The Huntsman at Christmas

Reasonable. Normally i would have said excellent but one or two things were not upto there usual standard . There was music noise from downstairs until late and the room i had was v dark but was attractive ( 13) . The food was ok but mine lacked vegetables and the fishcakes were dry.

It was lovely and warm, both in the room and general areas. The breakfast was very good and in an attractive dining area. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff. The room was large and the bed was comfortable. Lots of welcome extras eg, tissues in the bedroom, a decent hairdryer, products in the bathroom.good lamps and lighting. The duvet was too warm, a top shhet and blankets could have been an option.

Lovely stay.

We took a family room. This was one double and two single beds. The single beds were proper single beds not put ups. Room was lovely and clean. The hotel is at the top of the hill and it was lovely to have a view of the sheep and the moors. Couple of bits to mention. For a family room and family of 4 there was a very small shelf for putting bathroom items on we were also only given 2 large towels. The shower also felt a little wobbly when turning on. We requested extra quilts, always seem to have problems with kids and hard matresses so kids use them to sleep on. Was lovely to have these already on the beds. We had a lovely stay and can recommend the cheese pie from the restaurant.

A great stay in Holmfirth

We stayed for 2 nights mid-week whilst visiting the area. Staff were really friendly and helpful. Room was of a good standard for pub accommodation - comfortable bed, hot shower, good wifi, nice breakfast. We did not eat an evening meal there due to other plans but would have been happy to do so. The Huntsman is a little way out of the town centre so if you are planning to go out in the town centre, you may want to take a taxi in/out (inexpensive and plenty of them, so not a negative issue). We would stay there again when we next visit the area.

Work trip

I stayed as I was working close by for a few days. Lovely hotel.

We stopped over night and found everyone friendly helpful and the accommodation clean and warm everything we needed. There was large function taking place which I was emailed about beforehand to let me know they had moved my room to be a little bit further away from the noise , howeve r we did not retune till midnight so it did not effect us . 10 out of 10 will recommend and stay again

Excellent pub/hotel. Great food & service

The Huntsman Inn is a beautiful property with amazing staff and incredible views. The place was very well maintained and the staff were incredibly wonderful and friendly. It's a shame we only stayed one night and would love to go back here again. The room was cost and warm, the food was good and was definitely worth the trip.

Everything at this Hotel is amazing. I took my wife here for our 49th Anniversary, for a 2 night break and our Honeymoon Suite was fabulous. Great views over the hills. Room was spotless and comfortable. All staff were really helpful, but I must mention, Michael who was here there and everywhere and on hand when you needed him. Food was awesome both breakfast and evening meal. A big shout to Kat at breakfast. This girl is an absolute star, so pleasant and has a very warm welcoming persona which you need when you are dining. An excellent 2 night stay at this beautiful Inn, well worth a visit. You won't be disappointed.

A lovely place to stay, the room was immaculate and I thought the cafetière in the room was a nice addition to the usual instant coffee provided. The evening meal was great too. I'll definitely be staying here again.

Fantastic hotel in a great location. Room was fantastic. Comfortable bed. Only small complaint about the room was the speakers on the TV sounded distorted. Restaurant was brilliant, we both had steak and chips which was 5 star. Breakfast was the same, we both had an English breakfast.

The hotel were excellent, especially since Hotels.com hadnt informed them of our booking! Luckily they had one room left.

Choose your time of year to stay here. Weather could be problematic if not prepared. With the right clothing the area in my opinion is outstandingly beautiful and deserves to be explored. Wear good walking boots. The staff at the Huntsman are superb and offer a warm welcome as much as the Inn offers a warm and inviting interior, good food and a well stocked bar.

Stayed here as a family of 4 in number 15 family room. All the staff were excellent in particular Emma. The breakfast was fantastic and would stay again. definitely stay again

The location was great. The friendly welcome at reception on check-in and check-out. The room was cosy had a wonderful view. Our meal at the restaurant was delicious. The whole stay was just perfect.

Cozy old fashioned

We loved our stay at the Huntsman. It’s a little out of the way, but Peak National Park is breathtaking and the Inn is cute and quaint. We enjoyed a delicious dinner at their pub and all was clean and quiet. We’d love to stay there again.

Nice hotel, good food. However, the stay was soured by no WIFI in the room and a poor choice of ales, only one, which was horrible.

Positives- very friendly and helpful staff, large car park, clean room, nice views, great food. Improvements- The bed was extremely uncomfortable, poor lighting in the room, lack of plug sockets for chargers etc, the shower wasn’t overly powerful and the carpets looked a bit tired (stains etc) Overall it was a convenient place to stay at a very reasonable price however the bedrooms could do with a refresh.

Weekend away

When we arrived, the hotel had had a slight set back with no water or electric. However staff were very helpful and organised some food for us once they were back up and running. The hotel is comfortable and very clean. The breakfast choice is amazing. Would definitely stay there again.

It is a great place to stay, eat or stop for a drink. I stayed for one night at the same time there was a wedding on though not a problem, didn't hear a thing. Breakfast was nice the morning after. Plenty of spaces to park. My room was not the same as my booking, though bed/pillows were comfy, the bathroom was for the elderly.

Lovely place to stay, away from the hustle and bustle of nearby towns, on Saddleworth Moor, this inn offers modern conveniences in an old world pub. The staff are unfailingly friendly and helpful, the rooms are spacious and very comfortable, the views amazing, the bar and dining areas are extremely attractive and well staffed. The food is prepared on site and is of a very high standard (the home made granola is amazing!). We would love to return.

Amazing place and staff

The Huntsman Inn, Holmfirth.

Set in the countryside of the Yorkshire moors. Clean and tidy rooms, piping hot water. Great menu and food and a breakfast that sets you up for the day.

Lovely clean room, comfy bed and lots of pillows, after a 7 hour drive from Kent this was lovely to crash into after a long day. I was welcomed from the onset, check in was easy and both were incredibly warm and friendly. I really appreciated the lovely extras provided such as the cafetière for coffee and the bottled water. As a single female traveller I didn’t feel at all out of place (as I have in some previous smaller accommodations I’ve stayed in for work.) Will definitely return!

Everything was amazing. We were warmly welcomed. The room was beautiful with extra touches like a teapot and a cafetiere. The bed was super comfortable. The breakfast was outstanding and the service was very nice and friendly. I would love to stay again sometime. It was amaxing value for money.

The Huntsman is right on top of the moors between Yorkshire & Greater Manchester and the scenery is stunning. We also like the fact it's only 5 Minuets drive into Holmfirth & 15 minuets drive to several historical towns on the Lancashire side. If your looking for peace & tranquility, look no further.

Chose for ourselves and my brother and sister in law. Staying for event in Holmfirth. Nicely surprised by accommodation based on the price. More than met our expectations. Very good facilities, comfy, clean, high standard of detail in the rooms, good food. No complaints.

Excellent Inn

The Huntsman was very welcoming on a chilly wet day. Plenty of parking provided. Room was cosy, warm and spacious, a well stocked hospitality tray - far better than many places I’ve stayed in. Comfy bed and plenty of hot water! Room was lovely and quiet with gorgeous vies of the Pennies (and grazing sheep!) Breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice and a very helpful waitress on duty. Highly recommended, and will definitely stay here again when next in the area.

Stayed in the Huntsman as was doing a trek the following day and found all the staff incredibly friendly and helpful , the food of a high standard and the room warm and comfortable . Location is fantastic .

Lovely stay at the Huntsman Inn, room was clean, comfortable and looked out over the moors. We ate in the restaurant where staff were prompt, helpful and friendly. The reception staff were great and gave us great info and helped with taxis etc. We had a lovely stay and would certainly recommend a stay here. We’ll be back in the future.

Banging noise all night long

Lovely room and comfy bed, tv was a tiny bit small and there was no bath which was disappointing. The thing that annoyed me was the fact that there was a gate right outside our window that was flapping and banging ALL night so didn’t sleep well at all.

This is a lovely Coaching house style building in beautiful surroundings.The bedrooms are spacious with a big bathroom,they are clean and have everything you require to have acomfortable stay. The bar and restaurant are spacious and relaxing the Customer service was exceptional as was the quality of the food,great selection of food for breakfast.I am well travelled and it is rare that the places I stay tick all the boxes but the Huntsman does.👍😁🍾

Great stay, great hotel, great staff. Excellent restaurant and food was lovely, we tried several dishes and all were delicious. On a fast busy road but our room at the back, over open fields of sheep, was quiet. Big car park, nice walks start from just a bit further up the main road. Ideal for drivers who want to be near Holmfirth. Some very minor issues in room, 2 lights out and some dust in out of sight places (allergic or wouldn't have known!) Otherwise would have been 5 stars all the way.

Welcoming staff room comfortable and clean. Not far from Holmfirth six pound in a taxi plenty of restaurants in the town tapas was excellent. Ate in huntsman second night service very good plenty of choices on menu. Would stay again if in area

We’ve recently had an overnight stay on 02/04/22 with family members and on arrival was very pleased. It had a welcoming atmosphere and seemed very nice. The rooms are a good size and beds comfy with good views. The breakfast the next morning was a good selection and very nice however we had a meal booked for the 4 of us on the evening that we stayed and I must say the service was very poor. We ordered the meal and waited 55 minutes for the starters to arrive, we were asked at one point if we had had them so knew we had been forgotten about. Our table was booked for 8pm which meant we were starting the meal at 9pm. Then after the main course the plates were on the table for at least 20 minutes after we had finished. Nobody offered any other drinks or even the desert menu. We had to find somebody to ask and then after another 20 minutes wait we gave up on the desert and had to go to the bar to get a drink to finish off the meal. Very poor service, we weren’t in the restaurant area but another smaller area behind the wall and it seemed like it most definitely was out of site out of mind. We had been into Holmfirth during the day and were disappointed that we came back for the meal as it ruined what had been a lovely day.

Very welcoming friendly staff. Room was clean and comfortable. Room had a lovely view over the garden with views of the countryside. Food was lovely in the evening and definitely worth paying the extra and staying for breakfast in the morning. Will definitely come back for another stay.

This was our third stay at the Huntsman. The staff are friendly & welcoming, the rooms are comfortable and romantic with subdued lighting.
