Great value and comfortable room with nice view.
Our stay was ok, we paid a lot more than the other hostels but don't feel like we got anything more for the value. It's a nice hostel, dude to the rain we couldn't use the pool. The breakfast area stank of booze in the morning which was quite off putting.
Central to everything in Antigua!
Brian at was a really amazing support!
Selina has many activities and it’s fun to stay there. The staff is amazing. It’s safe but it’s not quiet because it’s not supposed to be quiet. I liked my stay. Will stay again.
Love it there
The staff were amazing, they offered so many activities, it had such a relaxed and fun atmosphere, only complaint was the night time security guy was a little uptight. But all in all, an amzing experience, would definitely stay there again, and even i stayed somewhere else id have to stop by to say hi to the staff.
This is one of best hostels / hotels I’ve ever stayed at! I‘ve stayed here a few times and I’m always surprised at just how down to earth, friendly and accommodating the staff are here. Amazingly friendly and always make me feel at home.
Selina is nice, but there is a clear line between the backpacking traveler and the budget-aware traveler. I think Selina tries to accommodate both but it’s clear it attracts the backpacker more than the budget-aware. The common spaces are cute and quirky, but again it’s quite a young crowd that gathers in the bar in the evenings. I did have a chance to take a yoga class, it’s nice that this is an offering but the outdoor yoga space is right next to the kitchen which is also open air and the people cooking their breakfast were not mindful of their noise and speaking levels at all. Overall it was a decent stay and served its purpose - that being a cost efficient place to stay while we finalized some wedding decisions.
Enjoyed my stay. Love the aesthetic of the property.
The property is great, but the main thing that really took away from the experience was the loud pop music, from 9am to 10pm everyday, wherever you are on the property. Yoga room? Pop music. In your private room? Pop music.
Bed bugs. Lots of bed bugs.
I liked the convenient location, however the staff was not welcoming. They seemed indifferent and didn’t seem to care for guests needs. They said they will give welcome drink after arrival at 6 pm but went late by 20 minutes and said it is not available anymore. After arguing with them they finally gave me one. The facilities are ok but the staff needs to be more welcoming.
Bad cleaning
It’s ok cleaning people no clean good and also they don’t clean the bathroom
Good location. Selina’s hostels have a great concept and good wifi. Which is tough to find in many hotels in Guatemala
The Selina is a fantastic space and a great place to stay in central Antigua. They provide so many excellent services, the food is great, and the staff are so friendly and really helpful.
Great service and staff!
Social backpackers’ paradise
The hostel plays loud music throughout the property until ~9 to 11PM. Now I see this is mentioned in reviews going back for years. If you are looking for an extroverted backpacker scene, this is absolutely the spot for you! People come to Selina to hang out and socialize. However we booked a private room because we need good sleep, but unfortunately there is no noise insulation from the loud music and other people around (woken up by someone throwing up in the nearby shared bathroom).
Lovely stay! Room was very clean, staff was wonderful!
The hotel is set back off the street so really quiet from street noise with a small waiting room up front. Super stylish, welcoming, friendly & eclectic design. The bed is comfortable but no window (a fan) and small for 2 people with luggage. The location is terrific 2 blocks from the arch. One small snafu - we booked airport shuttle for 3 - had misunderstanding with staff I meant afternoon & they booked 3am. We had to re pay and staff helped us get a seat on the shuttle we needed to make our flight so all is well that ends well but could be something to be mindful of when dealing with tourists who may not be used to using military time.
This was the BEST hostel I have ever stayed in. The bar area had amazing drinks and food, as well as staff! The environment was very chill, and had just enough quiet that you need to enjoy a vacation, but it was also very social and allowed you to branch out and meet new people. I love photo ops, and Selina had the best artsy areas for that. Overall, I would stay here over and over and over again. It was incredible.
last minute trip
Spontaneous trip-So glad we found a last minute private room! The room was very clean, bed was comfy. Bathroom a bit small but very clean! Love the desk and small sofa. The best part was the view of the volcano. We had a 3rd floor room! Location is perfect! I usually stay in boutique hotels with my husband and this room definitely felt like it. The coffee/bar area is great too! Good drinks and WiFi! The next door restaurant la Esquina was awesome!
Great Hostel
Great hostel in a great location. Easy to explore all of Antigua. Loads of facilities and places to just chill.
Beautiful amenities, only thing we didn’t like is that the shuttles were more expensive than in other agencies, and when we asked the staff about that the answer was that we will be picked up first. It was a lie, we were picked last.
Great
Very good
I really liked Selina Antigua, it was the best travel experience I’ve ever had. The staff is amazing, the receptionists are very helpful, and the managers are very attentive. They helped with my transportation, tours, and entertainment needs. There is always something to do there: bars, a cinema, restaurants, and a pool.
The location and most of the staff are nice. There is one girl that works at the front that is incredibly rude though.
awesome outdoor area
This hostel is huge! It's really funky with a bar, eateries, pool, awesome outdoor area and staff who are friendly and helpful.
The Location was really great near of everywhere and amenities
It's the best hostel for backpacker. Share a dormitory with many travelers. Very clean and excellent organizing like a small community. Highly recommend.
Best hostel in antigua!
I was amazed by this place. Everything is so well designed and well maintained and the atmosphere is great! The dorms are super comfi with personal light and socket (even USB sockets!) Don't hesitate.
Nice hostel with good amenities and in great location. Walking distance for many interesting attractions. Do not miss the next-door restaurant plaza called "La Esquina".
Overpriced or what you get (Deluxe room review)
I had the deluxe room booked - and for the price (around $80) it was a bit disappointing. The room faces the street, and has a tiny balcony - therefore it is very noisy with traffic all through the night, and the exhaust fumes make it rather unpleasant if you open the doors to the balcony. Daily housekeeping was done, but on three of my 4 days only one of the two bins was emptied, the bathroom wasn't cleaned properly - I understand it's a hostel, and would have been happy with the lax service if the price would have been lower. You can get a better and quieter room for that money in Antigua. On the positive side, the communal areas were really nice, and the service was good, always somebody on reception who spoke fluent english and was able to help out with transport and tours. Also the concept of the chain is clearly pointed towards young travellers, in my mid forties I felt a bit misplaced.
Good hostel with female dorms and hot water
I really wanted to give this hotel 5-stars but a few things fell short towards the end of my visit so I'm opting for 3 instead. For the positives: the hotel is well-located in Antigua, the prices are reasonable, the showers are hot and clean, the hotel looks really pretty and the beds are comfortable. In the dorm I stayed at, there was outlets around all of the beds, which is really convenient. I also liked that there was a female dorm, which is sometimes hard to find in hostels in Guatemala. Internet seems to be relatively fast. I was able to download a few Netflix episodes. However, there's a few things I didn't like. First, customers are allowed to smoke in the restaurant/bar area, which is really disgusting and unpleasant. Second, I booked a shuttle ticket at this hotel for Livingston in Guatemala. What they sold me was not a direct shuttle at all - it was a shuttle to a bus station in Guatemala City, where they gave me a ticket for a LiteGua bus to... Rio Dulce. Not Livingston. So it was really annoying because once in Rio Dulce, I had to pay an extra 150Q (about 30$) for the last leg to Livingston. It was also annoying because it was not a shuttle at all, it was just a shuttle to a bus station where I had to wait an hour to get on a bus. If I would have known, I would have simply gone to Guatemala City by myself and booked the bus myself.
Wonderful rooms situated right in Antigua only 3 blocks from the main square!
Bonito lugar aire libre buena vibra
El ambiente es muy agradable y se encuentra en una exelente ubicación
Una experiencia muy agradable
Lindo
This is technically a very nice place, very green and lots of places "to hang out". Yet the management of this hostel chain is way too focussed on making the last Dollar out of you, e.g. by overcharging the legal limit for additional nights (in Guatemala every room has a max ask price which hangs in the room). Also the room quality is best average and very noisy as not sound isolated to the outside (you cannot close the top windows which only consist of wooden bars with big spaces in between).
Selina is great to meet people
