Cozy turn of the century inn. Definitely get the northern Michigan Hemingway vibes from staying at this place Very friendly staff.
Old star that has been maintained well, great location.
Very nice place with very nice staff. It is a old Inn, so you just have to know, no elevators, chilly rooms in the winter. We do enjoy staying here.
staff
staff is always friendly and remember repeat quests
Quaint and Quiet
We attend Petoskey each year the second week of October to view the autumn colors and visit the wineries. This location is tucked into a neighborhood. We really enjoyed everything about it. The service was great. Quiet, clean and cozy.
Very nice historic building. The restaurant was great and the staff was friendly and helpful.
Romantic Get Away
The Terrace Inn was lovely step back in time with a beautiful atmosphere and accommodations with excellent service and welcoming staff. The hotel lounge in the winter offered a fantastic opportunity to have happy our cocktails by the cozy fire place.
Great place. Friendly and accommodating staff.
I loved my stay at The Terrace Inn. So charming and set in a village of incredible Victorian houses. I felt like I was in Hallmark Christmas Movie.
Excellent customer focused service
Charming hotel with history was a delight for us!
For our overnight trip to attend an event in Petoskey, we looked for an alternative to the chain hotels. Keeping in mind that it was offseason (mid-November), the Terrace Inn was perfect...great room rate (that includes breakfast) and quite historic! Our room was charming in its historic feel...iron bedframe and transom window. Bed was comfortable; room was spacious enough and clean. There is a lobby where guests may gather. Complimentary coffee and tea. Even a piano (although we did not hear anyone playing). The Inn staff were warm and welcoming. Free parking in the hotel lot and on the street in front. Hoping to return for a longer visit!
A well managed well maintained historical inn and restaurant.
Best place for history
I booked on. 5 minute spur of tge moment before tge hotel closed at 9:00 pm. The staff was so friendly, turned tge lights on in my room and ordered a blanket for me. The property is historical and has unbelievable charm.
Belinda and the staff were most welcoming and helpful. They excel in customer service. And the facilities are well maintained and quaint. We highly recommend the Terrace Inn on your next visit to the Petoskey area.
Comfortable and relaxing environment
It is an old interesting inn and we thought our room was very quaint.
Great stay.
Wonderful weekend at the Terrace Inn. Friendly staff, clean and great food.
Amazing stay!! Adorable historic hotel
What a gem. Lovely rooms. Wonderful front desk people. Very helpful.
Property was nostalgic on the good side, parking was difficult on the bad side. Staff was great.
great help
My daughter and I were just there for 1 night but the staff went above and beyond by helping my daughter who had an accident. Thank you so much for all you did
Old hotel in a surrounded by private homes. Lovely lobby and dining area. Staff were great. We stayed on the 2nd floor and they have no elevators. Keep this in mind when booking a home. Small bathroom and room The hotel is charming because of its age. But that also lends to the smaller rooms. Most definitely would stay again.
If an early 19th century feel is of interest this place fits the bill very well. Walking in the door the impression that time stands still came to mind. From the dated floor covering to the single pain windows and original woodwork, the building itself has historical charm. That charm, however, is diminished by the lack of careful maintenance. The shower in our suite had peeling paint above the plastic wall panel. Some upgrades have been made over the years but they were done many decades ago—I’m guessing based on the materials used—and nothing much since. The bed had significant shims in order to level it off the uneven floor. The entrance sported homemade ramps to presumably make the place more accessible. It’s an old structure and it shows. That said, the staff was excellent. Hospitality was good, though be prepared for the suggested gratuity request for the “free” breakfast. All in all it was a mediocre experience.
We needed two rooms at a last minute - they were totally adorable. Perfect for our needs!
Charming, as expected, and wonderful staff. The room is exceptionally small even for an historic hotel.
Back in time, a great property Staff was awesome!
Well maintained old Inn in the middle of an historic area in Petoskey MI. Be aware that the rooms are on the small side and the hallways are somewhat "rolling" as the property has been standing since the late 1800's
Nice historic hotel. Street parking. Staff was friendly and aimed to please.
Girls night in Petoskey
Take a trip back in time with actual keys for the room and decor to match. It’s a nice inn for a night or two. Super unique! However, the walls are really thin and you can hear everything.
Lovely place to stay!
The downside: poor wi-fi and thin walls. But the upside more than made up for it. The Inn is so beautiful and makes a standard hotel seem totally devoid of ambiance. If you like character in a building, you'll love the Terrace Inn. The lobby and dining room are so lovely. The room was small but served our needs fine. The breakfast included was amazing! The hot food was great and there were plenty of other options as well. Service was friendly and good. Don't let the parking scare you, although you might have to walk half a block. The neighborhood is interesting in the best way and we enjoyed walking around. We stayed on the third floor and be warned that there is no elevator. I definitely recommend the Terrace Inn and will stay there again if in Petoskey.
The women at the front desk were very welcoming and gave great recommendations for dining and winery options. The lounge area was comfortable and homey.
It is a very old hotel so unique qualities bit still dated rooms. A step back in time re the atmosphere.
Beware the walls are very thin - was kept up most of the night by next room’s snoring. Complimentary breakfast was delicious. Staff was very nice and helpful.
Loved the history of the property. Did not like that noise traveled from above and through the wall.
The Terrace Inn, never disappoints.
If you love older, renovated facilities. This is for you. Pleasantly going back in time!
Wonderful classic hotel with friendly staff, great restaurant, very clean rooms, quiet and peaceful! Highly recommend!
It’s character
Everything was excellent
A beautiful historic building, the food and service were both excellent. Would definitely stay again!
Clean, comfortable
Nice people, clean, comfortable.
Quaint and older facility with friendly staff and good food.
It was nice to stay in an inn that had so much history. The room was good but noticed some rough around the edges like paint chipped on the windows and shower was really small. Overall though it was quite pleasant.
A wonderful historic property. Very friendly staff.
The Inn was delightful. Loved the location. The breakfast was excellent. Customer service was great. Loved the historical elements of the inn.
V
Nice small hotel at a good price mid-week
great staff
Had a great time in petosky, room had alot of dustbunnies ,otherwise a nice stay
Everything was charming and wecoming
Staff was wonderful
A nice rustic accommodation in Bay View summer vacation community. We only sed this as a place to stay in the city we were visiting so we did not utilize any of the amenities except for th restaurant which was very nice.
The inn is charming like stepping into the past. The lady at the check-in was very welcoming and allowed us to check in early once the room was ready. Be aware that parking is on the street in the neighborhood. The breakfast was outstanding and served so well.
We had a wonderful stay and really enjoyed the restaurant.
Amazing place with amazing people
This property was okay... its older and has a lot of charm... I couldn't believe they had a very limited menu... took my finacee there but there was not really anything that interested her. If you like sea food it is a great place but other than that their selctions are limted and with only one chicken dish available, all i could say was wow! None of the cocktails were items that we liked either so we ended up leaving and eating down town in a bar... parking is not difficult but it is limited... We enjoyed our simple room and the chairs to sit while we watches TV. The bed was too far way to watch that small of TV. But theybthey can only do so much. The bath tub had ruat stains. I guess i expected more from such a publicized facility. Thebgrounds were beautifulnthoughband the hisyorical charm of the neighborhood cant be beat.
Quiet neighborhood, love the history of the hotel, great welcoming service. The room was almost too cozy if theres such a thing. Will definitely return.
Great dining experience
There's street parking only but in the area you can park overnight on any unmarked street, so there plenty of parking with just a short walk.
Loved this place, great restaurant and lovely neighborhood
If you are into historic areas this place would fit the bill. Downfall, no parking available. I had to park on the street a half mile away. If you or anyone in your party smokes, description says no smoking property. It isn't just the property, it to s the entire neighborhood. Check in was weird, though the staff is friendly, the woman at the desk was reluctant to get a line of guests checked in because apparently the person that runs the front desk was mopping floors. My room was quite small, but cozy and clean.
Was surprised by the third floor booking and no elevator. I know now that next time I should request first floor if possible. My error in not booking directly with ability to ask questions.
Very quaint, peaceful, historic building with very friendly staff. Only thing is beds are on the harder side and can feel other person moving around at night.
Property is beautiful and historic feeling. Love the check in desk to the patio and dining room. If you like character this has it. Creaking stairs to hot coffee waiting for you in the lobby. The lobby has multiple chairs and places to just sit back and talk, people watch or nap. Friendly staff waiting on you each day making it special.
great time
Wonderful spot - well worth it
Nice nostalgic location.
I like how old and well kept up the place is. Limited parking, park on the street. But being in an association I saw security ride by a few times on a golf cart. Very quiet
I probably won't stay here again
Little things can make a big difference. Tissues in the room would have been nice. I would have liked to have been made aware at the time of my reservation, that the dining room isn't open on Sundays and Mondays, the days we were there. Because the dining room wasn't open, the breakfasts on those 2 days left a lot to be desired. Serving cold quiche and expecting us to warm it in a microwave, which I do not use. I expected better. So while breakfast was poor, I had to pay weekend price for the Sunday portion of our stay. Tsk Tsk. I probably won't stay again.
Charming historical inn. Small cozy room with lots of charm.
Quiet and Clean in Bay View
We love staying at the Terrace Inn when visiting Up North! The relaxing atmosphere radiates from the staff to the rooms and the neighborhood. Exactly the decompression that we needed! The breakfast was AMAZING and the rooms were quaint and clean. I felt transported back to a simpler time!
Beautiful old hotel. Wish we had known that the restaurant and even the bar is closed on Sundays and Mondays.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Quiet.
We loved our stay! There is the usual quirkiness to staying in an historic Inn that was built in 1911. It’s been updated but retains its historic character. We loved that part. The dinner is amazing! The breakfast buffet also fantastic. My husband can eat everything while I have dairy and gluten allergies. We both loved the dinner and breakfasts! We have been coming to Petoskey for 20 years and had never been here. This is a hidden gem that I highly recommend!
Very pleasant Inn. Nice places to sit and quietly read and relax. Good food, including breakfast variety. Especially enjoyed walking quiet streets of Bay View. Bathroom was a bit cramped, but overall I would enjoy staying there again.
You feel like you are stepping back in time staying here. What a unique and beautiful location at Bay View.
Enjoyed the historic hotel. Room was a little small but enjoyed our visit there. Nice and clean.
Short summer stay
Fourth time we have stayed at the Terrace Inn. The room was clean and very comfortable. This place is so charming! The breakfast has gone downhill a little - not much variation day-to-day in the offerings; much fewer sweetroll & bread selection; and no bowl of fresh fruit (grapes, melons, etc.). In our other visits, we were busy & never turned on the TV. This visit it rained all day one day (not their fault), so in the evening we tried to watch TV and it wouldn't work properly. Others at the front desk reported similar issues. We were told to unplug both devices, plug them back in and see if that fixes it - it didn't. Screens would freeze and the TV would try to re-boot itself. I had to sit in the lobby for my ipad to link to the server. Anyway, we like this place and will stay here again.
Pros: The aesthetic, hospitality, food, location, ambiance, all wonderful. Breakfast every morning was unsurpassed/ delicious! Dinner also delicious. Cons: The WiFi is unbearable. I’m glad I didn’t have to login to work because I’d be screwed. The property said it’s a problem throughout Petosky…idc, get some WiFi boosters! Also the air conditioner unit in our room was unbearable…it was a wall unit…sounded like a JET PLANE taking off/cycling on every 30 mins. Very difficult to sleep, hear the TV, all of it! Sad this was the case because all else was wonderful…but probably won’t stay here again for fear I’d have to deal w that again :(
Staying here was like stepping back in time. Love the building and the historic charm.
The most charming Inn I have ever stayed at! It is such a treat to stay and spend time here.
Stay was good. Attempted to simply check in a little early and not actually get my keys and was told NO we don’t do that. Breakfast was ok scrambled eggs were luke warm. Overall I will give an OK
Very peaceful atmosphere and the staff goes above and beyond to make you feel welcomed!
Unique
Very clean and beautiful. Staff was very accommodating.
Beautiful view of the bay
A beautiful inn with two large porches for relaxing and enjoying a view of the bay.
We had a great stay. Food was excellent. Really liked happy hour.
staff very friendly and food excellent
Very unique vintage hotel in an area of well cared for vintage cottages. The area was very nice and the service at the hotel was great. There are a few quirks to be aware of (the floors have a tilt in some areas), but it adds to the character of the hotel. We would definitely stay here again.
Staff were friendly.
A very quaint property snuggled into the Bay View neighborhood. Street parking is available, but challenging during ‘dining’ hours. The room was cozy. And, where we all need to unplug a bit, the WiFi was challenging at times. The restaurant is cute and the beverages are quite tasty. Attentive staff and friendly. I would certainly come again!
Quaint
Classic antique experience. Great staff. Great porch sitting. Beautiful location. There are no elevators— so if you’re carrying heavy bags, ask for a lower floor.
Great place
The staff was wonderful
My new favorite place.
This is my new favorite hotel in the region. I was looking for a place that had old-time character and elegance. Terrace Inn had it. There's no elevator and the shower was small, but we expect this from a historic building. The bed was comfortable, and the air conditioning was a huge relief from the heat and humidity outside. The breakfast was wonderful - the staff served the food and walked around refilling coffee. It was like eating at a restaurant rather than the typical continental breakfast that is included at other hotels. Speaking of restaurants, we ate at the 1911 restaurant on the first floor, and it had wonderful food, ambience, and staff. The combination of a lovely room, the historic feel of the hotel and restaurant, the super friendly staff, the ability to stroll through the historic neighborhood and walk to Lake Michigan for sunsets... we loved it!
Charming and peaceful hotel with Victorian era charm and friendly staff.
Exceptional stay in an old inn
Waitstaff was exceptional. Loved the old inn. The restaurant was also exceptional. We lived the food and ate both nights at 1911!
Nice place - room was not
Lots of old-school vibe. Unfortunately, we had a lousy room with the world's most inconvenient bathroom, which made it a not-so-pleasant stay. Restaurant was good, although a bit quirky. Would hesitate to return.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, the charm of this unique property was outstanding, the staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful, the room was clean and comfortable. We will stay again if we are in the area.
