Could’ve used more art work in the rooms/bathrooms. Very minimal . Clean property.
Awesome location and friendly and professional staff
Super quiet and beautiful property
A few blocks from the bars of 6th Street and Franklin BBQ .Hotel can use a facelift. No upgraded room for bonvoy status. Had to change rooms at 130 am due to Ac being broken. The second rooms Ac did not work well and we needed to call the engineers on our 2nd day. All else was just averrage.
$75 for one night of valet parking was way too much.
I took an extremely important package that needed to go out UPS tot he front desk and the person said he would make sure it went out that day (February 6th) and I just found out that it has never been given to UPS and is now costing me $1,000. I’m beyond livid at this facility.
Nice stay
Overall it was a nice stay. I would stay here again
I thought the reno was imaginative and the people who worked there very nice but the large encampment of unhomed people felt very comfortable strolling the property. My husband thought it felt shabby.
Very nice property. The room I stayed in could benefit from some maintenance. Other than that, it was really good
Facts
Our trip was a lot of fun. The room cost $293 a night. Room 1500. Our room was beautiful and the bed was very comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful when needed. Don’t expect a lifted truck to fit in the parking garage. We ate at the poolside restaurant in the hotel. The food was great. We spent another $115. The Moody Center was still a little far to walk too, so we drove and spent another $40 on parking. Wife was wearing high heals. The coffee in the room was memorable and very good coffee. Checking out was easy.
Everyone at the hotel was amazing. My understanding is this used to be a different hotel chain, not part of the marriott family that it is now. There were issues in the room. Not big stuff, just little stuff, knobs falling off, the heater grate falling off. Just ittle stuff.
Rooms are small and dark. Very limited storage for your clothes. No fan in the bathroom. Location is great for walking to 6th Street and restaurants.
We loved the fun and unique design of this hotel, and the Morningbird cafe was delicious! However, the room temperature was uncomfortably warm, and adjusting the thermostat didn’t seem to change anything. No fan in the bathroom left the room even warmer and muggier after a shower. The ambiance in the room was a cool idea, but the vanity lighting was too dark and made getting ready difficult.
Very clean Well located Staff friendly
I loved the decor, on-site parking, and proximity to preferred areas of Austin. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming.
Great, convenient location. Clean, good food right near the hotel.
Great overall-super helpful staff and great amenities on site for the family
Very cute decor. Convenient to UT campus.
Wonderful Stay. Very cute hotel.
It was fine
Very nice rooms and super friendly staff. Very classy place
The hotel its self was very nice, comfortable beds, very nice staff. Only downfall is the parking amount, if I remember correctly it’s 55 a night with in and out privileges. Other than that I would definitely stay again. I loved the pink theme!
Nice looking hotel, with comfortable bed and spacious room. Helpful staff.
Beautiful hotel, very fun atmosphere and a nice staff! Highly recommend
Great!!!
Friendly staff, room was adequate, and a good view of downtown. but the wifi in the room only worked 1 of the 4 days we were there. And there were no glasses in the room, only paper cups that were tucked away in a cupboard. Within walking distance of Downtown and UT.
I love the decoration, the food was good.
Beautiful clean and tastefully decorated hotel with fantastic views. Rooms were large and bedding was very comfortable. Location was good but required a walk or drive to local amenities. Hotel had a restaurant with meals that were tasty but very expensive. Limited options for me as a gluten free guest. The Wifi was not working throughout our stay either in room or lobby area. But, overall, this hotel was very comfortable.
called the police, otherwise awesome
It was a lovely place, but there was a very loud fight in the room next to me and I had to call the police at about 3:30 in the morning. I went downstairs and requested a new room and was offered a complimentary breakfast. The staff was very kind and friendly and ordinarily I wouldn’t complain about something that was outside of anyone’s control but I was up most of the night and didn’t get to enjoy my stay really at all.
Downright was excellent, the customer care and service where outstanding.
Nice hotel which was walkable to almost everything and not a long drive from the airport. Could hear some roadway noise as it's next to the highway but to be expected. Staff attentive, room size was good, bed had the right amount of firmness. Also liked the shower and soaps. Nice security feature to us the elevator and the lobby was large with plenty of chances to sit.
Great staff
Girls trip
Hotel is excellent. The staff is super friendly. Our first room had something going on with the heat and AC. One quick phone call down to the front desk and they were able to switch our rooms right away. All the details and decor in the hotel Are so well-thought-out and creative. I really enjoyed my stay here and would love to come back again.
Amazing staff and amenities! Beautiful stay
We like the retro vibe of the hotel. It was clean, nice beds and pillows, and I loved the shower. Even has the cutout to turn on the shower without getting hit with cold water. The hotel does show it's age a little, but these things were not deal breakers: the heat/cooling in the room was finicky, there is not enough storage in the room, and our fridge didn't work (we didn't use it and told the hotel). I was sad there was not a hot tub, but the outdoor pool was ridiculously warm, like bathwater. It was nice!
The esthetics and decor was amazing!
OK for one night. Pretty good location.
An old Sheraton hotel updated on a low budget. Nothing special but nothing terrible either.
Great stay at downright
I took my boyfriend here for 2 nights so we could celebrate his birthday in austin. We absolutely loved the atmosphere and aesthetic of the downright hotel. the front desk service was very helpful and friendly the whole time as well. parking at the hotel (and anywhere downtown austin) was expensive, but most of what we did was walking distance from the hotel so it didnt damper the experience. We loved our stay and would be excited to visit again sometime
The property was excellent throughout - starting with the front desk staff - Muhammet was great at checkin and gave us an upgrade on both of our rooms. Jennifer helped us in the morning for the breakfast credits. We had dinner and breakfast at the hotel - food and service were both excellent. The rooms themselves were well appointed and clean. The hotel is very close to the Capitol building and self parking with in/out privileges was very convenient.
Lovely staff!
Nice hotel but the staff need training
Booked two rooms for a family trip to Austin. Requested connecting rooms and was told they were. Got upstairs and they were not. Had to go back down to the service desk and wait in a long line to fix the rooms. Then the day of check out i needed a key replacement and the person working the front desk was very unprofessional when I needed a key replacement.
Such a fun place to stay!
The front desk was very friendly and knowledgeable. They gave great recommendations on where to go and how to get there.
Jarred at the check in desk was amazing, lots of great recommendations. We are on the quiet side of the property and on a high floor, and it’s still super noisy.
Property was conveniently located in downtown area to capital and a couple of blocks from campus. Room was clean and ok. Great views through large window. Enjoyed the breakfast. Room AC unit had issues, looked like they were working on it as the panel was not installed.
Was a very good night and easy to get food in the local Austin area. Staff was super helpful as well. The hotel dining options were good.
No
Great hotel for longhorn football game day. Staff was amazing!
Cleanliness and spacious room
I Won't be Back
Pros: convenient to where I needed to be, newly renovated Cons: 1. Cafe ran out of coffee and a fruit cup at 7:15 a.m. 2. Cafe service very slow and unfriendly. 3. "Restaurant" hard to find and very uninviting. Theme is dining in an empty swimming pool. 4. Service very slow for bar service and food,, though there were only 3 tables occupied
Would come back, would recommend.
The hotel was very nice and clean. The staff was also very friendly. We enjoyed the breakfast in the morning with our coffee ☕️
Excellent Stay Downtown Austin
Really enjoyed tmstay here; room was clean comfortable and nicely furnished. Welcome from front desk excellent including complimentary hot chocolate (dash of rum in it!) Very convenient for exploring downtown
Every time I’m in Austin-I stay here!
Marc Anthony
Great stay, location and great service
Great/eclectic. Perfect w/ a little improvement.
Overall very good! Embraces is 1980s roots. Take confirmation of any package offerings because this platform did not transmit the free parking or the food credit. (Check-in employee immediately honored it.) Two out of the four front desk employees were very friendly and one remembered my name later. Room was very comfortable after they promptly fixed the thermostat. There needs to be better lighting above the sink. Shower products are great but the lotion does not have a pleasant smell. The quick service breakfast place is overpriced (even for a hotel) and needs one more cook because it was slow.
Downright Austin No Picnic
Will not ever stay at Downright again. Hotel has quality control problem. Small but very irritating details that make a person’s stay a positive experience. No soap at the bathroom counter and no trash can in bathroom. Hair dryer would not plug into wall. Took the dryer downstairs and gave to any employee who said he would take care of it. Three hours later when I returned to the room it had not been delivered yet. Called front desk and they had it sent to my room. It wouldn’t plug into wall either. Third time was a charm. The kicker was I stayed at the hotel last year and the toilet paper holder was dangling off the wall. This year, the same exact thing happened! What are the odds? But the coup de grace was that breakfast bar ran out of coffee by 7:15 AM! That is inexcusable!
Breakfast and resultant are not good. Low quality food.
Great stay
Wonderful and Happy Staff
Beautiful room with a great view of Austin! Super comfy beds, too. I really like how you have to use a key card on the elevator, for added security. All staff members we encountered were super helpful and friendly.
Up to date, clean and convenient setup.
Great find!
Such a great find! Very eclectic and original. Food was great, drinks were great, room was comfy, clean and quiet.
Beautiful place, well designed. The only complaint- hallway carpets need deep cleaning.
Staff was excellent- however we had to change rooms so my mother could have a bar in the shower. The original room was great the new accessible room had the following issues: -zero overhead lights - very dark at night -no microwave -batteries in shade were out so had to leave shades open -no hot water in bathroom sink -shower water temp had no regulation- would run cold 10 min -then warm up but shower quick cause scalding hot after 5 minutes of ideal temp-I think the gears were stripped -room had a safe but it was not turned on so it did not function Overall, I think this was the only accessible room available but it had quite a few issues the first room did not -we did not complain to the staff since we had already asked to change rooms and did not want to be difficult
Bonito el decor por todo lado, pero se notaba que algunas cosas se estaban envejeciendo.
It was afe
Love how helpful the staff at the property were. Also the lobby is so vibrant and colorful- such a pleasant site
I loved how they made our beds and changed our towels daily
Meh
The garage is horrible. Signs are on one side to pay and then it's easy to scrape your rims on the other side, as you are looking on the pay side on the other side. Did I mention, this messed up my new car. Also, valet didn't budge when I pulled up. I had to walk up to them. Front desk said everyone scraps their rims in the garage, including themselves. When I checked in, they made me pull out my laptop and show them the free parking and $22 credit per day, then only gave me $20 credit for two days. The customer service was very poor. When I asked for any questions, they seemed bothered to help. Overall, meh. I'm most upset about messing up my car for a subpar hotel experience. I won't stay there again. Also, when I was checking out, the only front desk person, got in line behind me to get a coffee for herself, and then asked to give me a small breakfast credit for all my trouble as I was checking out. What will I do with a breakfast credit when I'm leaving, already bought a coffee, and have someplace to be by a certain time? It's like the customers are an afterthought to their own personal needs. Also, when I checked in, the front desk clerk complained about how they were tired from working last night and today, late afternoon. Meanwhile, I had 4 hours of sleep and commuted from one major city to another. It seemed like I was providing more customer service to the employees there than they did for me.
Close to everything was convenient
Everything was lovely. Very nice staff.
Had a great experience, will definitely book again next time in town.
Stay here
The stay was great but our AC unit was freezing, they fixed it, and then it was boiling. We ended up just turning it off but other than that our stay was great. The hotel was very Austin. We really enjoyed the swim club.
Walkable location and very comfortable room.
The property was within walking distance to 6th street but they charged us for two nights which we only stayed one!
Jared and Mohamed was wonderful, the valet gentlemen younger tall male was wonderful and very helpful. I did not catch the ladies name who checked us out but she was also wonderful. The food was great also. This is the most adorable hotel I’ve ever stayed at, I will. Coming back as soon as possible, thank you for making this trip so easy to endure!
We stayed here because it was close to the venue for the Cindy Lauper concert in Austin. I wasn't very impressed with the facilities. Funky, but in a trying-too-hard way. Dining was limited and expensive. This area of Austin is not very safe, and you pretty much have to Uber to get anywhere.
Pool not maintained well
Average facility, no reason to recommend it over others in the area. Big negative was a lack of an in-room safe.
Family staycation
This staycation was a gift for a family that celebrated a birthday in November. Hotel experience did not disappoint! Highly recommend!
Great place - clean/nice - but a few odd quirks
Traveled as a family (two adults and two small children). Some things you might not know just from the webpage if you haven't stayed here: 1. There is nowhere to leave your car while you check-in. Either you go into self-parking (and pay for it) or you go to the valet (and pay for it) or you ask the valet nicely if you can leave your car parked along the edge for 10 minutes. In my case, the valet was nice and let me do that, but he did make clear that the standard expectation is to pull into self-parking EVEN WHILE checking in. 2. The rooms are art-deco sort of rooms. That is neat and all in the look, but a bit less so in practical aspects. For instance, there is no dresser for your clothes, and no microwave. We asked about both. They were more than happy to have a microwave brought up to our room (within the hour of request) and leave it there for the duration of our stay. I heard them offer the same to another guest who asked, so it must be a regular thing. Nothing they could do about the lack of clothes storage. We simply left our clothes inside the suitcase for four days. 3. If you buy the food package, you get a card good for "two breakfasts", but it isn't quite like you might expect from other hotels. It isn't a buffet rights for two people. Rather, you wait in line and order from the cashier your particular breakfast request. They have about six or seven main meals, and a few side options. Doesn't matter how much the meal costs (on the menu), you ge
The hotel and rooms were old and tired. Room was not particularly clean. A glass in the hallway someone put outside of their room was there for 2 days.
Great place!! I will come back!
Awesome
This hotel is hands down one of the best hotels I’ve stayed at. Staff was extremely welcoming and friendly. The facility gives you a throwback vibe but everything is in excellent condition. The breakfast included with my stay was sooo good!! Definitely will book again anytime we’re in Austin
Our day in Austin
Nice hotel at first our room’s toilet was not flushing properly the maintenance man tried to fix it to no avail. So we were given another room we were pleased with the new room. Enjoyed our stay.
Loved the location and the staff was super friendly.
Nice place!
Property was okay. Housekeeping did not even show up until I returned after 4pm. Cleanliness could have been a little better.
Short 3 day business stay. Room was quiet - great AC.
Girls soccer weekend
The hotel has a really cool theme of “Pink” make sure you visit the Swim Bar and the outside area.
I booked a room with one (King) bed in a high floor and was give the room for individuals with disabilities with two beds on a low floor.
Amazing in every way. Quite pleased.
Room was great, location was great. Had a gew issues with the room, nothing major
I arrived at the property after midnight only to find out that there were no rooms available. This was after I had checked in online with an estimated time of arrival.
Fun place to stay!
This is such a unique property and I loved the atmosphere. Will definitely stay again if in the area.
Cool hotel… good location
Understaffed, not service, poor food selection But good location, easy to get in and out off. Just do t expect any frills
