Excellent location and hotel. Staff are so friendly and helpful. The rooms are very clean and comfortable and really well looked after.
The property is in an ideal position for exploring Manhattan and has nearby access to the Metro. The room was tired in areas especially the bathroom and didnt really live up to the expectations gained feom the pictures on the website. Staff were polite and helpful.
Not great check in experience, didn’t have my reservation and stated they checked me in already (gave my room to someone), didn’t receive VIP experience
Absolutely fantastic. This hotel made my first visit to NYC an outstanding experience. The hotel is well situated for everything in Manhattan, especially MSG which is why I stayed. Exceeded my expectations. Clean, safe, friendly staff and big room with great amenities.
Stay elsewhere
Not the 4 star hotel as advertised. From the 1-ply toilet paper to the luke-warm shower to the teeny tiny sink and the run-down drawers which wouldn’t stay closed. But the icing on the cake was the non-stop road construction right outside which could be heard in any room in the hotel (I moved rooms to the other side, highest floor - no change). The construction occurred at all hours including 3am. Electrical humming sounds and jackhammer noises. IMO, the hotel shouldn’t be selling rooms like that without notifying customers.
Lovely little boutique hotel in Midtown, conveniently situated but the room was incredibly noisy as it was on the inside of the hotel layout right beside the air conditioning.
Charming boutique hotel in midtown, with views of Empire State Building from certain rooms. Great staff, very clean rooms. Perfect location for enjoying midtown near Herald Square and Korea Town, with access to PATH and subway.
Great place to stay!
good for the price
The warmth of the hospitality from all staff and charm of the property made this a delightful stay. As a single lady in my 50s i felt safe and supported in my needs for help navigating the transit system. I would stay here again. My only wish was access to coffee on the property but there is a nice bakery right across the street.
Great Hotel
On a theatre trip to NY my son and I stayed at the Gregorian and were thrilled with it. Everyone was very nice and helpful. The overall experience was excellent. We will be back!
Great
The staff was friendly and the room was clean and comfortable. Conveniently located a short walking distance from Moynihan Train Hall.
luxury boutique hotel, affordable nightly rate, convenient location, quiet.
The hotel was clean and staff was very friendly. Beds were so comfortable!!
Loved how accessible it is to public transportation
Nice place
The Gregorian is a winner!
The Gregorian is centrally located to Madison Square Garden, the Javitz center, 30 Rock, Bryant Park and the library, etc. All of these are in walking distance. The staff was amazing, the room was sizable and clean, very comfortable and quiet. We didn't eat at the restaurant but drinks at the bar were delicious and comparably priced for the area. Every staff member we talked to was kind, helpful, and genuinely friendly. Fantastic hotel!
Great first experience
The Gregorian is our new favorite place to stay! The staff were all so wonderfully helpful and friendly! The room was a good size, the bathroom was great, and the mattresses were so comfortable. Will definitely be back next year!
The hotel is old and its age shows. My room was exceptionally small—barely enough space to fit in the bathroom. The tiny elevators bounce and jerk as they go up and down. The exercise room had three machines; not one of them was functioning.
Fabulous!
Lovely team! Great location. Very convenient. Comfortable! Clean. Would we stay again, yup!
Very good area lots to do and clean hotel only downside is how small elevator is and hot water takes a while to come out.
Housekeeping staff was friendly and accommodating. Lobby staff & VIP amenities were very underwhelming. Daily destination fee is in the fine print that’s not charged by Expedia at booking, that will be an additional charge at checkout
Great staff. Great location. Great time.
Beautiful, well kept hotel and staff was very friendly and hardworking. Would gladly stay here again.
Excellent midtown hotel. Highly recommend if you want a boutique hotel in this area. I will be staying here again!
Very Nice Hotel
Really nice hotel. Staff is always friendly! I have stayed a few times and they welcome me by name.
We had a very warm welcome on arrival, lovely reception staff, very helpful , they got us a kettle and some cups so we could coffee in the mornings, our maids were great, rooms were always spotless when we arrived back after a hard day sight seeing and eating.
Adorable, great location, clean. Bed was comfy. Will definitely stay here again.
All noise from the hall was audible inside the room. We were awakened one morning by a demonstration/protest, but the hotel cannot prevent that. The shower did not drain well, but was addressed effectively upon request. Shower and some bath linens could have been cleaner, but we were able to just put the unclean linen aside. Overall a good stay. I’d stay there again.
Our experience at this hotel was highly disappointing. On the first night, our reservation was altered without prior notice. We had booked two rooms, each with two beds, for a four-day stay. However, upon arrival, we were instead given three rooms, which was not what we had requested. The following day, we left the hotel for a few hours. While we were out, the hotel staff moved us out of our rooms without notifying us. When we returned that evening, we discovered we were locked out, and all of our belongings had been removed from the rooms. We approached the front desk to resolve the issue, but the staff displayed an unhelpful and dismissive attitude, treating our concerns as an inconvenience. Eventually, they assigned us a new room where our belongings were supposed to be relocated. Upon inspecting the room, we found that several items were either missing or disorganized. When we returned to the front desk to address these concerns, the staff again appeared annoyed by our need for assistance. Fortunately, a kind and helpful staff member eventually intervened, ensuring all our belongings were returned to us. While the hotel itself was pleasant, the overall experience was marred by poor service at the front desk. Notably, an employee named Jasmine exhibited a lack of willingness to assist, which significantly impacted our stay.
Girls weekend
Room was much more spacious than expected, clean, excellent service. The only negative was no coffee in the rooms only but there was a great coffee shop directly across the street.
We loved staying at the Gregorian! The staff were very friendly, the older hotel had charm, but was updated, and the location gave easy access to restaurants and transportation.
Good location!!! Clean and very friendly atmosphere!
A great NYC hotel
We enjoyed the weekend in NYC in this classic NY hotel. The room and lobby were spiffy and the location was excellent. The staff was helpful. We were very happy.
Nice Gem
Good hotel. Nice location. Clean and comfortable.
Located perfectly. Staff was amazing, very nice and accommodating. Room was spacious, clean and comfy. Will definitely stay here on our next visit!
We loved our stay at the Gregorian. It is in a very nice location with several subways nearby. The lobby was nicely decorated for Christmas. We never had to wait long for an elevator, and we enjoyed the restaurant next door as well.
Great hotel in a terrific location!
We were completely happy with our stay. The location was terrific. The staff was superior! Great food right across the street. Hotel is in a great location.
Great location! The staff were super friendly and made you feel welcome and safe. There was a nice restaurant next door with good food and a nice atmosphere. The room was perfect with plenty of space a nice of the the street and what was going on around you.
Jasmin, at front desk has a attitud problem!! Jasmin should be working on a prison not a hotel! The gentelman working the night shift!! Excelente!! Great service!!!
I never share hotel reviews but will make an exception for a hotel with no running water where the toilet can only be flushed one time overnight and where the management, after offering to facilitate a refund when I moved to a different hotel, then refuses to do so and tells me it’s my problem. A disgrace of a hotel, unacceptable service, horrible and dishonest management. Don’t stay here.
Beautiful hotel
Highly recommended, clean, comfortable, spacious rooms within easy walking distances to subway, attractions, food and shopping. Staff were very polite and helpful especially Edgar who couldn't do enough for us.
Staff was excellent. Large rooms for New York. Nice boutique feel.
3-day Stay at The Gregorian
Overall we had a great stay at the Gregorian! Pros: Great location, friendly and helpful staff (Edgar and Brian were wonderful) entrance and waiting area is comfortable and welcoming, room and beds were comfortable (the room with 2 doubles had plenty of space for 3 of us), great food options just across the street, easy access to public transit, area felt safe and family friendly. Cons: No microwave or kettle/coffee maker, not sure why they charge a resort fee when there are no amenities offered, you cannot add a day at the front desk you have to rebook on an app (never experienced this before).
Noisy heaters, freezing bathroom, windows leaking. I had ice on windshield on the inside of the room
Excellent location close to stores, restaurants and transportation.
The receptionist was unaccommodating and often responded to our questions with a dismissive tone, which made the experience unpleasant. The room itself was perfect. When we inquired about the bottled water we were told they had run out and there would be no deliveries that day. Additionally, the listing mentioned parking was available, but upon arrival, we discovered that parking was not included and required a separate payment in another area.
Excellent
Our family of 4 stayed here for 2 nights yo see a show at MSG and sightsee. Everything we had planned was walkable, even in 20 degree weather. The staff was friendly and attentive. Parking was convenient. A coffee bar is the only service I would say would be an added touch. But there were several coffee shop choices steps away from the hotel.
Beautiful Hotel! The staff were very nice and the location was perfect.
Very walkable
An amazing hotel in a brilliant location - we walked to Time Square , Macy’s, Madison Square Garden and such easy access to subway Staff were helpful and friendly with all requests and questions, rooms were clean and beds super comfy Would definitely stay here again
The stay was amazing! Clean and nice room, friendly staff, and just overall awesome!
Stayed 5 nights during the christmas holidays. The hotel is in a good location with a relatively quiet block but you are one block from herald square, 5 min walk to bryant park, or 10 min to times square. hotel lobby is clean, small, and nice and our room was pretty good sized for being in NYC. Would definitely stay there again.
Lovely hotel, perfect location, pleasant and attentive staff! Would definitely rebook for my next visit to the city!
Great location to walk to key touristy sights.
Great location and very nice and big room
Unique feel and closeness to amenities.
I absolutely loved my stay at The Gregorian! My room was so clean and spacious, and the hotel is so centrally located to pretty much all the main attractions in the city, whether you’re going downtown, uptown or walking the short 8-10 minutes to Times Square. The staff was also very kind. The Christmas tree in the lobby was just beautiful, and it was so nice just spending time in the lobby, enjoying the tree in the fireplace. My only suggestion would be for them to update the fitness room with some newer and better cardio equipment. But otherwise, I can’t say enough about this hotel and will definitely stay there on future visits to NYC.
I did not receive the VIP bottle of wine that was stated in the booking even I asked for it. Also we asked for the room upgrade but we did not receive neither. Overpriced rooms
Highly recommended!!
Location was in a good location to walk to many of the mid town areas we wanted to see. Spacious room and lovely lobby. Very noisy into the night though.
This is a beautiful historic hotel! The staff was helpful. We very much enjoyed our stay and will definitely return.
The hotel is in a great location in Midtown and the room was very clean. Our first night we didn’t have heat in our room and once we told the front desk they were very apologetic and changed our room immediately.
Small boutique hotel in a good location. Staff was very friendly.
This property was perfect for our family! They upgraded our room with an amazing view of the Empire State Building. Location was amazing. Recommend opening coffee bar area, would definitely get used!
Cannot check in until 4pm and out by 11am.
We liked the quiet, safe street it was on. The parking ended up easy & accessible. The staff could have been more helpful with questions regarding parking in advance.
The staff at The Gregorian were extremely friendly, helpful, and professional. 10/10!
The hotel was very nice and the location was centrally located. The staff was very nice. I would definitely stay here again
Great location!
Great location. The room could have been cleaner, but overall we enjoyed our stay.
Exactly what we were looking for. Location was great. Hotel was clean and staff was friendly
Great location. Staff very friendly. Nice rooms. Clean and comfy. Not a lot of facilities. But nice coffee shops and bars close by. Check in at 4 is too late. But, the rooms are available for a $75 up charge. Don’t like that. If the rooms are open, just let the guests have them. Typical money grab. That and the $40 ‘resort’ fee. Road outside is noisy and constantly backed up with traffic. Get a room away from the street if you want to sleep. Would we stay again, possibly. But not on the street side.
Property has been recently updated rooms nice and tidy button coffee making facilities in room. There is an unused area in the lobby which looks like it was at one time a bar, this are could have been utilised as a coffee area. Going to the restaurant/bar you have to leave the lobby and go outside. order 4 coffee and had to go next door to purchase 4 half empty cups. Some reception staff not very pleasant.
Cute boutique hotel
The room was small but clean. The staff are all really friendly. Nowhere in the hotel for coffee in the morning but they did supply a kettle and there was a fridge.
Even though it was an old building it has been very nicely renovated. The rooms are cozy and clean. We had a fantastic view of the Empire State Building! The only negative is that there are no coffee machines in the rooms. For a coffee you have to walk to the end of the street to Dunkin or Starbucks. I would not recommend getting a coffee from the restaurant next door, too pricey for a thimble amount of coffee. Overall we had a great stay, the Gregorian is very conveniently located to major tourist areas.
Perfect location!! 3min walk to the subway if needed and Macys and more shopping stores around the corner!
Great stay - very convenient location
My three friends and I traveled to NYC for the purpose of visiting the Morgan Library. We chose to stay at The Gregorian based on its proximity to the museum, Penn Station, and the hotel's reasonable rates. The hotel was wonderful in every aspect, and we were so pleased that it was within walking distance to Macy's, Bryant Park, Times Square, and Rockefeller Center. We will definitely stay at The Gregorian again.
Great location. Nice hotel.
Nice hotel. Close to Madison square garden and the train station. There was an issue with the elevator that necessitated a room change but the manager personally called the room and made it right. The room was comfortable and spacious for NYC. I would highly recommend this place!!
Rooms are extremely tired and worn, unlike the photos you see online, advertising the property. The furniture was battered, other than the bed you have one office chair and no net curtains for privacy. If you want any natural light into your room, everyone in the surrounding buildings can very easily see in. The shower had to be run for 10 minutes before it heated up. Zero coffee making facilities, no water and the bar in the lobby you see in the photos was closed the entire 6 days I was there and didn’t look like it was opening any time soon. If you want water or coffee, you need to leave the hotel and find the stores around the corner. The only highlight here was the attentive, friendly staff.
Staff are nice
Lovely building, friendly staff, clean room, very comfortable beds.
Staff was extremely courteous and helpful.
Friendly staff
The staff was very friendly - I like them a lot.
This location is perfect! Walkable to everything MidTown. The deco is fantastic and full of history…… fully, properly historically renovated! If you don’t like staying here…. not sure we could be friends!
Excelent
Wonderful location near the Empire State
Location!
Would definitely stay here again. Room was small or I’d have given it 5 stars. That’s the only thing that was less than ideal.
Hot water not working mostly. Room heat could not be adjusted.
Great hotel
Very nice hotel, great room and bathroom, very comfortable bed, hotel staff very kind, excellent location
The restaurant next door called Gaia was amazing!!
We really liked the hotel. The staff was very nice. The room was spacious, shower worked well as did the a/c. The bed was extremely comfortable. Hotel was very clean. The only things we didn't like was that there was no coffee provided. Not in the room and not in the lobby. So we had to walk a block or so for the morning coffee. Also the windows in the room need too be more sound proofed. We faced 35th street and it was very noisy.
Excellent location
Gregorian Hotel was in an excellent location. Convenient to many different attractions. The hotel is older and not modern. The bathroom could use some updated renovations. The beds were very comfortable. The hotel staff was very kind and accommodating to any needs we had.
Great location.
Clean and secure but not luxurious
The hotel was very clean and the staff were friendly and welcoming. The room was not as small as most NYC hotel rooms and was comfortable except that most of the lamps had shrill, fluorescent bulbs that were so unpleasant we couldn't use them. Bathroom was clean but the lighting was dim and the walls and fixtures were a little scuffed and tired. There was no in-room coffee or tea and none available in the lobby, which was inconvenient.

Everything was excellent but I wouldn’t stay again. There is no coffee or tea in the room or lobby. You have to leave the building. Also I left a new pair of expensive sneakers in the room and called just a few hours after checkout while housekeeping was still there, yet they “couldn’t find them”. Staying at the Garden Inn across the street from now on.
