It worked for the purpose of the trip. Nothing extra ordinary to compliment on. Staff was great, except for one lady in the dining area, who was kind of annoying!

Sunbird Lilongwe - great hotel

Lovely hotel well located in town. My airconditioning was not working and though it took a while, the team actually changed the compressor the same evening and ensured I got a good night's rest. Above & beyond. Highly recommend this place.

Nice hotel except for the food.

Not worth the money but good location

We hoped for solid wifi and some luxury on this stay… the place is nice, but needs maintenance (eg bathroom door lock missing, mosquito nets didn’t work). The Wi-Fi kept kicking you off and you had to log in repeatedly with a code that’s not memorable. Didn’t think it was worth the money. The location is good.

The rooms were nice and the staff was super helpful and friendly. The hotel is convenient to being in the city center. Would recommend staying her for work or tourist travel.

Relaxed elegance, beautiful gardens

The Sunbird Lilongwe is a beautiful hotel. It has the relaxed elegance of an earlier era, with low-slung building and open corridors with view of the extensive, beautifully-maintained gardens. The rooms have been recently renovated so they are very comfortable, and there is now a gym (I tried the elliptical, which worked very well) as well as a small pool. The breakfasts are ample, with omelettes made to order, and the service is excellent. I stayed twice, once on each end of my trip to Lilongwe, and I enjoyed both visits. This is Old Town, so outside the hotel the roads are rough and sidewalks are dirt paths, but if you venture a block down to the big shopping center, the Bombay Palace also has excellent Indian food.

Convenient location inq Lilongwe

This hotel is in an excellent location for business and pleasure. I found the staff to be courteous, professional and friendly. The property is a little dated but very clean and i was quite happy and comfortable in in my room

They double charged me for the room. I prepaid but theyvaked me to pay again when I left. How do i get my money back?

I loved the lush, green and spacious gardens and the fact that my room had a patio. The birds were everywhere. I appreciated that all room entrances were from the garden instead of indoor hallways like most hotels. The staff were friendly and helpful and the restaurant had great breakfasts and dinners. It was a great place to stay for 3 weeks.

At the height of the Covid Pandemic finding friendly, efficient and welcomjng staff at this lovely oasis in hectic Lilongwe was a testament to the hotel. Centrally placed, secure and with good food all at affordable prices this is a home from home place. To be highly recommended.

Cleanliness and convenience

Our stay at Sunbird Lilongwe is always excellent,we are treated like part of the family from the warm welcome we receive at the reception all the way to the rooms. I was taken to 3 rooms which all had problems --had to transfer to the Sunbird Capital hotel for the second night.

The property shares a name with another, confusing. The WiFi fluctuates.

didn't like the checking in process, too slow. Internet service was also very bad. I liked the cleanliness of the room.

Good option for Lilongwe stay over

It was good in all ways including the breakfast. The best of many places I stayed in during my many hotel nights spendt in Malawi during the last 3 years

Reasonable business hotel

The staff were very friendly and helpful and the hotel generally clean. The room was also nice and generally comfortable. Some areas that could be improved are the internet, fitness options and the coffee! Internet logs you out if your phone or laptop is on standby. This means you miss messages and Skype calls. There is a pool but it’s quite small and no gym. Breakfast was reasonable but let down by lack of decent coffee. There are some good restaurants in walking distance so worthwhile if you need to be in the area

Reliable quality in a well situated hotel.

The staff in the hotel are all friendly and very helpful. The rooms are clean and appropriately furnished including tea making facilities. The self-service breakfast offers a good range of food catering to a variety of tastes. The hotel is situated within walking distance of Lilongwe Mall where there are banking and shopping facilities.

I like how central this hotel is to amenities. It was mostly quiet. Breakfast was provided and the omelet station is a hit. Water pressure in the shower was very low and the housekeeping staff woke me up everyday with the carts and talking in the hallway.

A garden hotel, with good food & friendly staff

The hotel has a pleasing layout and attractive grounds. A good restaurant and business facilities were particularly appreciated, as were the staff who were friendly and helpful, for the most part. The room was pleasant, with good amenities. At the time I visited (southern winter) the pool was being renovated and the hotel had hot water problems, but the latter was fixed within 24 hours.

My stay was nothing to write home about. The hotel itself is quite dated, but none the less clean and quite. The room is quite large and comfortable, but the water pressure and heat in the shower was not good. I found the reception team to be a little unfriendly. The resturant was pleasant, service was excellent, food average, however limited choices and quite expensive.

Lovely stay

Stayed a couple of nights on husiness. Food was Good, staff happy to help, fast internet, comfortable bed - a brilliant stay. Would definitely stay again!

The Hotel needs a renovation urgently, especially the entrance, the fountain etc is outdated. The restaurant needs to be REVAMPED. The appliance of the hotel looks very tired and old. it needs tobe upgraded like the capital or Mt Souche.

The hotel was clean and friendly but required an upgrade. The buffet breakfast was great!

I stayed 2 nights at the Sunbird Lilongwe while on a business trip recently. I found the property to be well-taken care of, the staff friendly, and the few meals (2 breakfasts and one dinner) I had in the restaurant were fine, with a number of choices available. I did not go out in the area around the hotel, so I cannot comment on the neighbourhood.

As good as it gets

Hotel is in beautiful grounds and looks attractive. Rooms and service acceptable but not top quality. Area is quiet and transport required to eat out.

Had a very good stay and thanks to the kindness of the staff. Apart Sometime too much noise in the corridor with the trolley , I've enjoyed it. And at that time the rate is very good
