Wonderful vacation
Great location.Love the marina setting & beach.
Old and dated. I will not patronize this property anymore
It was a nice stay. The only thing was there was no laundry facility even though Hotels.com page showed it. It was one of the reasons to choose this hotel. So, it was a disappointment. They said they never had it and told me to report to delete the info. Otherwise it was good stay. Customer service was good.
Great place. Friendly people. Great amenities
Swimming pool is very nice and quiet
The staff and service at this hotel is horrible. This does not include the cleaning staff, they were incredible. But the entitled people at the service desk, restaurants and pool bar. Felt like I had to take care of their needs rather than them caring for ours. Once they started harassing us as we dropped the hotel cards on the counter after the 5th day of them failing/deactivating due to their faulty nature. Didn’t feel like a nice holiday because of the attitude at the hotel. This includes management and senior management that set very strict policies that also limit the ability to enjoy and feel like you’re being treated. So many other nice hotels in Hawaii, stay away from this one!
It was a nice hotel with decent room pricing, disappointed that we could not get wine glasses for the room
I’ll never stay anywhere else. Literally perfect for everything!
Spectacular sunset and awesome views from my lanai
I had a good experience @ The Modern Honolulu. My room had a lanai, great city views, mountain, harbor and ocean views. The best part was the sunset, awesome view from my lanai! The room was clean, the housekeeper and the staff were all nice and friendly. My only complaint was the elevator noise at night. The swooshing noise was annoying.
Great room service from our maid
very pretty
It’s ok
Little older than we hoped. The bed I think was worn out. Lacking springyness. Did not change the sheets for 7 days . Location is good though.
The front desk staff are awesome- Courtney is amazing! The parking staff are great as well! Everyone is so friendly and helpful. It was easy to check in and check out! Hotel is close to Magic Island, easy to get to the Ala Moana Mall and a short Uber ride to the center of Waikiki shopping and restaurants. The activities such as Yoga and Lei making was a bonus! Thank you for making this trip so memorable!
Convent location, very clean, friendly and helpful staff!
What did I like about the property was that all staff was friendly kind and nice what I did not like about the whole property in general is that no matter how much money I spend on my room there was no complimentary breakfast and the breakfast that was there did not work for my 1-year-old and 4-year-old no kids menu so I would have to get up and go to McDonald's which is crazy to me spending all this money you would think they would have a kids menu
Very convenient self paid parking. This is within distance to Waikiki beach, ala moana mall (nice food court here), nice sunset views. We drove to east and northwest, and northeast area of the island, and this hotel is pretty much equally located to all direction. Liked to stay here v much. One point to be noted, that our room sliding window only opened 4 inches or so. Would be better if opened a little more than that.
Excellent service throughout .. manager Yuko was very helpful and was quite accommodating. Overall a great experience!
there are molds in the room specially in the bathroom area
Staff is absolutely amazing. Kind and ready to help at anytime. Very friendly and accommodating. We had a great time. The reason for not giving 5 stars is because hotel is undergoing renovations. Our room was always well supplied in anything we needed and clean. Thank you to all the staff for making our stay enjoyable.
Older property but very nice

Enjoyed the view of the harbor. The bed was really low
Quiet and great location
Very modern
The staff are the best! They were all super nice and helpful - everyone! The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and our view was beautiful. The location was close to everything.
Love love love this hotel so much! I can’t thank them enough for making our trip so wonderful!
The lamp shades had old water spots, no privacy with bathroom (shades separating bathroom from bed), card keys constantly stopped working.
The bed is on the hard side but besides that everything was amazing.
Concierge services are excellent and all staffs are very kind to customers.
Room looks outdated
The staff was amazing, super friendly and helpful 💜
I just returned home from a 5-night stay at the Hilton Vacation Club, The Modern Honolulu and it was amazing! The property is clean, modern, and quiet, and the staff are very helpful. I loved that there are free daily activities, like lei making and hula classes! The hotel is about a 25-minute walk from Waikiki Beach, and a 10-minute walk from the Ala Moana Center, so it's in a good location overall. I would definitely stay here again!
This is not a 4 star hotel. Very disappointed for the price paid.
Nice view
MODERN IS THE BEST. Five stays and cant wait for the next!!
love it here
Central location most places reachable by bus.
Somehow our reservation had some kind of a problem, which was the first thing addressed after a warm greeting from the staff. I'm not sure exactly what the problem was but the way it was handled was far beyond any expectation I had....an upgrade to the penthouse suite! The suite was awesome! Wrap around balcony with excellent views of the ocean and harbor below with access from the bedroom, bathroom and multiple entrances from the living room. The kitchen was a little small (it's a hotel room) but large enough with everything we needed. Parking was a little tricky at first but we quickly became accustomed to it. Sadly we didn't stay long enough to utilize everything it had to offer but we did eat at the bar the first night and the restaurant the next morning and enjoyed both our meals. The pool area is nice, clean and well staffed
There was a fire in the building. I was on the fourth floor and our alarm never came on. I had no clue until I went to sales presentation and they asked how I was since they heard our hotel was evacuated and fire happened. My family and I had no clue this happened. People were outside and why were we not notified. Unsetting.
Was great
Check in was quick and easy; however our room wasn’t ready but was told they would call me as soon as it was available. Almost 3 hours later I checked back and the other person at front desk apologized and asked me to confirm my phone# and email as they didn’t have it and the room had been ready since earlier. A few days later we found a roach in our room. Thankfully nothing else after that. The carpet in our room look old and dirty, shower tiles looked old as well. Pool area was nice but beach is almost 1/4 mile away from actual property. The surrounded Hilton members properties are nicer and have a cute little village.
Easy check-in. Friendly staff. Great location
They gave mi room in front of noisy elevator, and didn’t change. Top floor , lots of nois.
Thanks
I like this place. it was a little cooler when it was independent than now under Hilton management; but the architecture and location are unchanged and both excellent. It's at the quiet end of Waikiki, walkable to everything. The restaurant and bar are very good.
We really enjoyed the hotel we will be back
Everything were good, Just They should adjust the price of breakfast, it is very expensive; price for quality and quantity
Excellent value!
Located by the pier, a short walk to the Mall, the rooms were a decent size but the double beds were too small for adults
Free parking.
Hotel is great. Only in morning truck make noise if you open door. Over all A
Place was clean and close to many activities. Staff was friendly and helpful
Modern
Very nice and relaxing. Pool area was awesome with a bar that served drinks and food poolside.
Great location- though it is loud
The valet guys was excellent
It was not up to HGVC standards. Rooms smalll and beds low to ground and small. Pool was small and no hot tun which I looked forward to. The adult pool section wad a waste of space. The food menu was not diversified enough for a family and over priced for the quailty.
Great location. Enjoyed the pool and view from our room. Staff was friendly.
All staff was friendly and helpful. The two boxed waters per day are helpful and there is a refillable water station as well. My only issue was the bed being to firm and low to the ground.
It wa far enough away from the main part of Waikiki and close to Ala Moana
Nicer than I thought. Property is attached to Hilton Hawaiian Village so shops and dining close by. Hilton is renovating property. So expect some construction. Other than that, enjoyed the stay
Hotel was nice, great location. Room was okay, definitely needs some updating. Carpets need a good cleaning and one of our lampshades was broken and stained. Outlets need updating, as our plugs wouldn’t stay in some of them. Staff was great and very helpful! Great happy hour daily by the pool.
Great location and clean!
great location.
We stayed here 11years ago and it was amazing. Now it doesn’t seems like it’s any special.
We enjoyed our stay. There were a lot of restaurants and shops within walking distance. Parking was very convenient. Our room was very nice and clean. We would stay here again on our next vacation to Hawai’i!
I love how our housekeeper kept our room clean and the view was amazing. I just hated that we consistently had to go down to change our keys since they stopped working.
Staff was quick to respond to my issues. Mainly accommodations, extra towels, coffee, etc.
Liked the area and the cleanliness - found that the hotel rooms were getting dated.
Property was conveniently located with lovely pool/communal areas. The rooms were spacious but we found the beds really unconfortable.
Nice property very clean and they provide 2 bottles of water per room every night of our staying which is very convenient.
Only there for 2 nights and did not spend much time in the hotel so cannot comment on the pool etc although it looked like a lovely place to relax. Bed far too low would be my main comment. A bit tatty the room but otherwise ok.
Great location. Very helpful staff!
The property was beautiful. We swam in the pool which was well maintained. Close to ocean swimming.
Shout out to Zeny and Madonna they’re genuinely helpful and brightens your day with their smile. They are gems in this property. Ledtje family Room# 432
Nice location next to the Waikiki marina
The staff were friendly and helpful, and the property was clean at all times. However it felt a little dated, which seems ironic given the name. The toilet had been repaired and the repair patch came off during my stay, did not affect how it works but I note it as an example of the wear and tear showing in the fixtures. Convenient location and a nice view of the marina, however there is a lot of trash in the marina. They could use a coffee shop or something to grab a quick breakfast to go.
The property looks nice on photos. We had a room next to the elevators because we were traveling with children and wanted to check in 2 hours before normal check in time. The you can hear the elevator noise thru the walls of the room ALL NIGHT LONG! The beds were rock hard and the carpet was dirty on all of the corners. This was a very mediocre Hilton, I would not expect this from the Hilton brand.
Definitely I will come back again
My wife and I went to The Modern for our anniversary. It's beautiful, clean and serene. We will definitely come back. The staff is very nice and helpful as well. The restaurant on-site is great for breakfast, lunch, or dinner when you don't feel like going out.
My go to place in oahu
Overall great experience. I enjoyed staying poolside for a quick weekend getaway
I think its one of the best value for money options you could choose in Waikiki. I was very happy, we paid about $220USD per night for 10 nights. The room is nice and new, the balcony facing the beach has an great view of the Friday night fireworks. The pool is great vibe, different nights have DJ's and Live music. I travel regularly and i couldn't get over the price of parking per night and the fact that no breakfast is included, but that seems to be a very regular thing of most of the hotels in Waikiki. The restaurant in the hotel was an average breakfast, there was a coffee shop over at the next hotel underneath Ilikai that we found on the last few days and that was nice and easy to get too and great coffee. Its a good location away from the center of town but still close enough and easy enough to get to everything.
We've stayed here 10 years ago and loved it. It seemed like an exclusive, hip and vibrant place to be that wasn't like the other hotels nearby. This time around the vibe was a little different not to mention their nightclub spot was turned into a business center of some sort and Chef Morimoto's restaurant is gone. But... overall, it's still in a great location that's central to a lot of spots, it's STILL a beautiful place to stay, rooms are really clean, LOVE LOVE LOVE the shower, I LOVE THE STAFF, they were attentive to all of my requests and I loved our view. Someone in their staff said Hilton would be doing some changes in 2025, when we go back, I hope to see that extremely hip feel again.
staff was very helpful, property was nice and clean, didn’t really run into issues what so ever. mainly was in my room just a resting point since my bf and i were out most of the days we were there. fridge smelled like it wasn’t cleaned but other than that the stay was fine :)
We're happy to saw the cleanliness of the room every time came back after going out somewhere. And the receptionists were also very nice. Thanks a lot !
The Vibe
Great location and comfortable hotel.
Beautiful and clean property and the room had a beautiful view of the harbor! So may complaints about lighting being too dim and beds being to uncomfortable, you can easily ignore these comments. The lightning is dim but not unpleasant and the beds are perfectly comfortable. My only issue is parking is $30 a day even if you are staying there also the parking garage smells like raw sewage. Please note this before you book. If you plan to Uber around the city this is a perfect location and you will have a wonderful stay!
Cleanliness is very big for me and I was not disappointed!
Good, great even, but not excellent
My stay was good. I didn't take advantage of the available amenities, only the free daily waters. Which tasted like the paper cartons they were in. My room was clean & spacious but the bed was too low for my liking. The hotel itself was nice enough but definitely needed new carpet and a coat of fresh paint everywhere. The dingy looking room carpet made eveything else look dingy and the color scheme, cream & white, didn't help. And one thing that bothered me was that the entire week i was there housekeeping never cleaned the floor board behind the desk across from the elevator on the 8th floor. What looked like rodent droppings was there for my entire stay. I purposefully didn't mention it to hotel stAff or housekeeping just to see how long it would take for someone to clean it up. I have pics but for some reason this site won't let me add them.
Room was very clean
Hotel was great, staff was extremely friendly. Will definitely book again.
The staff was attentive, and the amenities met our needs, making our stay comfortable and memorable.
Everything was amazing. Will be coming back! Only issue is using the key card at your hotel room and coming in/out the garage since the card input is tricky but count to 3 and it’ll work every time.
nice and clean. just not easy to find the building entrance or lobby for the first time customer.
Very noisy place to stay
Location,clean and friendly staff
