Nice property, Hamam is cool
As a family of 10 we thoroughly enjoy our stay at the Galata Hotel at the end of October 2024. We were there 3 nights and 4 days. Hotel is pleasant, the rooms were large and very comfortable. The hotel accommodated us by having all our rooms next to each other. The staff and service was impeccable, very warm, welcoming and attentive. We would like to say a big thank you to everyone for making our holiday special. The location is great and near shops, cafes and restaurants. Advisable to be fit as there are some steps and some steep roads not lasting more than a few minutes before you enter the main tourist area.
My overall experience was good.
Overall excellent
Helpful staff. Great location. Comfortable rooms.
Excellent stay! I booked a fantastic room for my 50th birthday, everything was superb, highly recommend this hotel!
Great place to stay
The staff are wonderful and very accommodating, housekeeping is very good, restaurant was nice with great views and the hotel was in a great location.
It was a great location near the Galata tower with lots of shopping and eating houses. The restaurant in the hotel is also very nice
Solid hotel. Great location - right in the middle of it all. Excellent facilities. Gym is a bit basic but better than nothing. Rooms are great. Reception staff are good when you engage with them, but not exactly proactively so. Told front desk about a blocked shower drain, twice, but wasn't fixed. Other than that, a great stay.
Beautiful hotel
Nice hotel
The hotel was fantastic. I liked the location and the building. The rooms were spacious and clean. We had a lovely view of the city.
Absolutely incredible - faultless!
Overall great place to stay. Staff is so helpful. Easy access to great restaurants, shopping and the neighborhood is safe.
We have enjoyed a lot our staying at The Galata Istanbul MGallery hotel. Excellent location and walking distance to the Galata Tower. Very friendly and professional staff, clean room . From the 3rd floor restaurant you could have an amazing view of the Mosque and Bosporus. Really appreciated all the arrangements and help received from the hotel. A must recommend place to stay.
Excellent location, friendly staff, very helpful and professional reception desk assisting in all needed arrangements Very polite and hard working cleaning lady Everything was great, thank you all
This was an excellent choice with very friendly and helpful staff - and well positioned for walking to the old town. The only downside was that we have not booked breakfast before. It was good but expensive- we should have booked it in advance.
Overall stay was okay. Property is in a great location in gálata and nearby the tram / lots of rooftops / going out areas. Room itself was really nice and clean. Overall service was fine as they were trying their best. Would rate this hotel a zero for VIP access benefits. I had to repeatedly ask for the spa discount and welcome drinks as they were not offered at checkout. I made a spa reservation that they messed up and then they didn’t have anywhere on file that I was an Expedia member so it was a huge hassle to get the discount. Made for a disjointed stay — disappointing as I spent 6 nights there.
Staff was outstanding!!!! breakfast was so good.
Stayed for few nights , hotel and staff is absolutely fantastic. Would stay There again , thank you
Beautiful boutique hotel
Great boutique hotel near Galata Tower. Easy walk/tram across river to old town. Super safe, beautiful old part of city.
We had such a wonderful stay at this hotel. Everything went wonderfully. The staff was so friendly and helpful. The location is safe and in a great spot to walk to all the city’s treasures. It’s better to stay on this side of the river away from the extremely touristy parts, but still just a walk or tram ride away. The rooms are beautiful spacious and clean. Showers are wonderful. The service all around is impeccable. Room service to hamman (which is free each day) was fabulous. Everywhere you turn there is someone to welcome and help. We will definitely return.
I'm 62 years old and have traveled to 12 different countries and this is one of the best I have ever been to anywhere , everyone was so so friendly and helpful. The breakfasts was in the top five of any I have ever seen. I really loved the fresh honeycomb every morning. I got a chance to talk to the general manager what an outstanding gentleman he made sure that there was nothing more he could do for me and gave me lots of suggestions on places to travel next all in all a wonderful stay and I would recommend this to anyone any family if you are coming to a Istanbul stay nowhere else but here
The Galata is a wonderful hotel with friendly staff, delicious Turkish breakfast, and well-appointed rooms. The Turkish bath on-site is very nice, with similarly amazing staff and the amenities you would expect. My only issue, and not one the hotel can control, is that the area immediately around the hotel is in a state of transition. Many buildings are under construction and its difficult for car services to reach. It's not really a big deal because once you walk closer to Galata Tower, things are nicer again. If you're reading this 6 months from now I'm guessing much of it has cleared. I'll also acknowledge we stayed in mid-February, which is definitely the off-season, so that could partly be the cause. Overall an amazing experience and one I would repeat next time I'm in Istanbul. Definitely order the Turkish breakfast in your room and the Turkish bath!
Fantastic stay! Thanks to Mr. Halit & Mr. Erman, who made our stay great! We liked us so much and booked the next stay.
Friendly staff
I'm eager to return to The Galata Istanbul Hotel MGallery for another wonderful experience. The hotel's prime and tranquil location, combined with its friendly staff, made my experience truly enjoyable. The restaurant not only offered tasty food but also provided a breathtaking view. The highlight of my stay was the Historical Turkish Bath & SPA ‘Çeşme Hamamı, adding a perfect touch to my relaxation. Highly recommended!
Old hotel !
Beautiful Interior design, “Autoban”did amazing job yet again. Amazing breakfast area. Definitely include the breakfast option, worth it. Hotel is very Clean and is at a very central location. If you like walking and exploring a new city, this is your area in Istanbul. Most beautiful sites are walk in distance. Parking option available but expensive and streets are very narrow and hard to navigate during the rush hour. “Hamam” is extraordinarily beautiful but 30 mins limited access doesn’t make much sense, considering at least 1 hour is needed. Make reservations to “hamam” no walk ins! Staff is friendly, very kind but they make you feel like they rather are doing their job only. They do not make you feel home so much as far as hospitality idea goes. The ambiance makes the hotel worth staying. Roof bar has a good view to enjoy couple drinks. Rooms are small and bathrooms are really tiny. Very low chance of getting room upgrades with your vip access. Shampoo, conditioner and body wash is good quality.
Excellent
For us this was the perfect location. A couple of minutes from the Galata bridge and access to the old town and minutes away from both the Karakoy area and the Galata Tower albeit up a steep hill but this is unavoidable. Hotel itself was in excellent condition and staff helpful. Bonus is the onsite presence of a beautiful hammam.
It didn’t feel like a 5 star hotel experience more like a 4 Staff were helpful Bar man didn’t know what a corkscrew was! Rooms were small but comfy beds
Needs tweaking but good
It was a good hotel, and a good stay, but needs to improve a few things. Breakfast was wonderful and the best part of the stay, shower great, bed very good. Just missed a little bit of a local touch of a baklava at brrakfast. Check in felt like a series of upselling efforts for a better room, restaurant, spa, too much. The room has a few annoying flaws that should be fixed such as controlling the light is really difficult. The DND light on the door didn’t work, could not switch off / lower the sound on the TV and the phone does not have a button for front desk so getting in touch with them was challenging. Basics. Also, there was no wine opener in the bar so why sell bottles with a cork, maybe switch to a screw top - and they definitely could cut back on plastic in the room. Last airconditioning was either super strong cold or hot so we had to tweak it back-and-forth. Having said all of that the hotel has a beautiful design, friendly staff, well located and is clean and the deluxe room was a good size. For what they charge I would just expect a little better.
Hotel catered to a certain clientele, which wasn’t me but I only stayed one night so everything was fine. Helpful staff, great location close to public transportation and all the happenings around Galata Tower and The Bosporus. Do note the restaurant changes into a club on Friday night, which was right above my room.
This is a quiet hotel with very friendly staff. The location is ideal. 5 my a walk from the T1 tram which takes you directly to all the main tourist attractions - Blue Mosque etc - and 8 mins uphill to the Gálata Tower and the nearby nightlife area. (Or walk 4 mins to the Tunel funicular railway, the second oldest underground railway in the world after the London Underground for a ride to the top of the hill). And 5 mins from ferry terminal for the trip to Asia or Bosphoros Tours. Very reasonable prices compared to all the international chain hotels.
Excellent service. The rooms are beautiful. Close to transportation and getting around.
We booked a standard room, and at check in we were offered the option to upgrade. We chose. It to, as we were going to be busy in the city so didn’t need lots of time in the room. We wish we did upgrade though as the room we had (1117) was very noisy. We could here people all night (concierge and night porters I think). This was all night, this part of the hotel was very noisy and we did. Or sleep very well. When we checked out, the same lady who checked us in was checking in some other guests and she told them they we being upgraded to a better room because there was plenty of availability. This was a bit frustrating and felt almost like an insult. But that it what it is. I am a travel agent and will probably recommend other hotels to my clients in the future.
19th century bank building beautifully Renovated 17th century hamam in the basement, centrally located MGallery is is a great place to stay. Their restaurant has magnificent view of the Golden Horn and a very good kitchen Turkish cuisine refined for 21st century.
Amazing
We had a fantastic trip. The rooms are excellent, great customer service, and amazing breakfast.
Stayed with family for 4 nights. We booked Deluxe Room with Galata View and Junior Suite with view. Our rooms were on the 5th floor (top floor) and had excellent views of Galata Tower and Galata bridge. Rooms and shower were modern and very comfortable. The breakfast was nutritious and service was good. Special thanks to Halit and Eyup at the concierge for a seamless experience during check in and check out. I will definitely recommend staying here and will stay here again should I visit Istanbul in the future.
Clean modern rooms in an old historic building
Very good location.
Nice room, good location, very friendly stuff. Thanks to Halit for room upgrade,
Ok.
The hotel is well appointed with exquisite rooms that are clean and smells really good! Bed is comfortable with a choice of pillows. And that rain shower feels like you dont want to get out anymore!
I thought the hotel itself was perfect; rooms were lovely, clean, comfortable. The one point that was odd/not so great was the taxi situation. It's very clear that Istanbul has a problem with reliable drivers, so when we asked the desk to call a taxi for us and they said it was impossible, we really were shocked. This is a service that is usually standard in most hotels, especially those with higher ratings. I would highly recommend that the hotel sort out something to compensate for this; either have a list of recommended drivers ready to recommend/call for guests with fixed prices, or a list of reliable taxis, etc.
comfortable rooms, good staff and service. but unionpay not accepted.
Great property, location and service. Didn’t get complementary drinks nor upgrade. Very loud “rooftop” restaurant/bar that parties up to wee hours. Not a good property if you want a good night sleep.
The most amazing stay in Istanbul!
This was my second stay at this lovely boutique hotel and there is nothing I can fault! Everything was absolutely perfect. The service, the welcoming, the comfortable bed, the amazing terrace! I would like to specifically thank Engin for his lovely and friendly welcome and an upgrade of our deluxe room to a terrace room with a wonderful view of galata tower! He was constantly addressing us by our names and making sure everything was up to standard! Definitely staying here for our next visit!
I loved each details in our stays. Staff was amazing and smiling everyone.
A nice stay at the hotel by an anonymous reviewer
The hotel was very clean and very nice. The hotel used to be a bank. The lobby was interesting....it still had lock boxes around the bar and the door that lead to the vault. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel staff helped arrange transportation and tour guides. They also offered hammam. The breakfast was excellent, a wonderful buffet of various cheese, meats, fruit, bread and many other things. They cooked my egg to my satisfaction. The staff gave us a map to help us walk around, marking historical places of interest to see.
Stay at this hotel was pleasant. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The rooms were clean and comfortable.
Great Property
This is a great location and very clean property. I would certainly recommend this property and will stay there again should we be in Istanbul again.
No one told us the breakfast was delayed until we got there.
Great staff, very quiet and clean property. I would definitely stay here again.
My room was on the first floor (in the US this is the second floor) facing the interior lobby and the windows are quite thin. I could hear anyone and everything in the lobby. I played white noise on my phone to drown out all the other noise. The hotel says the room is non smoking but the smell of smoke still entered the room. Not sure if this was due to the restaurant being on the floor above me and smoking is allowed there. The smell was so strong that it burned my eyes and I would turn on the AC to help get rid of the smoke smell. Other than that, I would’ve given the hotel a 5.
Beautiful hotel me and my wife stayed for 10 days. The whole building is beautiful especially the bathrooms and showers. The location of hotel is perfect there is a lot to do in walking distance and it is in the center of everything. The restaurant has a great view and some of the best food we had in Istanbul. The breakfast is great they have anything you could want for breakfast and it’s all great quality. The staff was very helpful and accommodating to us for anything we needed including Covid tests. The room was very comfortable with a couch and king size bed.
It was perfect hotel for me and my husband. It is quite nice and clean. Breakfast buffet is the best!
Amazing Stay
Our return stay just as good
A joy to make our return stay here, two years on, it is just as good. Can highly recommend. Reception and concierge staff very helpful, kind and considerate. I'm sure we'll be back again some day.
Autumn Istanbul Break
This is a very beautiful place to stay and was formerly a bank as the original vault door has been incorporated into the reception area decor. Service was impeccable and all staff were ultra polite and very helpful when asked about which tourist sights to visit. There is also a historical building in the lower grounds which I believe was an old Turkish bath (Hamman) see photo.
Thank you very much for the hispitality. The manager who upgrading my room its makes my stay wonderful & the front guy who help me to arrange my transport to the airport and evrythings that make my travel so much easier. Everything was perfect. I enjoyed my stay. All the Men at the breakfast area are also nice. Just one thing to improve, the cleaning of the floor. It would be perfect. Thanks you.
Good location however the traffic is difficult and you must be in great shape to go up all the way the street stairs to the Galata tower surroundings.
Mükemmel…
Lokasyon manzara temizlik iyi seviyedeydi
Great location, nice hammam and friendly staff
Everything was excellent! I loved the hotel and highly recommend it. Special thanks to Burak, Ufak & Eyup for their amazing hospitality
Excelent!!
Love this place and will be so happy to come back again
Lovely stay. Location is perfect to go around the city The room are very Comfortable the service is really good and the view from the terrace is absolutely amazing. Burak and furkan at the reception were really helpful and arranging Recommend this hotel
Good location but could have done better
On the positive side, the location is good. It is very well connected to the tram station Karaköy, the metro station Shishane and the ferry station of Karaköy. On the downside, the surrounding is not the best with many cars coming and going. Because the streets are so narrow, the cars were blocking the way all the time. The room was also quite small. The bathroom did not have a socket for the hair dryer. The room keeper probably forgot to refill the bottled water. And even after we called frontdesk, nothing happened. We have expected more from a 5 star hotel.
I am very impressed with the everything! The hotel has a great location with the most friendly hotel staff I have ever seen. They know how to treat their customers. I stayed with my friends there for about 5 days. Next year we are coming back!
The service was exceptional and the property was beautiful!
Great hotel!
Great stay just a few minutes walk from the Galata tower and only 30 mins or so walk from the Hagia Sofia. Comfortable room, great service and lovely rooftop bar! Also, felt very safe in the current times, with temperature checks every time we entered the hotel, very clean and all staff wearing masks etc.
Perfect romantic hotel
This hotel was very clean, and the actual lobby area is beautiful. It is a fun hotel to explore and the staff were extremely attentive and friendly. The hotel has the layout of a cute quirky family owned bed and breakfast but the slickness of a multinational chain. Breakfast was excellent. However, rules are inconsistent (door was open to terrace during breakfast so grabbed a table then after being served breakfast told 'you should not sit there...but anyway') also the hammam was firmly shut at 10am in the morning despite a sign saying it is open from 9am.
The decor was super cool the rooms were very modern with good lighting. It was close to everything we needed. Walkable distanced to Galata tower, the Galata bridge, it was close to everything we needed. Staff was very nice I would definitely stay here again without a doubt!
Touch of luxury!
Amazing hotel within walking distance to ferries and anything in Karaköy area. Top notch room and breakfast, really luxurious stay.
The bed and the pillows were so comfy u just want to stay in bed. Breakfast is tasty and staff very friendly.
We were given a different room than what we have booked online on Expedia. The pictures shown on Expedia for a superior room was different than what was provided to us by the Hotel. They changed the room after we showed them the picture of the room on our Expedia Booking.
Clean and good location. However staff seems a little edgy at all times which is unexpected from a concierge. Secondly it says breakfast service on the booking...doesnt mean its free. Costs 15 euro.. all else is ok.
Loved the staff, super friendly and always ready to help. Rooms are beautiful and clean, very uniquely renovated. Great location, right next to the Galata tower. The view from the restaurant and 5th floor balcony is amazing, facing Sultanahmet.
Elegant Hotel with Character, Highly recommend.
I stayed here twice on my recent trip to Istanbul, enjoyed my first night that I cancelled my booked hotel a week later and decided to stay here again. My room had a breathtaking view of the Istanbul skyline, very clean. Even the breakfast room had a view of the Bosphorus, Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia. You know you're in Istanbul. My bed and pillows were so comfortable too. There's a bar that also provides a great view. The hotel used to be a bank and has its original historic bones, adds a lot of character. Its historical Çeşme Hamamı was built by Grand Admiral Kaymak Mustafa Pasha at the end of 1720, so beautiful. The service was exceptional. Thanks for a great experience, I will return in a few months and will stay here again.
We enjoyed our stay at the Galata Istanbul Hotel Mgallery. The staff were extraordinary trained, welcoming guests with a smile and super efficient. The front desk/concierge especially Elliya "I hope I spelled his name correct" and Frieda from the Breakfast Language were an exceptional staff. The property is super clean and comfortably equipped. Normally we like to stay in higher rooms for a better view but we were told that better to get lower room as it doesn't have the noise from the night club they have on the roof.
Extremely pleased
Had an overall great experience. The hotel was very clean and luxurious and housekeeping did a very speedy job of cleaning our room each morning. We were particularly happy with the breakfast which had an enormous variety of sweet and savoury foods. The staff were also very kind in answering any questions we had and calling a taxi for us at the end of our stay. The hotel is also in a walking distance to many main attractions which was helpful as we didn't have to use much public transport. Overall we were extremely pleased with our stay and would recommend staying at The Galata.
Wonderful 5 star boutique hotel stay
Wonderful 5 day stay at this lovely new boutique hotel. It’s small but lovely rooms. Friendly staff, clean rooms, wonderful locations with a few mins walk to local attractions such as Galata Tower and Karaköy as well as taksim. Not a great breakfast though! Otherwise, 5 stars! Highly recommend!
+ Nice and friendly reception staff, very effective. + Excellent breakfast + Very well located hotel + Good SPA and Hamam facilities - Chaotic communication in the SPA reservations with the various receptionists/representatives - Very loud music in the club situated at the third floor (despite good insulation of the windows, the loud music could be heard during week-end until 2 or 3 a.m.) - Toiletries have been replaced only upon request to the cleaning staff - Used glasses have been taken out daily without being replaced by clean ones
We had a great stay It’s a bit noisy on a Saturday night but it’s saturday night !! Breakfast is great
Superb all round staff who could not do enough for their guests. They made the stay even more enjoyable. Good location and very close walking distance to Bosphorus and also Metro for getting around.
The hotel is not a 5 star as per description it’s more a high 3 star. The bathroom has yellow stain on the tiles. There is no bath tub. The music from the roof stop makes it impossible to sleep. The pillows are hard and room quite small compare to 5 star hotels. It’s close to most amenities but if you want to relax then it’s a no.
Great location
Lovely hotel within walking distance to Galata Tower which was a lovely district to walk around with shops, bars, eating placing. Also close to river and bridge crossing to visit tourist sites.
Not 5 star service
The team at breakfast were nice - making fresh omelettes and getting lactose free milk for me when I asked for it. And the spa was very good too. However, when I arrived at the room type I paid for wasn't available so I had to sleep in one room for one night and then move room - this was explained to me in a very matter of fact way without any apology for the inconvenience. They showed no sympathy when they explained I would need to check out by the normal check out time and then wait a few hours to check in to my new room, which impacted my plans for that day. I was moved to a room over looking a nearby club which was very loud on Saturday and Sunday nights. I asked reception when it would stop and was told they would check and call me back but they never did. When I called sometime later and asked again they said it would stop at 1am so I could sleep after that, which is not what I expected of a 5 star hotel. There was no offer of changing room (in this case, again).
The hotels is nice, but the air-conditioning in the junior suites is inadequate. Lower floors around the courtyard can clearly hear music from a bar/club at night. Bathrooms have a great shower with lots of water flow, but the overall bathroom design is narrow and awkward.
Although the hotel is well located, it is poorly managed with unwelcoming service from male reception staff. Some rooms are nice from the inside and outside, but most are depressing regarding size and view. Air-conditioning was poor and ventilation is an issue. Service is slow and in many times they do not respond to your requests. I've had to make the same request over and over with no response at all. Breakfast was really good and staff at breakfast are the best. All in all, I would recommend to skip this one. Many great alternatives with better value and friendly staff are available in the neighborhood.
Overall my stay was awesome.
The room is sparkling clean. Service is excellent. Room size is good. Location of the hotel is sometimes hard to find by taxis. Nearest tram is about 10 minutes walk. There is a five minute away grocery store. The only drawback back is that my room was overlooking the lobby and the windows are not soundproof; so you would hear much of the noise of guests in the lobby. So be advised not to take rooms on the lobby side. Other than that. I would recommend the hotel.
Great hotel close to Galata
Lovely hotel! Rooms were great, location superb and the building itself is fantastic.
Superb!
In mid June 2018, I spent 3 nights at Galata M Gallery in Istanbul and I found it to be excellent. My room on the 5th floor had a beautiful balcony with great views. Breakfast was very good and the rooftop bar was just the right place for drinks with friends. The location of the hotel is ideal. In walking distance to all the wonders this city has on offer and also close to all public transport. All the staff were very polite and friendly. My compliments to them all. I would definitely go back when I'm back in istanbul.
This hotel was in a nice location but somehow the staff wasn’t professional enough for a pretty boutique hotel, the room i booked showed 30sq Meter but given room was 25sq Meter and the room was in a weird shape. Had to complain after my airconditioner didn’t cool the room so we were moved into a connected 2rooms what was very nice from the hotel. The hotel is advertised with a Turkish hamam and there isn’t any extra fees mentioned anywhere in my bookings and in Expedia booking app !! The extra fee was around £50 just to use the hamam . Should be mentioned in the bookings because I booked this hotel especially for the hamam and was very disappointed! Hotel is very new pretty and clean but staff needs to be more attentive . Really liked the breakfast buffet .
Can’t go wrong
Great hotel, lovely staff, beautiful rooms, fantastic breakfast, loved the area, full of great cafes, bars and restaurants.
Overall fine due to staff friendliness
Staff need following training: Communication English speaking Some points to be review at the reception, mostly by the night audit
Upscale style and flair at a great value
I was very surprised when my taxi arrived to bouquets of flowers greeting me in front of the hotel and leading into reception. It turns out it was their official grand opening so it felt like a special occasion just to arrive at the Galata Istanbul Hotel. It's an MGallery by Sofitel so I expected the beautifully designed spaces, from the lobby to the restaurant, to my room, which lived up to their standards. And the views across the busy waterway to the Golden Horn and the Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace and other landmarks were absolutely stunning. I could have sat at my window working for hours with that view for company. Two off-key notes were the loud music playing at the terrace bar until around 11:30pm on Friday and Saturday nights, and the room service meal I ordered but never arrived - this may have been due to the Room Service button on the phone not being connected to the restaurant itself. So a couple of kinks to iron out, but overall this is a terrific hotel in a good part of town, a great value for the price I paid. It is close to restaurants and there are mass transit options nearby so you don't always have to rely on taxis or uber. One thing I would have liked to try out but did not have time is the beautiful, restored hammam they have on site. Gotta save something for the next visit.
Well equipped rooms in good location
Excellent rooms, great bathrooms, good staff, great breakfast. However, they have an issue with no soundproofing in the rooms at the back of the hotel underneath the bar area and the dining room. Added to that they have set price functions on a Saturday night with loud music until 01.00 then the sound of moving furniture until 03.00. Best to book a Galata Tower view room if you are a light sleeper!
Beautiful Room. Exactly as pictured. Great place to rest and start your day exploring the city.
