The Beds were so low, for an adult only hotel, seniors had a rough time getting out of them.
The vibe was great! The staff was super nice and helpful, I only did an overnight with my family while passing through. This is an 18 hotel so no kiddos allowed, and guests staying with you need to show ID to verify they are 18
It's always nice staying at this location! Great staff and clean. Will recommend to family and friends
Perfect stay!!
Quiet location
Good, decent, nice quiet location.
Average at best hotel!
Hotel was clean but bathroom sink drain was broken, there was no bath soap or conditioner in the refillable dispensers. Tv viewing was not enjoyable ,just basic tv channels. Mini fridge did not keep things very cold and no microwave.
It was an all around experience N the rooftop views were amazing
Big room and really clean i loved it
This unique property offers an array of experiences from pool to restaurant to rooftop! Very interesting experience. Staff was above and beyond friendly and helpful and explanatory. Check in was easy peasy and pain free!
Area is not great. Hotel is safe but when you walk outside, not so much. No restaurants or coffee shops near by. Really out of the way. Will not stay again.
Elevation lounge amazing
Wouldn’t Recommend
Unkept, not safe, terrible patch work, dirty, moist,
The area is far from downtown and industries. A little misrepresented on the website. Also at night the area has many homeless people amking it not inviting to walk around past dark.
Pretty cool
The place was very clean. Would have been nice if the bar was open until 10 pm. Also would have been nice to have Coffee down at the lobby in the mornings. Other than that, the place was very nice.
😊
Great place to stay
It was a fun cozy experience. Will definitely be staying here again!
Great place to stay..nice staff...clean rooms
Clean and well setup room...GREAT STAFF....Highly Recommend.
Close to where I was working
Music in the pool area quite loud and certainly an 18 hotel as advertised
The double queen suite’s beds were almost on the floor. Extremely difficult to get out of them for old and tall folks like us. Also the bed frame of one of the beds only had about 12 inches of space with the entry way of the bedroom so a major trip hazard. Everything else was fine.
I really enjoyed the hotel. They staff were very kind and helpful
Everything is great at this hotel. Not one complaint. Staff was amazing
It was alright. But when I booked the trip it didn’t say anything about being charged a destination fee when I arrived so what i thought was a good deal turned out to be much more expensive than expected. I could have stayed in and better place and closer to where I needed to be. The the destination fee was half the cost of the hotel for the night before taxes.
Rethink Your Stay
Nice place but unfortunately: Hot water not working. Front desk shared that when too many people use the water, the hot water won’t work. She added that maintenance would we’d a few hours to fix the issue. I was then moved to a new room, unfortunately: The WiFi went down and so did the TV. The front desk comes up to fix the box behind the tv. Then, the key card doesn’t work to get back in the room. Had to go back and get another card to get into the new room. The new room also had issues with the hot water, at this point I stopped sharing concerns. Just not worth it.
Music loud at 7am
Its out 3rd time staying here. Love the atmosphere, and super kind staff!
Great customer service
Great customer service , staff was friendly and helpful. The hostess from the restaurant was a very sweet and friendly young girl.
The staff were fantastic. There was no microwave available to heat food. The restaurant was not always accessible at various times. The microwave is very important to those who have certain diets. We had small issues with our room but it was corrected as soon as possible. We will definitely return again each year.
Very friendly staff, room was a bit stuffy but overall nice. The washrooms were a little frightening, stained and cracked bathtub and very small. Bed was super comfortable.
Staff were extremely courteous, helpful and pleasant. Restaurant was absolutely delicious. Was a bit disappointed with the room: cute decor but felt empty and dingy, bedframe low to the floor. Upgraded to a smoking room. The decor was a little better, but the cleanliness and general condition of the room was mediocre at best.
This was perhaps the worst hotel I've had in my life. My first room was dark and uncomfortable. The air conditioning was loud from a ceiling-mounted unit for which the remote did not work. I found a power-off switch. It was still cold and there was no heat available at all. The TV did not work. Might have been unplugged, but I could not figure out how to do that. There was no refrigerator. I got a new room the second night, and it was only a little better. The AC made it very cold, could not be adjusted by the remote, so I turned it off with the power switch on the ceiling. No heater there either. The bathrooms in both rooms were dark; no lights on sink or mirror. First room the tub was filthy and old; second room had better tub and fixtures. Neither room had a dresser with clothing drawers. Fridge in second room had broken switched and kept nothing cool. Staff was nice in getting me the second room. I did not complain about the second room. The advert on dining was not clear, but I was expecting a breakfast, whether included or at cost. No breakfast at all. There is a restaurant attached to the main lobby, but the hotel staff said they were not part of the hotel. Not opened in the morning. I got one take-out dinner at that restaurant that was acceptable. The neighborhood was terrible and perhaps scary to some people. There were people pushing shopping carts filled with living materials. No retail shops or food in the area. Public transit far off.
Great bed - snafu the final morning
Great stay! Comfortable, plenty of room and no neighbor noise. Last morning however there was no hot water. Only option we were given was to shower in another room. With an hour before checkout and being half packed we would have appreciated more time not another inconvenience.
Fabulous place to stay and eat and just hang out by the pool!
The staff was amazing and the atmosphere and vibe was right, but the room needs some cosmetic and maintenance up keep. For a king suite I expect a more unkept room.
Close this hotel!!!
We were moved to one room to the next we were in a Dump! Homeless down the street!
Room had a lot of little details that made the price not worth the stay.
The overall experience was ok, but the rooms are very outdated, the atmosphere was wonderful, the food great the rooms need to be seriously upgraded
Cool
Nice stay
The bed was comfortable, but bed frame was right in the floor, very very low. Very difficult for someone tall to get in and out of.
I felt unsafe. Surrounded by homeless encampments. Someone with access took all of the food from the refrigerator in my room. Heater didnt work. Noisy.
Pool area looked nice (it was too cold for us to utilize). Our room was freezing cold, the heat didn't work, but the staff responded quickly to send someone to fix. The shower was cold and poor pressure. There was a pretty bad draft from the door and window which didn't help the temp. The sink was practically not usable, sprayed like a a kitchen vegetable sprayer and splashed everywhere no matter the adjustments you made. New clean floors and beds. Good location.
Loved everything about it except the water in the showers was lukewarm. Pool , Jacuzzi, restaurant and staff all excellent!
I stayed for one night but I felt very unsafe there. Walking from a lighted parking lot to a very dark walkway to the lobby, I didn't like. The room was fine. The staff were so understanding it was just all the homeless people in the street.
Very friendly but make sure you have a car!
It was an ok hotel but there was nothing around the hotel, nothing to walk to in case you needed something like snacks or toiletries. The restaurant was inconsistently open but when it was open, very good food and very nice employees!
The Clarendon is a gem in the heart of the city of Phoenix. As you enter the property, you feel as if you were instantly transported to an island getaway- the staff is welcoming and the amenities add to the feeling of escape from all worries and stress. I call it my secret fort- a place to relax and detach from the stressors of the outside world.
The place was so bad. I didn’t even bother pulling in the parking lot very disappointed, homeless people living in parking lot.
Horrible Dirty
It was a great getaway
A Bit Run Down
On the good side this is a very affordable hotel with really nice and helpful staff. Although it seemed clean, because so much of the furniture was chipped, scratched, veneer pealing, it looked bad. The bathroom was really small and fixtures cheap. It has a lot of what could be cool and modern style but is really beat up. I thought this was a newer remodel?? Finally, it feels like a Palm Springs hotel centering in the party pool and loud music. Great place for younger clients wanting an inexpensive vibrant experience. As middle aged couple, just wanted the music turned down @ 10pm…LOL
The lazy bee spa experience inside of the hotel was amazing. My masseuse’s name was Nick and he was spectacular. I will be traveling back to this location just to receive a massage from Nick at the lazy beast spa. Good job, Nick!
There were a couple dirty pillows … just don’t use them
Great staff
Rock Stars
It was a wonder weekend getaway and to celebrate Phoenix Gay Pride in comfort. Thank you to all the wonderful Lady's at the front desk for making our weekend a joyful experience with laughs and smiles. To the rest of the team thanks for all your hard work and dedication to making your hotel look beautiful and peaceful. 1000 stars are given you all rock..
The property is in serious need for uprade - at least the rooms we were in: 211 and 213. We asked to switch room after we found out the shower head was leaking half of its output through the hose… 213 was a bit better, but at over $100/night the B.S. “resort” fee of $28 makes it an overpriced place. On a side note, the adult only / clothing optional vibe we were looking for was not really there either. Overall, a disappointing experience.
Great Hotel
Great stay, great amenities, the staff was friendly
Fast friendly check in, nice amenities and they were cannabis friendly which made our stay more comfortable without inconveniencing any other guests. The area seemed pretty decent and safe and my spouse and I felt welcome.
Unexpectedly Disappointed
I was expecting a luxe resort / spa experience and instead was very disappointed and checked out after one night. My room felt like a cheap dorm room that was renovated by an unscrupulous flipper. The “closet” was a cheap particle board wall unit. The desk had a big chunk out of it that then had masking tape used to span the hole and painted to somewhat match the desk. The bathtub had stains and chips and a non-working plug. The pool area was closed for a private event for a marijuana company with loud music late into the night. Immediate neighborhood with significant blight and felt unsafe with many unhoused people. Not at all what I expected with it being comparable in price to very nice hotels in the area. I rarely write reviews, but felt compelled to share my experience.
I was extremely disappointed in the condition of the hotel. I had stayed at the Clarendon 5 years ago and the rooms were much nicer and better taken care of then. There was a lack of lighting and furniture in the living room area. There was only a sofa, one light, A small refrigerator in the corner with a coffee maker, sitting on top of it and round table in another corner with no lighting. One bed in the sleeping area blocked most of the doorway. The drywall in the shower area was crumbling and the shower curtain rod was falling off the wall. One of the pictures on the wall in the bedroom appeared that someone had smashed into it, and it was broken in two spots. The mirror above the sink had been replaced because there were big spots on the wall where there appeared to be mastic from a previous mirror installation along with caulking that was falling off the wall. The faucet in the sink did not work when turned to the hot water side and only worked from the cold side, barely spraying water. I was very disappointed in the condition of the hotel. I will definitely not be returning.
Great time at Clarendon
Melinda at the front desk was beyond amazing. She welcomed us and took care of us til our departure. The entire staff including restaurant was great.
Phoenix Stay for Two Nights
Overall it was pretty good
Please renovate your rooms They’re not worth those prices
The property overall is fine, just old, but in a crackhead area
Great
Just okay
Tv in the room was not working
Me gusto la atencion de los empleados
Checking in
Only thing that stood out was when checking in , attendant lady seemed a bit not too helpful when my card didn't go through on the first try. She gave me my card and had a frustrated look. I cleaned the chip and then it went through, she was like "oh wow" look.
Incredible staff. Wonderful room. Excellent views. A little dirty but worth it. Close to downtown and Fry Bread House!
Will not stay in this hotel again. The staff in the evening was rude.
No microwave, burn marks on tub, door fell of the hinge's to the bathroom
such a beautiful room!! super spacious and comfortable bed. there was no noise at all during our stay, such a vibe
Very clean and comfortable although some things may be outdated, and all staff was amazing. Still no complaints well definitely stay again
The Clarendon Hotel is a hidden gem! The pool area is super cool, and the rooms are stylish and comfortable. The Wi-Fi is great as well
Not what I expect, very poor old furniture,
I was charged twice and had to spend 30 minutes with the manager to get it straightened out. The rooms were old and not very clean. The whole place smelled like marijuana, which it stated "all adult" facility, but did not realize that is what it meant. Dining was not great, expensive for small portions and not everyday food.
Awesome little hotel
The pool was beautiful and the music was good
I had a fabulous time and all the staff were courteous and helpful
Good and affordable
The room was nice and big but also very affordable. The only complaint is that the TV was not a smart TV.
Only good thing was the comfort of the bed everything else from the service to the room was just very poor to my taste. Also the girl at the front desk had no personality.
The staff at at this hotel Make you feel welcome from the moment you get there until the moment you leave. They are always, courteous, helpful, caring, and responsive. The whole vibe of the property is like some kind of resort on the other side of the world the perfect staycation.
Can't wait to be back!
This hotel is a whole vibe - even on a Monday night! We got to enjoy the hot tub while a dj played great music. Check in was smooth. The staff were friendly, except the lady at the desk during checkout.
I liked that they have some rooms that allow the smoking and consumption of "non tobacco"/green products. 😁 They have a cool and fun pool area and a large hot tub! The design on the walls look very cheap throughout the hallways and rooms. the coffee machine had dust in the area where you add water. I liked the little mini fridge (came with 2 free waters!) but hate that theres no microwave. The shower is built into the ceiling and i dont particularly care for the "rainfall' style showers. They granted me a late check out and i was grateful. Overall, I enjoyed my stay and would return.
I used this location as an amazing staycation great downtown area.
Nice property. Food at the restaurant was over priced and way too spicy.
2024-We went for my Husbands birthday(9/20-9/22) the property and staff were amazing as we walked in! Good atmosphere, music, helpful and friendly staff. Found our room pretty easy, we did get a 4/20 friendly room so the front room definitely had a smoke hint( more cig than 4/20) but they did have an air purifier(so that helped a bit) the initial walk through seemed ok, the furniture is old and knocked from being moved around/hit( not big deal)we kept looking around and noticed tbh at house keeping needs to be retaught BASICS… they didn’t removed the glass from end tables and there was crumbs n dog hair underneath them, the lamp post in the front room had greasy/white handprints on them… it was just yucky. For the price we paid we expected it to be cleaner. The pool was nice, we like they didn’t allow kids as well. We went n the roof wasn’t accessible so we were a bit upset bout that lol but over all it was good! SHOUT out to the bartenders, they were great!!!
So disappointing. From the moment we turned onto the street the hotel was located on, there was a homeless encampment. When we walked up to the lobby that was hard to find as there are no signs, my elderly mother was approached by a girl going through withdrawals and asked for drugs. As we checked in a 10-12 yo female came to the front desk and asked security to walk her to her room. We had 2 rooms and needed to both change our rooms because nothing worked and furniture was all scratched up. Doors were unlocked, lights didn’t work, tv didn’t work, room smelled like a dirty ashtray, no phones in the room, beds were slanted, none of the furniture matched, no where to put toiletries on the sink or in the shower. One room had 8 mirrors, one room had zero. Only 1 trash can in the room, toilet seats were very low to the ground, too many lamps placed around the room that didn’t even work. We ended up checking out 2 days early and finding a different hotel. Yuck. Don’t waste your time or money. They wouldn’t refund the night we stayed but Travelocity refunded the remaining night.
The staff was excellent. Marty as the barkeep was a no brainer. Could easily walk to food and mass transit. Very quiet at night. Did not use pool/spa, but many did. Oh and chicken wings were superb. I will return.
Over all its a nice hotel with friendly helpful staff. The accommodations however were not very handicapped accessible. My wife is in a wheelchair with very limited walking capital. The elevator was so small her wheelchair just barely fit with the both of us in the elevator. The rooms were small with the beds taking up the majority of the room, she was confined to one side of the room, getting her into the restroom was a very daunting task because of this. The rooms were nice but not worth the price. It is in a neighborhood that had a lot of homeless activities as well.
The property didn’t seem to be that old, but was a bit run down. There was an event on that had taken over the entire pool area, not sure what it was, but it involved different coloured wrist bands and was definitely for the younger demographic. Serviceable place for a one night stop over, wouldn’t consider staying there longer.
Cute!!!
The cutest place ever! Adults only so no children holding up anything, that was a plus. It’s a very “Love Island” vibe and I loved it. Will be back
It was great
Very convenient for my value and comfort!
Great experience!
The hotel was very presentable online however in person it is an older motel that has had some updated but done poorly. The 1st room that was given to me was unbelievably cold, the TV did not work, the shower head leaked, the paint was flaking off in the bathroom, everything about the hotel was very icky. I tried to cancel my 2nd night but expedia wes impossible and i gave in and stayed a 2nd night.
A great room, but a little haunted in 333
The place seemed haunted…weird occurrences related to paranormal activity were evident…and I am not one given this type of assertion or conclusions. Now, I will scoff less when hearing about such phenomen. Otherwise it was a great room!
The beds are to die for!
Beautiful room. Very clean climate control ( 110°outside). Only downside is there is no microwave otherwise great room. Offered cannabis friendly room for slightly few dollars more. I feel it's worth the few dollars. The beds are to die for!
It wasn't too far from downtown, bathroom needs more lighting
Na
The staff was great. The property was not as presented online. Very old motel like.
