Great hotel. Room was comfortable, clean and good value.
Beautiful hotel with lovely breakfast options
The Somerset House was a lovely hotel. The rooms were spacious and the bathroom was very nice. Good hot shower and the room was serviced. The food for breakfast was really good. We had family join us for breakfast and they were very impressed. The only negatives were the very limited parking on the streets nearby and the fact that the room had a small wardrobe but no luggage rack or anything else so we had bags suitcase and shoes just laying around the room. More storage would have been nice. Overall though excellent and very quiet. We will stay again we we are next visiting Southsea.
I was disappointed at the lack of "extras", which I had expected for the price I paid. This was booked as a surprise for my husband, and was expecting more of a " wow", which was embarrassing. The room was pleasant, but not worth the high price, I'm sorry to say. The pillows were hard and lumpy, and the beverage selection quite poor, with only sachets of coffee and milk. This doesn't make me happy to leave negative comments, but as this was supposed to be a special trip, I feel I need to have my say.
The hotel was very clean large room very nice stay. only negative was charged 3 50 for bottle of water which could have been out of tap not a sealed top. And was a bit far out from main town
This is a great hotel to stay at. Good value with a first class breakfast.
Lovely hotel
Weekend away
Spacious clean room. Great customer service as always. Helpful staff in both the hotel and their pub.
Good stay: clean rooms, free parking, great servic
Good stay! Clean rooms, free parking and great service. Only negative: you can hear the people above your room walk around.
Sadly not a great stay, cold, noisy and couldn’t get any food despite advert stating there was a restaurant.
Wonderful
Beautifully decorated room number 4 Lovely old house but again beautifully decorated Parked on the road directly outside the hotel with the use of a free parking permit
Clean and convenient for my purpose. Reasonable value.
Very well kept place clean tidy and friendly
A few more days next time
Room was of a high standard. Staff were also very good. Food was great. Had a very nice stay and would definitely go back.
Lovely hotel in a quiet location
Lovely hotel, friendly staff and an excellent breakfast. The room was spacious and comfortable as was the bathroom. The only negative was the size of the separate toilet, which was very cramped.
This is such a great boutique hotel! Very charming and feels like home. The staff was incredible.
Lovely place
Lovely stay at Somerset House.
Lovely stay at Somerset House. Staff were so hard working and the food was very good. Fresh pizza was amazing. Would definitely recommend.
A really well run hotel with character in a pleasant part of Southsea. Whilst the structure of the buildings poses some constraints the staff and management overcome this with a great work ethic and service standard. I would look forward to staying again when visiting Portsmouth. :-)
Pleasant guest house.
Perfect Southsea stay
My husband and I have just returned from an overnight stay at Somerset House, so we could go to a gig locally at the Wedgewood rooms. The whole experience was seamless and could not have been more perfect. We had a beautiful ground floor room, with a king size bed, luxurious furnishings and lovely bathroom. When we checked in the receptionist was amazing, gave me the permit, took our booking for breakfast and even moved our checkout time a little for a work meeting I needed privacy for ...she even went as far as to walk with us to our room and explain the WiFi and access process. The building felt so secure and the location was so so quiet. We also had breakfast included with the price of our room, so much choice and gorgeous food. In all honesty, we wished we had stayed longer, it was just such a wonderful experience and will definitely be staying again.
Convenient location in Southsea & friendly staff
Two Night Stay
Lovely 2 night stay at Somerset House. Excellent Breakfast across the road in Florence House, this did not cause us a problem. Plenty of Restaurants about a 8 min walk for our evening meal. Hotel was clean and staff friendly.
Jolly good stay
Good stay. They were having some building work done to garden room. It did not effect our stay at all. Really good breakfast the next morning
Friendly staff. Clean and perfect for an overnight stay
.
Room was beautiful and clean and staff were lovely but the room was so cold and the heating went off overnight.
Great
Ellie and the staff were so helpful and made us feel really welcome. The room we had was cheerful clean and spacious. (could have done with a double wardrobe rather than the one they had in there) the breakfast was delicious and plenty of choice. Its less than 5 mins from sea so in a good position. Well done all. We shall definitely pay another visit when the weather improves. Trish Jones
Overall was excellent
Highly recommend Somerset House
Would highly recommend this boutique hotel. Very polite and friendly staff, lovely, comfortable room, great location, great pub a stones throw away for delicious food that offer 15% off for guests of the hotel. Had a great stay.
Convenient area to visit the area and family who live there. Good access to seafront. Parking a potential issue. Bit confusing where to check in as no signage on building to say we needed to go to a different hotel.
Excellent place to stay, very clean and comfortable.
Lovely holiday
Lovely hotel. Friendly and helpful staff. Huge portions In restaurant and very tasty food. Finding a parking space can be tricky but free parking tokens issued if off site. Very close to sea front. Would definitely revisit
The hotel is in a wonderful location close to the beach. It is walking distance to Dday museum and king Henry V111 castle. The food at the restaurant was spectacular and the staff was extremely helpful and kind
Lovely hotel
Extremely clean and particularly lovely carpets! Shower was great. While styled in a great way, the room lacked simple things like table space, a plug socket near to the mirror, and a fan to help cope with the heat. If I stayed again I would request a non-ground floor room.
Very narrow on street parking with hotel supplied permit. No room to park near hotel , so had to park three streets away and carry bags.
Somerset hotel
Very friendly efficient staff. Room clean and both Somerset and Florence hotels were very tidy and clean The room was pricey but this was due to Goodwood festival of speed been on. Good choice for breakfast. Good location .will definitely stay there again.
Fantastic Journey
This hotel is a gem. Very comfortable and good service. The breakfast is very enjoyable. Convenient to go to many places. Will recommend to anyone who prefers to stay near the sea side.
Comfortable room but noisy toilet
Large, warm twin room. Comfortable beds. Superb breakfast with lovely service across the road in main hotel. Good location, close to theatre and seafront. Separate toilet in tiny cabin room. From 1am, could not stop it filling & unable to reduce the noise as door very loud to open/shut. Receptionist pleasant but defensive. Kept reiterating we should have called night porter to investigate. Did not know there was one and as, pensioners,1am was far too late. No offer to compensate for disturbed night. A shame.
A lovely 1 night stay
My partner and I stayed here for 1night. Our room was lovely, tidy and clean and the shower was so nice! Staff were so friendly and helpful, breakfast was delicious and very catered for, for Gluten free. We were barely a 5 minute walk from the beach and a cheap taxi ride ( £3.80 to be exact!) from The Kings Theatre. We would definitely return to Somerset house Boutique and hotel.
Family holiday
Very nice place. Clean and beautiful decoration room. Excellent location, and delicious food!!!
Good choice hotel.
It was difficult finding the reception to check in but once we found it everything was plain sailing. The receptionist was very nice and very helpful. Our room was in the attic which was fine for a one night stay. It was spotlessly clean and comfortably warm and cosy. The breakfast was delicious. All the staff were very pleasant Top marks to this hotel.
Hotel
Room was bang on can’t fault it parking can be a nightmare if it’s busy that’s only issue.
A gem
Parking a little tricky which should be explained better in the re-arrival stage. Fantastic room although the bed a little soft for me personally. Bathroom lovely though a few repairs needed. Awesome shower and toiletries. Vegan option for breakfast 👍
It was very quiet and in a residential area only 5 mis walk from the seafront. Excellent and comfortable rooms. We had a large shower instead of a bath but it was spotless and obe of the best shower experiences ive ever had. Great choice of tasty food at breakfast. Staff were really friendly and helpful offering the bonus of free on-strewt parking. Much nicer than a large impersonal hotel.
Didn’t like Going out of the building to have breakfast
Lovely place. Perfect for dog owners!
Beautiful room, lovely area and 2 mins from the beach. very well equipped and comfortable. My only complaint was that being on the ground floor we did get disturbed by other guests coming and going up the stairs and the alarm on the door handles. Other than that perfect. The food was absolutely amazing, both in the pub and at breakfast. Staff all lovely and super helpful and the whole place is super dog friendly and welcoming. Would recommend just not ground floor. :)
Very nice - looks and comfort
Stayed for one night, very comfortable room with plenty of space and very nicely presented
