Was supposed to have a view or tub and didn’t get either. Booked in advance snd requested this. Kept being locked out of room with keys not working. Someone went into the room, even though we had the privacy button on and lights were turned on.

Absolutely disappointing. We booked a double room and were given one king bed for our family of five. The front desk simply told us to deal with it and that although it was their mistake they had no other rooms available and therefore could do nothing for us. My husband (who is recovering from back surgery) and I slept on the floor. I am so sad as we were making this trip to the Chatwal an annual family tradition and after the awful way we were treated we will never stay there again. Beware - I witnessed the front desk berating multiple guests. The hotel is not worth the price. There are plenty of other options nearby with better accommodations and professional, kinder staff.

Wonderful hotel. Easy access to shops, attractions. Excellent rooms, showers, all impressive. Excellent service, great food in the restaurant. However, we could not use the patio due to the great many nearby Times Square restaurant exhausts. The smell of cooking oil was unbearable. And it also seeped through in the room. Regrettably, won't choose Chatwal again.

Disappointed

I was most disappointed that the rooms had old televisions. No smart TV;s.

The Chatwal is very central to Times Square and other iconic buildings. The members of staff were extremely helpful and accommodating. We had the best trip to NYC and will recommend the Hotel to others

When I arrived to this hotel in New York, it was so cute. I love the room and I love the showers. I love the spa area. The only thing was the swimming pool you could not use after hours. Everything else was excellent very safe.

Classy hotel that was surprisingly quiet and intimate given its proximity to Times Square. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Great spot

Great spot if you are going to shows or using a base to see all the attractions of New York. Less than a block from Time Square and easy walk to subway to get around where you need to go.

The customer service was excellent. The hote staff have a warmth and we found them to be are exceedingly responsive and eager to address any issues raised. We will continue to return.

Disappointing. I would not consider this hotel on par with NYC 5 star hotels. While there, the A/C in the entire hotel was not working well. Of course hotel staff never mentioned this until we complained, after which they offered us a fan. It was 98 degrees in NYC and the room felt wet it was so hot and humid. Additionally, the images online are misleading — rooms look much larger, pool looks larger, etc. The rooms were small, this is NYC I get it but images are deceiving. We did a 2 bed room and the beds are doubles, not queen sized. Further, I purchased some yogurt and fresh pressed green juice for my family, put in the mini fridge and the next day they were warm, I guess the fridge just stopped cooling. There goes $50. Ugh. Finally, the hotel location is convenient to time square, but the street cannot be turned on from 7th Ave. so any Ubers, taxis, etc had to make a massive loop to pick us up and it caused the Ubers to continue to cancel on us. I would not stay here again, for the price there much better options in NYC.

The location is great, easy to walk or go anywhere by metro. The staff were very helpful and polite. Highly recommend.

Amazing service. Every staff person made us feel at home. The room was impeccable. The service went above and beyond what we expected. We will definitely be staying here again.

The staff was exemplary! We were celebrating a wedding anniversary and at every turn, we were provided with unexpected tokens and/or service. The accommodations were outstanding and we enjoyed the attention to details throughout the suite. Truly one of our best experiences at a hotel.

My wife and I had an amazing stay at The Chatwal. Amazing service, super courteous staff, great location, many superb walkable restaurants and the place was ultra nice and clean. Wonderful place to stay while visiting NYC.

Good staff

After issues with our first room we were moved, unfortunately the new room had a connecting door which meant we could hear the room next door. Overall for its location and staff friendliness, the hotel was good.

Top Notch!

I don’t often stay at a Hyatt, but there are very few hotels in NY with an indoor pool plus rooms with two beds! I am extremely glad I chose the CHATWAL. Overall a wonderful experience from start to finish. Lovely room, friendly and helpful staff, quiet rooms even though half a block from Times Square- everything was wonderful. Would highly recommend.

Great Stay! The Chatwal is back to having all their amenities open and It's as good as ever.

This was a beautiful hotel and the perfect spot for our NYC trip! We went to the 100th sold out show of the Billy Joel concert at Madison Square Garden and dinner, no more than 15 min in a taxi! And, 2 Broadway shows, also walkable! The bellman was always kind and hailed us a taxi and the rooms were gorgeous with a heated toilet seat as the bonus! We will be back!

A beautifully appointed and well kept establishment. All of the staff we encountered were effective and delightful. The amenities are plentiful and luxurious.

THE HOTEL in the theatre district.

Great hotel in the heart of the theatre district. Wonderful service and attentive staff. Dinner at the Lamb’s Club is an added bonus. Entire experience was 5 star!

Excellent on all fronts!

This hotel is absolutely premium, the accommodations, and the staff are the highest quality. The room was set up and supplied with everything I might have forgotten what I will do differently next time is book a room overlooking the city I did not have this when I stayed, and my room felt like I was in an inside cabin of a cruise ship, instead of having a balcony

Incredible hotel

Incredible boutique hotel with all the BEST room amenities, for example heated toilet seat. Also, the best hotel for theatre tickets due to being close to all venues

We go to NY frequently and have stayed at many good hotels. We would not go back to the Chatwal. The checkin process was terrible because there systems were down. After we finally checkin in, our key card stopped working. The lobby is very small and outdated One drink at the bar was $37, even high by NY's standards. The restaurant is very dark and outdated. The room itself was clean.

Great hotel!! Loved the property itself and the staff was exceptional. I would have given it a 5 star but they advertise themselves as family friendly, but they really aren't. The pool was very, very small and only opened from 10am to 7pm, which isn't very family friendly. And the room service menu didn't have any options for kids. The rooms were gorgeous, but they also need to get the heat sorted out. Our AC kept coming on and it was December. Definitely would go back with my wife though, probably not with the kids.

Great location (walked almost everywhere we went) and friendly staff! Room service included the best cheeseburger I have ever tasted anywhere! Very comfortable bed and bedding and a wonderful waterfall shower.

Best Hotel near Time Square!

I have stayed at several NY hotels and this was by far the best one yet. The rooms were clean, very comfortable, and the staff was amazing! They went over and beyond to help make our stay enjoyable. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting. Walking distance to several main attractions.

They claim to have guaranteed check-in by 4:00pm, however, they do not. We arrived approximately one hour early hoping we could check in early. They told us our room was not ready but were guaranteed to be checked in by 4:00pm. Our room was not ready until 4:20pm and we had to change and get ready for a reservation.

room was a little bit smaller than i expected but enjoyed the toilet extras and the candy. did not care for the chocolate cranberries too much. nice shower and shampoo, etc. delicious breakfast.

Excellent hotel. Perfect location in the theater district just minutes away from most major broadway shows. Able to walk everywhere. Central Park was about a 20 to 25 minute easy walk restaurant is pricey, but excellent food. Well worth the cost. Concierge is amazing and customer service is amazing.

Small boutique hotel

Amazing 3 night stay!! Staff was extremely courteous, accommodating and friendly. ( Special mention to Michael and the entire Concierge staff for their special and personalized service ) Gorgeous, spotless and quiet hotel with special touches everywhere. Large room with many amenities to make for a wonderful stay. Fantastic location for theater fans and foodies. Can’t wait to return to this very special place for a longer stay. Friendly staff; convenient location

Solid boutique hotel. Rating would have been higher but for the Lambs food quality. Not at all on par for a 5-star hotel. But overall great hotel.

I liked the quality of the room, cleanliness and the atmosphere in the lobby. The Bellboys were excellent, always friendly and helpful. The Spa was disappointing because on the day we wanted to use it it was closed. In the Spa there isn’t a sauna or steam room and also on the same day it was frustrating not to have any staff in the Spa area to ask about the facilities.

Despite being in the middle of Times Square, The Chatwal was a luxuriously restful & thoughtfully appointed oasis with THE BEST showers! Among premier hitels in NYC, this is currently our favorite.

Safety concerns

The hotel is lovely but the washroom is a concern. The floor was high gloss marble and slippery when wet. The shower set up was such that the floor always got soaked. Also you had to climb over the side of the tub without anything to hold on to.

The staff is amazing, the property is beautiful and modern, DID I SAY THE STAFF IS AMAZING especially Nikki at the front desk!!!!!

Stay hete in NYC!!

Absolutely wonderful hotel, unmatched amenities and quiet, beautiful decor and furnishings, first class service and perfect location for theater goers and foodies. With the possible exception of elaborate, top-end resorts, I have never enjoyed a hotel stay more. This is my go-to NYC hotel.

A gorgeous property in a perfect location if you're theater going. We got an upgrade to a junior suite and a beautiful gift of truffles with a warm welcome note from the Front Office Manager. Everyone was friendly and helpful. The bar and restaurant are beautiful, food was spectacular and the staff was knowledgeable and efficient. We've stayed here before and will certainly do so again.

Best hotel in NY.

The property was gloriously elegant without feeling snobby. The stars were amazing and extremely accommodating. The only disappointment was the lack of a city view (not the fault of the hotel just a minor thing) but would definitely recommend and would stay again

Stayed in Library Suite. Not an incredible view but the inside of the suite was amazing. Suede walls, leather on all surfaces. Two incredible bathrooms. Luxury, priced reasonably. 1/2 block off the center of Times Square, minutes to several theaters.

NYE 2022/23 After arriving back to our room at 2am and going to bed we were awakened by water pouring from the ceiling. I called the from desk and they sent a mechanic in at 5am after an hour they shut off whatever was causing the water in our room next to the bed. The hotel did not move us to a new room did not offer a discount or refund just free breakfast.

The Chatwal was fantastic. I loved the decor, location and the Lambs Club restaurant had the best pancakes I have ever tried! I would definitely book there again. Thank you for a beautiful Christmas.
