Noisy from busy road
Very noisy! Road noise! I wouldn’t stay again !
Great suite, but the check-in desk was unstaffed when I arrived, so I spent a very irritating 20 minutes out on the street, unable to get through the locked door leading into the hotel. The phone number to call for assistance was not working on my 1 phone. They need to fix this; check-in should not be so difficult. How about a simple door code?
The property was clean and comfortable. We were close to the center of the city (on the main street) and within walking distance of train and bus station. Lots of dining options nearby.
We enjoyed our stay.
This apartment was more than we needed for our 1 night stay but very appreciated. It was clean and had all the amenities. The vegan bakery down the street was amazing. Centrally located, we walked to the beach, to parks and restaurants.
Nice appartment, everything i could need
Excellent, helpful staff, clean, good location.
Uninviting outside belies the nice, quiet rooms.
Slightly weird entrance that did not inspire confidence but the inside was really nice, especially my room. Receptionist was very welcoming and helpful.
The hotel is located in heart of the city. The property also very near and clean
Lovely little area of Aberdeen, easy access to local shops and restaurants. Taxi service was very convenient. On our last night we had people banging on our door at 3 AM but other than that it was fabulous. We would stay again
Was ok. Good location. Would be nice if it had coffee and water on arrival day. I was so so tired but had to go looking for where to buy these.
ok
This place is perfect and I make sure to stay here every time I visit my daughter in Aberdeen. I have been several times and will keep coming back again. See you again soon. Thank you.
We have stayed in this location on several occasions. The serviced suites are to be recommended & we usually try to stay in the same one. The location is excellent - central & close to some of the historic architecture in the city. On previous reviews I have mentioned the state of the windows - those overlooking Union Street are absolutely filthy outside. Clean them please!!!!!
Enjoyed our stay, was nice to get away for a break. Did find someone’s perfume and clothes label in the room. The sponge we received for cleaning our dishes had already been used by someone. Considering the price for a night which I’d say is a little high you’d think every apartment would have new sponges for new residents. Considering all of this I would return to the apartments as this isn’t my first time staying with yourselves and I do love the apartments. Staff are a bonus as they were all very polite and kind.
Very accommodating when we had been refused our booking at the Siberia Hotel basically for being English. Turned out to be a good thing. Immaculate, well equipped room and friendly helpful staff
Stayed several times thoroughly enjoyed and fab location
Always have a pleasant stay
Gorgeous room, horrible everything else
I love the suite but checking in was a NIGHTMARE. It’s extremely confusing because the door is locked but there are no instructions- just for “delivery drivers” to call a number. I called the number on the website, a very rude person told me she’d let the receptionist know to open the door but I waited 15 minutes— outside. In the rain. With my luggage. I’d been traveling all day and just wanted to get to my room. I was almost crying then banged on the door and someone opened it finally and she chastised me for not already knowing to call the number on the paper saying delivery drivers should call that number. She then made me wait another half an hour for my room. It was absolutely ridiculous
Really quite a good property - once I was able to gain entry. Corner apartment was very large and nicely appointed. This is the best accommodation I’ve had - and infinitely better than the hotel in Edinburgh with an elevator that didn’t work and uncaring staff. The only minor complaint was that the washer was unstable during the spin cycle - and the street side windows were very dirty. Otherwise excellent!
Aberdeen weekend away
The location is excellent. The rooms are spacious and to a good standard although some maintenance is needed.
Reception had a huge carry on when I came back to the room with three girls, avoid!!!
Good room, but loud
Centrally located but the church bell ringing every 15 min between 7 am and 11 pm and people on the street yelling and shouting after on and off until 3 am every day, was frustrating. Nice apartment but asked for a bath and quiet location, which didn't happen. Reception isn't always there and there's a number to call for assistance which assumes you have a phone. Maybe indicate the desk phone can be used? Also suggest providing laundry and dishwasher detergent since these appliances are there. Good there was dish soap.
Some undesirable people hanging around Great hotel and a great view from our room
Would recommend to anyone, great location.
Stayed one night, room was a good size but the kitchen had cupboards that were broken, things hanging off of the wall, there were broken bits and the floor was in need of fixing. It was noisy and there was no soundproofing. Anyone walking passed the room sounded like to door was open, bed was also in need of replacing. Generally in need of an upgrade. Although staff there when you check in. No one there after hours, just a number to call.
Check in was a bit of a nightmare. I’d emailed twice via ebookers regards early check in and had no response so ended up calling them. Upon arrival we were left standing outside I. The rain as no one was answering the intercom door and also the telephone number that was listed on the front door. Ended up calling the phone I had phoned regards early check in. Finally got in after half an hour. Went to wait in brew dog and £21 for a wine, pint of ale and two packets of crisps! Apartment itself is beautiful. Very clean, warm and modern. Outside house in the bedrooms is minimal. Had a random knocking at our door at 3am…. Obviously she had the wrong floor. All in all I’d stay again but I think check in needs to be addressed.
Would Return
Great location, v nice flat. Minor details to improve it. Comfier sofa, no kettle - no great issue as only there for 1 night. Would recommend.
The property was excellent, clean and in the perfect area. The reception staff were helpful and friendly. I dont have a bad word to say about my stay at the royal athenaeum suites
Aberdeen must stay
Fantastic Apartment on Union street. Very close to shopping, restaurants and transport. Great hotel type apartments with great staff.
Very comfortable and spacious
I never received any house cleaning. Staff were cold and unwelcoming.
Room was very large with bedroom, livingroom and kitchen. Had a built-in laundry machine. Nice location in downtown so easy to walk to many shops and restaurants.
Noisy location
Very noisy location with a town hall bell opposite that rings four times every hour till 11pm, that and a pub on the ground floor and night time revellers in the street till about 3am make it not ideal for a good nights sleep.
Excellent value
Except for a couple of minor details, everything was in good condition and very clean. We could have done with some advice about parking, and a second guest chair in reception, as we had to wait a while for the receptionist to appear. We were a little surprised that admittance on arriving required the use of a mobile phone and anyone without it could be left on the street for a while. On the whole, though, it was a very enjoyable stay and excellent value, and we'd happily return.
Excellent value for money with a location to match
If you are looking for a central, comfortable, affordable basic accommodation these bedsits are ideal.
Great location. Clean property. Good heating and wifi. Very helpful staff. Reasonable prices.
Amazing accomodation, perfectly placed, thouroughly enjoyable stay!
Stayed overnight in a one bedroom apartment. Room was very well equipped and a lot larger than expected. Very pleased with the property and the value for money.
1 night getaway
It fitted our needs for a 1 night trip
Ideal Apartment
Centrally located right on Union Street, ideal small apartment for couple.
I've stayed here a few times, always clean and tidy a very good location too
Very Good Location
Excellent central location but we found it quiet, although our room was to the back maybe the front rooms were noisier. Lovely spacious apartment, spotlessly clean and exceptionally well equipped with 2 TVs, microwave, dishwasher and washing machine. Large shower. Check in could have been better we had to wait outside for a good 5 minutes for someone to let us in.
Friendly receptionists.
Handy for getting to see things. Would be better if there was more information in the property. Apartment could do with more hooks for coats
The location is perfect! The apartment was very welcome, clean and beautiful
Nice Apartment in City Centre
Apafrtment was really nice. Staff were very nice friendly and helpful. We were in room 702 and found it a bit cold. Staff turned up heating from reception but ended up getting a heater. Would reccomend and will definately stay again. Some hooks for towels in the bathroom would be an added bonus. We did not find it noisy at all.
“The Suite Of Sleep Deprivation”
The room smelt mouldy. The clock outside in the square chimed all day and night. The noise from the Casino was horrid.Noisy guests coming in the suites at 5-30am.Result.No sleep to be had.Would not stay again.
Love this place! Home from home!
Fantastic place to stay, amazing friendly staff that are so helpful! 3rd time here and would go back again!
The staff was extremely helpful. I loved that there was a washing machine.
First class accommodation.
Great location in the centre of Aberdeen. Comfortable rooms will definitely stay here again.
Great little suites at good prices. This isn't a hotel, so no restaurant etc, but i knew that when i booked. It is located in the centre of Aberdeen so plenty of nearby options for dinner and breakfast. Staff are utterly charming.
Was clean very modern and in good condition. Staff were excellent
Thanks
Nice place
I REALLY Wanted to like this place
I really wanted to be able to give this place a great review, but just couldn't. The good: great location (half block to most bus stops, 10 minutes walk from train station, near the harbor), connected to Brewdog Brewery, an Aberdeen local. Nice rooms that were clean. Little kitchenette, decent bathroom. Bed was extremely comfortable. The bad: seems like they put lipstick on a pig. Old building, and the floors didn't get resettled before they put cheap laminate down, so they creak and make noise with every step. Room door slam shut and the walls inside as well as out, are paper thin, so I could hear a baby down the hall everytime it cried. Others have complained about the noise from outside and it is true. I was on the back side of the building, so was spared the bus noise. But anyone partying outside felt like they were in my living space. Not a restful stay.
Comfortable room with amenities of high standard. Bed very comfortable. Bathroom facilities very good ..underfloor heating very effective.
Our room was in the second floor looking over a casino and a bar that kept noisy all night long. Street clock was also little noisy on the hours.
Great location, twenty four hour reception person, large bright apartment.
Disappointed
We actually extended our stay by 2 days before our hotels com. stay by phoning the apartments direct. When we went into our room we were very disappointed that we had no view as we were on the top floor and there was a brick wall in front of both sitting room and bedroom windows, it felt like a prison so went to reception and the very nice helpful receptionist put us into another room with a better view., It was only when we went into the bedroom to try to sleep that we realised the bedroom window wasn’t soundproof it was a nightmare trying to sleep. After a broken night sleep we went to reception again and the same very nice receptionist moved us again to a smaller apartment with a less view but quite in the bedroom so we opted to move. We found the air condition and heating system very hard to work out and we seemed never to get it right but mostly we felt cold in the morning and late afternoon. Overall the apartments were nice and comfortable but I would have rather have been in a nice hotel for less price with breakfast thrown in which we could have easily have got .
Weekend Stay
Great studio apartment one of the best we have stayed in.
Disapointed
I had booked a 1 bedroom apartment with huge windows overlooking the main shopping street with good size table and chairs and a large space living area and Kitchen. What I got was a small poky bedroom with no windows which front door opened into. The kitchen area was in the small hall between bath room and tiny sitting area where I could nearly touch both walls there was a high table and 1 tall swivel chair that I could not get up on and I did not think I was that small all in all very disappointed. I checked my booking and I had booked a large 1 bedroom flat not a small studio
Excellent accommodation.Good location
Ideally placed on union street super clean and nice staff highly recommended
Very good
Lovely stay, will definitely be back again
Good facilities but could be better
Good apt. With great facilities. Overall clean but with her dirty mat in main room. On opening some of the cupboards I found them to be quite dirty. On one of the outside dolls there were weeds growing as will as cigarette butts. We were told there was a car park belonging to the spots but we passed this several times. We were in contact with the Reception by phone four times and only when my husband walked to the Reception we were told that the car park which was reserved for guests had another name on it which belonged to the same Apt group.
A full suite for less than the price of a small room in most cities. Very nicely appointed with a fantastic bathroom (soaker tub, rain shower), very cozy living room and comfortable bed.
OK accommodations, terrible service
I was very disappointed with this hootel - the room was not spectacular but more than adequate for the price. However - the staff goes out of their way to be unhelpful and borderline rude. Dealing with them was not a pleasant experience. The worst drawback is the total lack of useful internet access. The WIFI was useless and hyper slow, unacceptable for any type of establishment in 2019. I could not do any of the work I was supposed to do, and even checking in for my flight was impossible. When I asked about why it was so slow, the response was that “the manager said next month it will be faster”, which clearly was no help to me during my visit. We asked for a taxi to be ordered for a specific time on one day, and when we came down we were told that no taxis were available because it was raining - take the bus. I was expecting more of this place based on the reviews.
EXCELLENT LOCATION
Fabulous location. Well equipped apartments.
When I checked in and went to my room I discovered that I had been put in a studio instead of the one bedroom apartment that I paid for. I enquired at reception and was told that the manager had changed it as they only had one other one bedroom available. I was them asked if that was ok which I of course replied no to. I wanted the room I'd paid for. I was then allocated a one bedroom on the top floor. The room itself was nice although showing signs of wear and tear. The biggest issue was noise from the street and local bell tower. The near constant ringing of the bell was so noisy that I had to wear earplugs to get any sleep.
Great space and opportunity to relax in the centre of town in a small apartment furnished to a good standard. Excellent value.
Excellent city centre location on Union street. The check in was simple, quick and efficient with friendly helpful staff. The apartment was clean, bright and furnished in a modern style. All in all excellent accommodation and an excellent find for business travel purposes.
Great. Staff really helpful and friendly. Rooms were perfect
My go-to place to stay in Aberdeen
I've been staying at this place for a few years now whenever I'm in Aberdeen. Suitable for business or leisure trips, you can get a studio apartment, a 1 bedroom apartment, or even a 2 bedroom apartment at a really good price. They are always clean and make a great base if you're there a few days. They all have a kitchen area so you can even bring food in or cook your own, and have a nice separate living area. It is just an apartment block so there's no bar or restaurant on site but you're just a couple of minute's walk from the city centre and a ton of places to eat or drink and to get breakfast. Union Square shopping centre and food court is less than 5 minutes walk away, I always leave my car on the car park there overnight, costs about £8. Highly recommended.
Fantastic place to stay, right in the centre. As a result it can be a bit noisy at night, which would be fine if you don’t have an early rise for work.
The property is central and for the price of a reasonable hotel you have the comfort of havig a separate living room.
Excellent apartment close to shops and amenities. Lovely roomy apartment.
They were excellent at customer service and their response time.
Fantastic value, great location, affordable luxury
An amazing surprise when I entered my suite of rooms. The quality of furnishings was second to none, clean tidy and perfectly serviceable. I had to pinch my self when I thought about how cost effective these apartments are. Close to bars, restaurants and clubs and on the beginnings of the major thoroughfare that is Union Street and almost directly opposite a Weatherspoons, these apartments are ideally located in the heart of Aberdeen. Try these apartments, rather than slashing out on a hotel, you’ll not be disappointed!
A convenient overnight stay for a visit to the Lemon Tree. Very comfortable bed. Handy having a kitchenette in the room. Our room had a wet room with rain shower, settee and wall Tv. All clean and well kept. Reception staff friendly and helpful. Only downside was the Saturday night revellers going home about 5am and the clock outside started chiming too! Take your earplugs!
Highly recommended for central Aberdeen
A one night stopover in Aberdeen, the Royal Athenaeum Suites are highly recommended for location, comfort and price.
Nice apartment but noisy
Really nice apartments . Comfortable bed well laid out . No mirror in bedroom for doing hair and make up only one above sink in toilet . Very noisy area with church bell ringing from very early morning and could hear people in early hours outside speaking. Overall nice apartments just a shame about noise . Reception staff friendly
Very comfortable and close to station
Nicely appointed apartment with kitchen. Bed was very comfortable with great pillows. Reception staff very helpful checking everything was ok with the room. Would stay again.
Smart location in heart of city.friendly and helpful staff large bright modering rooms although bedroom slightly hot. Would throughly recommend.
Very clean and tidy - few little niggles (tap in kitchen difficult to use, soap dispenser in bath doesn’t dispense properly that sort of thing), but for the money this place is a bargain. Note that there are lots of druggies hanging about on Union Street and despite double glazing it is quite noisy so although the location is excellent for the shops, it’s not so great for families. Roadworks currently out front and major road so difficult to set down luggage.
Exceptional
Everything was spot on
A perfect place in the heart of Aberdeen
We had a great time in our lovely flat at Royal Athenium Suites. I was just the right size for the two of us and included an entrance hall, a spacious bedroom, a bathroom with a superb shower and a beautiful lounge/kitchen (fully equipped). There is underfloor heating and when we had difficulty adjusting the temperature, the staff were most helpful. After that we had no problems, it was very cosy. The flat was tastefully furnished and decorated, with some really pleasant corners for reading or listening to music. The staff at reception were lovely. We arrived very early in the morning, but could go to our flat straight away. There is always someone available if you need assistance. The location in the centre of Aberdeen is brilliant. It's just five minutes from the train station, almost next door to the Tourist Information, which is really handy. They are very knowledgeable and give lots of good tips. There are plenty of shops, cafés, bars and restaurants nearby. It is quiet at night, so guests will get a good night's sleep. We will definitely return. A tip for a lovely excursion is to take the bus x7 to see Dunnottar castle and then take the coastal walk into Stonehaven. It's an easy bus journey of about 40 minutes and definitely worth it. The setting of the castle against the backdrop of the sea is dramatic. Stonehaven is a lovely little town. Try the Villa Café, they do really nice cakes, soups and sandwiches.
Amazing!
Service at reception was lovely, the room was amazing! So clean and very quiet!
Excellent service, clean and great location!
Very good as it was what i had expected. Very central and not too far away from shops and pubs.
Excellent location
Bring earplugs as rooms can be noisy, great rooms, great location
Why Stay anywhere Else
Amazing Apartment suites smack bang in the heart of old Aberdeen city. Based in the historic old Athenaeum Hotel building that has been tastefully refurbished these suites are ideally located, being opposite the Aberdeen Town House and Tolbooth Museum and within minutes walk to the railway and bus stations but also the Union Street restaurants and bars. Inside the suites are beautifully appointed with (remarkably) a washing machine, dishwasher, oven, microwave and enough implements in the kitchen to be able to cook a full dinner!!! The bedroom had a King Size bed with Egyptian Cotton sheets and the bathroom was beautifully modern. I personally would stay no where else in Aberdeen as it combines the luxury of a hotel with the ability to live like you were at home
A good spot
A great central location, only 5 mins walk from the train station. Facilities are good in the apartments and the team on the desk were very friendly and accommodating. Would certainly return here when I visit Aberdeen in the future
Spacious apartment!
Very spacious apartment, clean and comfortable. Very pleased with my stay. Will book again!
Iron Maiden weekend
Apartments excellent within centre Aberdeen and below a BrewDog n Wetherspoons across the road for breakfast
It’s nice to have the space of an apartment when staying for a few days. Property located on a major street which made easy access to shops, bus system and train station. Reception staff luke warm with greetings. Biggest problem is the clock in a local building which chimes day and night and can be heard in apartment.
Easy stay
Great place and close to everything
excellent hotel, the room i was given was a large 1 br and was excellent. thank you
