Very dirty nasty lobby
The bedding or cleaned
Terrible wi-fi might as well not have any and managers son was disrespectful.
Lady at desk was very rude
Room office. Hair dryer not working
Worst of my stays
Very very bad place to stay. Old bathroom, noisy heater.
Never stayed cancelled room and still got charged
Tried calling so they knew we cancelled but no one ever picked up they still charged me 190 for the rooms so not happy that I can't get a hold of them
Not a clean place
Roaches, pool was empty, staff family overwhelmed the lobby area, breakfast not existent, lucky to get a cup of coffee.
Not recommended
Not so good,
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
They didn’t even have my reservation. I had to scramble to find a hotel in the middle of the night. They were rude and offered no repayment for my reservation that I had booked through Expedia.
I expected a lot more than they had to offer
Breakfast was included in the price but not provided to us. The room was smelly.
don't go!
Place is old, neglected, little amenities, messy lobby, hard to navigate for the disabled, one light, no phone, 1 nigh table, dead plug, small room broken tile
worse than just No Frills
The desk area is a mess and the clerk/owner gave us the wrong room (already occupied). When he finally found us a room he made us go back to the office to get another key instead of offering to bring it to us. Pool is nasty and outside areas are kind of creepy and illkept. Mattresses are old and slanted due to people sitting on the edge of the bed. Felt like sleeping on a hillside. AC and wifi were marinal and we were never able to get TV working.
Worst hotel I have ever stayed in. Bathroom had a couple roaches in it and the shower was basically set up for someone. That was a very small person.. water temperature could never get right it would go from cold to scalding hot on its own. It took like five minutes for it to warm up. There’s no outlet to really plug-in a phone charger. They have people living there full-time who are making noise all night long or you can’t even get no rest, the bed were actually uncomfortable crunchy when you sat down on it
I guess I should have known considering the price but my experience was the worst to date. I was there to check in late at night and there was a sign that said no hot water taped to the door. The man who came out was hard to understand, very short tempered, and insisted there was hot water. The photos are very misleading, the lobby photos must have been taken many years ago when the furniture was new and the outside recently painted. The pool is empty and sad looking. The air was musty upon entering, the beds are in those frames that are larger than the mattress so my 87 year old father almost broke a hip tripping over them not to mention the multiple bruises he has on his shins from banging into the corners. The bathroom had an old soap in it from a previous person. You were given only one towel per person in the room and they were thin so I was not dry when I got dressed. One of the lights over the bed didn't work. The faucets handles were missing their inserts that specified if they were cold or hot. Although not necessary to label, that kind of uncapped item would be hard to sanitize and is unsightly. The only thing positive is that the sheets seemed to be clean and it was quiet, although I think we disrupted that due to my father's continued injuries. 0/10 do not recommend unless you are in desperate need to crash and not concerned about any of the above items.
Lie lie lie
We booked this hotel based on the advertised amenities, location and photos. Unfortunately, everything advertised was a lie. They said they had a complimentary Continental breakfast, that was a lie. They said they were located inside Silver springs State park, that was a lie. All the photos that were on the site were lies. We had no hot water, ac didn't work properly, hair dryer didn't work, no phone to connect to a service desk, room looked morning like photos, staff that didn't care that they weren't offering what their advertisement said and didn't speak/ understand English well. Very frustrated!!
Rooms are clean staff is friendly
Did not stay the night due to the unsafe area and the dirtyness of the motel
Dirty, rundown place. Pool was empty, staff were rude and indifferent. Never again
I like to give people the benefit of the doubt, but this was not a good experience. (My compliments to the photographer for making it look better than it was. Very deceiving). I thought it was going to be a nostalgic throwback to the glory days of Silver Springs. Wrong. There was no breakfast or even coffee, the pool is closed and not maintained, there was a table and two chairs in the room, but nothing else for furniture or decor, very noisy window A/C window unit. The only thing that looked updated was the bed itself which was NOT the "best bed in town" as they advertise. Matter of fact, if you have issues with your back, it could be especially bad. On the plus side there was cable TV, so, there's that. I think some of the guests were "extended stay" which is usually not a good sign for small motels, but we didn't have any problems with the other guests. The worst thing was that the staff treated us less like motel guests and more like intruders in their house. I hate to be so negative, but this is the truth.
It was good, just used to sleep at night.
No ice or vending machines, wouldn't let have but 1 trash can, second day couldn't even get clean towels or empty trash, got mad with me when asked for toilet paper 2nd as they said were 2 rolls when got there but was only 1... Otherwise for price was ok.
The facilities are old but the rooms clean and comfy with great air conditioning and great hot water for showering. It was very peaceful and quiet and we all slept great! For this we highly recommend. Also family run! We came here to go kayaking at Silver Spring which is almost walking distance and we would come and stay here again!
This place is nothing like the photos. The lobby seems lived in, the pool was drained, there were stains and hair on our sheets and had to
Tha place had a bad odor and no water in the pool
Concert travels
The microwave didn’t work but they changed out asap it’s an old motel and some people live there but our stay was great . Ice machine doesn’t work overall it’s cheap and was the closest to to concerts we were going to I would be glad to stay there again .
The place just seemed old. The photo showing the front of the property must have been taken when the place had just been painted. The lobby door is always locked. I was surprised to see garage style epoxy (with the sprinkles on the floor) instead of carpeting. Furniture style was not of this decade. Century, either. AC seemed to have a hard time keeping up. The mattress was much softer than I like. (I did not ask if they had a room with a more firm mattress, though) When my key card quit working early Saturday morning, around 7:00-7:30, staff came out finally (remember, lobby door is locked) in her pajamas and not saying nice things (in her native language). Should I need a room in Silver Springs in the future, I think I will choose a different location.
Room was clean but could use updating.
This property was poorly maintained. The lobby was being used as a living room for the owner's family. Very messy. Room itself was very scarce and old, but did appear clean. Bed was okay.
I originally reserved a Queen room and when I got there. She informed me that some of the rooms have lost power and they did not have any more Queen rooms available. So I had to go with a 2 double bedroom. And instead of compensating me or giving me something off the room, she charged me the same amount and she was very rude and not to mention the room needed work, the walls needed to be painted. The door was rotted on the bottom. The shower water was cold. It just was not a good room at all. And if we had not checked in so late, we would have went to another hotel. So if you're trying to decide whether or not to stay here, don't waste your time
We reserved a queen bed room but i guess some of The room's lost power. So without even notifying me. They said oh, we just can't give you that Queen room. We have to give you a 2 double bed room which i didnt want and tbey still charged me the same price. The shower water temp sucked due to it being cold and the lady at the front desk was very rude and the inside of the room needed work badly. Do not stay here. Very disappointed And if it wasn't so late when we arrived to check in, we would have went to another hotel
The beds were worn out. Only 2 towels for 4 people. I asked for a receipt and the lady refused to give me one
The website and brochure portray an image of a refurbished, retro, 1960's style motel, but the reality is completely different. The pool is closed and damaged. The playground, picnic area and fire pit area are dilapidated. The grounds are unkept and neglected. Many of the people there were residents, rather than travellers, and in one occasion, I had to go out and yell at them for drinking and playing music after quiet hours. The owners disconnected their phone, so we couldn't lodge a complaint. On the plus size, the room was clean, and we did receive proper service
Rooms are kinda outdated for the price. Lamp in the room didn’t even have a shade on it. Had to wake the staff up at 3 am because door key didn’t work.
No complain
Fair stay
Check in went smooth! Strong smell of bleach, wifi non existent, hair dryer in room not working the one time I decided not to bring mine. Other than that it was okay!
Okay good for the price.
It was clean and inexpensive. It seemed safe. There's a lot of road noise and the window coverings and DOOR let in a bit too much light on the perimeter of the windows and door. The shower did not work and the temperature of the water was not very warm. For the money it was okay.
Property needs to be neater
Out dated and husband left shorts and wallet and they didn’t call us and wen we went back they had brown his shorts away and had his wallet didn’t even had the curiosity to call to tell us and they where rude
It was sufficient. C lean, no bugs, safe neighborhood.
Sun Plaza Hotel
While the room was dated, it was very clean. It provided a no frills room at a reasonable price. Maintaining a decent internet connection was the only problem we encountered.
Terrible motel.
Worst motel we have ever been in. Booked for three nights but left after one night. Sheets dirty, shower head rusty, shower door off rollers, no breakfast, rude staff, don't stay here at any price.
It only looked good on pictures. Reception office doors locked, check in had to be done through a hole in the wall and it was only 9pm. In the posting on expidia it said breakfast included, but not even coffee in the morning. The bed was good though.
Upon check-in the building has a old bleach smell. The rooms are so strong with the smell we had to air out for hours before closing the door. Dated rooms ,small tv ,poor ventilation. Would not recommend wasting your time. traffic noise sounds like its being played over loud speakers.
I like it from staff to cleanliness to area all I ❤️❤️❤️ in my book thank you sun plaza
Great location , clean and very reasonable
Pictures for the hotel are from 10 years ago when someone renovated it. Hotel is managed by some Hindu people who don’t speak English. Check in closes at 11:00. Hotel staff was rude and hinged up the phone when I tried to find out at what time I could arrive. No continental breakfast at all not even hot coffee. Pool was empty. Outdated. Dirty.
I didnt check in place is not what is on the website. Do not go to this place.dirty.no pool, and homeless people on site around area.not safe
Theirvisca half inch gap under the the front door..So bugs can get in..Ice box was broken for months, I saw roaches
This place is as nasty as they get
The lady checking us in was nasty as could be. They have full time residents in most of the units, very bad and unsafe motel. Cussing and partying of the residents. Was the THE ABSOLUTE WORST STAY WE'VE EVER HAD. Stay way away from this hell hole. Pictures look nice, that that's not reality of this sleezy motel. We should have left and got a refund, but only stayed for a few hours to rest and then leave.
The property was dingy and gross. I don't know if it's Expedia or the property that set the price for that room, but it was way overpriced. Not worth $135 a night. I might as well have stayed at the Hilton down the street. Unbelievable.
We did not even get to check in, barely in the door and already was given attitude. I did not understand why a credit card was needed and the woman at the desk immediately started snapping at me about canceling the reservation. After trying to calm her I asked a few more questions and the motel was not as advertised-no breakfast and working pool (was empty) we did ultimately request a refund. I was willing to give Sun Plaza a chance as a retro style motel, but the customer service we received changed oue decision.
Upon arrival, the room was not like the pictures. It has a window shaker a/c that was loud. The shower was low water pressure and not hot water. But that was not the worst part. The worst part was the manager who was extremely rude! We asked about getting 2 more towels as there was only 2 in the room for two people, and also asked for toilet paper as we didn’t see any. The managers response was to scream and tell us to get out! We stayed in our room, did not get additional towels nor did we ask for anything else. We felt unsafe as two women traveling and we will never stay here again!!! I would recommend the Super 8 at 40 which is cheaper and better
Online pics look great. Arrived to pool closed, rooms in need of deep clean and paint. Arrived at 6 PM and the bathroom was steamed up like someone had just taken a shower. Figured this was an hourly rental, not sure if bedding had been changed that fast, so left, stayed at a chain hotel.
The rude woman who told me no reservations go away. Even after I showed the confirmation
NIghtmare
Do not go to this place the picture is a scam, the staffing is low class, the noise is terrible, the shower watter comes out and all over and you can't get a refund although the add says is refundable. Bad, bad service.
Never stay ...
Didn't stay left after 3 hours. bathroom didnt work well. This place way deceiving from the pictures.
Had to check in through small hole. Checked in room was small to jail cell and bed was broken. Bates motel is more welcoming than this one. I don’t know what previous guests did to them but they treat everyone like animals.
Run down. False advertising. No pool, no continental breakfast, no ice, nothing like pictures on Travelocity!!
It is worth it for the price you pay.
This motel was nothing like advertised. It was dirty both inside the rooms and outside. Taps would not turn off, mold, rust. Looked like sink had not been cleaned in a long time. Outside every room there was piles of cigarette ends and rubbish. The pool was empty of water, but full of furniture. We could not wait to leave.
Worst place we have ever stayed!
Room was clean, property is dated but was good value for price.
Had to climb on sink to turn on heat. Almost sc alded in shower. Shade wouldn't pull down over large window. Doors and woodwork were filthy. No continental breakfast. Ice cube maker and pop machine dont work. Check in person not very friendly.
The room seemed clean, smelled of bleach and the beds were comfortable. Not too terrible if your expectations aren't high. Found 4 hairs on the walls of the shower. Not much lighting. The pool was in complete disaster filled with patio furniture. The man at the front desk was very unfriendly and unwelcoming. The lobby was filled with the families belongings, shoes and it smelt awful. We checked out at 9am and there was no breakfast as the front door was locked. Do not recommend.
Nice décor, friendly staff ! Location ,Near park and great dinning ! Will there stay again .
Avoid till remodeled.
It appeared our room was in the process of being remodeled. Subfloor only on the floor, and the only furniture was the bed, 2 nightstands, 2 chairs, and one table. Small TV on the wall. The pluses...nice folks, AC worked well, and the toilet flushed well.
Nothing good to say. My wife and I opened the door and had to leave immediately, as we have allergies that prevented us from occupying the room. I explained this to the owner, and asked for a refund, but was refused. So we left the property. I called Capital One to express my disappointment and ask for their help. Please cancel my charges as I never occupied th room.
Might Be the Worst Place I've Ever Seen.
Check on was not good..staff not friendly and not knowledgeable. Grounds were dirty and unkept, room was not clean and just overall disappointing. I went to the function I had planned, made a new reservation on the way back, picked up my things and left. The pics on Hotel.com wete totally misleading.
The manager treatment was nice
Nice reasonably priced hotel
The most comfortable bed I have slept in. I'd recommend the hotel for an economical place to stay.
The manager of the property was rude but it did seem as though she was trying to be nice. It was noisy all night long.
Room was filthy
They were so amazing and friendly! I would highly recommend to anyone :) their sheets smelled amazing!!! Even my 5 year old said “wow mommy! This please is so fresh!” 😂
Customers are not allowed in the lobby. Night clerk initially told me he had no rooms. When I provided proof of the reservation, he miraculously found two rooms. Many sketchy people smoking outside their rooms, combined with other travelers like us who were shocked at the conditions and the treatment of guests. We stayed here a couple of years ago and loved the retro feel and the cool renovations, but it has gone WAY downhill. Never again!
The motel looks like a crack den. The pool was loaded with pool furniture and had no water. The office smelled of old food. The woman in the office did not speak much English. I would not stay there if it was free.
I Arrived to figure out there was no available rooms
Very clean ! A little dated and no smoke detector?!? But a very clean and affordable stay. Oh but the showers are extremely short and small. I am 5’7 and barely fit with like 2” above my head. Bf is 6’5”. He couldn’t make it work.
Only positive for this motel is a omfortable bed.
asked for light bulbs for bathroom twice had to go buy my own which i left for them figured they needed worse than me
The property was messy outside, trash and clutter everywhere, unlike in the picture! The staff was difficult to communicate with, argumentative even. The room itself was clean, the bathroom light had an unusual switch that I wasn't informed about when I checked in. I had to go to the office to ask how it worked and the door was locked, the sign said "open". Irritating customer service!!
Wouldn’t have slept!
I didn’t even stay. Looks like a cute old style Florida hotel but it needs a lot of work. I checked in, went to the room and quickly went online to find another place to stay. Paid for and non refundable room but was worth the peace of mind to go elsewhere.
This property is more of a pay by the hour or week type of rental. The renters are often loud and drinking alcohol at all hours. One female manager is nice but the males have limited English use and are abrupt and unfriendly in their presence. It is definitely not a property for families or to relax. I was there for business in Ocala and the price was right. The room is rundown but was very clean. They do have a lot of false advertising-no pool, no free breakfast, the pictures of the room and property are virtual and not the property.
The staff was very unfriendly and the pictures look NOTHING like the property. No pool. No wifi. No breakfast included. Do not stay here. We ended switching hotels it was that bad.
You could smell the disinfectant the room was very clean
This place is terrible! Filthy and in disrepair. The owners were rude and not at all welcoming. The photos you are seeing online do not represent what you actually will be getting. We discovered at 10:30 at night that the toilet wouldn’t flush. We were told by the owner that he didn’t have anyone to fix it. We asked for a different room and the answer we were given was “just try pushing harder on the handle” Just don’t do it, go elsewhere!
Do NOT try to stay here!
Reserved a room here, guy checking us in rudely said no more rooms. I had to explain we reserved on line already. We got the last room I guess. Our friend also reserved online and paid and they turned him away. Another couple who reserved and paid online was also turned away. When our friend said he already paid for the room the manager yelled at him to call the company. They are taking people’s money then selling their rooms for more. Another friend called earlier in the day to try to stay at the same place as us and the guy tried to charge him $300 for a room. There is thievery going on and they are crooked and mean. Old Florida motel so didn’t expect much but the people running the place are THIEVES!
I didn’t stay because it was a not safe place
It was extremely clean, just I stayed in the front, very noisy from the traffic! But it was extremely clean for the price!
i sent pictures and full discontent i honestly feared for my life this is like a psycho movie or motel worst than anything i can put in words even left a sour taste of Ocala i would never go there again
Pictures were very deceiving. No outlets near nightstands for my c pap. No alarm clocks lack of furniture. Rusty microwave ceiling was bulging in bathroom. Mold on tile exposed electrical outlet in bathroom
Dirty, internet did not work, local people live there, residents were loud and disrespectful outside of there rooms. Upon check in we were told there were no coffee makers in the rooms and coffee would not be available until after 9:00 because they sleep in. The room was dirty and there was a razor left in the bathroom.
Pool was empty. Property was a disaster. Room was filthy. There were drug users in nearby rooms. Very unsafe. We were there for less than one hour!!!!!
The people in the front office were so rude and hostile I felt like I was in a sketch of Fawlty Towers!! The room was clean and the sheets were washed and cleaned. All the decor, furniture and shower fittings needed to be replaced. The whole place was very run down and unkempt. The swimming pool was empty apart from a pool of stagnant water at the bottom. No coffee in the room or in the office. The sign on top of the office door when we stayed here in June wished us a merry xmas!!!!
Outdated hotel. Beds were comfortable and area quiet. Across street from Silver Springs park which was convenient. Staff was very limited in speaking English.
Horrible horrible horrible people in the front desk are very very rude everything about this place is disgusting people walking around in the middle of the night crack heads everywhere.shows pictures of pool and it’s empty.so disappointed.
Cute rooms!
