The hotel should be the best location as a tourist.
One of the best hotels we have stayed at. The renovations are incredible. We have stayed at other hotels that have claimed to have renovations recently done but the Bellevue blew them out of the water. Last year we stayed at the Ritz this time of year… the Bellevue far exceeded that stay. Will certainly be back!
I have been staying at this hotel for years, and have loved it. It's a great old hotel in a great location, and the free use of the Sporting Club gym is definitely an added plus. However, it is presently under significant renovation/construction, which was not disclosed to me when I booked the reservation, and there is a lot of inconvenience that comes with that. Finally, there is no longer free coffee coffee service offered in the morning. I got charged $10.08 for two cups of regular black coffee!
Issue with hotels.com booking experience
Hotel stay was excellent, however the booking from hotels.com was an issue. Hotel manager couldn’t find the booking due to mis communication from Hotels.com to hotel property. We had to wait for over an hour for them to sort it out.. and then not all the booking details like breakfast included were past on. Overall the hotel staff was very collaborative and properly was nice, the issue was mainly with hotels. Com booking experience
Great hotel / Average food and beverage
Overall all the amenities were excellent. The service in your restaurant the Pergola was below average. The gentlemen who appeared to be the manager was not friendly or made us feel welcome at breakfast. We were the only ones there at 7:30am. The service was somewhat attentive although would disappear for extended periods of time. 18% predetermined gratuity for a buffet breakfast was a bit presumptuous. We stopped there for a drink on Saturday nite and again not an inviting atmosphere.
Every thing was fine except for all the elevators too many. Different flooors. Lobby elevators 4 of them. One or two don’t go to 16 th floor where I was staying. No sign stating that. Need more light in room. Stayed in 1637. $$$$. $950. Not enough light in room.
Property is beautiful and undergoing a significant renovation. People who work there were great - hope they stick around and provide the same great service after the renovation is completed!
It was strange to get to our room and see - instead of a street view or any sort of view that offers natural light - we saw a ballroom. Where a man was standing. Looking at us. NO THANKS BEBE.
Very dated interior. Towels and toiletries not in room, had to ask Restaurant closed but no prior notice (and advertising within the hotel providing hours which ended up being inaccurate.
I am VERY disappointed in this place! I requested a city view, didn’t get it, requested a room with a bathtub, didn’t get it! There were supposed to be robes in the room, NONE! No restaurants were open in hotel, my room had torn sheets, and no where to actually plug my electronics in! For the price I paid, I certainly expected a better experience!!!!!
This place has gone downhill. If check in as a certain time, the room needs to be ready. You already have one of the latest check ins around (4pm) and travelers rely on this. Feels like a bunch of kids trying to run their first hotel.
Our room is large and rather without personality but we like it. There were no bathrobes and they were not provided until I asked a second time, 5-1/ hours later. The phone in the room either doesn't work or is too hard for us to figure out. The room has been very cold but a friendly service technician came up and found the previous tenant had found the room too warm so the unit had been set to provide only cold air. The temperature had been quiet for a number of days but lately it has been in the high sixties during the day and down to freezing at night. We're still waiting on an extra blanket but it looks like we won't need it. There are loud guests in the hallway and it's past midnight. Also, only one of the robes has a belt, but I may have dropped it since they gave me robes at the front desk and the belts were not attached. I filled this out because I received a request to submit concerning our check-in experience, but the questions include much more.
Great experience at the Bellevue
The website said newly renovated. My room was not renovated, it was dated. I called the front desk to send a cot to the room, it never arrived. The elevator was dirty.
I know it will be renovated soon. Only problem right now was the single functioning elevator
Meh
I found the front desk to be cool, and was generally underwhelmed by my welcome. It also seemed understaffed. I found the room extremely mediocre with aging infrastructure, and I could not get hot water out of the tap. There were less expensive options on your site, and I felt that paying over $400 a night. Should’ve got me a better experience.
Great historic hotel in downtown Philadelphia. The staff were excellent. The room was good for the age of the hotel. My one major complaint was the noise from outside. From 9pm throughout the night, dirt bikes and loud vehicles drive recklessly down the road echoing into the hotel. There is no noice insulation. This is a major problem and will keep people from visiting this city if things do not change.
Historic Hotel in heart of busy downtown. Walking distance from theater and many eateries and bars!
Very oil and congested look hotel. Rooms are not that great also.
The property is in a great location, however it is very old.
2 day 1 night
The receptionists were great. The rooms were amazing. The location was perfect. So many restaurants and historical places are within walking distance.
It was ok, very old and elegant visually but all the services were far from each other, it wasn’t your standard hotel
The stay was great. The room smelled of cleaner or some version of disinfectant. It was not unpleasant, but it was prominent. The bed was comfy and the gym equipment was great.
Historic hotel, but had modern upgrades. Very central location. Sad that the food court and shops were not open, but heard that they are working on bringing them back. The restaurant had great food and service.
Didn't service room between days,
I was excited to stay at the Bellevue but upon arriving the hotel lobby seemed dingy and musty smelling. The layout was confusing and we had to get help from an employee to find the checkout. We were given no direction prior to our stay in regards to the location of their parking facility. I had to go inside and ask while my husband drove aimlessly around the streets of Philly. The elevators were a bit scary, even for an old building. They are in the middle of renovations, which is understandable but some of the stairs led to nowhere. Trying to avoid the creepy elevators seemed impossible. Our room was nice with the exception of the bathroom toilet paper holder falling off the wall. It was quickly fixed when I brought it to the staffs attention. The restaurant on the 19th floor is beautiful! The food was good and the staff was excellent. We decided to cut our stay short and move on with our travels because we were in all honesty disappointed with the hotel itself, especially for the price! Parking was an additional $45 per day and there were extra fees tacked on when we checked in for "incidentals"... The staff was professional and very nice but the hotel did not meet our expectations.
The Bellevue is a very unique experience due to the hotel's history. Pros: Very conveniently located in the heart of the city, unique architectural elements, lots of history. Cons: Very loud facing Broad Street throughout the night (ATVs, dirt bikes, slingshots, etc). We asked to move rooms and were told that they were sold out, however we saw very few other hotel guest during our stay. I know the noise is a City of Philadelphia problem, however, the hotel was not accommodating in helping the situation. Also, our room was only cleaned once during our 5 day stay.
Overall going great!
Beautiful setting but disappointing service
Took about 2 hours for us to check into the hotel was told we would be comped at the restaurant in the hotel so we went and enjoyed ourselves only to find out we cannot be comped until we are checked in so we had to not only wait but pay for our meals anyway and was not able to return the rest of the night because we were already late for a show
Reserved for 4 guests, with breakfast and parking. No parking, and .1.3/4 breakfast ($28 pp but capped at $50 breakfast credit). The rooms smells old and the hallway carpet is dirty. The conveyor/elevator to pick up luggage is completely dysfunctional.
This was a great hotel. It's located near city hall and a lot of restaurant options near the hotel. Also, it's only a 15 minute walk to Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell center. The rooms were really nice and spacious. Its in a great location.
Easy parking with minimum walking distance to restaurants and tourist spots. Unfortunately the hotel is outdated and overpriced. Our room was not cleaned fully and the trash was full of someone elses dental floss, soaps and other items. For the price, we probably wouldnt stay again.
Some of the fixtures e.g. bathroom knob, door latch are in poor condition and do not match the reputation/quality of the hotel. Housekeeping was rather slow, took 2hours
The general staff were excellent. Management is TERRIBLE. We checked in on 6/15/23 to a Deluxe King room, pre paid through Expedia. The next morning water was pouring through the bathroom fan and the bedroom ceiling, NOT dripping, pouring. My shoes and backpack were wet. We were eventually moved to another room, NOT a comparable room. Not one single manager bothered to call us to make sure we were ok, was the other room satisfactory, were our things ok, etc. Two separate staff members told us a manager would call. Not one manager called. I wanted a refund for the difference between the Deluxe King room I prepaid for and the dark, "atrium" room we were moved to. Literally had to keep the lights on all day. The hotel told us to go to Expedia because we booked through them. I was on the phone for an hour with Expedia, who, after trying very hard, were told by the hotel that no refund would be given. Worst customer service from supposedly a 4.5 star hotel I've ever had - and we travel extensively, all over the country. Also, if anyone is thinking of staying here, the "general" restroom for hotel guests is on the 19th floor! The hotel is old and dated. It does look very grand from the outside, but is in serious need of an update. All of those things I would normally push aside, but water pouring through the ceiling and no management acknowledgement is unacceptable. We did get our cocktails on Thursday night taken off the bill. Doesn't compensate for terrible management.
We thoroughly enjoyed the hotel. It is beautiful inside, the complementary coffee on the 19th floor was appreciated and the restaurant and bar were fantastic. My only complaints were our room was not ready at 4:00 check in, the 1st day we received no cleaning service and the second day they took dirty towels, gave new towels but did not empty trash or make beds.
The property was beautiful and the service was top notch. However, we reserved a two queen bed room and we were given a king bed room. We had to have a rolling bed sent to the room to accommodate us. The rolling bed took up the remaining available space in the room. We stayed 3 nights in a crowded room barely large enough to accommodate 3 people and our luggage. My husband had to sleep on a rolling twin bed. We were told we would be moved if any double queen rooms became available, but this did not happen.
Noise from neighboring building AC was loud.
Buyer Beware
The room was inaccurately depicted online, based on what we received upon arrival. The shower curtain was extremely moldy & the shower itself was covered in someone else's hair. The sheets were torn & ill-fitting & the mattress was uncomfortable. The coffee maker in the room was broken & inoperable, as was the iron. The staff were decidedly rude upon check in & not especially helpful throughout the stay. Food options available were old & overpriced. In all, this was an unfortunate & expensive room selection.
The rooms can use some upgrades but my stay was nice.
Accommodating
The Bellevue was lovely, comfortable and well staffed. My friend and I were impressed with the accommodating friendliness of the staff even while under pressure with busy times. The restaurant was welcoming and drinks were enjoyed. The hotel was steps from the Miller Theatre for our show. We would recommend the hotel for a centralized, comfortable spot near local attractions and dining.
Great location but old hotel. Although the building is historical and beautiful, it’s old and the rooms are not renovated. The carpets are very old. Walking distance to good shopping on walnut.
Surprised that there is no alarm clock nor a full mirror in the room. The minibar was empty...
The staff was courteous, friendly, and very helpful.
Hotel rooms are very noisy. The noise is coming from outside the hotel and not from inside. The rooms need to get upgraded with noise isolating windows. The lobby and room carpets look worn out and dusty.
The room wasn’t as nice as I thought. It still looked old. Also not enough plugs by the bed. But the bathroom looked modern.
Great location
Great stay
The hotel is centrally located. I was able to walk to every museum, the convention center, and delicious restaurants from this hotel. Also, many great transportation options available in walking distance as well. I was able to take the subway from Suburban Station to-and-from the airport and walk to the hotel!
The property is very tired and run down.
I had a good experience. Really smooth check in and out. Friendly staff
Very clean
Huge hotel. Very weird layout but I did enjoy the multiple entrances and exits and the roof and the atmosphere. The elevators are a little horrifying not gonna lie. But it’s a great place nonetheless
A pleasant stay all the way around. Nice hotel, unusually HUGE rooms, clean. I would stay here again. Very comfortable place.
A stately old building struggling to deliver a three-star experience. The place needs a major renovation and a lot more staff. Simply put the hotel is a really sad shell of its former self.
Beautiful place with gorgeous rooms
The staff at the front desk and at the restaurant could not have been nicer or more helpful. Best service I’ve had in a while!
Room was large for city center. Good water pressure in the shower. Only two main elevators and one wasn’t working. They had a work around which wasn’t ideal but was fine. Parking situation is less than desirable.
Beautiful building, but needs severe modernization
Staff were amazing. Cleanliness and room was great.
It was architectural outside and inside. I’m looking forward to seeing the finished product with new shops.
Front desk was fantastic. Unfortunately the first room they assigned had a faulty lock so I couldn't enter. They upgraded me to a suite which was very nice except the bathroom hadn't been fully cleaned. They are in the middle of a renovation so I can overlook these lapses.
The front desk clerk was phenomenal. When she discovered that it was my birthday, she took the service level up another notch.
Conservatory suite was beautiful. Parking was attached to the hotel so that was so convenient. Will definitely return
The hotel is under several constructions and overall has very old furniture
Was fine.
No hot water, then they don't let you no there is a parking lot for the hotel. So we walked a few blocks.i am a senior citizen that is not fun.
Overall very good
The room was very nice, staff nice. I felt that the on-site parking cost was very high and unnecessary.
It’s a beautiful hotel, great location downtown, and our room was nice. I also appreciated that they accommodated our very late check-in. But room service—including food and maid service—were disappointing. We canceled our brunch reservation there because the food was underwhelming. And ahead of my stay I called customer service and waited 40 minutes to speak with someone.
I really enjoyed my stay. The staff were exceptional all around, the food was superb and the room was exactly as described, worthy of the 4 star rating!
Fabulous, convenient, the staff is so attentive and welcoming, gorgeous suite.
More style than substance
The building is nice, and some of the public spaces are dazzling, but overall it felt like the place needs a deep renovation instead of the surficial facelift it has clearly had. Our sink faucet leaked from the handle, the toilet paper holder fell off, and fixtures and outlets were old and worn out.
Dated, needs upgrades for price, Parking $$$$
We expected more from the Bellevue. Expensive and really needs updated. Carpets, furnitures and such all super dated and in poor condition. The shower drained super slow, standing in inches of dirty water while washing off. The parking was $82 DOLLARS FOR ONE OVERNIGHT!! I would fully recommend staying farther out for a better price and just dealing with the parking when you get here.
Unhappy
It was Terrible from the moment we arrived. There was no valet available so my husband had to look for one. When the valet showed up 15 minutes later He did not ask or help with our luggage. We had to get our bags to the room ourselves. The room was old and depressing. The bathroom was very small and poorly appointed. No makeup mirror, no shower cap, no lotion or cotton swabs etc. we stayed for 2 nights. The 2nd day we left early and when we came back the room had not been cleaned, unmade bed, no towels, no bottled water, no coffee etc. the entire stay was miserable. We will never return!!!
Just location! Nothing else positive about it
I loved how beautiful the Hotel is. So glamorous. I loved all the pearls in the dining room just beautiful. There really wasn't anything I didn't like, maybe that the food court and shops weren't opened up just yet.
Not what was advertised, HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT
The stay was horrible, the room that was advertised, was not what was reflected in the room received. The shower advertised was a glass door, I got a small bathroom with a tub. I paid for a city view and got a view of a building across the street.
I liked the location of the property. It was walking distance from the Philadelphia City Hall. I thought from the reviews that the hotel had an charm due to its dated appearance but I didn't expect for it to be so dated. The rooms are nicely sized but the bathroom could use deeper cleaning. The bathtub had weird black marks and the shower head was very old and dingy. I feel for the amount paid I was expecting a more vintage luxurious feeling rather than plain old and dirty. I would not recommend this place. It is not worth the price.
Great service at the front desk
Not as expected at all!
Rooms not clean, A/C horrible, no drawers in the room, bed and pillows not comfortable. Parking in a structure next with the hotel with no clear instructions how to pay while staying in the hotel. Lady at the Front desk was not helpful and unfriendly!
We loved our stay! After doing much research about the area and hotels, we picked the Bellevue. We were in town for a concert at the City Winery. The hotel was beautiful. The parking garage was connected and convenient. Our city view room was clean… bed oh so comfortable…room so quiet.. front desk staff helpful and professional… hotel was within walking distance to everywhere we wanted to go … we will definitely be back and will recommend to others !
Poor service for a landmark hotel.
Will stay again….
Sleeve worn property… great location…
Good location.
Enjoyable stay for a long weekend at the Bellevue. Large rooms and comfortable beds. Staff was very friendly and check in was a breeze. Hotel is located in a great spot to explore the city.
Right in Downtown area walking distance to the court house. Beautiful building
Great hotel, great hospitality.
Family visit
Comfortable and centrally located. The bathrooms are a little small but otherwise clean.
Excellent location
Excellent accommodations in the heart of central Philadelphia
Great location next to shopping, historic district, transit, restaurants etc. The hotel has kept much of its own historic aspect as well, particularly XIX which is a great small bar and breakfast area.
Old, glamorous feel with modern updates
Will be going back!
A very relaxing stay made all the better by the courteous and friendly staff.
Convenient but disappointing
The hotel is older and the exterior of the building possesses much charm. The mall attached to it was closed. The room was okay - no dresser with drawers to accommodate your clothing; there were two chairs at the table and one other chair - no sofa; the bed was comfortable; light from the courtyard was most unpleasant but the manager did give me a $20credit. It needs an UPDATE especially to rid the hallways of stale tobacco odors.
Hotel is in a landmark building that is going thru a major transition. Normal hotel services were not available to us during our 3 night stay. Room was clean and comfortable
Poor
250+ years old building with rundown condition. It should not rated as 4 star hotel. In a 4 star hotel you expect beautiful lobby with surrounding. This hotel i felt like 2 star hotel type front desk. They don't even have bathroom in the lobby. Our room have two small refrigerator but none work. Bathroom doorknob broken. My experience with this hotel is disappointing. Anyway the food quality was excellent and overall service was great. But never going back
We took a 3 day stay with a city view in Feb 2022. Unbelievable spacious corner suite with breathtaking views of Walnut St. We kept the blinds open throughout the night to immerse ourselves in the city. Siren sounds only enhanced the experience. Ideally and centrally located with staff very friendly. Due to covid restrictions bed wasn’t made or room cleaned but was advised of this and that if we needed anything to just ask. Worth ever penny. Walking distance to Museum of Art, City Hall, Reading Terminal and even Independence Hall and Penny Landing.
Seedy. Furnishings lacking (not enough furniture for the room), uncomfortable, and inconveniently organized.
Excellent location and beautiful building, comfortable but dated accommodations. Take out food from restaurant on top floor was good. At Saturday afternoon check in was given dark room facing inner back courtyard - so went to front desk and was given a front bright room upon request.
Bellevue
A beautiful old hotel with so much character. Well kept and excellent staff.
Beautiful hotel
Beautiful hotel. Great location. Very impressive fitness center!
