The good news is the location of the hotel, proximity to the airport and the beach. That's all. The windows in the room do not open and there is no balcony, the A/C is constantly running and makes noise. I wanted to ask to turn it off, but for this you need to call a repairman and then to turn it on again - I decided not to bother with this. The room is constantly very humid, because of this, even on the decorative pillows is black mold. At the end of the rest it was simply impossible to enter the room, the smell of mold and humidity were off the scale. Well, the most unpleasant thing is paying $40 per day destination fee. When checking in, I asked if this amount is refundable if I do not use the bar and restaurant in the hotel - I was assured that the amount is refundable. After checking out, I asked again if the funds will be returned. They said yes. A few days later, I see that $261 was charged off from account for 6 days. I started chatting with the manager - and she answered that I could buy drinks or food at the bar for these $40, since I did not do this, they will simply charge this amount. If this had been explained to me in advance, there would have been no questions. After checking in, I saw that $560 was "pending" on my credit card. I thought that since there were two of us, this amount was a deposit for each person. It turned out that $300 was a deposit that no one said anything about.
Great place to stay!
Close to the beach, nearby restaurants. The daily fee needs to be explained better bc we didnt take advantage of it because we didnt understand it so explaining it to guests would probably go a long way.
Property very nice. The breakfast could have been better
Good services
Very clean a d amazing staff. Monica, Gabriel and Sebas were very polite and helpful. Nice quiet area
This property was right by the airport but a little further from the action. The staff at this place is amazing! I didn’t give five stars because the AC went out in dead heat of summer and took a few hours to work again but other than that it was perfect!
My first time staying here and I will definitely be back ! The guys at the bar were amazing
Clean rooms only complaint was the exhaust fan in the bathroom was not working. The shower area gets foggy after a hot shower. Did complain but did not get repaired by the time we lwft
This hotel was easy and accessible from the airport. It was very nice and the complimentary breakfast is a plus!
Was expecting a lot more….:very decieiving
It was a bite Of a caos when we arrivés, and as we Walker into the room it was so humide and with the smell that comes with it
The staff here were amazing! The location was great. The atmosphere was was a 10/10. The only issue came with the smell of the hotel and the hotel room.
I stayed in this property on July 2024, and I liked it a lot, thats why I stayed here again.... But I got very dissapointed, because the room was different, and it had a very strong smell of smoke, from obviously someone had smoked... Also the first days, water was nice and hot, but last three days, was just warm... AC was terrible...very humid room....it seemed they controlled temperature, because it got very hot in the middle of the night.... When I got home I had to wash EVERYTHING, because the smell of the room (smoke, humidity) was into the clothes... So, I don't think I will stay here again....
The hotel is nice The only problem is the mold because of the high humidity , but i guess there is mold everywhere in san juan
The hospitality was superb
Hotel, room, dining area, bar, pool and customer service were all awesome.
I disliked wet carpet smell. Disliked 40dollar resort fee and dont know why this was charged Disliked spanish speakimg only and english was vaguely understood by staff Food too expensive particuarly apitezers small portions Love the pool, surrounding clean room with full kitchen a plus staff very friendly closeness to airport
Everyone was amazing!!
STAY AWAY!!!’ This hotel is a TOTAL RIP OFF!!! To start the front desk person Gerardo Sanchez was Rude, Sarcastic, Condescending and Unprofessional! He refused to give his name as his name tag was hidden. I investigated with staff the next day to find out who the front desk person on duty when we checked in. Mr. Sanchez NEVER greeted us, NEVER made eye contact and gave a FAKE NAME! If this is the type of employees Residence Inn employs their standards are Extremely Low. Now, we were charged $40 per day for Manual Destination Fee, NO IDEA what this fee was, as we paid our hotel cost in full prior to arriving. We were NEVER told about this fee. Due to flight delays we arrived a day late and was charged $40 and we weren’t even in the hotel. AWFUL HOTEL EXPERIENCE!!!!!! ABSOLUTELY WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL
Our original room had a very strong mold/mildew smell so we asked to move to another room. They were able to move us right away but there was still a smell though it was better; its probably in the HVAC vents. The hotel was pleasantly nice, walkable to other restaurants and grocery. Just note that there are more fees after you book (~$40 per night) plus taxes (more than I expected) so be prepared. My kids really enjoyed the pool and the kid friendly slide-pool area- this was the highlight of our hotel stay. Its only 7 minutes from the airport so you can hear the planes taking off.
Will return! The staff is wonderful, food is great!
Night one when we were checked in the guy at the front gave terrible customer service, even after my wife tried to cheer him up he barely smiled or showed any enthusiasm for his job. I understand having a bad day but I've worked in customer service and you at least try to fake it. We also had a bartender one night who was very rude to my wife and not helpful. The other staff did their jobs well enough in the front of the house. The food took forever most of the time and the wraps were soaked in oil which was pretty gross. As for the place itself, who thought it was a good idea to put carpet in the hallways and rooms? The whole floor smelled of mildew and hopefully not for the health of the guests mold! All of our clothes that were left in the room and not worn during the stay reeked of mildew, including my wife's expensive dresses (which had to be dry cleaned once we got home). Put tile like the lobby, or anything other than old carpet. The island is naturally humid and people walk up from the pool area wet or out of the rain, its just common sense. The bed was hard so sleeping was uncomfortable. The phone in the room didn't work. The shower design doesn't make sense because unless you point the showerhead straight down or at the wall it makes the bathroom floor all wet. The parking is expensive and you need a car if you want to get around the island. All in all a disappointment after spending $300 a night on our honeymoon.
Close to the beach with a lot of dining options.
Our stay at the hotel was quite disappointing. Despite going out of my way to coordinate housekeeping with the front desk—especially since I had a pet with me—we didn’t receive housekeeping even once during our 6-day stay. We had to repeatedly request fresh towels and were only provided them on two occasions. While the service at the bar was exceptional and Marisol at the front desk was fantastic, the rest of the experience fell short of expectations. For example, we ordered a bottle of Prosecco at the bar, only to find out that the same bottle costs $55 at the hotel’s market, but we were charged $90 at the bar due to a supposed “corking fee.” A $40 markup for serving the bottle felt unreasonable. Additionally, our room had a strong mildew/musty smell, and we heard similar complaints from other guests about their rooms. Despite these issues, we still enjoyed Puerto Rico’s natural beauty and had a great time exploring the island. However, the overall experience at this hotel left much to be desired.
We enjoyed our stay at your establishment. The only down fall was that the air was consistently on in the rooms, and it was very humid. We asked to turn it off or down, but no one came to access it. The bed seemed like it was wet. One guest said her room and hallway in the 200 wing smelled like mildew. Breakfast was nice, that is one of the reason we chose this place. Food options seemed to be the same every day, but it was good. Thank you again, we will return.
Where to start, the staff at the front desk were amazing! Any time we needed anything they accommodated us. The food at the hotel restaurant was not very good. They never restocked their beverages so we had to go to the store and buy our beverages. The rooms were damp from the humidity and we couldn’t cool them. I would probably not stay at this location again.
Stayed 4 days here . If I could’ve gotten my money back the stay would’ve been no longer than 15 minutes. Upon arrival The hotel lobby area was beautiful the decor was very modern and the customer service was just ok. I was given a room on the 8th Floor a king bed for my husband and I with an ocean view as I paid and requested . Upon getting off the elevator you immediately smell a horrible smell of wet or moldy area as if a rug were washed . As we entered the room the smell was even worse. There was mold on the walls . I immediately called down to the front desk and a maintenance person was sent up and separated some air freshener we left to enjoy our evening came back to the same horrible smell. I called downstairs and was told we have no other rooms so I decided to physically go to the front and shared the video and images with the manager I was placed in a new room 7th floor same exact smell I was told it was a upgraded suite however it was a regular two queen bed which meant my husband and I had to either share this small bed or sleep separate. I complained again and was told someone would come up to check on the smell no one ever came at this point I contacted Expedia and asked for a refund they said I had to go through the hotel they said they can’t give me a refund but offered a $40 credit to be used on the premise. I would never stay here again the smell will clause headaches and make your stay unbearable. I can’t believe this is even a Marriott representation.
Great place to bring your family!! We enjoyed the hotel very much. Great free breakfast. Very nice staff. Loved the pina coladas!
Moldy smelling rooms. Long time to get refund
The staff and the breakfast are great. The outlook appearance of the property looks sharp and location seems to be really great, until you stay a night. We have 3 major complaints after staying 4 nights. 1. Pungent fungus odor. We changed our room twice but all 3 rooms had fungus odor that causes headaches. After awhile your body does seems to get used to it and and you don’t smell it anymore… Until you walk out and return to the room. I would stay away from this hotel until they fix the issue. Who knows how much harm fungus that we inhaled would do to our bodies? (One thing we noticed is that the odor is less recognizable when AC is running high. But, it’s still there.) 2. The hotel charges $40 a night and calls it a destination charge. In return, they give you a $40/day food credit to buy food only at their bar. Basically, they are forcing you to eat at their premise. And their food is expensive compared other restaurants in the walking distance. 3. You can’t get to the beach on foot…legally that is. The only way you can get to the beach on foot is to walk-through other properties. And, they all have posted signs that says “guests only” or “no public access to the beach.” They even have staff at times who would asks if you are guests of their property. You literally have to snuck past by to get to the beach and return. STAY AWAY FROM THIS HOTEL!!!
It was a pleasant experience. We really enjoyed our stay
Good
Excelente servicio de desayuno. Todas las áreas limpias.
Beautiful hotel
The Good: -The hotel is new, which is nice. -The pool area is wonderful and if they're not too busy, you can order drinks without leaving the pool - The location is in close proximity to the airport. 5-10 minutes ride by uber. 15-20 minutes to old San Juan - The $40 dollars daily destination fee that you are forced to pay can be credited toward drinks and food, so make sure you use it - Rooms have kitchens and there is free laundry - The staff is really nice and attentive The bad: -Our room was smelling moldy. We assumed it was due to high humidity so we didn't make a big deal out of it. All of your stuff and bedding will be in a constant state of moist. -The sink drained at the speed of 1 gal per day -The breakfast is pretty bad, meaning that you get powder eggs, frozen omelets, moist fries, etc. On top of that, the breakfast operation is not managed well, as you can often find the serving trays to be empty when it's busy and I've seen a lady wait for 10 minutes for eggs to be replenished. The breakfast is good if compared to Super 8, but terrible in comparison to Embassy Suites, for example. -You will be charged a $40 daily destination fee. Use it. After you use it, make sure you close the little tab they will have for you, or you will get a call close to midnight waking up your entire family. -Lastly, don't be fooled by the map when you're considering the hotel's proximity to the beach. It is not a straight shot as it appears. Expect a 10 minutes walk.
Very Nice place
Hotel is close to everything food. There is a 10 minute walk to the beach and you have to bring the hotel beach chairs and umbrella. The $40 daily credit worked out for us as we used it mainly for drinks by the bar.
Very clean
The staff at this hotel were very friendly and helpful, which I appreciated. However, there were several aspects of our stay that could have been much better. The hallways and our room had a weird smell, and while the bedding seemed clean, it also had a strong “bleachy” odor. Worse, the duvet on our bed had what looked like a bloodstain. While the front desk replaced it promptly after I called, the experience was unsettling. The room itself had no way to turn off the AC, so it was uncomfortably cold at times, which made it hard to relax. Dining at the restaurant was also disappointing. It took 45 minutes for our food to arrive, and the salmon I ordered was dry and unappetizing. On the bright side, the drinks at the bar were well-made and enjoyable. Finally, I wasn’t a fan of the hotel’s policy requiring the use of a hotel fee/credit for the restaurant. It felt unnecessary and limiting. Overall, while the staff and bar were highlights, the odd smells, cleanliness issue, and subpar dining experience left a lot to be desired.
Overall, it was a OK experience. House Cleaning did not clean every day which I did not like and you have to pay for parking every day.
while our stay was mostly pleasant and the staff was cordial, we had an issue with not being able to get refunded money spent in the little shop area. We bought 3 packs of raisins which turned out to be moldy inside our money was not returned
The staff are amazing. Ariana always had a smile on her face and ready to help. Monica works in the bar and she was so efficient. However, I think the ventilation needs to be inspected. The pool area is perfect. Ample towels and housekeeping supplies are always available. Excellent location.
Would definitely stay there again.
When we first got there the room we received smelled of mold and the bed sheets were wet . We stayed in the lobby with our 1 yr child for an hour an half at 3 am because i was told we couldn't get another room til 8 am when the manager arrives however they did accommodate us .
Need to remove the carpet the mildew smell had my allergies all over the place.
Great staff and accommodations
Great hotel close to the airport. Everyone we encountered from the staff was friendly and helpful. Although we know it’s never guaranteed, our room was available early. The room was spacious and well appointed. We really especially appreciated Marisol, who checked us in and answered all of our questions With kindness and patience.
There is a charge for each night stay of $40. Beware of this.
Overall stay was great! Check in was easy, transportation was accessible and convenient, and dining options (including the hotel restaurant) was delicious!
Everything was marvelous!
The room smelled moldy. Circuit breaker kept shutting down the bathroom light. Tried multiple times to get staff to get them to come, but no one came to fix it. The service desk staff often didn't follow through and seemed disinterested. They should need retraining.
Holy mold!
The hotel itself is beautiful the loddy outside patio and pool area is gorgeous. Staff delightful. The disappointment was the rooms. Mold!!!! strong smell of mildew. I had to ask for a different room. The second room smell also of mildew less but noticeable.
Great
Everything clean, no smell, beautiful place, good customer service
First of all, parking is extremely expensive for guests. Secondly, they say to be a pet friendly hotel, but I was not allowed to be with my pet in the pool and during the breakfast. Since I was not willing to leave my small dog alone, I spent both days confined to my room. Employees were very service oriented.
Like: location near beach, size of room, refrigerator in room, free laundry on site, staff was generally very friendly and helpful. Dislike: house keeping never cleaned our room during a three night stay. Not happy about it. Told front desk twice to have some one clean our room while we were out but it was not done. Called front desk a third time, and finally showed up after we were getting ready to go out for night, so still didn't get room cleaned. House keeping said we had do not disturb sign on door when we did not. Not happy with this situation. Need to reconsider staying here again.
Garbage left in the room, prior to Stay, No more Valet parking sucks. Great area and Stay otherwise.
They made mistake upon our charge... Heating charges everywhere be prepared To pay more than you expected. Breakfast is Like a regular motel.. I wish I can leave pictures how. It's look inside. Rome's smell like mold, I wish they can use Air freshener at least. Stuff friendly..
Great staff very friendly willing to help and hotel was withing walking distance or very short drive of beaches, food and entertainment
This hotels needs maintenance and renovation. The central a/c unit has mold and pumps contaminated air through the ducts so the hotel smells like a high school foot locker. It was so bad my gf and I left 1 day in and got an Airbnb. Also, they have a $200 deposit and $40 a day they charge for food and beverage which you don't get back. Parking is $20 a day. We wasted $1000 on this hotel since we couldn't get a refund. STAY AWAY!!
The staff were great. The room was clean and spacious. It smelled a bit moldy sometimes. Some minor repairs are needed in the bathroom. Whoever chose shower and sink design made a bad choice. The $40 daily food credit that is included in the resort fee is kinda helpful. Remember to use it or you’ll lose it. I didn’t care for the pay to park. $19 a day to park at a hotel you’re already paying to stay at is wild. I wasn’t aware of this before I booked. The lawn chairs and beach towels were super helpful. The closeness to the beach and airport as well as grocery store and food options being in walking distance made this a good option for our family of 5.
Fabulous
Great. Room temperature was a little too cold. Too cold is better than too hot. Unable to adjust temperature.
This is our second time staying here and it was nothing like our first. Hotel has a very musty smell in the hallways and rooms. It was raining during our stay and two rooms from our party got a lot of water in them from the windows, enough to soak the floors. One of them got switched to a different room and the other room given a credit. The food menu is extremely limited and very pricey for the amount of food you get. Food and beverages at the hotel are expensive and not worth it. Twice we decided to forego the $40 “resort fee” that can be used for food there and instead opted to get all our meals elsewhere. Some staff are not very friendly and almost seemed inconvenienced when we needed something. On the day we checked out the elevators stopped working and we were on the 7th floor.
N
I booked a non smoking - partial ocean view room, did not get that. Smoke was coming through the vents from the room next to us. The pool could use some outside lights. Other than that, it was a pleasant stay.
Family fun times
Had a wonderful stay with family. Definitely recommend.
Very clean and professional
Stayed here for my birthday trip and everything was amazing! From the food to the pools to the staff. We had a great time and was close to everything! Will definitely stay again! 5 stars!!
Room was very humid wife called 3 times on Tuesday was never resolved. Had to stay in the humid room for 3 days. Also found a live cockroach in the kitchen. Addressed the issue to the manager only said that they were going to look into it.
Great location. Need entertainment
My room seemed to have been used by a smoker before me
i didnt like the smell of the hall ways smelled like midew. but the stay was great. monica at the bar was great
Good but not perfect
It was good but air cond did not work properly switch from cold to hot ( humidity high ) all the time during the stay
The only part I dislike is the $20 per day charge for guests parking, other than that I recommend to anyone.
I used to be a sales manager at residence inn, so I know the standard, and this was far below. 1. Hotel smell in the lobby was promising 2. Only one person working front desk, super slow service 3. Room wasn’t ready so waited at bar. 4. Bar service superb 5. Room finally ready, but upon entering dirt, crumbs outside door. Go inside, and room has horrible fish smell. Floors dirty, no paper towels in holder, just horrible. 6. Ask for another room, another wait, okay fine. 7. New room, old mildew smell? But better than fishy tank smell. No paper towels again. 8. Pillows limp, bed hard as concrete, rust on fixtures in bathroom, peeling on door, door kept sticking had to push hard to close it. All the things a former Marriott employee looks for, I noticed. 9 Walked to the beach, no signage to say “this way to beach” 10. Breakfast is only 7-9, two hours not enough because at 8:45 it’s super crowded. Makes for congestion, sloppy service, tables not cleaned, etc. Was looking for a hotel for my birthday 2025 for friends and family this is not it. Disappointed for a hotel built in 2022.
Our experience at this hotel was fantastic from the moment we arrived. The staff were friendly and welcoming, making us feel right at home. Our waiter, Ricky J., was exceptionally polite and always greeted us with a smile. Despite managing multiple tables, he remained attentive to our needs. The housekeeping was excellent; our beds were made daily, and we once left our safe deposit box open with cash inside by accident, yet nothing was disturbed. The hotel’s location is ideal, with a few dining options within walking distance and a short walk to the beach. If you're looking to explore more popular tourist areas, Uber rides are convenient and quick from this more relaxed, tranquil hotel. I would gladly stay here again.
Had to wait an hour for our check in
Staff made me wait for check in and then gave wrong room.
Central location!
This was a great hotel stay for our honeymoon. Great staff; they were attentive and helpful. The hotel also had dinner options when it came to using their hotel $40 credit on food and drinks. I recommend this stay to anyone looking for a place to stay in Carolina
Bed bugs bed bugs
Everyone at the hotel was nice and helpful ,if I had the opportunity to change something you need to have better meat options instead of always having pork for breakfast. I would like to thank the staff for our wonderful vacation stay at the Marriott in San Juan PR
Everything was nice will be back ‼️‼️
Had a great stay would revisit. Only thing I would change is you have to pay a daily fee upfront mine was $40 per day (additional) you had to use it on their food and if your bill was under $40 you don’t get your change back and you can’t add it in to the next day(s) credit and you can’t give the change to staff as a tip that’s what I’d like to change.
Everything was fine
Always had a pleasant stay...not so this time.
Great location and staff
Friendly staff.
This was my best lodging in All of PR.
staff should have proper training with it comes to customer service
The rooms at this property had no air vents in the bathroom, so when you shower the whole place was damped. Could not have anything dried in a timely manner. Also the bathroom floor was always wet due to not having full closure in the shower. Shower water would sprinkle on to the floor.
Excellent service and location.
Very clean and great people that work there
Perfect
The room was clean. The pool was nice. I would like it more if would be a jacuzzi by the pool. The breakfast are is nice but do not have straws or spoons at the coffe stand to can mix the coffe. No seating place for a smoking area.Everything esle is beautiful.Thank you
Nice hotel comfortable and clean
The hotel is located close to the airport and the beach. The hotel was clean but I will suggest to make sure the repairs are made.
I enjoyed the closeness to the Airport. It was great to be self-sufficient to walk to the beach, even the grocery store. and some great spots to eat. It was cool because we even made dinner at the hotel room one night and that was fun.
Wonder(ful) Land
Very nice accommodations, very accommodating, and very modern. I really love the look and feel of the room that I stayed in. The room had the extended stay amenities that would have impressed Emeril Lagasse! Simply out! I really enjoyed my stay at the "Residence Inn by Marriott San Juan Isla Verde." I also want to say that the pool area was magnificent, with an outside bar, and a kiddie pool area that rivaled Schlitterbahn. This is truely the place to stay while in Puerto Rico!!!
Marisol C. was super helpful and friendly. She g changed our room due to special needs to a spectacular room upon request. She is super accommodating. She made the stay more enjoyable and relaxing for that reason. Thank you Marisol. You are wonderful!
I had such an amazing time I LOVE PR
