stayed an extra night than me, but the heating was not fixed at all during our stay and no explanation or refund, etc was offered. The bar and rooms were cold (although an electric heater was provided in the room) and everyone in the bar was sitting in coats and hats (never witnessed this previously)! The rooms were ok, but some maintenance is required due to a towel rail hanging off the wall, cold tap was loose, toilet seat was very loose, paint flaking off the bathroom ceiling and the TV signal was weak (pixels at times). Shame really as its a nice building, but just seems to of been left behind with no money spent on it! Big thanks to Martha though as she was very helpful and did seem to care.
Sleepless in ashover
The hotel staff was great. The hotel is being badly run would not recommend this hotel needs a lot of upgrading.
great old place to stay
great place, staff lovely, food good, breakfast superb, great beer
Fantastic locals pub with lots of atmosphere, great food. Can't speak highly enough of the village of Ashover, and the surrounding area. The rooms are a little small but its what you expect for a pub of that age. Definately a 5 star stay.
The Old Poets Corner is perfect for a one night stay. It's in a quiet rural location but it was a travel stop for us. Rooms are clean and quiet, named after beers and you get complimentary beer in the room. Bathrooms are dated but clean.
We had a lovely welcome from the staff, the food was excellent and David really looked after us in the mornings. Thank you for a wonderful stay, we would highly recommend staying here.
Ok
Lovely staff and tasty food, nice room although due to being above the pub noisy in the evenings. Mattress too soft and bouncy for my liking. No shop in the lical area
its a titanic pub, so liked the range of real ales, lovely village, everyone so friendly made you feel welcome, and two more pubs only few hundred yards away, crispen and black swan.
Loved it
Themed by titanic brewery. Staff very friendly Room very comfy Surrounding scenery beautiful
Great Little Stay
Quick overnight stay with my wife and dog. Decent food and drink in a pleasant environment. The building is great! Staff were very helpful and friendly. Room was nice and comfortable.
Staff were friendly and made everything easy. Food was great too. Thank you for a lovely stay.
only downfull of the place is when staff played loud music at 2am on the first night
Perfect
Been before great
Amazing one night stay
Amazing stay in a beautiful location despite the weather
😁
Lovely little place, great views even better drinks
Excellent Service and comfort
I was surprised that even above a pub it was so quiet.I had the best nights sleep. Could have had something to do with the excellent ales on service in the pub. Friendly staff and locals.
Terrible. Chef has left and someone else is running the kitchen with limited menu. Not that you are told beforehand. Food lukewarm at best. Then told that the 4 rashers of bacon, 4 Harris sausages and watery scrambled eggs cost £20. Maybe just a bad set of circumstances but won't be risking it again.
The staff and manager were great food was great and busy pub atmosphere due to event bear by rooms do need upgrading but super service overall 👍
A lovely place to stay
We will be returning with some friends after christmas
Ok stay
Could do with being updated from top to bottom but clean
Great rooms above a lovely old pub. Friendly staff.
Charming pub in a very cute village
Very charming hotel and pub with free beer in the room, great food especially the pizza, comfortable beds and friendly service. Located in a very charming town in the peak district. Very very highly recommended.
Short stopover near Chatsworth, the Peak District
We had not stayed at a pub before, but were pleasantly surprised. The room had everything we needed, clean comfortable beds, tea/coffee-making facilities. The bathroom was clean with a welcome hot shower. The breakfast was very good, as was the evening meal we had there. Friendly staff too, willing to answer our questions. We'd have no hesitation booking there again. Please mention that the breakfast is included in the price, as that wasn't clear when we booked.
Free Beer
The hotel is run by the Titanic Brewery. The rather stylish, brewery themed room came with some free beer and, if that's not enough, there are about eight different beers behind the bar at a very reasonable price. Before going to bed, I spent an hour or two having a drink with the locals and the barman and thoroughly enjoyed my stay.
Very Nice
Just a friendly village Inn. Clean, comfortable and nice food.
Lovely Pub in attractive village
It wasn’t the cheapest, but it was a very enjoyable couple of days. The only downside was a rude awakening at 4am, a drunken couple who had forgotten the door code, but the staff were fantastic.
Lovely place to stay
Staff very happy and attentive, brilliant breakfast, room super, great base to visit the surrounding area, will stay again
Comfortable room with an excellent bed. Well I liked it but everyone has different tastes. Friendly staff despite the Social Distancing. Food was good at night time and a large breakfast in the morning started the day right. Good choice of excellent beers. I was only there for one night but would gladly have stayed longer.
Warm welcoming lovely hosts and staff food was excellent made to feel so welcome.
The real ales were great. The stairs going up to the rooms were filthy and smelt. Wouldnt stay again or recomend it for overnight stay. £83 for 1 small room and no breakfast.
Birthday treat
Loved the hotel full of old charm and character food was fabulous staff friendly will definitely return
Pleasant stay
Comfortable room, good beer and food downstairs! Nice base for exploring the southern Peak District
Staff are lovely but sadly...
Staff are lovely but sadly the room we stayed in wasn’t. The T.V didn’t work, the mattresss were very lumpy/you could feel the springs and whenever you ran the Taps the Bathroom 🚽 it spelt horrid and for £80 a night I’d expect some sort of breakfast 🍳. Like I said that was just our room so don’t let this put you off, views were lovely beers and food were on point and Ashover is a lovely village.
Ok overnight stay
The whole place needs a re vamp. The bedrooms and bathrooms need updating. The bar area needs cleaning and decorating. We paid £91. For a room and breakfast. Not worth it. The breakfast had obviously sat under the heat lamps too long as it had dried up.
Lovely quiet location. easy to reach tourist spots
Cannot fault the food & drink. Friendly staff in a typical old-world pub/hotel. Look forward to next time.
Taken for a ride
For£75 we expected some degree of comfort and cleanliness. The staircase had a beautiful carpet but it was filthy. Given all the modern day cleaners available this could easily have been remedied. The room was "quirky" to put it mildly. Bare floorboards and not a rug in sight, no kettle despite the facilities being present and only one chair. No dressing table or similar and a bathroom blind that didn't close properly ...must have given the locals a treat!! On the plus side the beds were comfortable and and food was good. However we did feel we had been over charged.
Relaxed and fun
The room was big enough for two days, but for a longer stay it was to small
