It wa far enough away from the main part of Waikiki and close to Ala Moana
Nicer than I thought. Property is attached to Hilton Hawaiian Village so shops and dining close by. Hilton is renovating property. So expect some construction. Other than that, enjoyed the stay
Hotel was nice, great location. Room was okay, definitely needs some updating. Carpets need a good cleaning and one of our lampshades was broken and stained. Outlets need updating, as our plugs wouldn’t stay in some of them. Staff was great and very helpful! Great happy hour daily by the pool.
Great location and clean!
great location.
We stayed here 11years ago and it was amazing. Now it doesn’t seems like it’s any special.
We enjoyed our stay. There were a lot of restaurants and shops within walking distance. Parking was very convenient. Our room was very nice and clean. We would stay here again on our next vacation to Hawai’i!
I love how our housekeeper kept our room clean and the view was amazing. I just hated that we consistently had to go down to change our keys since they stopped working.
Staff was quick to respond to my issues. Mainly accommodations, extra towels, coffee, etc.
Liked the area and the cleanliness - found that the hotel rooms were getting dated.
Property was conveniently located with lovely pool/communal areas. The rooms were spacious but we found the beds really unconfortable.
Nice property very clean and they provide 2 bottles of water per room every night of our staying which is very convenient.
Only there for 2 nights and did not spend much time in the hotel so cannot comment on the pool etc although it looked like a lovely place to relax. Bed far too low would be my main comment. A bit tatty the room but otherwise ok.
Great location. Very helpful staff!
The property was beautiful. We swam in the pool which was well maintained. Close to ocean swimming.
Shout out to Zeny and Madonna they’re genuinely helpful and brightens your day with their smile. They are gems in this property. Ledtje family Room# 432
Nice location next to the Waikiki marina
The staff were friendly and helpful, and the property was clean at all times. However it felt a little dated, which seems ironic given the name. The toilet had been repaired and the repair patch came off during my stay, did not affect how it works but I note it as an example of the wear and tear showing in the fixtures. Convenient location and a nice view of the marina, however there is a lot of trash in the marina. They could use a coffee shop or something to grab a quick breakfast to go.
The property looks nice on photos. We had a room next to the elevators because we were traveling with children and wanted to check in 2 hours before normal check in time. The you can hear the elevator noise thru the walls of the room ALL NIGHT LONG! The beds were rock hard and the carpet was dirty on all of the corners. This was a very mediocre Hilton, I would not expect this from the Hilton brand.
Definitely I will come back again
My wife and I went to The Modern for our anniversary. It's beautiful, clean and serene. We will definitely come back. The staff is very nice and helpful as well. The restaurant on-site is great for breakfast, lunch, or dinner when you don't feel like going out.
My go to place in oahu
Overall great experience. I enjoyed staying poolside for a quick weekend getaway
I think its one of the best value for money options you could choose in Waikiki. I was very happy, we paid about $220USD per night for 10 nights. The room is nice and new, the balcony facing the beach has an great view of the Friday night fireworks. The pool is great vibe, different nights have DJ's and Live music. I travel regularly and i couldn't get over the price of parking per night and the fact that no breakfast is included, but that seems to be a very regular thing of most of the hotels in Waikiki. The restaurant in the hotel was an average breakfast, there was a coffee shop over at the next hotel underneath Ilikai that we found on the last few days and that was nice and easy to get too and great coffee. Its a good location away from the center of town but still close enough and easy enough to get to everything.
We've stayed here 10 years ago and loved it. It seemed like an exclusive, hip and vibrant place to be that wasn't like the other hotels nearby. This time around the vibe was a little different not to mention their nightclub spot was turned into a business center of some sort and Chef Morimoto's restaurant is gone. But... overall, it's still in a great location that's central to a lot of spots, it's STILL a beautiful place to stay, rooms are really clean, LOVE LOVE LOVE the shower, I LOVE THE STAFF, they were attentive to all of my requests and I loved our view. Someone in their staff said Hilton would be doing some changes in 2025, when we go back, I hope to see that extremely hip feel again.
staff was very helpful, property was nice and clean, didn’t really run into issues what so ever. mainly was in my room just a resting point since my bf and i were out most of the days we were there. fridge smelled like it wasn’t cleaned but other than that the stay was fine :)
We're happy to saw the cleanliness of the room every time came back after going out somewhere. And the receptionists were also very nice. Thanks a lot !
The Vibe
Great location and comfortable hotel.
Beautiful and clean property and the room had a beautiful view of the harbor! So may complaints about lighting being too dim and beds being to uncomfortable, you can easily ignore these comments. The lightning is dim but not unpleasant and the beds are perfectly comfortable. My only issue is parking is $30 a day even if you are staying there also the parking garage smells like raw sewage. Please note this before you book. If you plan to Uber around the city this is a perfect location and you will have a wonderful stay!
Cleanliness is very big for me and I was not disappointed!
Good, great even, but not excellent
My stay was good. I didn't take advantage of the available amenities, only the free daily waters. Which tasted like the paper cartons they were in. My room was clean & spacious but the bed was too low for my liking. The hotel itself was nice enough but definitely needed new carpet and a coat of fresh paint everywhere. The dingy looking room carpet made eveything else look dingy and the color scheme, cream & white, didn't help. And one thing that bothered me was that the entire week i was there housekeeping never cleaned the floor board behind the desk across from the elevator on the 8th floor. What looked like rodent droppings was there for my entire stay. I purposefully didn't mention it to hotel stAff or housekeeping just to see how long it would take for someone to clean it up. I have pics but for some reason this site won't let me add them.
Room was very clean
Hotel was great, staff was extremely friendly. Will definitely book again.
The staff was attentive, and the amenities met our needs, making our stay comfortable and memorable.
Everything was amazing. Will be coming back! Only issue is using the key card at your hotel room and coming in/out the garage since the card input is tricky but count to 3 and it’ll work every time.
nice and clean. just not easy to find the building entrance or lobby for the first time customer.
Very noisy place to stay
Nice location. Expensive for basic room. Walk one block east to the next resort and get a lot more amenities and beautiful grounds for around the same cost,
Will go back again
It was really good hotel is very clean and near many shops and restaurants
Near a lot of attractions, great for exploring Waikiki.
No luggage cart. No free water. Food service closed
Like: Quiet, straight to the point, pool and bar open until 9pm, gym 24 hours, AC working fine Dislike: Parking structure is narrow, gotta park before sun down too to secure a spot since it’s a smaller garage
Excellent
It was an enjoyable stay and I loved everything about the room, would definitely book here again!
The hotel was cute
It was not crazy busy
The staff were super friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean along with the rest of the hotel
Amazing hotel, great location.
It was hard to find the hotel lobby from the parking lot. There should be more signs with DIRECTIONS.
Our family enjoyed our stay.
Great location!
Close to many other locations.
Perfect location, staff was very accommodating!
Great rooms, service and pool area. While the food and drinks by the pool were delicious, the prices were unreasonably high.
Very convenient to everything and generally good, just a few problems with the key cards was frustrating
Loved staying here. So accessible to the whole area.
The property was too much for it’s age. Parking was difficult. The fish & chips @ the pool burned my tongue, bad. The pool was nice. Check out times some be later, like 2.
The property was clean. Everyone was nice. There was a lot to do around the property. Definitely will stay there again! Aloha and Mahalo!!
The Ala Moana side is very noisy. Otherwise is was nice
I liked the decor and laid back vibe of this hotel.
I loved the cleanliness of the property and the room but the only thing that they took long was we were having an electrical problem with our room and it took around 6 calls to the lobby to finally have some one come and fix the issue. Besides that compared to the other hotels next to it I loved the two pools and the outside bar it has and the food was delicious! I don’t remember her name but the server at the pool bar she was awesome and making sure we were happy with our order and we had drinks so props to her because that something that caught me and my finances eye how hard working she was.
It feels like a boutique Hotel. The only issue for me is the lack of a good restaurant on the property.
I have stayed at The Modern several times. And it never disappoints. I love the location. It is perfect for me. Moreover, they are working hard to reduce their environmental footprint, even offering water in cardboard boxes. Bravo!
Modern 1st Experience
Front desk workers are not the most welcoming nor friendly on the check out. The asian guy that worked the counter stood out the most; he didn’t bother smiling and looked liked he wasn’t happy working in his role or for the Modern in general. It’s these little things that stand out and leave a lasting impression.
Excellent stay and very convenient location (close to both the beach and the mall)!
Customer service and walking distance to the beach and restaurants
I had to get the front desk to open my door eight times because the key did not work. They refuse to give me another room and then when I went to the front desk, they proceeded to yell at me.
I like the property very convenient in everything. I will come back again.
The room was ok.The pool is small. What I like is near to tourist spot.
Nice property would definitely visit again!
Such a great location. Perfect and just enough away from the main action. Thoroughly recommend 🌺🍹
The hotel was great and everything was walking distance. We had an amazing vacation and experience at this hotel… the only problem we had was water leaking in the bathroom while taking a shower which made our bathroom all wet and we had to put all our towels on the floor to dry the floors.
The staff was amazing, the parking was easy, the rooms were very nice, I loved having 2 balconies. The free waters everyday was great. The pool area was beautiful. Lov3d watching Fireworks from the pool deck. The beach access was easy and straight forward.
Wonderful place to stay! Clean, friendly staff, everything you need under one roof. Great location!
Perfect location on the outside of Waikiki. Easily accessible.
I had made two room reservations for July 6-12 since March 2024. However, the hotel staff had trouble finding our reservations when we arrived. After asking me to send the confirmation email I received in March, it took them 20 minutes or more to locate the reservation without apologies. Additionally, the concierge, Mike, was very pushy and tried to sell us unsolicited services.
Very nice place. Accessible to everything.
I liked that the property is in a great location. I didn't like that my room didn't get cleaned everyday.
Very friendly
Rethink staffing and hotel arrangement.
Our stay was definitely not what we thought we were getting into over priced food items restaurant was open for breakfast but you weren’t able to eat dinner in limited amount of water tickets even though we were staying at the resort for over 9 days didn’t offer us a late check out or make us aware of the 10am checkout until housekeeping kicked us out! Don’t recommend staying at this property concierge unhelpful front workers rude.
Excellent service
Love the property and the staff just don’t like that they charge for parking when you’re staying at their hotel.
Great stay, jared was a lot of help on planning our 5day activities. Anyone that books here ask for Jared and he will point you in the right direction
The rooms feels like they are made for only 2 people as there is no room for many items to bring for a week long vacation as well as no proper privacy on the bathroom as part of the walls separating the beds from the bathroom are just wooden blinds. Also, the room had some stains on the lamps and headboards.
Great views and very walkable.
Overall I thought this was a great value and centrally located. Good stuff.
Unhappy w/manager on duty
Trip to Honolulu, HI. We had already paid in advance for our entire stay. But, out of the blue my card on file was charged again for a week stay. No one contacted me. We found out when we tried to place a charge to my card and it was declined. We were so embarrassed b/c we knew how much we had in our account for this trip. The manager on duty offered 50% off on a second meal, and a free meal. Please…a week stay was charged to our card when we had paid that week stay in advance…well over $1800 was charged to my card. To make it even worse, Hilton Vacation Timeshare rep called us into the office to try to sell us a timeshare. We explained what happened. No one did anything other than offered one free meal and 50% off a 2nd meal. 😠
They have a nice facilities but no perks.
The hotel was clean and it was a short walk to the beach. However the lighting was awful, and some days parking was hard to find. Especially for paying $35 a night for parking.
i will definitely recommend this to family and friends. very nice plave and view
Amazing, great room and Great service. Super clean.
Car park capacity could be improved
Great stay and upgraded us to a wonderful room!
Good affordable place to stay. Room was not any great shakes but was clean and having a refrigerator was very convenient. Location is very nice for getting to the mall and the beaches. All hotels charge the hotel fee so cannot really criticize too much for that.
I loved the pool and the Restaurant for breakfast and happy hour
The staff were very kind and welcoming! The room was clean and spacious! I was disappointed that the two rooms we had weren’t joining because one was ready much later than the other but we were still close by. They did clean the carpets in the hall while we were there which obviously has to happen but was mildly inconvenient for a relaxing environment, I know these things must be done though. Overall I would recommend to others.
All staff was friendly and helpful. The two boxed waters per day are helpful and there is a refillable water station as well. My only issue was the bed being to firm and low to the ground.
