Two persons to stay 4 nights, but for 3 nights, only provide 3 bath towel. Whole room only had 2 uncomfortable chairs. Shower and hand
great place to stay and dine ! awesome staff and amazing restaurant !
Great location
In great location if you have a car. Parking some times can be tricky as there is the restaurant customers that park there also. Service was ok. Bathrooms a bit outdated.
Nice hotel with good and responsive staff.
Liked the historic buildings and the idea of a more sustainable/mindful approach but felt it was not authentic. More of an excuse for poor quality, run down, one step up from camping. Old buildings also mean you hear every step and sneeze from Neighbors beside and above. Didn’t sleep for 5 nights
Peefection
Just perfect
Old fittings in the washrooms But room is quiet and nice
Great place to stay.
Great food at the restaurant but the rooms are very basic. Not even a hook to hang your towel or the bathmat. No privacy if you open the bathroom window, extractor fan in bathroom didn't work. You have to have the blinds closed all the time to have any privacy so the room is very dark.
Room small no tv a little noisy but otherwise good
Overnight stay - Staff friendly and very helpful. Convenient location.
Missed some of the basic things in this price. Microwave was mising in room. Room didnt have locks in bathrom door. Big privacy issue for a family. Not everyone is a couple. No allotted parking for guests. Guests with rooms had to park outside while temporary guests were parking inside. Overall terrible management.
Horrible service and the room is dark and terrible and it needs updating and should not be put on market for customers! Hopeless! The room has outdated taps and it was very terrible. The staff was rude and they didn’t have basic amenities like TV in the room.
We had a lovely one night stay at Sherwood but it could have been slightly better. We did message ahead of time as it was our anniversary, and we were told that a note would be made of this on our booking and then nothing was done on arrival. The bed was very comfy and the rooms cosy. The service was good too. There was a function which was very loud, so we requested a fan to be brought to the room which was promptly given to us. Parking was a bit of a challenge, we had to do a couple of loops to try and find a car park as it was so busy. A good stay and I would recommend, but just a couple of areas that could be improved :)
Great value stay everything had been thought of.
This eco friendly property is overpriced. Mountain View rooms don't really have the view. The Spanish speaking person at friend desk was rude. Food options were decent but there was a lot of wait time. Bed was comfortable and room was spacious.
This is my go to place every time i come to Queenstown. It is cozy, warma nd welcoming. The people are friendly and accomodating. Also adore their commitment to sustainability and community. Highly recommend!
Great place to stay.
Second time back and can’t wait for the third time!
Comfortable hotel in attractive setting, conveniently situated between airport and town with easy access to bus route and views over the lake. Restaurant has excellent service and a very interesting menu. To be recommended.
Decent value for money comfortable but lacking some more comfortable features like a couch or television.
Great restaurant, not so great rooms. Lot of “eco-friendly” measures that just lower the quality of stay (e.g., rooms haven’t been renovated “intentionally”). Away from town so probably need to take the bus, uber, or drive.
Will recommend for a couple or friends staying together but definitely not for a family with child
Love love loved sherwood! Being big greenies, we were stoked to go to a hotel that was actively making positive changes for the environment and we loved the restaurant with its beautiful fresh garden produce, you could really taste the difference! Thank you!
About a 7-minute drive from the Queenstown city center is this wonderful hotel. We stayed in a room with queen bunk beds. The walls were made of concrete and tiled cork, which meant that sound was absorbed. The bathroom was functional, and the room included tea and coffee facilities, a kettle, a heater, and a bar fridge. Surprisingly, there was no television. Guest Wi-Fi was a bit slow during peak times, which means that if you are watching streaming services, you can expect buffering or delays. Thick insulated curtains kept the room warm. There was an onsite restaurant, and we had no issues finding parking spots. There were also free water refills at reception. Sherwood Queenstown is the ideal place with wonderful mountain views.
Beautiful location. Interesting room with concrete floor, cork walls and curtains made from blankets. Beds exceptional, very comfortable with plenty of blankets so very warm. No Television in the room nor any milk in the fridge. Shower water took awhile to work out how to get hot water but then a lovely shower. Easy to find with gardens showing the name- we arrived at night. Restaurant had nice food but fairly expensive. Would recommend the hotel.
We loved our waterfall view room. Everything was beautifully laid out and presented. We will definitely stay again
Great place
Clean and quiet and safe environment which was important since I was traveling and dining alone.
have stayed here a lot .. love it
I like the cool vibe. The restaurant is the main selling point for sure. Excellent menu and food to match! Service is exceptional. This place reminds me of Dr. Wilkinson’s Hotel in Calistoga CA. A renovated (basic) motel made modern.
not too big but has something different from the other.
Enjoyed our 3 night stay. Only challenge during our stay was water pressure being very low and unable to get more than luke warm showers. Reception explained though it was not linked to the property and rather work being done nearby.
Liked that the Sherwood used sustainable products where possible and great recycling facilities. Other accommodations could learn from them.
Fabulously welcoming and responsive staff. Restaurant food innovative , fresh and inspired. Very reasonably priced. I love this place and will be back.
The room was tidy and quiet, making the perfect get away from the hustle and bustle of the day and town
Loved it all
I went to have a breakfast and asked for an omelette instead of scramble eggs!!!because scramble eggs have butter and omelettes just need to mix the egg and done!!! But the staff didn't want to listen to me and arrogantly said we can't make your omelette we don't have a pan for that. Even the manager, using an arrogant tone, said we don't have an omelette!!! I was trying to explain that it was simpler than scramble eggs but they preferred to maintain their arrogance than listen to me. They didn't want to make it. I felt frustrated because it was an easy option, "eggs" only! I travel all over the world and I have never encountered this difficulty in hotels.i will not back there anymore
The best place in QT to eat and rest your head
The staff were lovely and the restaurant is great, but the room was SO NOISY. Our room was on the bottom floor next to the stairs and it was just footsteps and thumping the entire time. The room is nothing special but I do like the ethos of the place. I recommend the yoga class but we wouldn't stay again.
In property restaurant there was private function due to this property guest wasn’t allowed to dine on 9/08/24 I also was denied entry in restaurant then I had to order online to get dinner not worth it to stay
The property location is nice. Close to queenstown and tucked up on a hill. Very quaint and a restaurant on site if needed. However upon arrival we were aggressively asked to upgrade and tour more expensive rooms. Staff even came after we checked in to our room to ask again for us to move and spend extra ($100 a night). So our room didn’t have a view and we wonder if this is a tactic to make more money. There were things that didn’t work in the room and when mentioned were not addressed. What was really disappointing is we forgot 2 items in the room and realized after being on the road for an hour. I emailed them to let them know exactly what was forgotten and where and their response was that nothing was left. I followed up and never heard back. One item was my electrical adapter and it was still in the box but was apparently nowhere to be found. In any event, nice enough place but wouldn’t go back.
Overall its very good value for money and was a great experience. Some areas to improve, Parking can fill up in the evening if you arrive too late. The heating could be better, but it depends which room you get. The bed was a bit hard and a lower quality then average. Lastly if you use a sauna regularly its a bit cooler then avg. For us it maxed at 60 degrees celcius.
Great location, atmosphere, nice room setup (2 rooms and kitchen in between), very nice personnel
Great place, bad parking though.
Restaurant is outstanding
stay another night
Staff and vibe are the best in town. The food and drinks are fantastic
Great service, atmosphere and safety. Could not recommend this place enough
It was a lovely property, close to public transport and the teas and coffees provided were divine. I also loved the environmental focus of the property. I would definitely stay there again and recommend highly to family and friends.
Very ecological with beautiful views of the lake and mountain tops. Dinner at the restaurant was exceptional as well!
Beautifully styled rooms & great views. A TV/monitor would have been good in the room.
The rooms were constructed and decorated using recycled materials. Impressive and stylish! Loved the small kitchenette with wine glasses. The restaurant was excellent! Highly recommend this place.
The dining experience was really good. Interesting menu options, well presented and delicious. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Grounds were well maintained
The staff and dining were excellent however the room and room facilities were not great. The shower had poor controls - either lukewarm or scalding; lighting was very dim and given the industrial style decor, it made the room very dark and unwelcoming. It was necessary to keep the lights on whenever in the room and given there were no blinds or net curtains on the floor length windows there was a lack of privacy as all those walking past to get to their own rooms could see right into the room. There was also no television in the room.
First time I’ve ever slept in queen size bunkbeds. Beds were very comfortable and I enjoyed the stay while there.
Don't stay if you're a TV addict
Very loud thumping music at night. Basic for the price.
The experience was just OK at the hotel. The rooms were ‘renovated’ in a very minimalist style that doesn’t always make sense (no countertop in bathroom to put anything, no dining table, not enough power outlets.. little things, but annoying). The parking was constantly full, sauna all booked the same day… no gym… great Chinese massage, the restaurant delicious but almost impossible to get a table mid week without reservation…
Not for me - No TV, little parking.
There is no TV, so no news or weather; you would think that a TV is a given, but I guess they don't say there IS one. The parking is very inadequate. People were circling around the buildings on the narrow road trying to find a space close to their building. We parked 3 buildings away, and many had to park in overflow by the street quite a ways away. The bed, chairs, and dresser table is very short (less than 38 cm or 15 inches), and cannot read the text on the radio unless you are on you hands and knees. Very hard for taller people.
Can't say enough good things about Sherwood. It's my third stay there and the concept, comfort and aesthetics, luxe touches for a mid range price and amazing facilities (especially the sauna) are second to none in Queenstown. You really feel pampered and cosy and everything smells wonderful, I wish I could buy their furniture and blankets. The staff are wonderful, I love the firepits and the massage onsite with Suellen was fantastic. Breakfast/coffee onsite were great.
Everything in room way too low for anyone with back issues. No TV. An audio device that required a page of instructions to operate it. A cheap plastic ill fitting toilet seat, that made a horrible noise with the slightest movement. One of the lights above the bed not working. I rang the property during reception hours twice, a day before arrival, regarding a possible upgrade, with nil response & no message. I then emailed them, again nil response. When this was mentioned on arrival, just a shrug of the shoulders. I felt the customer service was very poor. Very limited parking.
We enjoyed being a bit out of the main city for our stay in Queenstown. The bus stops right in front of the hotel were really convenient - much cheaper and less stressful than finding parking in Queenstown. There's also a nice trail that follows the lake, which we walked on in the evenings. We would stay here again.
Went to dinner and was "served" by a very rude waitress. We left and went to a pub! Our hotel room was very nice and quiet with good facilities.
The carpet is a bit old.
Unfortunately a case of bad neighbours, however using the Sherwood FB message service, having been seen, resulted in no response to load music from neighbouring that continued through to midnight
I feel that they have gone overboard with being organic. The oganic teabags are not my taste. No T V in room to have to go to reception for a tablet is ridiculous. No carpet on floor was cold
Quirky, eco, interesting, fun, location.
Loved it - Quirky, eco, interesting, fun, location, facilites, history, narrative, had it all , very very enjpoyable and intersting.,. would stay again in a heartbeat. No TV. ! Seems mean to mention, but parking was limited and did take a few "loops" to find a spot.. Otherwise all different but very interesting..... not for pampered 6 star facility seekers,
It was absolutely waste of money! Too expensive & very old and terrible facility & service. No hot water(really terrible!), no heater working, no microwave, no calmness(very squeaky floor & noisy heavy door), no response, no kindness, no privacy, only one toilet without lock for 6 people.
Nice place, quiet and good restaurant
Dinner and breakfast in the restaurant was the best food we ate in our week away - absolutely beautiful
Very nice accommodation. Seems design for quiet relaxation
Very clean and quirky. Drinks were expensive. Food expensive but very good.
Charming place to stay. Staff were really helpful and great banter. Sauna was sooooo good! Accomodation was warm and comfy. The covers on the beds also used as couches was a genius idea and the kids loved their beds. Would prefer a little expansion on the breakfast menu, but other than that, would highly recommend staying here.
Artsy vibe. Bar and restaurant on site.
A bit rustic a bit quirky - all in a great way. Clean and nice. Would surely stay there again.
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Loved the vege garden area, so serene and lovely view. Location was great, in between Frankton and Queenstown with bus stop not far away. Just a few little luxuries we would have liked. The choice to have a tv in the Family Apartment for those days when wet and ended up staying in. A microwave to heat up food. A lamp in the spare room of the family apartment instead of having to turn light off in the other bedroom. Maybe mirror in bedroom. Parking was abit random for guests staying, first in first served but hard when there’s someone with a disability and you have to park further away. Other than that, we really enjoyed it.
Great location and view. No body lotion in bathroom, so bring your own if you need it.
Poorly maintained - dripping bathroom taps, toilet door handle came off, toilet cistern flush mechanism fell apart Lack of microwave, kitchen was old and dated Water pressure very poor, shower basin filled up and drained slowly Lack of carparking for guests staying
Good location. Friendly staff. Parking is total shambles though. Parking spots are unallocated but some aggressive guests physically stood in parking spots to block others from using them. Apparently this was to "reserve" the spot outside their room until their car returned. The path to get into and out of the hotel was also very narrow and created huge hassles for driving in and out. Especially when food delivery vans would be stopped near the only car entrance to the facility. Staff paid no notice to the aggressive guests and the poor traffic management. Not a pleasant way to end our stay
This is a converted motel and not a hotel. The ECO ethos while commendable means that the rooms are very basic and dated, there are no TVs or microwaves in the room. If you are downstairs off the car park you need to keep your thick curtains to have any privacy which makes the room very dark and feels like you’re in the body of a boat. Also check there’s no music event on during your stay, the whole room shook with bass during 90 minute rehearsal in the afternoon and then the concert finished at 9.30 so no chance of getting young kids to sleep.
So charming 💜
I loved this property. So many unique, personal touches. I also appreciate their commitment to the environment! Staff was friendly & accommodating. Will definitely stay again if I’m back in the area!
good environment, comfortable bed and bedclothes。
Great restaurant great service.
Absolutely loved our stay at Sherwood, super lovely and accommodating team and our room was perfect for our family :)
The room was great but we woke to no water one day and were not informed of what was happening until we went to reception. I would have expected a notice under the door. Construction noise and no privacy when the workers were walking by the only windows. Someone left a storage room door adjar all night as it slammed in the wind. Other than these things the staff were helpful and pleasant and we enjoyed the room.
It is a super nature hotel, great view and environment, no USB outlet and as foreign we had to buy a switch outlet to charge our phone. The restroom has barely no place for personal item and shower is too close to the rest facilities. I must say even I was quite enjoy the view and stay, overall I feel kind of inconvenient for how stay. But the free parking is super bonus for Queenstown and I must emphasis this point.
Such a beautiful energy at the Sherwood, they have made it look amazing and it has everything you need!
I really enjoyed the stay at Sherwood, they create a cozy and tranquil vibe of the hotel which is a good option for holiday travel!
I think we stayed at the Sherwood during a weekend where they were drastically understaffed. We arrived at 3pm, our check in time was supposed to be 3, but we were told to potentially go to the bar and come back at 4. Ok, not a problem, when we returned, oh we have to
Checkin was only at 6:30pm and there was a suggestion to go to the restaurant however no tables were available. A discounted drink or some offer for having to stay around would have been appreciated. Paying to wait at the restaurant was not ideal. However, the staff were friendly and assisted with an early checkout.
Property was eco and basic. The shower had a high instep and slippery floor, which is not good for elderly people. The fridge was very small and no freezer facility for our travel freezer blocks.
We weren’t sure what to expect, booked this on a whim and then absolutely adored our time at Sherwood. Beyond their commitment to the environment, we loved our room and all of the small details. Also loved the on site restaurant. Amazing food and atmosphere. We were able to walk to Altitude Brewing and the K Jet dock and then used the bus (very convenient) to get everywhere else including into town. Would highly recommend.
Good rooms. Enjoyed the sauna facility. Excellent food at the restaurant.
Overpriced. Room furniture bare bones. Chairs uncomfortable. No working area like a table or desk. Privacy only possible closing heavy curtains. No sheers. As for restaurant even at breakfast loud music playing. They claimed unable to turn it off. So I never ate there. One upside. I needed to dry clothes. They gave it free. Didn't need the laundry part, was done the day before.
The room was clean,very comfortable.
Loved the restaurant and sauna, loved the vibe at The Sherwood, relaxing rooms with good views of the remarkables and lake, no tv, stayed for 4 days with my adult son who wanted to watch rugby, friendly and accommodating staff
Nice clean and easy access
Chose this accommodation for location with dining options. The room was spacious and comfortable along with all we needed for our overnight stay within walking distance of the restaurant. Although there wasn’t a television in the room, the wifi and great water pressure along with heating made our stay great. If you prefer to stay outside the cbd with a short drive to town this is the place for you. Stairs the only issue for mobility challenged but there are downstairs rooms.
Liked our stay here. It was a short drive to downtown for shops and food. The property itself was nice and the room was spacious.
Amazing food, rooms and vibe.
Right away, we noticed that the parking situation was insane, with only one parking space it seemed for every 5 rooms. It was difficult to get our bags to the unlit stairwells to get them up to our room. We walked into the room and one of the only really nice things I can say about the room is that it had music playing on a stereo. The room looked like it hadn't been updated since 1970, as it had cork on the walls and light fixtures that were older than me. The staff was helpful, though.
