Stayed with my wife and parents in two rooms. Ate in restaurant.Rooms were comfortable and spacious. Menu in restaurant was probably the largest I have ever seen with not only a Christmas menu but a regular menu plus a Indian menu ,which I went for.
Excellent stay, good food and excellent beer.
Fabulous stay apart from the white emergency exit sign inside the room, over the door-kept us both awake for most of the night. Mixed with the snoring staff member who was behind room 15 😂 We would return.
Friday night in Stratford.
We stayed overnight with friends in another room. Enjoyed a meal in the restaurant which was nice. Breakfast was also very enjoyable. Bar closed at 10pm although signage indicated it would be open till 11 it wasn’t a massive issue but why put a sign up if it’s not the case.
We are travelling from city to city. It is what we call a "tent room". This was "more than a tent"!!! The hotel was EXCELLENT!!! We were only there for one night, has good showers and beds and restaurant. We had supper in the restaurant (they had live music the night we were there), the breakfast was included and excellent. We would go again for one night, or many nights to explore the surrounding area.
Good quality updated pub in a rural location
Rural quiet location. Easy parking. Room was exceptional and included a double and 2 single beds in a separate attached room (evidently a family arrangement when required!). Food and drink excellent, service very good. Ambiance good in the bar/restaurant.
Definitely recommend!
Wonderful stay and the staff are both professional and friendly. Loved my dinner in the restaurant (I don't normally eat alone preferring to go to my room) however felt very comfortable to dine in the restaurant - food was EXCELLENT! Room was modern and clean with a lovely bathroom and shower. Bonus for me was the electric car charging - made my return trip much easier.
Great stay. Food was great.
A lovely building and covered outdoor space, Superior Double room was small and a very small shower room. Should have booked a king... staff grumpy except two your staff and the older lady on the first evening. On a busy road which didn’t quietened until 1pm. Sound seemed to travel from the corridor (had people screaming on the second night) and the adjoining rooms.
Very good service
Our only problem was our room window had a Venetian blind and there was a major building flood light next to our window that kept us awake on night one as it didn’t go off till 3am. We covered the blind for night two. Easy fix would be a thick curtain over the window and blind. Otherwise great place and great food.
Good
Good, would definitely return
From arrival were welcomed & shown to our room which was excellent. Very clean. Meals were also excellent with a good choice of menu. It didn't help only having a short stay as we would have liked to sample more from the menu. Breakfast was perfect & cooked to order. Staff were friendly & very helpful. The outside area was well kept with beautiful flowers, a lovely tranquil area for quiet contemplation. Would definitely recommend this hotel & will definitely be going again.
This was our second visit, many years apart. The Inn was well kept, friendly, accommodating. The room was so clean and lovely. The food was fabulous. A very excellent place to stay.
High quality stay
Wonderful place to stay. Lots of extra touches. High quality accommodation, would definitely recommend
Disappointing
Stayed here whilst attending the nearby Midlands Air Festival. The rooms are generally prefixed with the word “superior” but there’s nothing superior about them. The room that we had was small, noisy (facing the road) and the bed was extremely uncomfortable - the mattress was clearly worn out and you could feel the springs through it. Not somewhere that we’ll be returning to
Very enjoyable stay
We enjoyed our stay at the Blue Boar. The staff were very friendly, the room was comfortable and large. The restaurant had an excellent selection of very good meals. Breakfast was good although a little early for us, it was served from 7 to 8.30. Overall we would recommend it. Very convenient for the park and ride into Stratford.
Happy chappy
Really enjoyed the stay and the food
Hidden gem
Spent two nights at The Blue Boar - superb location. Mattress on first night a bit uncomfortable but moved to a second room for next night, which was excellent. Ate in restaurant on last evening and Indian platter was a revelation, which we’d recommend. Will certainly be going back.
Bad experience
Stayed for 3mights. No aircon in the rooms, extractor fan in bathroom not working and full of dust and muck. They don’t make the bed just pull the quilt over. Had an Indian meal that was sent back as was too salty.
Great breakfast and wonderful staff! Room was very comfortable, and had everything we needed!
Lovely room, seemed recently refurbished. Good dining choice, chose the Indian menu on both occasions. Nice servers in the restaurant. Will try to start here next time.
The food and service was excellent. The only negative was the noise in our room while the dining/ bar was open. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable.
I was very pleased with my stay the room and staff were excellent
Comfortable rooms & Great food
Great little pub/restaurant with very well kept and well appointed rooms. Being an old building the access to the bedrooms is up a narrow, steep staircase but since last year it appears the bathrooms my father and I had have been updated. Food is exceptional with wide choice of A La Carte, Indian Favourites & Pub Classics. I will definitely stay again when in the area.
Lovely!☺️
Lovely place to stay and eat
We had a great two night stay and enjoyed breakfast and evening meals. The menu is much better than your normal pub food and the Indian dishes are worth trying. Cannot be faulted for the comfort of the bedrooms bar and restaurant, service provided by the staff and quality of the food and drink
The Blue Boar Alcester A Great Stay.
The staff was very helpful and the choice in the restaurant was exceptionally good. We had an amazing stay and will be returning again.
The carpet was dirty, the room was freezing cold. Arrived after 10pm and the heating was turned off and the windows were wide open. No mat in the bathroom, no handtowels, only 2 big towels on the bed.
Our experience
Our room was not a comfortable temperature as the heating was on very low and could not be adjusted. The bar area was also not a comfortable temperature and we had to wear coats. Our room was directly above the bar area where a group of musicians played from 8pm to 11.10. We decided to stay up to listen to the music which was enjoyable but someone who just wanted a good nights sleep would not have been impressed. The building is old and the floor boards in our room were particularly creaky. This could easily be resolved by investing some money into repair and maintenance. The staff were very efficient and friendly
Great little country pub! Excellent food and comfortable rooms.
Good night's stay, nicely cooked breakfast. The charging point in the car park is a boon for EV owners.
excellent place to stay oldy worldy food great staff amazing value for money
Excellent.
Very good pub/hotel. Very well priced too. Excellent.
Friendly staff, great coffee, excellent food, lovely atmosphere and music selection outstanding! Two room suite well laid out for our group. Modern bathroom!
Beautiful and welcoming. We arrived late at night and it was so beautiful all lit up! Perfect combination of modern amenities and an old historic building. Ivy and flowers all over the building and patio. Near all the Shakespeare sites. Delicious breakfast. Friendly staff. Wish we could have stayed longer. Highly recommend.
Great country inn
Lovely country inn with masses of character. Beer garden a great place to sit in the sun and the food was excellent. Really close to Stratford park and ride to get into town. Very friendly staff.
Really lovely b&b. Room was clean and well furnished. Staff were really lovely. Only feedback is for a vegan/Vegetarian full english option. Was really disappointed with no veggie sausages and my alternative of beans on toast was looking a little sad as I was only given one piece of toast and the same small size portion of beans as the full english. Other than that would stay again :)
Ok for a overnight stay
Lovely country pub got a warm welcome from the staff.Food was lovely but a tad expensive if your on a budget.Breakfast was very greasy & swimming in oil toast arrived after i had finished my meal which let down the overall experience of my stay.It wont be on my list off regular stays. The room was ok but nothing special i could hear the occupants of the room next door talking when in the bathroom.
Great stop over
Room, bedding, towels and bathroom all very clean. I came into contact with 5 members of staff and saw some inter act with other customers and it is clear to a person they are committed to put customer satisfaction first, very impressed. It doesn't try to be something its not, a great pub with clean and tidy well equipped rooms, staff superb.
Charming place to stay. Great room and bathroom. Staff were lovely. Stayed two nights.
Highly recommended
Very nice rooms and the restaurant was excellent.
Everything needed without unnecessary frill so good value for money
We had a lovely enjoyable overnight stay here. A well provided en-suite room well serviced and a lovely meal beautifully cooked and presented by super staff. A lovely place.
Disappointing stay.
When i arrived there was no directions of where to check in, i asked the bar staff and he abruptly told me to wait my turn, i then said i was only asking where to check in, he then whispered something, i can only imagine was about me to the other customer who was clearly a regular. The room as clean and had all the necessary amenities. But had an emergency light in which the charging led lit the whole room up for the entire night., therefore neither me or my daughter got a good nights sleep. Breakfast was awkward as we were standing around waiting for someone to seat us, the serving staff were doing their best to serve the everyone at the same time, but it took a long time to get my breakfast. Overall, very disappointed at my stay.
Service was very informal maybe I’m old fashioned but don’t want to be called mate was a bad start Stop serving food at 9pm Music downstairs and was jazz Thread bare carpet on rear stairs Very steep entrance to rooms Carpet dirt in hallway Items stored in hallway during stay Tv tiny
Blue boar
Staff and owners very nice a very relaxing stay
Fantastic country pub and hotel with excellent size rooms. I got an upgrade to a family suite, which was a nice touch, as I love plenty of space. Delicious cooked breakfast in friendly times was a cherry on a cake.
All good - recommend.
Friendly staff, good food, comfortable bed and a good room size, outside fan was slightly noisy during the night
Fine, but disappointing
Tried to choose something away from the big chains but overall disappointed. Convenient car park. Restaurant downstairs is clean, tidy and seemed popular although we didn't have an evening meal there. On first look, our room was nicely presented (room 12), but then we noticed lots of big, very obvious cobwebs- not 'disgusting' but also very easy to clean so not sure why they hadn't been. Teaspoons with cups didn't look particularly clean so needed washing before use. Good tea facilities - plenty of milk and sugar provided. Bed looked nice, but it turned out the mattress was very thin and we could feel every spring, so not the confiest night. Bathroom was clean and tidy and equipped with shower gel etc. We stayed over on bank holiday Thursday to Friday am so as it was a week day breakfast was 7 til 8.30- which was a touch early for us but I understand why this was. Breakfast was fine - asked if we both wanted a full english and said yes- not offered a variety of options though (e.g. type of egg/ eggs on toast etc) which would have been nice. Buffet option was just cereal. Lots of potential but not great for just under £100 for 1 night.
Good location for Stratford and other towns. Good evening menu selection, breakfast menu a bit limited, offered cereal toast and combination of English breakfast only. Would have liked avocado on toast for example. Times for breakfast limited to 7-8.30, would have been good to have. later breakfast. Comfy beds, good shower. The room was not serviced or cleaned at all during our week long stay, so no clean towels or tea and milk, toilet roll not replenished. Avoid rooms 10 and 11, there is a locked cupboard in room 11 that has a boiler that fires up frequently throughout the night, sounds like a jet engine. It woke us in both rooms even though we wore ear plugs. Very dusty skirting boards and a couple of dead spiders that looked like they had been there for a while, bathroom and WC's not cleaned during our stay.No bulbs in table lamps so room dingy, unable to open windows slightly as they fly wide open then difficult to reach them to close. Lots of parking, not disabled friendly due to steep and multiple stairs. Friendly staff, good selection of drinks and meals in the evening reasonable prices, and ice cosy seating areas.
The room was very comfortable and well presented. The pub staff were friendly. Food and beer selection was good I had the pie one night and it was the best pie I have had in a pub. Car park was secure . I eould definately re visit
Convenient location that fits our needs for our one-night stay. Highly recommend The Blue Boar Inn great food and staff are wonderful.
Disgruntled holiday maker
1st night meal was good. Waiter very friendly and helpful. Fire alarm went off twice later that night. No fire procedure. Got told someone was smoking in the room. No room count on evacuation. 2nd time it went off we were left standing outside nobody came to tell us it was ok to go back in. I am talking early hours. Still no room count. Heard the person who came say he would just turn the alarm off. Then he never re appeared. Really didn’t feel happy about that. No breakfast menu. Had to ask for a cup of tea. If you asked they said they had cornflakes. No fruit juice. Just felt they didn’t want people in for breakfast as if it was too much effort. It would be nice to see what was available without having to ask. Nobody present this morning on check out so couldn’t voice our opinion. Room was clean but very tired. Plumbing was very poor. The noise when we could flush the toilet would of woken people up if we flushed during the night. Found the fire door open 2 mornings. Worn carpet on the stairs which could be dangerous. Kettle did not switch itself off. I know the building is old but it really need some TLC. Would not stay again. This was our 1st break away in over 2 years so very disappointed. This is a true account of our stay dated October 21
Fantastic stay
Beautiful room very clean. Staff excellent and food was top notch. Would recommend anyone to stay here. Perfect for a stay to visit Stratford upon Avon or Warwick.
Friends trip
Fabulous family room for us three friends with two separate bedrooms. Dinner and breakfast exceptional as well as the service from everyone.
Staying over for a wedding
Lovely stay, really lovely staff and so helpful!! Nice and clean and would definitely stay again! Lovely little B and B. Would definitely recommend.
Nice little pub
Staff were helpful, especially the bar tender, the room I had booked didn't have a king size bed as specified but he was happy to move us to another room. Evening meal was really nice as well.
Lovely location very quaint
my trip
food fantastic room had road noise but comfortable
The blue bore inn was beautiful. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The owner/manager was super helpful and very accommodating. Our room way spacious and extremely comfortable. We will be visiting again.
Great friendly place
The team were fantastic - nothing too much trouble. The building is old and quirky with a fascinating well set in the floor of the bar. Food was great - the menu is varied and interesting. The bedroom we stayed in was spacious and comfortable. We thoroughly enjoyed our weekend stay and would happily return.
Comfortable functional confusing with no breakfast menu
Picturesque Pub with great food.
I stayed at the Blue Boar as it was local to where my work was this week. Accommodation was basic, but ok for a few nights. The food and service was all round excellent, efficient and polite staff.
Mediocre
Staff were very pleasant. The room was ok but extremely small however I realise it’s a very old building. Bed uncomfortable. Evening meal unremarkable. Breakfast very good.
The evening meal was amazing, compliments to the chef, really nice food. I loved the baileys hot chocolate which finished off the meal.
Great Stay
Staff friendly. We had a problem with heating in room and the room was changed for us very quickly.Plenty of sanitizer in all places including all bedrooms.Food was excellent with plenty of choice for all tastes.
The jury is out...
Ok ish. People are looking for reassurance in the pandemic and I didn’t see much of it at the Blue Boar. Other hotels are trying harder - it was quite crowded in the bar area but the plus is the food is good. Also the room smelled slightly damp and a drain smell was evident too. The rooms are cheapish though - so I guess you get what you pay for.
Stay here.....but expect to clean your own room!!
2 Night stay. Not happy with cleanliness on first night , I would not have dared to walk on carpet in bare feet(stained and sticky) No TV Remote in room so TV useless. Real problem was when I returned on the 2nd evening. Room had not been cleaned, bed left unmade obviously no one had been in the room since I left for work the same morning. I have stayed at this place many times in the past but I will not stay another night in this establishment. Management appear uninterested as busy serving drinks in the bar.
he blue boar
Good service, comfortable room
weekend break
Basic room , services impacted by Covid-19 so not sure how normal service standards are ? Very nice location in the countryside for a peaceful getaway
There was no remote for the television we found food in the draws draws weren't very clean and the shower was difficult to use
Food excellent, beds not very comfortable and pillows hard, staff very nice and helpful. Good for overnight stay.
Good as normal . TV stuck on one channel though
Whilst the bed was comfy and room quite spacious the place could do with updating, wall fitted shower did not get hot so had to use the handheld fitting on the bath so water everywhere, towels feel old and scratchy, the Wifi only works if you have a facebook account, does not really cater for dietary requests at breakfast (asked for non-dairy milk a week before, could not provide, just offered herbal tea instead on phone but no herbal tea actually offered on the day, and could not have cereal due to milk) cooked breakfast a bit disappointing, don't even ask how you want your eggs. Upside was the walls are quite thick so couldn't hear pub below or neighbouring rooms.
👍nice place to stay
Nice break
The pub is very nice, friendly staff plus nice food. The room was comfortable, a little dated.
great Pub, recommended for anyone driving through the area
I like the old traditional pub/restaurant The atmosphere The food
Olde world with a modern twist. Bedrooms were small but comfy although the heating was on all night ( too stuffy). Breakfast choice was good and enough of it. Evening meal was typical pub fare which was trying to be one step up but all in all satisfactory and good size portions. If visiting local area again would probably book again.
Great pub
Great food and staff were excellent. Nice atmosphere will definitely be booking again.
Disappointing
The inn was cosy and the room was warm, but we were above the kitchen so it was very noisy until around 10pm and then again from 6.15am. There was no kettle in the room (which was replaced a few hours after asking) and the television didn’t work. Staff were busy looking after pub customers so we felt less of a priority. Breakfast was a buffet selection of cereals and yoghurt and cooked food on request. Didn’t feel particularly welcomed or well looked after so wouldn’t recommend.
Lovely period property with great family room, limited choice for breakfast but very nice. Would stay again.
Blue Boar. Good in my opinion. Tweeks needed tho!
Stayed here a few times and it’s clean and warm. There is a bar and they serve good beer and food. There are quite a lot of free view tv channels to watch. Things I’d like to see improved is the fact that during the week, breakfast is only served till 8:30 am. Although there were a couple of contractors, it appeared most of the people who joined me at 8:25 were also not away on business and appeared to be tourists. It would therefore be nice to have breakfast served till 10am and make checkout 11am not 10:00am. Perhaps a little more research from the owners will reveal exactly who their clients are? That said I will stay there again.
Weekend away
Our stay was lovely with very friendly staff. The food was delicious and so reasonable priced. We ate both evenings there. Our only complaint would be where our room was. The room (no 16) could be used for a disabled person if needed. It is on ground floor but next to stairs and a fire door which banged when being used by people cutting through from the bar area or the rooms above to the car park. This banging for a disabled person could cause them stress. I know we found it quite annoying late at night and at 6am in the morning. The fire emergency exit light in the room above door has an annoying glow when lights are off. We actually covered it with a towel so we could sleep. We will stay again but not in that room. We will recommend the Blue Boar Inn to friends and family who want to visit Stratford on Avon as it is well situated for discovering an interesting and historical place. Thank you Blue Boar Inn for lovely weekend.
Great 3 nights.
We had a great time at The Blue Boar. Our room (No15) was bigger than the photos suggested and very comfortable. We have stayed in other similar set ups before and suffered with noise from late music and the car park emptying but this was very quiet and just right for us. The food was also very good and it seemed nothing was too much trouble for them. It is also very handily located for Stratford and Warwick. There are several places to visit in the area but parking as we did south of the river in Stratford Upon Avon near the recreation ground and walking over the bridge to the town to view the sites and shop is recommended. Very friendly and helpful staff. Will be going again.
Best in area
Always a great stay
when we arrived at the hotel we were not told about which door to use unlocked when we get back on an evening out, so we arrived back to find the hotel and car park in darkness we went to a window that had a light on it was the chef he told us to go to an end/fire escape door to get in fortunately it was unlocked as no had said the room key would unlock it if locked. In the morning breakfast is served between 7am and 8-30am when we went down to the restaurant at 7-20am it was locked and no one was around at about 7-45 the cleaner arrived we explained our dilemma she went up stairs to the chef,s room < his day off > to wake him, at that moment the Manager arrived he did apologise and cooked breakfast but i think overall they forgot we were even staying that previous evening on that basis i asked for a discount if i were to come again but have not heard back so i will not visit again.
Not very warm welcome
Breakfast ok, but not overly warm staff.
Nice pub, rooms OK a little tired but acceptable. Food lovely in the restaurant, only downside was the noise from the road. Road isn't busy but is very close to the hotel and busy at times. Would stay again but ask for a room on the other side of the e pub
Great location, nice atmosphere
Great location for a nearby event. Spacious room, nice bathroom, good meal in the evening with very helpful service. Breakfast modest but adequate, freshly cooked. Some confusion with staff about seating and taking orders but ok eventually.
Excellent food, interesting history
Booking wasn’t even registered with accommodation . This has happened before . Service was slow . Not usual . Room was noisy as air con machine on all night outside .
Good value for money
This is our second visit to the Blue Boar and I travel with family. Booking in was easily completed and our rooms were comfortable and clean. We loved the breakfasts and the evening meals in the restaurant were superb. I will definitely be back. I was surprised to find that Temple Grafton had limited amenities and this needs to be taken into account when travelling.
Unique property amazing service, clean and nice meals
The Blue Boar has everything you need for your stay from breakfast to late night. The staff is very friendly and helpful.
