Sleeping at the Senator

Great stay. Great location as we enjoy the promenade walk to town in one direction and Banus in the other. Good, spacious room and great breakfast with chef to cook eggs of choice.

We stayed one night and chose this hotel as it was pet friendly, the location is great, about a 25 minute beautiful walk to old town. The room is very large but dated, we were given a room right next to the elevator perhaps because we had a small dog with us? The pool area was closed, not sure why, and the gym facilities are very bad. Overall good value for the money if staying in Marbella.

Long time fans of tge hotel and it's wonderful staff. Last two visits were ruined by stag and hen yobs. No such problem this time. Great stay.

The view to the mountains was astonishing. The bed and pillows were super comfortable. The staff promptly helped us with a space heater which made our stay more comfortable and pleasant. The bedroom had a bathtub not a jacuzzi or hot tub with jets in the room, but it was amazing and relaxing. The hotel gifted us with a welcoming Champagne accompanied with fresh fruits. The bartender downstairs was professional and friendly and surely deserved a good tip. Overall, we had a great one night stay.

Amazing place

The hotel location is very convenient and close to the beach, however on our first day arriving, the fridge was not working, the safety box, we need to pay extra to use it, and the shower in the bathroom started leaking! Staff were responsive and tried to solve the issues quickly

overall ok hotel but for sure overpriced and the most ridiculous thing that i ever seen in all the times i traveled… is you have to pay 4€ per day to use the SAFE in the superior room… breakfast was ok, the pul was half empty for some reason. next time will try to stay at a different hotel. good thing is it’s walking distance from the beach.

Found the hotel good , breakfast was easy to find a table and was a good breakfast. Pool area was clean and still ok to find sun beds . Taxi was just outside the hotel. Beds were very comfortable and I would definitely stay here again

A convenient hotel although bar facilities are a little poor. Rooms are clean and spacious and usually (except this weekend) it is very easy to park just outside.

The hotel was great and the staff really friendly . The bar area was very small but welcoming . Surrounding area was great and everything needed was on the doorstep . Only criticism i have was the hotel corridors were very noisy , people talking at all hours outside of hotel rooms , some visitors inconsiderate to other guests who may have been trying to sleep .....luckily the room had an inner door which offered a little more sound proofing . In January the hotel was very Quiet but i imagine in the peak season this hotel would be very popular especially because of its great location . Only

Party hotel, not for sleeping

If you like to party all night in the hotel corridors, this hotel is for you. If, however, you prefer a good nights sleep avoid this hotel at all costs! At 1AM in the morning a gang of suit clad hooligans entered the hotel yelling and screaming, and arriving in their hotel corridor the screaming and partying continued for 2 hours. Despite the reception being informed no action was taken. Do not bother complaining to the manager, no response will be received, I assume their inbox is full, of complaints...

All well and good for the most part. However, once in the suite, documents about the hotel/services were read and we found that as we had a suite, we should've had a fruit platter on arrival. Also, we should've been afforded the option of a late checkout. Bit annoying. Amazing as regards to everything else. Breakfast was something special. Amazing comfort.

Outdated hotel

The property had a lovely pool on the roof with great views. The food was nice and fresh. The rooms were dated but clean. The staff were polite but not overly friendly. Overall good value for money.

Just returned from a weeks golfing. Whilst noting previous comments about the hotel being a little dated which it is, the room was big very clean and tidy with really comfy beds really big bathroom with great shower over bath air con was much needed wouldn’t hesitate to stay again great value well located hotel perfect for a weeks golf thank you

Usual sense of trepidation when one is going to a hotel with somewhat mixed review… needn’t have worried.. from Marco at check in to the other staff members who were equally as lovely …my stay was pleasant there, facilities can be updated to fit with modern trends but at its days, this would have been an elegant hotel. It’s suitable with loads of free parking around,can walk to old town and most central places in Malaga from the hotel, close to the promenade. All in I would stay here again.

Ocean side

The staff were very friendly & helpful. The rooms were clean with lovely big beds. Beach front promenade is only 5 minute stroll away. The breakfast choice & quality was amazing.

Loved the views from the pool deck. The location was also good. The old area and beachfront area have plenty of restaurants. Both were less than a 30-minute walk. We had a car and did day trips to Malaga and Gibraltar -- both were great. The room was a little dated and could use a refresh, but we didn't spend much time in the room. So, that wasn't a big deal for us.

Older property but the king suite is clean, well maintained and great value. Bed was excellent, large bathtub, walk in and decent bathroom. Bottle of "Cava" (sparkling wine) waiting for us and some fruit. Nice touch! Of a bit from Centro so quieter area. Would stay there again

Knowing on the last morning we needed to leave at 8am for our flight home. It would have been helpful if the hotel started breakfast at 7 45 . I'm pretty confident this happens on a weekly basis having witnessed it on my first morning.

The rooftop views are incredible

We loved this place as our last hotel On a three week driving tour of Andalusia. The roof pool has stunning views of the ocean, mountains and winter sunset. We walked easily to the beach where there were tons of cafes, restaurants, and shops. This is the northern part of Marbella, so if you are looking for Gucci etc, you’ll have to drive another 7 minutes down the road. The beds were enormous!! (A nice change from the mountain tours where we shared a full bed). We loved it!

Clean and basic and in need of some tlc. Spa was very disappointing with exception of the massage which was amazing.

Our view was fantastic. Other reviewers complain about the hotel being tired and the furniture being outdated, come one. Are they going to throw away perfectly functioning furniture, bathtubs, tiles and everything? I didnt even find a scratch, the bed was super comfortable, the lights were nice. I specially enjoyed the balcony with views towards the ocean and sunsets. The price was affordable and all the staff was super nice. I will definitely stay here again. Loved it!

Fantastic experience- very kind and helpful staff at a great location. The hotel is elegant and clean and we were so pleased that we extended our stay a week. We will be back here again!

I have stayed here many times over the years. I always enjoy my stay. We checked in early and they where able to accommodate with our room, which was great. Love that thete is a rooftop pool and bar. A short distance away from the old town with plenty of restaurants located on the beach a stroll down the bottom of the road.

Not a 4 *. Rooms good size but very tired & dated. No tea/coffee facilities in room, very old towels. Strong stale cigarette smell in room. A\C didn’t work. Party in room next door to me on last night but reception dealt with it quickly.

My staying there was pleasant. Great location and our room had a great view!!! Second time I stayed there and I it was great both days!

Hugely disappointing

Unbelievably poor. NO WAY a 4 star hotel and can’t believe they have the audacity to charge what they did. The most basic room, NO tea or coffee facilities. A bottle of water in the fridge. They even asked for €20 for an ‘upgrade’, high we stupidly force them before being given the key. Extremely dated and run down hotel. Breakfast was not even 2nd rate. Sparse tired buffet. Will not be back!!

Very friendly and professional staff and located in a great location to travel from. Yet, this is not a 4 star hotel. The problem I had was with the room. Although the room is large and the bathroom was fine. The furniture and lighting is old, furniture was cracked/scratched (looked like something out of a garage sale and not a 4 star hotel) . The mattresses you can feel the springs and the mattress support looked old and dirty. Curtains were clean, but the plastic backing to block out the sun appeared dirty as well.

Good stay, room was nice clean and comfortable, unfortunately they allowed too many people into the Spa at the same time so it was not as relaxing as one would've hoped for and the Hotel restaurant was closed for dinner.

My stay overall was good at Senator Spa Hotel. The hotel is nice, rooms are bit outdated but Clean and bathrooms are nice. I did not have the opportunity to use the spa, though for Hotel guest it should be free. I had a flight cancellation and Hotels.com and The property Senator were playing with me for not giving me a refund. The fault was that senator was not willing to give any refund even though I was staying one extra night due to my flight cancellation. Although the director in Senator office "Direccion" were also there not wanting to even know the issue. Hotels.com on the phone were just trying to be "Nice" but not wanting to give me the refund. I had already given both parties a call the day my flights got cancelled, but they did not take that into consideration! In the end I paid £50 extra for the extra night becuase they did not want to move my dates from 9th Feb to 13th Feb to move to 10th to 14th Feb. Ridiculous as it is, I would not book anything from Senator as they were not wanting to welcome any changes on the booking. Kind regards Hina

Very good hotel

Great hotel. Great location. Very good value. I have stayed here three times. Twice with my partner and once with my partner and young son. I can’t fault it, I have high standards and this ticks all boxes. The beds are really very comfortable and perfect location, next to the beach and beautiful beach front walk all the way from Marbs to Puerto Banus.

Check in took 45 mins wasn’t staffed properly. Spa pool facilities only available if you pay which isn’t mentioned anywhere, no tariff, not on any brochure. Only when you out on the robe and go down are you told you have to pay 29 euros each. It’s a con, they advertise that the facilities included are a spa pool not the case. Get them to make it clear to customers
