Our flight was changed to a redeye. Attempted to check in at noon so my wife and I could rest prior to a redeye flight and was informed it would be an extra charge to check in early. No exceptions. The hotel staff is certainly not accommodating. Attempted to cancel and book another hotel but because of hotel.com’s cancellation policy was unable to do so. Room dated but clean.
Excellent place to stay
The location is superb - close to the airport, major streets, and shopping.
Everything
Hotel is in need of updating. Convenient to airport. Friendly hotel staff. Very clean
Good place to stay. I liked how the bedroom was separate from the living room / kitchen. Pots and pans can be obtained from the lobby. Close walking distance to a grocery store and not too far from Walmart, Costco, and other shopping centers. Workers are very kind and helpful. However, the hotel and room are outdated, and there is a lingering scent.
If you are just wanting to stay close to the airport with free shuttle and free shuttle to the train station, this is a great place. No complimentary breakfast and breakfast didn't open until 9:00 a.m. . Room needs a ceiling fan. Very stale air. They did have a square floor fan electric but it made noise. Front desk clerk very polite and patient
Nice place
Hotel very nice and everything was excellent but my only concern was the property is a little dated. Would stay again.
Great suite experience
Offer a free shuttle service to town as hotel is very isolated.
Dated rooms, but clean and comfortable. Staff at checkin was not very friendly. It’s pretty easy to say hello and welcome, and perhaps offer a bottle of water.
The place was clean and perfect for what we needed the two nights we stayed. The staff at check in and check out were quite rude and not very pleasant to do business with. The remainder of staff and property experience was great
For Fairbanks, this hotel is “ok”. We stayed here in advance of a land tour and our bus driver described the area as”sketchy “ and told us not to roam around. They charged us $289 a night which was a total rip-off. The breakfast buffet was limited and $30, we only did this once. At best this is a $125 a night hotel. Really disappointed that Celebrity Cruises uses this property!
Friendly staff
Could stay for a week or 3 no problem.
Large spacious rooms.
great location, clean and well kept friendly, helpful staff would definitely stay there again
Staff was great except for the one checking us in. She wasn’t friendly. The place is a little dated, but kept clean.
Excellent staff in restaurant and bar
Staff was helpful and friendly. Kind of a weird smell when you walk in. Convenient and easy to get in and out.
Great room and hotel
I really had a wonderful stay at the hotel. The staff was wonderful - even stopping to see if I needed help with my bags when I was unloading my car. Room was super clean! Enjoyed having the kitchenette. Really enjoyed my stay.
Would definitely Recommend this Place!
This place is great. Had never been to Fairbanks before, so glad we picked this hotel. Nice staff, very clean rooms and nice environment. We most definitely stay here again.
Sophie's Station in Fairbanks, AK is a wonderful place to stay with all the major features we require, for example it is a very safe, quiet, and clean hotel with Zach's restaurant serving delicious meals both at brunch and dinner hours. We saw locals coming in for both meals. The transportation both pickup at the Airport and when we left was on time and very friendly. Sophies Staff at the check in had our room available even when we checked in earlier than the usual 4:00 PM hour. Many thanks and kudos for Sophies Station! Sincerely, Evy and Richard Feb 2024
I like the layout of the rooms. They are spacious and comfortable.
Outstanding brunch options at Jake's restaurant on-site. Parking lot and winter electrical outlets accessible and well maintained. Spacious king suite. Peaceful and open landscaping location.
Old but amazing!
The staff was very friendly and the hotel was immensely clean. However, it's very old a dated. Nonetheless, I would stay again and the food and drinks were stellar!!
A Really Good Experience
The suite was a joy. First of all, it was very quiet; we heard almost no noise at all. It was very clean, and the kitchen was set up with flatware and dishes. It doesn't come with pots or pans, but there was a card on the sink stating that those were available by calling the front desk. The full-size fridge and oven were great. The bedroom and on-suite bathroom were very enjoyable. The water pressure (always an unknown) was good. The closets are large. The only only negative thing we could mention is that the couch, while looking reasonably new, lacked some support. The arm chair in the living room was very comfortable. Lighting was sufficient, as well. All in all, a really good experience, and we plan to stay there again.
Great place to stay
The property was well kept. Staff were super helpful but the rooms could use some sprucing up like carpet. While there we used the restaurant which was closed Sunday but open Monday and the food was excellent
Nice, but service was lacking
It was a nice place to spend 3 nights in Fairbanks. The staff were nice. We were surprised that the entry doors did not have ADA pushbuttons to open the very heavy doors. We ordered food at the bar, but it took almost an hour to get the food and I had to take it to eat later. The first night I realized that the thermostat was broken. The room temperature was probably higher than 75 degrees. I asked for it to be fixed and the 2nd night I saw a note from maintenance saying they looked at the unit and fixed it. The thermostat was still broken and we had to spend another hot night there.
Roomy rooms
The front desk was exceptionally helpful and friendly. Very accommodating. Love the suites! Large suites with separate bedroom and living area along with full kitchen! Highly recommend!!
The room was neat and clean. Suitable for our needs as we explore the area.
Our room was not ready at the check in time and we were told twice to come back. Upon entering our room on the bottom floor, it immediately smelled as though it had been smoked in at some point. The room was extremely outdated and the beds, couch and chair were all extremely hard- even my children noticed it right away. The hard beds led to terrible sleep for my family. Dark decor. No allowance for late check-out and there was construction on the road leading into the hotel which led to many detours. No breakfast included. The one redeeming quality was the kitchen in the room. I would choose another property next time, with breakfast included and updated decor - and hopefully newer beds.
Distant from most of Fairbanks, very few places to eat nearby. Close to the airport if that is what you want.
Pleasant stay. Room had plenty of space: bedroom, full kitchen, living room and full bathroom.
Love the kitchen and comfortable feeling if our room.
Very quiet and the balcony view was private and excellent.
It’s convenient
I'd rather stay at a place with an apartment-style layout than just a regular hotel room. You have a kitchen, living room and bedroom so you can really spread out and don't have to feel cramped.
Hotel was wonderful....some areas are being remodeled but no construction noise.....staff was friendly and most of them were helpful......Suggest that younger or new staff employees learn about the area so guest will not have to go to the hotel computer to find where churches are, or other areas of sightseeing........or maybe a visitor info or direction sheet could be available for the guests
The staff at the front desk somehow made me recall the strict teachers in my high school. We stayed in 10 hotels on our Alaska trip. This one is the worst of my hotel list The service in this hotel is just as cold as Alaska's temporture.
Property is dated but very clean. The staff was very accommodating and there is a shopping store close enough to walk to. If staying for a few days the kitchen comes in very handy as eating out adds up quickly
Front desk and Housekeeping staff were very helpful. Restaurant/Bar Staff were great. Hotel was quiet and has a great location.
Having a fully equipped kitchen and living room to go along with the bedroom and bathroom was great. Everything was clean and met/exceeded expectations.
Good place to stay
Great location friendly staff
We enjoyed our stay.
Friendly helpful staff and the room was very clean and more than what we needed
Very friendly employees. Very clean place.
great hotel and great food there
Nice location close to the airport. Very large rooms with good kitchen amenities. Convenient shuttle service to FAI.
Like the space in the room.
Convenient location, Great facility, Ruben sandwich, Pinot Noir wine.
Love the size of the rooms. The living room, kitchen, bedroom suite was wonderful!
Great place to stay
Traveling through Alaska this sas the best plave I stayed. Lsfge suite, plenty of well cared for space.
I like the spaciousness of the room. I did not like the slow internet. I could get on once in awhile and at times could not log on. I checked my computer and there it nothing wrong with it.
The room is spacious, clean, the kitchen has everything needed. It’s very quiet and peaceful. We had a lovey time to relax. Check in was quick and easy. Plenty of parking space.
The staffs are not friendly and willing to help.
no
Lovely place to stay in Fairbanks
We had a wonderful stay at Sophie Station. We had a lovely little apartment all to ourselves. Everything was very clean, the grounds outside were just beautiful. Loved the shuttle to and from the airport. Exceptional property.
Little dated but very clean
The kitchen was super handy and the separate bedroom was awesome because we have a young child.
We loved the kitchenette
The rooms were large and well appointed. The bedroom had an air conditioner, which was essential with temperatures reaching 90 during the day. Although the living room didn't have a separate air conditioner, the one in the bedroom was efficient enough to keep the whole room comfortable throughout the day. A pet peeve of mine in most hotels is bathroom sinks that either don't hold water or don't drain properly, or both. The sink worked perfectly, as did the shower.
Great location. Clean rooms. Restaurant was not open on weekends disappointing
Set up like small 1 bdrm apt. Very nice room, staff, and grounds
Great parking, close to town and the airport.
Wonderful place with beautiful flowers and comfortable large clean rooms
AC was broken and was supposedly fixed but it was not fixed. Otherwise room was nice.
Rooms include a full kitchen (I am guessing this property was at one time an assisted living building) and there are a Fred Meyer (aka Kroger) and Safeway nearby. One drawback is there is only a small room AC in the bedroom so the rest of the area can stay quite warm in the summer.
Very spacious and cozy! Staffs are all friendly. They offer free airport transportation.
80’s look
Room needs updating…
Beautiful and quiet. Close to walk to places to eat if inclined
Stayed 1 night after arriving in Fairbanks. Would stay again.
Front desk staff seemed unfriendly and disinterested but other than that I would stay here again
Great location close to everything. Kitchen was nice.
Very clean and comfortable room
I liked the privacy.
Very large suite with full kitchen. Little dated but in excellent condition and very clean. I recommend it.
Mixed Bag--lots of positives, but some negatives
1. Staff--mixed bag; most were awesome, but one was rough. We stayed there two nights, bookending a 3-day excursion, so it was 2 separate bookings. First one went great: check-in person was warm, etc. The 2nd one was rough. They didn't have our hotels.com reservation showing up on their end even though it showed up in my app (which I showed them). The gal at the counter was surprisingly abrupt, cold and non-understanding--pretty off-putting, given the discouraging circumstances. The lady (manager?) I talked to the next morning was much kinder. 2. I liked the layout of the suite a lot; very nice to have all that space and the kitchen. Great location, too--very convenient. And it seemed quite clean overall, except... 3. ...for the 2nd stay our room looked like housekeeping got distracted 80% of the way through; one of the plastic cups in the 2-cup stack was unwrapped and clearly had toothpaste in the bottom of it, and the closet door was open and closet looked a bit unkepmt. 4. I didn't like that the bedspreads were pulled up onto the pillows since word on the street is that hotels don't wash bedspreads between guests (unless advertised), so that seemed gross.
Dry clean; spacious; kitchen stove refrig were condo sized. A bit dated but very convenient. We ll be staying there again in 2 weeks
Sophisticated, charming and peaceful elegance.
Property is well kept, did not notice any wear/tear as would be normally associated with a facility that is "older". I was very happy with size of the suite, and all the complimentary items associated. Great trip.
Clean room
Room was clean but pretty old, which was expected for the price and the pictures. But it seems that part of the property is utilized by long-term residents which I was not expecting.
Spacious, Quiet, Very convenient location, The restaurant
Very nice and clean
Good location
Great Everything.
The front desk staff Kay, checked me in, she even held the door open while I brought in my luggage, Jasmine checked me out in a courteous manner. I will definitely be back and refer others to this wonderful atmosphere and hospitality. Joey
location
Location is fantastic
Great location and amenities for short business stay
Our room smelled horrible. I asked the front desk to come check out the room, instead they gave me unscented room spray. Used the whole tiny bottle and did not help. I felt ill all night long smelling the horrible smell. Then, in the morning when I checked out, I once again told the front desk and the lady said nothing to make me feel better about paying for a room that smelled absolutely horrible. Customer service was awful and they did not care at all.
Very clean
The room was very clean, they also have a resteraunt on site.
The staff was great. Food was ok. Room was clean but everything is old. The furniture was stained & the carpets were really old. The bed smelled funny
front desk employees didn't like the cold weather
My stay here was beyond amazing
This is my first time at a Sophie Property. It came up on a hotel search for the Ice Sculptures. Went to Fairbanks for 2 days of fun. My favorite restaurant was closed (The Pump House) but still found some nice places to eat. I would definitely use Sophie properties again. Thanks
We enjoyed our stay here. Good place to stay for a nice relaxed vacation. The rooms also have a decently equipped kitchen. Can make basic things like scrambled eggs etc. for breakfast.
