Nice size room
Nice pleasant stay, nice size room, pillows a bit hard for me
Maintenance and housekeeping leave a lot to be desired. Bed and pillows very uncomfortable
Overall our visit to the Sandman signature hotel was a good one, the only issue we had was the breakfast did offer much in quantity but the quality wasn't quite there for us.
Poor coffee at breakfast
Clean and comfortable room although very dark decor which I found rather depressing. All staff we encountered were friendly and helpful. There is a need for coffee machines at breakfast, I would accept urns of coffee in a community centre Not a 4 star hotel !!
Excellent hotel and very clean
Room was dirty. Dried toothpaste in the bathroom glass. Dried vomit under the toilet rim. Not hoovered in the bedroom. No parking left and hard to find. Hotel could be nice but housekeeping needs replaced. I would have said, but I wasn't asked.
Lovely Hotel but near a very busy road so didnt get much sleep.
Shopping trip
Great hotel perfect location
Comfy beds and quiet rooms
Would recommend
We had a lovely stay overnight. Staff were friendly and the room was comfortable.
Excellent value for money. Lovely hotel. Big rooms, lots of facilities. Will be back.
First night away from new baby to allow mum some time to rest and reset! Staff made the night perfect and due to limits on spa treatments with mum having had a c section, they made up for it with service to the room. We have been before and will always be coming back
Brilliant hotel love staying there friendly staff lovely rooms
Wry nice property, gym could use an upgrade as well as longer hours for steam room.
Concert night
Great hotel for night out in town to see concert. Good food and choice for dinner and a bountiful choice for breakfast.
Hotel is modern, very clean and the staff are friendly. The bedroom was spacious with a really comfortable king bed. The bathroom had a great rain shower and nice toiletries, the only negative was the water temperature wasn’t particularly hot but comfortable enough to shower.
Better than my last visit
Much better stay than last time. Breakfast still look less than appetising and the car parking is expensive at £12 a day.
Perfectly serviceable base for work visit
Loved the addition of a fridge and microwave in your room, room was spacious, warm and had everything you needed. Could do with a deep clean on certain areas but was definitely a decent base for a few days work visit
We had a lovely stay, room was very large and clean.
Lovely hotel , room beautifully decorated. The only downside I would say is all double rooms can be noisy in the morning due to traffic noise . So if you don’t want this you need to book a suite as they are the only rooms not facing the road outside.
Great hotel
Mr
All ways a nice hotel and comfy bed but this time the hotel room was very dusty and needed a hover
As always hotel is excellent
Love the high ceiling of the room and central location
Excellent property. Conveniently located
Average.
Overall stay was ok. Nice bed, spacious room and a decent price. Lots of noise at night from wedding downstairs, humming and whirring from electrics and heating system. Noise from cars revving outside. Parking is £12 a night, not included in price of room; which we thought was excessive.
Happy guests
Good city centre location with parking
1 night stay
Just a quick one night stay as I was passing through Aberdeen. Hotel is in a good location about 10 minutes walk from the train station. Really nice decor inside the hotel, rooms were very comfortable and the bar area was great.
Only improvement might be a grab rail in the shower. Otherwise everything was fine
Room was tastefully decorated & well organised
Could walk to attractions and restaurants. Parking was convenient. Nice room. Comfortable bed.
I loved staying at this hotel, it's classy, elegant, central but quiet, the rooms are beautiful and spacious and the staff are great. I would like to thank Alicia in particular, excellent service.
Great hotel
Wonderful hotel would stay again. Friendly and easy check in, child friendly, dog friendly, beautiful room
Got booked into room next door to wedding reception so not a pleasant stay unfortunately
Hotel room was great size with everything you might need, parking available even though it was busy due to the wedding happening at the time of our stay. Beautiful bar and a restaurant, location of this hotel also was perfect, right in the middle of shops, bars and the restaurants
Beautiful spacious room, great service, adequate breakfast
Friendly staff
A lovely friendly receptionist allowed us an early check in which was a huge help. Shower was superb. Bed bug and comfy
Wonderful stay although a couple of things about the accessible room. The bathroom has a tiny sink which is very difficult to use without getting splashed. There is no area around the sink to place anything which must be tricky for wheelchair users. One of us has restricted mobility and the bathroom didn’t really work for either of us. It also seemed strange that a room designed for a wheelchair user was on the third floor, through a couple of doors but more importantly there were two sets of stairs (which had no handrails) to negotiate. How would a wheelchair user get to the room?
Comfortable Stay
One night stay Easy walking distance to the Theatre so great location Spacious room 2 large confirtable beds, tv and seating area
Modern trendy hotel, bedroom well equipped with hospitality tray, microwave, fridge, large bathroom with excellent shower and very comfy beds. Excellent location for HM Theatre only 5 minutes walking distance. We will use the hotel again and would recommend to others. Good value . Minor comments - Area around the hotel or view from bedroom window not pretty but once inside the public area of the hotel and in the room, we were happy.
Sandman is worth a visit for anyone in Aberdeen ! The staff are very attentive and very friendly, nothing is ever too much to ask for - reception team very welcoming upon arrival - promptly checking myself in , whilst advising me on dining and incase of any emergencies while in the premises talking me through fire escapes etc . My room was beautiful - spacious and clean throughout . Would definitely stay here again for sure !
Lovely hotel, modern, clean and fantastic rooms. Great value for money, and the staff have always been fantastic whenever I have stayed.
Great service, nice room with kitchenette. Restaurant was well priced and served great food
Great hotel
Lovely hotel. Rooms are very comfortable. Great food and lovely relaxing bar for a quite drink at the end of a long day. Staff all very professional and friendly
Very noisy outside.
Great Hotel Really stunning was quite shocked at how nice it was . The rooms were very spacious and clean and had everything you could possibly need even a microwave. Ideal base for exploring around Aberdeen
The Sandman is a beautiful hotel with well-appointed rooms, and a wonderful restaurant! The location was perfect for us, being walkable (15 minutes) from the train station and Union Street for shopping and other dining. The staff was very accomodating and friendly. I highly recommend staying here and will do so in the future!!
I requested hotel brochures to pass to friends and recommend the accommodation. None were available! Staff were first class.
Nice hotel, good location.
Lovely hotel with beautiful reception area. The main room was nice and modern. Small touches such as bottles of water or a mini bar would have been beneficial. The shower had some mould in the tray.
Worth the stay
We stayed on the second floor, the room was quite spacious considering they were 2 double beds. Even the corridors were quite wide. The food was just as good. Will definitely visit again.
The hotel was welcoming, parking was easy, lobby and room decor very nice . Coffee and tea in room as well as a fridge. Only negative was we were 3adults and the pull out couch was not comfortable. You could feel the springs and they had a terrible sleep.
We liked the restaurant and excellent food. We didn't like the windows raised 8 feet above the floor, lack of view from room (felt like being in a basement). Also, there are steps between floors which are hard to see (my wife fell down them). They also make it impossible to roll luggage or trolleys from elevator to the room :(
Hotel staff were great. Staff at Chop House seemed disinterested in us, a bit disappointed
We checked in early and the receptionist said she was going to put us in the quiet room on the 3rd floor. But it won't be ready until after 3 pm. When we did check in, the other receptionist could not find our paperwork. OMG it was the noisiest room. All night you heard traffic, people and noise from the hotel. Didn't get much sleep for 3 nights.
Short anniversary break
Beds were very high so difficult for a person for a disability to get on to. Room was facing a main road so was noisy day and night. It lacked staff especially in the restaurant. The staff that were working were extremely friendly.
Nice hotel with decent facilities - very big and quite impersonal though
Great location, central to many sites. Hotel was clean, and staff was professional. Suggest that they keep the toilet paper stocked daily as well as the tea, sugar etc. Felt breakfast was expensive.
All staff were pleasant, the rooms were clean and spacious and parking was convenient.
The hotel is beautiful and the staff are v professional and lovely. There was alot of shouting at night outside the window, probably my fault as i left it open. Otherwise lovely stay and grear food. Xx
We only spent a night in Aberdeen so I can't comment on the area that this hotel was in - it appeared to be located in the thick of it. The is limited parking onsite but a second parking lot was not too far from the hotel. The room was really nice and it was quiet.
Difficult parking
We had a noisy 1st floor room. Lobby a bit worn and restaurant tired.
Was charged for the room but was told the card had been declined despite showing “approved” on the card machine and the receipt which said “thank you for your payment”. Was asked to try again and the same thing happened again. This isn’t the staffs fault at all but to be honest the way the staff member who was asked to help the staff member that was originally dealing with us (who wasn’t sure what was happening and asked for assistance) made the situation extremely embarrassing for us by repeatedly saying the words declined and failed. That might not be embarrassing for some people but for someone who doesn’t like attention it felt like everyone was watching us. Turns out we were charged twice, luckily we used a credit card and the second payment was blocked by the bank. Obviously this wasn’t the best start and the worry of the thought of having to spend Monday on the phone to the bank didn’t really allow for what was meant to be a relaxing few days away for my partners birthday. Secondly the heat in the hotel is absolutely unbelievable, I have no idea where the heat is coming from being in Aberdeen but it was unbearable. Two fans were required just to be able to sleep. There were multiple other rooms who had the same problem clearly as chairs were being used to hold open the doors. No radiators were on, the window was open and two fans on and the room was still stifling hot. Note the temperature was 18/19C at most throughout the day. Very disappointing for the price.
Absolutely no parking, just dropping luggage was a problem, then you have to go to a mall to park, would recommend if you do not have a car, would not recommend if you have a car
We booked the bigger room with separate living area/kitchen and what a beautiful suite it was. Great nights sleep had by both of us all 3 nights we stayed. The staff were all friendly, chatty. Food menu was varied, we were served by a very friendly young man who talked us through a few things on menu. What we ordered came promptly and beautifully cooked and presented. We also booked in for treatments at the in-house spa and had an unforgettable pampering from the girls there. We will absolutely be booking in again when next in Aberdeen!
Work trip
Very good equipped hotel
Nice rooms and property. The room was hot and humid. No air conditioning. But fans were supplied. The halls and other common areas were air conditioned. Nice. We did not like the room hot and humid even with window open … noise and lights from the roundabout. The heat was off in the room but there was heat. After showering we had to be in front of the fans to cool off
Central location, spacious rooms, comfortable bed. Ask for a room at the back of the hotel if you are not keen on noise and take earplugs or noise cancelling headphones if you prefer a quiet environment. All the granite buildings, high ceilings, a wedding party in full swing added to a noisy first night and early morning call by the local seagulls at 5am!
Excellent hotel and restaurant
Very modern vibe hotel with great room and surrounding areas. The staff were great and held our luggage while we explored Aberdeen. The bar is really cool and the food was fantastic. Their breakfast in the morning was also great.
A very nice stay.
Had a lovely stay in the Sandman Signature Hotel. Only thing that was a let down was the lighting in the room. Half the lights were not working and it was very hot in the room even with the windows open
Lovely mid week stay.
Downright grotty room. Go elsewhere.
The “Corporate Suite” was filthy. Minimal lighting couldn’t hide the greasy, dirty backsplash and cupboard handles, dirty hand marks on the walls, grunge on the window sill and curtain bottoms, crumbs etc on the carpet, stains on the couch, dust/grime on the bedside glass lights. There was no stopper in the kitchenette sink, no dish towel, and it took 2 requests to get both. The suite was ridiculously huge, with one small window at the bedroom end. We had to have both fans that were provided running, and jack the door open with the very small rubbish bin, in order to get any air through. No evidence of any recycling. Litter in the entrance. All in all, one of the worst rooms/suites we’ve ever stayed in. The front desk staff were pleasant and helpful, and the shower was good, though there was a sour, BO smell in the bathroom.
3 day family holiday
A very nice and comfortable stay. Staff were absolutely charming and very helpful directing us out on a day trip around town and we felt welcome and looked after.
The reception area is the real sales point and was very funky. Get beyind that and it was disappointing in terms of value for money. Room was large but a bit tired with no aircon, just a large fan. Breakfast was packed into a very narrow space, the coffee was undrinkable and the foid disappointing for a four star hotel. The gents loo on the ground floor had broken toilet roll holders and the hand dryers didn't work.
Car parking facilities and lack of information, very poor breakfast service, the room was just okay, I would not rush back.
The food was absolutely delicious, along with the service in restaurant. I was disappointed however with the parking facility and the method used. Charged £12 for parking on arrival (no other options near by.) Was not told when paying for parking that if I left I would no longer have a space due to only having around 30 spaces for a relatively large hotel. Even though you give registration number of car and no how long I’m staying for. I arrived at 5pm 2 hours after check-in had paid for 2 rooms but we were informed our room wasn’t ready on our arrival. The restaurant and waiting staff made my stay. Would recommend as long as you don’t have a car to park.
While the hotel looks good, it feels like the behind the scenes organisation and management was a shitshow. Between getting moved in the middle of a meal, given conflicting directions, ignored by wait staff and an overfull breakfast buffet from ignoring the sign up and scheduling, what should have been a pleasant trip left me incredibly irritated and glad to leave.
Very good stay. Thank you
Staff are nice but cleanliness is poor
Beautiful hotel and rooms
We didn’t get much sleep as something must have been on ??
A modern, quite stylish conversion of a former training facility. Centrally located but on the edge of a down at heel area, with empty buildings and development sites. We stayed two nights. The room was very comfortable, well equipped and quiet, despite being on the street on two sides. The bed was very comfortable. The shower room was well designed. We did not visit the spa. It seems to cater to the US coach tour market. Breakfast was poor. Choices were limited. The bread and rolls were of very low quality and the coffee, presented in pump vacuum flasks, was awful. There were no alternative places to breakfast in the immediate area, so going out for breakfast instead, was not an option in the time available to us. It has potential but could be a lot better.
Stylish but not so great on basics
The communal areas of the hotel look fantastic and the staff were friendly and helpful. The bar is stylish and has a good range of cocktails and drinks. We were happy with the the look, facilities and cleanliness of our 2nd floor room on arrival. When we arrrived back from dinner we immediately noticed the heat and lack of air conditioning when we stepped out of the lift into the lobby, but hoped the room would be cooler. Unfortunately, it wasn't. There was a fan provided, however, it did nothing to help bring the temperature down. We had the window open from arrival but still had to sleep completely naked on top of the duvet to stay as cool as possible. It should be noted that it wasn't particularly hot outside and was raining heavily that evening. Interestingly, the next day we overheard someone else complaining to reception about the same thing. We were staying 2 nights and asked for the room to be serviced during the day. When we got back we noticed that the bed had been very roughly made (ie pillows and cushions rearranged) and still looked quite scrappy. Our dirty coffee mugs and glasses were left lying around the room untouched, and the dirty teaspoons and drips from making coffee were still on the tea tray. The coffee sachets and sugar had not been replenished even though they hand been finished. It's a shame about the servicing of the room and the poor temperature control as the hotel is in a great location and is well designed. Could have been great.
No parking left on site. Had to drive to overflow and pay!!! Not ideal
Behind the imposing grey brick of this downtown building is a very nice modern hotel. The lobby is expansive and luxurious with friendly staff. Our room truly felt boutique with exposed beams, high ceilings, dark walls and drapery, and dreamy bedding. The bathroom was fantastic with a great walk-in shower. There is an understandable parking charge given the central location. The lot itself is large, but beware of the alarmingly narrow approach with a hard curve to enter the lot, fold in your mirrors when entering!
This hotel is a re purposing of an older granite building, and is very well done. The foyer is fantastic, the restaurant/bar good, and the rooms were comfy and quite spacious. The hotel is in a part of aberdeen which contains most of the highlights of Aberdeen, close to some nice cafes and pubs, and some architectural delights, as well as the art gallery and the main central park in Aberdeen. It is also a great base for travelling to speyside, deeside, Inverness and a plethora of delightful castles. Also lose to Old Aberdeen with its mediaeval university and cobbled streets.
The service was great and the cleanliness of the hotel was amazing was great to stay will definitely come back
Lovely hotel, stuffy room
We had a very, tiny window, was so small there was no air in the room or natural light. no air conditioning either just a very small fan - we both have headaches from how unbearably stuffy the room was. Such ashame as the room was lovely and bed very comfortable, unfortunately couldn’t sleep with the heat and stuffiness in the room.
Lovely hotel but rooms are far too warm
Great restaurant, clean room. Could have mentioned where the parking was and code.
The room was nice but there were some stains on the throw pillows and the floor had some crumbs or dirt. We also had the noise of someone dumping bottles into a dumpster outside one of our windows while we were in bed. Lastly, the room service had very limited hours. It is a nice enough location as long as you don’t go out the front door and turn left. It gets a little rough (and unsafe?) if you walk that way.
Great property. Lots of traffic noise in my room. Parking is disastrous. Staff could get 10 stars if possible
Dirty shower and bathroom and kitchen . Reported it , staff said they would send housekeeper up when we were out but did not do this . Will not stay again
Room not clean . Reported it and didn’t even come to clean the shower or kitchen area
Warning to summer travelers- they DO NOT have air conditioning, and only one window in the wall of windows opens slightly, so when we returned in the afternoon, it must have been 90 degrees in the room! They say they don’t need a/c 11 months of the year, but they should have it anyway for air circulation in such a big hotel. And that’s another negative-long hallways. The location is good and nicely updated with good furniture. Breakfast was below average.
The staff at breakfast were overseen to tidy breakfast dishes away I had a yogurt and orange juice I went to get my cooked breakfast and when I git back my orange juice which still had some in it had been tidy away
Just an amazing hotel in a convenient central location. Love this hotel
January stay
Amazing Hotel, would highly recommend. The Chop Bar and Grill also had excellent food and service.
