Check in was easy and staff was friendly. We got a king size room and it was your basics and clean with a good continental breakfast. Restaurants and fast food within walking distance and a gas station next door. Very pleased with our experience here and would definitely stay again.

Sheets and comforter were dirty with what looked like blood and other stains. Staff did give us new sheets so we could change linens ourselves. Carpet had black stains all over it. Bathroom tile was very dirty, as was the shower and sink area.

I would like a room that had all door handles intact, clean hallway floors, light fixtures in hallway that aren't lying on the floor, entrance door without a huge gap, no mold on the bathroom walls and no PUBIC hairs in the bathtub!

I will start with the one good thing, the front desk guy was very nice. However the rest of the experience was horrible. I was coming in from out of town and received a phone call asking when I would be checking in…I was on the road and found it odd for a hotel to call me and ask when I would be there When I arrived, I could tell by the area around the place it did was not friendly at all. There are a lot of random transients and homeless who frequent this particular area. The lobby looked clean enough…simple for little $$. When I went to walk up the stairs is when I noticed all the stains and spots in the carpets, chipped paint in the hallway, etc. the room seemed clean but again repeated the theme if stained floors. I thought to myself its just a short overnight you will be fine. Until I went to the bathroom and looked at the shower where there was a filthy moldy bath mat covering up and even more dirty disgusting moldy in the tub. I was absolutely horrified!!! I just wanted a nice hot shower and clean sheets! I asked to move and the next bathtub was at least clean but had stains on it and the shower fixtures were severely outdated. Unsafe area, dirty floors (had to leave my socks on I was so grossed out!) The dirty tub just did it for me…

we were there very briefly so didn't use any of the amenities but the room was updated and clean and the hotel was very quiet.

This entire hotel needs to be remodeled. The walls had yellow stains on them, tub looked dirty (I couldn't even bring myself to shower there), and the rooms smelt horrible. Windows could open, but ours had no screen in them. Will never stay there again and am going to try to get my money back...

Weird and unprofessional

The house keeper went though my personal and took my items. And the front desk did nothing but say they would talk to house keeping about it. They didn’t try to compensate me at all.

Facilities are tired, but the staff were lovely and the bed was comfy.

I definitely hope they continue to work on the rooms and the hallways, there were broken unlockable windows in our room, and spray paint in the halls. It wasn’t a bad stay, comfortable clean bed.

Location was good for ease on and off the highway. Price point was lower than the Northern area of Cedar Rapids. Breakfast area was clean, but the floors throughout the rest of the property were filthy. A woman, presumed to be homeless was staying just to the right of the front doors with a cart and multiple black garbage bags, a bit uncomfortable being greeted this way. Staff were pleasant and demure.

Bed was comfortable. One lamp in room, no phone, container covering window. Toilet innards broken, no plumber available. Horrible, rubber tread floor.

The room definitely needs some upgrades. The mattress pad was stained and I didn't feel comfortable walking in the room without shoes. The steps and hallway had extremely dirty carpet. There is no elevator either so be prepared to walk up steps to your room. It was a last minute decision to stay overnight and it was a home Iowa game so rooms were scarce. Next time, I'll take my chances sleeping in my car.

Being an old property is ok if it's properly maintained. The condition of this property is so bad, Expedia should not even offer this property.

Please note that my review has no reflection of the staff. The staff was very nice. Peter at the front desk was super helpful and accommodating, whenever I needed anything, he did not hesitate to assist, from pliers to Band-Aids, he had me covered. He even assisted me with directions to Walmart. my room was OK. There was a bloodstain on the mattress which you could see through the bedsheet. The toilet bowl is completely cracked, which had me nervous when I needed to use it as I was afraid it would break. Complementary breakfast was not as I expected. The boiled eggs had a funny smell and felt like they were probably two weeks old. I would not recommend this place, but I would stay here again only because of the service which was great.

Very Disappointed

The floor was sticky to walk on in the room, no chair in the room, no lamps. I went outside in the morning to see what the wheather was like. I seen at least 10 rats outback and on the west side of the hotel. I have always thought of Super 8 as a good hotel not anymore. This property needs a serious remodel,very outdated. Very Disappointed.

Greeter at counter very very poor english. Could not get extra towels & wash cloth. Dirty. Our was serviced last day of stay. Ran out of toilet paper. Garbage was emptied by us. Laundry services did not work & was scolded for trying to use in evening.

The room itself was clean and remodeled. However they’re using something on the floor that makes the flooring feel oily or greasy to your feet. They are in the midst of renovating many of the rooms so a lot of them are out of service. It was okay for a night but hopefully they’ll get more of the rooms and hallways renovated so it doesn’t feel so chaotic.

Staff at desk very accommodating, room sparsely furnished but comfortable bed and clean bathroom was what we were looking for as we only stayed one night, close to airport for flight that left early next morning, overall excellent, would definitely recommend this hotel!

Disgusting dirty bathtub, literally looked grey with dirt. carpets and armchair, hard to even look at it all without a cringe. No toothpaste or toothbrush. Window is covered with plastic from outside, can’t open a curtain, so basically felt trapped in a box with no window.

When we checked into the hotel, the Indian man at the reception desk had a very rude bad style. He was not kind to us at all. The air conditioner was making a lot of noise. The room was not clean Jul. There was a bad smell inside. The guy at the reception was racist to us. A place I will never stay again. I never recommend it!

Honestly they could have done alot better. The bathroom wasnt fully clean, if cleaned at all. The beds wasnt made correctly. There was a lot flaws and if i had to come back to super 8 motel, i would choose not to.

Smoke detectors

The stain on the carpet was fine, but the lack of a smoke detector the whole time was nerve-wracking. And the consistent sound of small children or an animal above us drove me insane. Also, the paint peeling and chipping in the bathroom should be taken care of.

The windows on the first floor all have NO LOCKS. A stick is used for this purpose. All the screens are torn and some ”repaired” with blue painting tape. Carpets are soggy. Bathroom fixtures fell off shower. NO hot water. Staff rude and would not give refund. Credit card contacted and this charge is being disputed. Worst place I ever booked and I’ve been to some gross dives in this country. Should be condemned.

Absolutely disgusting room.. stains all over the place, blood on the bed, bugs crawling arou d,freezer was completely frozen over.. left 20 mins after getting into the room it was so nasty.. asked for a refund and was told no completely unacceptable for what i was given!!!!!

Strong smell of urine in my room, stained sheets with cigarette burns. Staff member was helpful fixing the TV but I won’t be staying at this hotel again. I’ve stayed at many other super 8s before but none were in this bad of shape.

Easy to fine. Comfortable rooms

Overall, a property in need of an overhaul. On the whole, just needs a refreshing and a deep clean. Things like a leaking ice maker that then makes a smell on the first floor. Also, when I went to shower, large amounts of long black hair from someone else can put from under the anti slip pad in the shower. Staff was relatively friendly, though they seemed to doubt my assertion that I was a solo traveler and would not be “entertaining” anyone else. Construction guys outside during the evening were a bit loud but not overly so.

They said that they are pet friendly, but it is not friendly when you must to pay 20 US per pet, also the rooms are mold and dirty, bad carpets and beds were dusty.

It was alright the bed was broken.

They were there when I needed them. And I appreciated their patience with me.

Honestly there was a guy walking around the parking lot with a bottle of whiskey pointing at our car, while I have my 11 year old in the vehicle. Very disturbing. Looked like there was a prostitute as well...just very disturbing

Shower did not work. I always take a shower before driving to the location we are going to and could not shower. Advertised with breakfast and sign was posted due to some condition in the food prep area, there would be no breakfast. Room was damp despite air conditioning being set to low 70's. There was no working smoke alarm. It is a dangerous place to stay and probably in violation of the local health and safety code related to hotels/motels. Should have gotten a significant rebate/money back for no operating shower and no breakfast.

Very displeased

Absolutely terrible. Was in town for an event and checked in late getting in. Filled out all the paperwork and prepaid for hotel room in advance, just to then be told they don’t have any rooms available. They over booked even though we had fully paid our rooms ahead. So at 11 pm I had to find a new place to stay for our family of 4 with a kid. Not accommodating or helpful and offered nothing to help resolve. Said we weren’t to be charged but still battling that. Would not recommend if you are hoping for a place to sleep that night.

Barely any continental breakfast service at the location. The exterior could use a little bit of an upgrade.

The first night was quiet. The second night was not so good. Kids running up and down the hallway knocking on doors at 1:30 in the morning. Kids are kids but I didn't get much sleep because of them. Then I got charged twice for Saturday night - no resolution.

Had a reservation, check in time is 2. We arrived around 4 and the lady sat there and said she was having issues logging on to the system and she then proceeded to get on her phone & we continued to wait about 20min with no clue what the deal was. She then told us their system was down and could not check us in and that we would have to wait around until system came back up and mind you she had no idea how long it would be. We were in town for a concert that was starting in an hour & really needed to be able to get into our room. We went to another hotel right next to them and they were able to get us in a room. I called to cancel my reservation since they were unable to check us in anf would not know how long it would be until we could get into a room and told me i would still need to pay for the room since i was canceling even though i did not cancel because of me. THEY were unable to check us in, had no other way around things and it was all due to their system. Should not be put on me. She was rude, not understanding and i asked to speak to a manager but she said they never have management there. Then asked for manager number and she was not giving that either. We didnt habe hours to wait to be able to check in our room & had no idea when we could so should not be our fault we chose to go elsewhere. Horrible place. Horrible staff. Horrible customer service.

It was something out of a nightmare! Place smelled of alcohol and cigarettes. No smoke alarm, holes in walls, shower curtain looked like it had vomit on it, burn marks on the carpet and stains on sheets. People gathering and yelling right outside of our window, at 3am there was a fight with people screaming ‘help’ ‘get out of my face’ and ‘I’m calling 911’. It felt extremely unsafe and dirty.

Upon arrival there was no clerk at the next.. I called the phone number, no answer After 20 min a clerk came but stated he just woke up!!!! After checking me in I drove to the back ( closer to my room) outside was sitting a woman who was clearly very high on something… my room was gross dirty stains on carpet.. smelled like smoke ( non smoking.. when I went to run the water in the shower, brown water came up form the drain. I called to report my displeasure however i couldn’t get a hold of any one .. I left to check out again no one to be found so I left a note … I ended driving 2 more hours to find a suitable hotel… this hotel was awful! I did not feel safe.. please DO NOT STAY HERE

The rooms smelled like smoke, the carpet was dirty with stains, mold and unclean shower, towels were gross and unwashed, breakfast was a joke, and the people coming in and out were scary. Plus there smoke detectors were missing with wires exposed and the room phone didnt have a cord. The staff was no where to be found at times.

the check in service was very slow, the breakfast (what little they had was poor. All they had was cold cereal, biscuits and gravy. the biscuits were partially frozen and the gravy and coffee were cold.

Stay at super 8

The staff were very nice and helpful. The room was ok sheets were on inside out and not even all the way on. Other than that my pets were allowed and they made them very comfortable with being able to play bark and the have a area especially for them to use the bathroom. The outside was kinda trashy looking in the back and they were fixing a lot of the rooms other than that the continental breakfast was ok better than expected. So overall I had a great time relaxing and would recommend to a friend and would probably stay again.

Everything about this experience was disappointing, from check in to the tired room to the chair in the room that was disgusting. A true fleabag hotel.

Our experience was pretty so-so. No real major problems, but a handful of disappointments. 1. Check in - room we were assigned still had person on it. Took about 20 minutes of waiting while person on duty found us another room. 2. Had two pillows and ask for a 3rd, but none available. One of our pillows had no pillow case. 3. Breakfast was very poor at about 8:30 today. No coffee, no yogurt, no hard boiled eggs although signs indicated they should be there. Had sausage gravy that was good but no biscuits...only 4 slices of heals of bread. Only thing really available was making waffles or cold cereal. Couldn't even make toast beyond the four slices for everyone trying to have breakfast. On the positive side, afternoon manager (Jessie) and morning manager (Justin?) very apologetic, pleasant and tried to be helpful. Appears there's not enough staff and also that there's very little quality control on things. The room itself was fine...a few things that needed a little attention but nothing unworkable. Guess you get what you pay for...i.e. this is a budget motel and doesn't appear to have the resources to deliver better than so-so service.

Booked a king size room but was given 2 double bed. When i checked in no one was at the front desk. Took 10 minutes to find some one to check in. Then the room key wasnt programmed right and it was for the wrong room. Noises all through the night.

The bed was comfortable, and the bathroom looked clean. The room smelled like cigarettes, even though it was a non smoking room. There was dried paint on the carpet in multiple areas. The room was very musty. I felt dirty just being in there. I didn’t even want to put my suitcase on the floor. Also, there was no elevator, and my room was in the 3rd floor.

When I arrived, I was told that the room I had booked with 2 beds had been given to someone else and I was put in a room with 1 bed. I agreed to it, but was surprised that any hotel/motel would do that.

Smoke smell and dirty room

Walked into a non smoking room that smelled so strong with smoke that I swear someone just left after smoking a whole pack of cigarettes, so gross. I called the front desk no other rooms available but I could get my money back. We pulled the sheets back and there were stains on the sheets. Room had paint on the carpet and no baseboards. We luckily found another room and left. My wife was gonna sleep in her clothes so as not to touch the sheets and was afraid of bed bugs. Glad we found another room. Super gross and disappointed.

I booked my room a week ahead of time. I called at 8:30pm to let hotel we would be arriving between midnight and 1am. When I arrived at 12:45am they had given away the room and overbooked. Nothing given to me for the major inconvenience.

Had people fighting and screaming in the hallway at 2am for over half an hour. Would have been good to have management kick them out or at least tell them to be quiet. Otherwise the facility is good

The hotel was in a good location. It was easy to access from the interstate. Lots of restaurants nearby, even within walking distance. However, it was not a new up-to-date hotel. I think it is a case of “You get what you pay for.” We only needed to sleep there and get back on the road early the next morning. And it was fine for that. I would not have wanted to spend any more time there.
